Guest Reviews
- Christopher (8/5): - Everything i needed was on the same street.
- 198chrisww (8/5): Great place - Absolutely perfect location. Rooms are good with nice bathrooms. This is situated on the Main Street in the heart of town so expect a little bit of noise but nothing to bad. Staff are great and helpful with complimentary water and coffee. Breakfast good.
- caryghart (6/5): Lovely Staff, Okay room - This is a hotel that is in the heart of the city of Coron Town. The street this hotel is on is a bit quieter than most, but bring your earplugs as it can be noisy and the rooms have little sound proofing.
The staff was lovely, the breakfasts were basic but nice and included with the room. Be sure to go to the desk at the time that you reserved your breakfast to remind them to go and fetch it from their sister hotel across the street.
The hotel booked all of our excursions and were well advised on which ones would be good to join.
The room was clean and comfortable, though not spacious. The hotel itself is in need of a bit of updating but it is clean and well kept.
I would stay again if visiting the town.
- omixam (8/5): Cozy at a great location! - We stayed for 5 nights at Casa Coron and we enjoyed every minute of it. The location is perfect as it is close to lots of dining places. There is a pharmacy just a few doors away which was so handy when my husband ran a temperature and I need to get some medicines and thermometer. Breakfast is included, coffee and drinking water available anytime. Staff are very polite and attentive. They always greet you with a smile. I chose this property and I got a thumbs up from my husband and son. The only thing I can comment is the safe in the room should probably be attached to something. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Casa Coron.
- Lawrence (4/5): - The stay here was spoiled by both Expedia.ca and the management of the hotel. I booked two rooms, same size and same date but was charged double for one of the rooms... on day 4 of our stay came back to room to get key and no key at front desk. Spare key found by staff who opened door and found cleaning staff sleeping soundly on my bed...not a joke joke but funny anyway ...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place. Staff was very helpful and even assisted with things To make you comfortable as possible. If I will go back I would not hesitate to stay there again. There Is also good coffee shops next door and good food around the corner which made it easy when we would arrive from the tours and did not have to travel far as we were hungry at the end of the day.
- Exploration652674 (10/5): home-style comfort! - The hotel staffs are very accommodating and friendly. They will happily answer any of your questions and will give you tips on how to go on tour if your on a budget. My stay was very peaceful and quiet. Intimate home-style comfort ,with everything essential
Just outside its doors.
- BrinVINCEible (10/5): Casa=Home and it truly is - We stayed as a group at Casa for 5D/4N. I truly found the room homey. The mattress was comfortable for me especially after a day of island hopping and activities. The staff are accommodating and really friendly.
What I liked most is Casa’s location. Restaurants are nearby, other shops for basic needs are also near. The port is walking distance if ever getting a ride would take some time. Further, I relatively felt safe the entire time we stayed in Coron.
The bar/restaurant on the ground floor looks nice as well with it’s mexican theme, it’s nice to just sit there, enjoy your meal and watch as others pass by.
They have a group that they can connect you with for tours/activities during your stay which makes it more amazing.
- thechemistRN (10/5): the sweetest people - We stayed for 3 nights at Casa Coron Hotel and was treated nicely from the staff! They were very accomadating with their services that they have extended to us.Very grateful and will definitely come back!
- mikeyu123 (10/5): Helpful and accommodating - The hotel was very helpful and accommodating with our chaotic requests and they deserve praise for being flexible without complaint. The included tours were also breathtaking and the staff were very knowledgeable. We had a lot of questions and they were answered well and this contributed to our getting the best tour for our money.
- fergoturtle (2/5): We booked for two nights but only stayed for one - I was tricked into booking this hotel, based on the 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor. I don't know where those people stayed, but it surely cannot be the same place we did. Maybe they had a different room? But in a hotel that only has 8 rooms total, I cant imagine the rooms to be much different from each other.
I am in no way a fussy traveller. I can do simplistic, "just somewhere to sleep" type accommodation. On initial entry into the room, that was exactly what we got and that wasn't a problem.
The bed creaked with every movement, the mattress was about as thin as the top sheet they provided and worst of all, the pillow felt like a pillowcase stuffed with lumps of coal. The shower sprayed about 3 dribbles of water, all in different directions but none towards your body. The "hot" water was tepid at best and only lasted about 2 minutes. It had to be turned on separately, but this wasn't explained on arrival, so you just had to figure it out. There was no wifi at all in the room and the connection was extremely slow in the non-air conditioned reception area (which although we were told is normal on the island - is not true). The air con in the room was effective but switched off all the time and had to be manually re-started. The curtains were closed in our room when we arrived and we discovered why, the view out the window was of brooms and cleaning supplies - which is ironic.
The price we paid was minimal and I am aware of the saying "you get what you pay for", all of these negatives would've been fine for the price we paid, but it doesn't take much or cost a lot to be clean. When you have to wear jandals/flip flops in the shower in fear of contracting something from the endless mould, or varying coloured muck that surrounds you, there is a problem. The bathroom smelt like someone had just been in there to do a welcome poo for us before we arrived, but later we realised it just smells like that all the time. There were brown marks on the sheets, at the height of the groin area, so I am unsure whether these were blood stains or faeces, but that's where I drew the line.
We booked for two nights but only stayed for one. I wouldn't have stayed at all, had it not already been late in the evening. We left without requesting a refund - I really hope that money goes towards improving the rooms.
- Mneilcihsos (6/5): Ok for the money - It is in a good location with most everything you need within walking distance. Included breakfast is basic and ordered from menu the night before. Rooms are bare bones but we were not expecting anything fancy. Our AC and hot water worked. Bring your toiletries as only two bars of soap and two single use shampoos are provided. Mattress is 4 inch thick foam on wood base and pillows are large and firm. Towels were hit or miss and mostly stained or worn. Staff did replace when we requested better ones. Staff was pleasant but second the motion they are not motivated as they are good at reacting but not proactive.
We had a urine smell in bathroom when we checked in but told front desk and they cleaned better the next day. A few other unpleasant odors from the bathroom over the three nights but nothing unbearable. Leaving key at front desk at first seemed weird but then gave a feeling of comfort as they knew we were gone and watched the stairway going up to the rooms. They had a small safe in the room that was not attached to anything. We put our IPad and some cash and semi valuable items in it but not sure why you would provide a safe that could be easily carried away. Would not leave anything of major value behind.
Not sure I would come back as I think for another $1,000 pesos per night you can have much better experience at some the the other properties in Coron but if all you need is a place to sleep it is ok. Most everything in Coron costs more than typical so I would give this place a 3.5 rating.
- KarlaHazelT (10/5): Highly Recommended! - We stayed at this hotel for 3D/2N this September. We celebrated our anniversary and I must say we had the best decision in choosing this hotel. Arrived around 8am and surprisingly the room is available for check-in. Room is clean with complete bathroom amenities and safety deposit box. We stayed at the 2nd floor and it was very accessible. Just an additional information the room is non-smoking and eating is not allowed (like room service). They do offer complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby area, very nice touch! Staff are very attentive and polite, special thanks to Moises, he is very accommodating.Breakfast ala carte is served starting 6am. Tricycle is accessible as well.ATM,grocery store, bakeshop and restaurants is just walking distance from the hotel. Wifi is available in the lobby area only but signal is not stable. Hope they could improve this service. Nonetheless, everything was outstanding, Thank you so much Casa Coron for making our trip very memorable and satisfying. We will surely recommend this to our family and friends.
- K-board (10/5): 👍 - Staff is friendly, respectful and accomodating, My family stayed here in 2015 and i have been recommending this hotel to my friends who has been asking me about Coron. We also booked our island hopping tour and we love Mang Raul, our tour guide. You can tell he not only loves his job but he is passionate about being from Coron!!
- Jose (6/5): Buen hotel y bien situado. - Hotel perfecto para una estancia corta en el pueblo de Corón
- Chris (6/5): Friendly and decent fir Coron - Coron is very 3rd world with few nice accomodations. This isnt fancy but it was comfortable and the staff was very nice.
- kisseygulle12 (10/5): The Perfect Refuge in Coron - I feel blessed to be able to stay in Casa Coron during our 4 days holiday in Coron. Staffs were exceptional! Incredibly helpful with anything that you need, from in-house query to helping you find a trike/e-trike to get around the small town of Coron; and they’re very kind! My partner and I were given a spacious room on the second-floor with one king/queen(?) sized bed and a single bed. The hotel is a walking-distance to restaurants, cafés, popular town tour spots (Lualhati Park for example), and a drugstore is just next to the hotel. Across Casa Coron is its sister-hotel, The Eco Lodge, the place is where we had our breakfasts. Meals were delicious even they were simple, they also got free tea and coffee. Thank you for accommodating us, Casa Coron! Had the best refuge to crash in to!
- oldsoulchild (4/5): Unapproachable staff - I've just spent 3 nights at Casa Coron. The room was basic, a bed, a bathroom and a TV. I don't plan to spend much time in the room so that's OK. The staff weren't attentive at all. They made me feel as though the simple task of leaving my room key with them and collecting it later was mammoth! When I went across the road for breakfast, staff didn't approach me on any of the 3 days to ask for my room number. I had to go to them each time. The WiFi only works right in front of the reception desk. Staff were always sitting behind the desk chatting, laughing and singing. I had to interrupt a YouTube video on how to apply the perfect eyebrow to get my key! They can only be described as sour faced.
There a small section to help yourself to drinks. There wasn't a bin to leave tea bags, I had to ask for a spoon. The whole place just lacked a little bit of tlc. It's in a good location but because of surly staff I wouldn't recommend it.
- jasonpalma7 (10/5): Happy vacation - You cannot find any other hotels in the same price range that can beat them. You pay usd 40 and get the quality of a 50-60 usd hotel. The staff are polite and friendly, especially the front desk, they will always smile at you. The rooms are clean, AC is good, toilet is good. We arrived 430am from 2go travel, and they let us check in at 9am even though the standard is 2pm. You can book your tours with them and they will not charge you commission fees and they will book you through the better tour agencies. Their free breakfast is the standard breakfast set commonly found in other hotels. Again, you are paying only 40usd so dont expect a buffet, the quality is very good for the price range. They are located near the fire station and there are roving security officers during the night. Located in the town, the place is not noisy so you can relax after a long day of tours. The calle real group is very nice. Their tour manager ms sheryl is also accommodating. You can ask her for customized packages so you can control your stay. I suggest go for 5D4N to enjoy coron. I definitely go book with calle real group again in my next coron visit. Either of casa coron or coron eco lodge is nice. Thank you
- 845vinp (10/5): Best in quality, budget and close to everything! - Just checked-in last holy week for 5 days and 4 nights. It’s a great little hideaway in Coron Town. They accommodated us perfectly. Our room was spacious and clean, including the bathroom and it has cabled TV. The staff was very friendly and helpful. With complimentary breakfasts ala carte and the food is good especially their longganisa. Also we loved their free 24/7 coffee and tea, your choice of hot and cold. Restaurants, markets, banks, boutiques / souvenir shops, Mt. Tapyas and St. Augustine church are nearby, also with Fire station and coliseum. Very transport efficient. We highly recommend this hotel.
- gregl505 (6/5): Unfriendly and unhelpful - Staff are disinterested in assisting. Safe facilities advertised are across the road at their sister hotel and despite asking each day, none were available. Staff suggested keeping valuables in our room and locking our door. Not very helpful!
- MalcolmSuperstar (2/5): Stay away ,it’s a dump , honest review by seasoned traveller - If you read the negative reviews I can tell you why they are telling you the truth about bad Aircon or bad AC in rooms , it’s filthy dirty with lots of dirt and mold. Every day had to ask for two rolls of toilet paper . Small rolls and the cheap foam mattresses where a back killer, my gf and I had back pains all night from the both queen beds. They charge you if you need xtra blanket since it’s only a stain sheet. Not sure why the great reviews which I think they are from young backpackers, definitely not from seasonal travelers like us who travel many places on a budget . We stayed at many two star to 5 star hotels and didn’t expect much when u go to the Palawan islands since this was our second time and I’ve seen more places in the Philippines than most 99.9% of the locals. This place is a DUMP!! And to add the wifi truly sux , I can only access it out front and it cuts out every 10 seconds or doesn’t allow you to log in every 3 minutes , the wifi speed is worse than dial up , line wtf? El Nido is more isolated and has better wifi. Do yourself a favour and don’t pick this place . Trust me! Location of this tiny motel is good next to a pharmacy, fire department is next door and two banks near by , but really it’s a walking town with tons of tricycles and exhaust pollution . If you have asthma or back issues I definitely don’t recommend you stay here. We were so excited to leave this place on the speed ferry to El Nido after 4 days . I end up having bronchitis and my gf had a very bad chest cold with fever because of the moldy and extremely dirty coils of the air conditioning . We stayed in room 1 and you have to give them your room key every time you left your room . This was such a huge inconvenience to us and made us sick . So this is the first time the Tripadvisor reviews failed us and sadly I had to write a honest bad review that goes against the many backpackers who loved this place. Mainly young backpackers who are couples or young girl groups who never been to a exotic Asian vacation. This place I give 1 out of 10 . It shouldn’t be on Tripadvisor.
- davidrT7293ND (10/5): LOCATION LOCATION - Room adequate and A.C. worked.Hot shower. Not the best breakfast but I am not staying for that. Ultimate Coron boat tour booked via the hotel - AWESOME.
Used Calamian Islands Travel and Tours ☆☆☆☆☆
Professional safe a great lunch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Some of the cheaper tours are cramped and have too many passengers!
- A (8/5): Very helpful and friendly staff - This hotel is very close to everything. The main road to Mt. Tapyas is a couple of blocks away. Lots of restaurants nearby. Local market is about a 5 minute walk. Bought fresh fishes and crabs and had them cooked at a nearby restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Small and clean - A nice small hotel in town but away from any noise. Excellent location if your happy to stay in central coron.
- Eloisa (8/5): Good - this is a small island, can not expect more.
- Kevin (8/5): Casa coron - We stayed here for 2 nights out of our 3 in Coron Town. Very central location walking distance to all the good restaurants and main sights of town. Prices in Coron Town for hotels are more then the other islands we stayed at so for about $50 CAD per night this was very good value. Would definatley stay here again next time I'm in Coron.
- Cayla (10/5): Great little hotel - Most clean hotel we stayed in in our 26 day Philippine vacation. Very friendly helpful staff. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Great short order restaurant downstairs and full restaurant across the road (at the sister hotel Ecotel) I would recommend anyone stay here.
