Guest Reviews
- Vivienne (8/5): - The garden surrounds and leafy setting around the accommodation were lovely. The soft furnishings in the restaurant areas were tired and a bit grubby. Dinner and breakfast was uninspiring with ordinary presentation. We found a restaurant in town that served much better food. We stayed in a glamping tent, which was fine. Suggest that the tents need a mirror in the bathroom and a bedside table. Towel racks or hooks in the bathroom would have enabled towels to dry. Staff were attentive and friendly.
- J Scott (10/5): A wonderful place to stay! - This is a wonderful place to stay! Great food, great rooms, great people! Could not have been happier.
- Yvonne (8/5): - Easy to find from the border crossing.
Food average to good
- Wilson (8/5): - Want Tranquility, smartness and utmost hospitality, think Kwalape. It took two days to fix the drain from the shower in room 8, though.
- Alan (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful forest amongst the lodges. Easy to set up rides to Victoria Falls and Chobe park. A must stay!
- natan (2/5): Worst experience - Stay away guys! I got terrible bed bugs in two of their tents. The first time it happened to me in Africa. The management didn’t care and didn’t offer any compensation.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bathroom of our tend had no roof and is the rain season. Terrible experience. We checked-out 2 days before and change lodge but I’m steel waiting for the refound from Expedia. Terrible! Never again
- Elizabeth (10/5): Right on the main road in Kasane - Great swimming pool and nice restaurant. Lots of bird and gardens. The staff was friendly and helpful. They hooked me up with the tours. It was great except I did get lots of mosquito bites. Next time I’ll use more repellent.
You can Easily take a shared taxi for 5 pula.
- Rose (10/5): I have been to Chobe is game after game. - The stay was good, the service and cleanliness not to talk about the food. I enjoyed every minute looking forward to visiting Chobe again.
- Lorena (8/5): Nice area - Very nice location, with big beautiful gardens with lots of lakes and birds. The bar and the pool area are very nice and we spent a great time swimming and chilling out.
Restaurant offers a big menu and everything we tried was tasty and reasonable priced.
We slept in a fornitured tent that was spacious but too hot, even with a fan on.
The shared toilets and showers were always a bit dirty and they were definitely too old.
We had a bit of trouble at the check-in. They put us in a tent that was already occupied. Also they told us that the accommodation was not paid yet but it was (by Hotels.com). Apart from that everything was nice and the staff was polite.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well run, professional staff, and one of the more affordable places to stay in the Kasane area. The food was excellent,
- Nishi (10/5): - We stayed in one of the safari tents and it was much more comfortable than we expected. The staff went above and beyond to help accommodate us. They found us a free tent at 6am when we arrived, helped us arrange bus tickets and were knowledgeable about any questions we had. The pool was cold but that’s what happens in winter. There were many places to relax around. It was a wonderful experience.
- adeline (8/5): Quiet place for few days - Nice place few kilometers (5-6 km) to Nata. You need to take a taxi to go there. Shady, quiet. We stayed in a safari tent. The bedding is not very confortable and no plug inside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location. Chalets very clean. Had a feel of wilderness to it. The staff are really friendly. Went an extra mile to make our stay great . Highly recommended ...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Nice pool. Clean and comfortable bed. AC and heater were working and needed. The staff were able to arrange game drives and cruises which were very affordable. We also went for a day trip to Victoria Falls.
- Kristofer (10/5): nice people - Very nice staff, cold in the tent but worth the money.
- Megan (6/5): Mediocre - Overall, the stay was fine. The rooms were small and in need of some repairs and the furniture was broken. Needs new flooring in the room. The bathroom was nice though the only window that opened was very small and did not have a screen.
The pool area was nice. The restaurant took 1.5 hours to get our food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s my third time staying with them, it’s good value for mine and pleasant staff.
- Markus (8/5): - Campground, very friendly stuff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good value for money, I love their gardens and sitting area, I booked a tent room , very basic but great price.
- Julius Ntsikelelo (10/5): Amazing - Its a nice tent camp and a wuute area. Night itz a nightmsre on the streets. I come across a hippo and abiyt 12 buffalo's. It was scaring. Game reserve, disappointing
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff is very friendly and kind. I misunderstood tent site price without tent, but they did discount for me a bit. But still under construction some facility, a bit noisy. No one went to tour so I have to call your desk myself, and a bit far from town. The tent room and bathroom is clean and large. Can enjoy camp site.
- Diana (8/5): Good value -- great staff - We stayed in a chalet with twin beds. Room is small, but sufficient for a couple nights. Shower was very nice. A/C worked well, but the safe did not. Liked having a porch to sit outside. The pool was very cold (in late August). Staff was super friendly. Breakfast was good (eggs made to order, fruit, muffins, coffee, juice). Enjoyed the braai dinner with traditional dancers. Not much around the lodge or in town, but was a good place from which to do a game drive and boat cruise/safari which we booked through the lodge. A little rustic, but good value for the money in this area.
- Pascual (10/5): Nice place to stay. - Very friendly staff, especially Tato.
Showers and toilets clean with hot water. Wide campsite.
- Tshepo (8/5): - Nice camping experience at the lodge. The location is easily accessible as well. There was a bit of a delay with check in, had to wait for a couple of minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Yu (10/5): Tropical paradise with wonderful staff - Wonderfully friendly staff. We had a tent booking but was curious about the chalets. The young lady at the front desk pleasantly showed us chalets of different layouts. We were impressed by this tropical garden! Very comfortable stay. The lodge also offers great tours. We saw leopards in the morning drive into the Chobe, and saw a huge herd of elephants for the evening boat ride. Both were organized by the lodge at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Did not accurately describe. - It was unclear what the "room" would be, they could have just said tent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonably Priced Tent Option - Stayed in one of their tents at a very reasonable price. Showers and toilets nearby and clean. Very good quality food in restaurant, including some local dishes. Very nice pool and bar area. Good, reasonably fast WI-FI. The only problem was that every time I tried to pay cash in the restaurant, there was not adequate change, even though I was not paying with big bills. Much time wasted while they ran around the property trying to find change somewhere. This complaint may seem minor, but it became really very annoying because it happened at EVERY meal over a period of three days. This is easy to fix, so there is really no excuse.
- Mark and Cathy (8/5): - Very pleasant experience with friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful surroundings and a high degree of privacy but an opportunity to interact with others too. Unforgettable sunset cruises on the Chobe
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great affordable place to stay in Kasane - We really enjoyed our stay at Kwalape. The grounds were very nice and the standard room was comfortable and clean. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and kind. They helped us arrange a safari with Tony’s mobile camping safari to Savuti and Chobe which was a once in a life time experience. Thank you Kwalape!
- P&D (8/5): Nice accomodation - Close to Kasane, the tent was comfortable and close to the washrooms. Staff were great and so was food. Pool was a welcome site on a hot day. Good security.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient, economical place - If you have to spend a night in Kasane, this is not a bad place to stay. However, note that if you choose the most economical option (the tents), the toilets and showers are a bit of a hike away, and outside.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Unremarkable tent and chalet village. Chalet plagued with insects. Restaurant staff inept.
- Martin C (6/5): - the stay was nice, friendly staff. The one geyser in the ablution was not working so hot water was not enough. The matrasses in the tents are very warn out(PORE STATE), so sleeping was not nice.
- Alex (8/5): Relaxing Stay with Great Vibe - This is a great place to stay. It's a short cap ride from Kasane, but this is an ideal place to relax for a day while you either acclimate to Botswana or recover from your amazing safari.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant - Great stay, although the are in need of some maintenance.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Chalets, friendly & helpfull staff. - The lodge is very clean and nicely setup for Campers, tents and has chalets. Staff were very friendly and helpfull.
Its very clean and the prices are moderate compared to the more expensive lodges.
The activities on offer are also very moderate( price).
will be visiting again:)
- Anya (8/5): Peaceful relaxing place, still finding its feet - I stayed in a safari tent for two nights as a solo traveller. The camp is very peaceful and quiet and a good place to relax. It is outside Kasane but you can access the town by combi or taxi on the main road. The people on reception were helpful but as I was a solo traveller they weren't able to organise a game drive or boat cruise for me and I did this myself separately through Chobe Marina Lodge and Puku Safaris. The restaurant was okay but nothing special, would recommend going out for food. There is wifi throughout which works pretty well, depending where you are.
Overall this feels like a place which is relatively new and still finding its feet, but the people and the location are lovely and it is good value for money.
- Matshwene (10/5): We enjoyed our one night stay - This is the best place to stay. We were from Zimbabwe and Zambia (Victoria Falls) and going to South Africa. If you want to have a good night sleep, book a room. We changed from a tent to a room because we didn't think that a tent will meet our needs but the room was soooo nice, clean, water water, internet, air conditioner, and a very good dinner in their kitchen. There is a also a bar fridge in their rooms - not in the tent. My laundry was done for just $7.
Is somehow hard to get alcohol in the kitchen because their bar is a lil distance away from the kitchen. Every time you order a beer, wine, whiskey, a waitress has to run across the bush to get you one. Apart from this, you will love the place.
- Matthew (8/5): Work on customer service but great value - Tents were excellent, comfortable beds and well lit to the shower/toilet block. Food was good but but service on our last night let them down. First couple in the restaurant and placed food order first but three other tables that arrived after us got there food first, then when we signed for our meal we were asked to walk to the bar across other side of the camp to sign for the alcohol we had???? We signed out late Monday night as we planned to get on the road early Tuesday and the young girl on the desk had no customer service skills whatsoever, no smile no eye contact, no thanks for staying with us nothing. Really let an otherwise lovely stay down.
- Christopher (8/5): - The T-Bone steak was nice and the dubai matteress in the tent was comfortable. If you are traveling with no car you can just walk out to the road and flag a scared taxi down and it will take you for legs than 1 USD.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The price in the area is higher than it sould be. This is the place just of main road with reasonable "low" price.
- Tushar (8/5): - The stay was comfortable and the staffs were friendly.
- Euncheul (10/5): Perfect relaxation without interruption - The lodge is quite remote from town.
However the provide all activity programs and you cannot miss it.
- b (6/5): - The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
The restaurant had a great menu, but whatever we asked for they did not have, so it would be great if the restaurant provided ALL that was on the menu.
As we wanted to depart very early, we were promised a packed breakfast, but this never happened.
Apart from that we saw a lot of wild life and it was a wonderful experience, being in Kasane.
- ferdi (6/5): - perfect for what we required, coming from the bush back into city life
- Francesca (10/5): An oasis in the centre of Kasane - At first I wasn't sure how well our stay at Kwalape would go, but I was thoroughly impressed by the place! To begin, the staff were very friendly and accommodated our requests. The facility was well organised, our tents were cleaned daily, and even the outdoor showers, with the exception of a few spiders, were spotless. The facility has a beautiful new garden full of bullfrogs, fish, and colourful flowers, and the atmosphere really makes you feel as if you're a part of nature.
We stayed in one of the small tents and felt right at home. We didn't have any pests coming in our tent to harass us. We were also provided a fan and AC outlet to charge our electronics. Facility comes with free WiFi through the campsite. Beers and waters were VERY cheap (roughly 1 Euro per bottle) and offered two restaurants with a rooftop view of the camping grounds.
Finally, this was a great value, as it gave us access to Chobe National Park and river boat cruises at the city centre. By calling a cab, we could easily access the local marketplace and buy supplies for our stay. We fully enjoyed our time here and were very happy to have chosen Kwalape.
- MM (6/5): Safari at Kwalape - The Ablutions for camping and safari tents should be separated
- Mohamed (6/5): Great if you do not need wifi - The wifi was terrible in the room. I have to go to the lobby to use wifi. In the lobby, wifi was slow but not bad most of the time.
You need to get a taxi to go to down town where there is ATM machines, supermarket, and KFC. The taxi would cost 3 - 4 USD per trip.
- Caterlina (8/5): A little more tips for the budget travelers - Don't expect WiFi in the set tent as it is only in the restaurant. 10-15 min /80 pulas taxi to/from downtown. Price for the accommodation is right as budget travelers stay there either transit or one day tour to Chobe Waterfront. We managed to go to Nata then Maun the next morning at 6am in the bus station in downtown Kasane - no prebook as it is a shared 20-seaters mini bus and they leave when almost full.
