Guest Reviews
- Christy (7/5): Ok room - Bed was comfortable The bathroom fan noise was horrible!!!! There was no shelf in the shower to put your shampoo, soap on. Also we order 2 king bed rooms and got 1 king room and other room had 2 queens.
- CruiseTim (10/5): Great Gem in Canaan Valley - Wonderfully exceptional little gem in Canaan Valley. Large room, king bed, and a welcoming staff member made this an enjoyable one night stay. Very clean and quiet. It wasn't open because of the weather but they have a beautiful mini-golf course as well.

I was hoping to have some eggs and waffles. Instead everything contained sugar. Coffee was a 3 star.
- Joshua (8/5): -
- Sara (9/5): -
- Darren (8/5): - Good location for Davis, good sized suite, for our family of 5. Well stocked kitchen with appliances and kitchen ware. Beds weren't the best.
- travelkitty50 (6/5): The nearby waterfalls are nice. The food in town isn't great. The gas prices are high. - This was a birthday getaway trip, planned to be easy and restful. It was neither. We booked two nights, for the "suites" (which are bottom floor attached apartments), which do have two bedrooms and a full kitchen, however upon checking in, we were given the key to a unit already occupied. The reason that we got the key is that the occupants turned the key in to the desk when they left for work and upon returning in the evening, whomever was sleeping there would retrieve the key. Why the night clerk wasn't aware of this I couldn't say. At that point he also told us that there were no more units that night available who didn't have someone above it. I had read several reviews after booking here that mentioned "thin walls" and "noises from the people above the ground floor unit" but decided to keep the reservation because it was a birthday surprise and because there are really nice waterfalls nearby which I thought we would enjoy (we did). So the clerk offered us the top floor of the hotel (the property pictured on their website) for that night, and adjusted the bill. It was quiet except for the fact that we were above the lobby, and right next to the stairway to the lobby, so there was still noise. After driving there, having taken several hours from where were are, and being tired and sore, I really wanted quiet and rest. The beds in the room were nice, the bathroom was ok, and the tv was small, but we rested pretty well until the morning noise in the lobby started up. The following night we were given the suite next door to the one from the night before (that was occupied), and told by the manager that we could have had that suite the night before! That was the unit I booked and expected, and would have been much more comfortable. So, speaking of comfort, we were just getting settled in for the evening when, sure enough, the occupants of the unit above us came in, and true to the reviews before, I could hear every footstep made back and forth overhead, dropping of boots, even some conversation. And this was with our tv on the whole night. So, even though the suites are nice, the comments about the noise from other guests are accurate. We tried our hardest to sleep through the night and were woken up several times by the noise overhead. After a spotty night's sleep, we got up early the next morning and left after checking out. I also didn't have a kitchen sponge on the sink and when I went back to the office to ask for one and some more soap, (they leave one small soap bar), the manager we had talked to before about the previous night said "What next" when I entered the lobby. That was hurtful and pretty much sealed any chance of returning there. I can't help it if we had complaints due to their mistakes. When you book a place, you should expect to receive what you expect to get without a bunch of excuses and mistakes.
- Bianca (8/5): Gutes Preisleistungsverhältnis - Schnell zu erreichen Stuhl am Schreibtisch ist sehr wackelig. Raum 101 ist sehr nah an der Rezeption und daher sehr unruhig gewesen
- AngelaS412 (10/5): A clean, comfortably, and enjoyable stay! - We booked one of the 2-bedroom suites and could not have been more pleased! We were just a few minutes away from many public hunting land locations, which is why we were in town, and it just made everything so convenient. Booking the stay online was easy, check-in was a breeze, and the suite was exceptionally clean, comfortable and already warm, which was a very nice bonus on such a chilly day! There was lots of lighting inside with a modern feel to the spaces. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cooking equipment, plus dish soap, a dish drainer, and extra paper towels. The bathroom was well stocked with towels, wash clothes, and extra toilet paper. Both bedrooms had very spacious closets and comfortable beds. A hall closet was even available which provided extra storage for us. The closet even had a broom for quick cleanups and a boot/shoe tray right by the front door to help keep dirt and debris at bay. We missed the grab & go breakfast 2 of our 3 days there since we headed out pretty early, but we did get to grab & go on the day of our checkout. The breakfast area was adorably decorated for Christmas and had a variety of items to choose from. This area was super clean, as well. We absolutely will stay here again! It was such a pleasant experience and very reasonably priced.
- Nell (9/5): -
- Brian (10/5): Overall, it was a great stay! - The staff and comfy bed A little nosey in the hall. A full carpet would minimize the sounds
- Mary (10/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): - It was quaint, comfortable and a good value.
- Barbara (9/5): -
- Gary (10/5): - We loved staying here again. My husband and I take a fall trip together every year. The renovations are beautiful. The bed was comfortable and staff was beyond great. We were on the ground floor. So the people above us were very loud. I'm sure it's due to thin ceilings. That is the absolute only complaint we have. We love the renovations they have done. Can't wait to return next fall.
- David (7/5): -
- Robert (9/5): -
- Theodore (4/5): - There was no stand to put our suitcase on.
- Linda (10/5): - This comfortable small hotel offered a continental breakfast as well as hot soup for dinner. The soup was unexpected and very much appreciated. The staff was informative and helpful.
- James M (8/5): - The room was not as soundproof as I've experienced in other hotels; hence, i heard the young people around me into the late evening. I also thought the water pressure in the shower was pitiful.
- nicoledF5010BI (10/5): Helpful and caring staff! - We broke down this weekend and we were stranded without transportation. The hotel staff was very warm, helpful and kind to two stranded ladies. They went above and beyond to help us figure out what to do about our car, where to eat, and how to get help. Unfortunately we had to check out because the hotel was full and the only place we could book was 8 miles away in Davis. Stranded without a car we were desperate, but the manager of the hotel Danyelle came to our rescue, not only did she drive us to the new hotel but provided us with water and a snack bag. This is a wonderful hotel, the rooms are very nice, it is in a great location and everyone we encountered who works there went above and beyond to help us. I can't recommend this place highly enough (plus they have fabulous Halloween decorations)
- Donnie (6/5): - The only issue I had was we were on the bottom floor and we could hear EVERYTHING from the room above us! Very frustrating to say the least..they definitely need to address that
- Lisa (8/5): - For whatever reason, the walls are thin or rather permit noises to be heard from the room. Other than that, the property is spotless and the staff great! I would highly recommend for a nice affordable stay in Davis. Breakfast offering was abundant and sweet. Good bagels, coffee excellent, and the first day- there was legit biscuits and gravy ( in a crockpot).
- John I (8/5): - I expected it to be substandard, because of a misleading review. It was clean, comfortable, and modern. The reviewer mentioned trash under the bed??? Anyone can make a mistake, but I wondered if this was a false review. I spent zero time under the bed, perhaps I missed the trash.
- Jean-Paul (6/5): - Clean room. Comdortable bed. Mediocre service at best. Plenty of parking. Generally quiet other than some noise in hallway rooms too close to reception and from rools above on 2nd floor.
- nicole (10/5): - The front desk lady was very friendly. The room was clean and stocked with toiletries. I would definitely stay again
- Sheila (8/5): - conveniently near black water falls state park, which is an awesome place to visit. The Inn has a clean and tidy guest service area. Our cabin room was on the second floor (no elevator), clean interior with a full kitchen, 2BR/1bath. Kitchen is equipped with necessities, just add food. Beds were comfortable.
con: there is one very small mirror located in the one bathroom that is quite small as well. Isn’t an issue for males but most females like to check their appearance, apply makeup, set hair. Incredibly difficult to do with a super small, round mirror in a bathroom other ppl need to use. It would be beneficial to have at least one full length mirror available for those females who care to check their appearance.
also cons:
Putt putt costs extra, not included with stay.
when we visited (september) the sparsely available eateries were closed. a lot of the eateries in Davis were closed as well. we went to the very small grocery/gas across from the Inn, nothing to cook just few frozen meals. There is a subway inside the station, we purchased sandwiches and called it a night.
The on the go options for breakfast were decent: bagels, muffins, cereal, coffee, tea, oj, hot chocolate. staff was present, not super friendly, just available.
we had a restful, one night stay.
- Hemi (8/5): - The rooms have ZERO insulation in the walls and i was awake until 2am Sunday morning because the people next door had many loud conversations and arguments
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Area is beautiful. Telaxing atmosphere. Hotel was not like photos online, not as nice.
- Don (8/5): - The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly, with a good sense of humor. Family friendly, with a great Putt Putt golf area.
- John (10/5): - Was amazing and the staff was great will come back great atsmophere. The Blankenships
- Kathleen (10/5): - There for a family reunion. Room clean. No complaints. We would recommend this place to everyone. No complaints
- Michael (6/5): - It was ok
- marylu (10/5): The Inn @ Canaan - The bed was very comfortable. We booked a 2 bedroom two bath but got a two bedroom 1 bath. There was a kitchen equipped with everything needed to cook a meal. There is a mini golf on site and a grocery store and gas station across the highway.
- James L (8/5): - Clean rooms and quiet
- terrycH8916DL (10/5): A very enjoyable stay! - My wife and I just spent three nights at the Inn. What a relaxing experience. The staff was outstanding and really concerned about their guests’ comfort. They even provided free delicious chicken and dumplings at no charge. There is lots to see and do in the area, including mini golf on the grounds. This was not our first stay, and won’t be the last!
- jakpak2016 (2/5): No room at the inn, a truly religious experience! - What can I say, three night reservation made more than 6 months ago prior to our travel from the UK. Arriving, we’re told that the room intended for us had suffered water damage and you’re on your own. No attempt made prior to our arrival to make any kind of local alternate arrangement for us. This proved not possible on the day and we were forced to drive a further 50 miles to Elkins. Front desk lady apologies were profuse and genuine but the story that we had been told ahead of time by email was manifestly false. Having seen the place I think we probably had a lucky escape!
- Friend (8/5): Clean, comfy, not sound proof - The location was convenient and provided an economical value. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. The hallway was very dark, leading to our room when we checked in. It was so dark, we couldn't even see the numbers on the door. Additionally, when in the room or hall, you could hear everything from everywhere - even someone simply walking. You would expect to hear someone above you walking in a cheaper structure, but not necessarily beside you on the ground floor like we did in this scenario.
- Thomas (10/5): All staff members were very friendly and helpful. - Nice facility and clean, Halloween decorations were great. No complaints
- Pamela (10/5): I will definitely be staying there again. - This was so much more than I expected. It was so cute and quaint. It was close to several restaurants. The staff was amazing.. The owner really cares and has decorated for the season. The pillows and the bedding were top notch.. I had two of the best nights sleep while staying there that I’ve had in a long time. They have a really cute firepit area and another guest had started a fire so I joined. Everything was awesome a really a nice stay. One thing was breakfast selections. Most everything was high carb based like breads, muffins, toast and cereal. I would recommend adding some boiled eggs or Greek yogurt to the selection and a couple of fruit choices, as well.
- Jason (8/5): Perfect quiet place - This place was located in a nice and quiet area. Had a nice fire pit behind the hotel and putt putt course right out front our door. Other than our noisy neighbors, we had an amazing time staying here.
- christina (9/5): I will be staying again! - Loved it staff is amazing and welcoming I loved the privacy and mini golf
- Jenny (10/5): Buffalo Rose at rhe Purple Fiddle - Very nice room, clean and comfortable.
They should have directions for the TV, I accidentally found the Guide channel my second day.
The clerks were friendly and efficient, checking in especially.
Breakfaat included was a nice plus, too many xgarge extra fir that now.
- Lynda (10/5): - Conveniently located near Canaan Valley State Resort Park. Comfortable! bed!
- Alison (10/5): - The Inn was a great choice. The rooms were large with plenty of space to walk around the beds and furniture. The breakfast was good. All the staff I spoke with were friendly and helpful. The price was great for what you got. I would definitely stay here again.
- angie61276 (10/5): Clean and convenient place to stay! - The room was super clean, and the location was exceptional. There is a convenience store across the road and an 18 hole mini golf course on the property. There were toiletries available in the room as well as a coffeemaker, microwave, and mini fridge. They have a grab n' go breakfast option and the staff was friendly and helpful with any questions I had. My family and I felt very comfortable and will be staying again when we return to the area. The only thing that would have been helpful was a hair dryer in the room. If there was one, I didn't find it.
- Audrey (10/5): - Cute hotel, remodeled in 2021, Clean and bright. I would stay here again.
- Michael (10/5): -
- mark (10/5): - Several restaurants and the Canaan valley resort nearby. Also close to blackwater falls.
- Rosemary (10/5): - Great location for access to golf at canaan valley. What a hoot to have a miniature golf course right in front of the hotel!
- David (7/5): -
- Mario (10/5): - Our stay at the Inn at Canaan was wonderful. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Great place for a get-away.
- Michael (10/5): - The bed wasn’t as comfortable as I had hoped and the air conditioner was loud. The staff was friendly.
- Shantanu S (10/5): - Excellent place, felt like we were at home with a 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen.
- Jeff (9/5): -
- Tong (8/5): - The hotel has a Putt Putt area where you can ease after a long day of traveling.
- Christina (6/5): Glad it was only 1 night - I have mixed reviews about this location… Check in with a joke. The guy with the beard tells me my card is decline. Not possible!!
After I asked him to run again, he told me it was just going to decline. He couldn’t be bothered to review his info after asked him if my information was correct. So I had to call my credit card company & once I got to customer service I put it on speaker. No charge had been declined so the issue was on his end. He had my ZIP Code wrong & could’ve just reviewed my information prior. It could’ve been resolved so much easier. The attitude I got from him when he thought my card was bad was unacceptable! He was training another young man who looked petrified, and when my husband later on went to ask a simple question, the young guy did not even respond or acknowledge him. He may be new, but you have to learn how to work w customers. I guess the guy with the beard was showing off early on, but he only looked like a fool when he was the one at fault. He is the one that needs the training on how to treat customers. Check out was much easier. The room is clean & I had asked if we could have a first floor room as I realized there were NO elevators. They put us in the main building, the rooms are very basic w no frills. Very small bathroom & being in the main building you hear everybody talking & walking around as there’s no barrier at the end of the hall. The back door access has issues getting it to open. Breakfast offered is basically bread type items.
- Oxus (10/5): -
- Ralph (10/5): - the staff was very friendly the area was beautiful
- Todd (10/5): - The facility and the personnel were excellent. They charge a higher pet fee than most places.
- Judy (6/5): - We were given a handicap room, the first room in the hallway and it was very noisy people laughing and talking, and being on the bottom floor there were people on the top floor above us not very pleasant would not recommend
- Estelle (8/5): - Beautiful, quiet area and clean room. Good proximity to Blackwater Falls.
- Robin (8/5): Beautiful Inn.,,,needs some tweaks for sure! - Clearly the bathroom had not been cleaned as evidenced by the prior occupants blue ring marks
Also charging $15 per person for putt putt golf was a bit excessive Plus the attendant was not helpful with places to eat or sights to ser
- Krystal (8/5): - Breakfast was grab and go.The beds were comfortable.
- J. Dwight (10/5): Excellent - Very nice staff and nice rooms.
- Christina1119 (4/5): Stay somewhere else - Mixed reviews… check in was a joke. He (guy with a beard) tells me my card is declined..ummm not possible. After I told him to run it again he says it’s just going to decline it. Didn’t even try.. even when I asked if he had all my Info correct. Couldn’t be bothered to review what he had. So I had to call my credit card company.. I put it on speaker once I got customer service on. No charge had been declined, so issue was on his end. When I was giving customer service my name & address I guess he notice he had my zip code wrong.. hmmm ..Funny how once he corrected info, it went through. The attitude I got when he thought my card was bad was uncalled for. He was training a young guy who looked petrified. I guess he was showing off, but he only looked like a fool. HE is the one who needs training & needs help on how to treat customers. I know I got snippy right back.. it had been a long day & getting soaked from rain out on a trail.. didn’t need his ucalled for remarks. Check out was easy & much more pleasant with the lady.
Room was clean and I had asked if a first floor was an available because there are NO elevators & we are on a long trip with a lot of stuff. That was a good part as they did move us. It’s basic with no frills. Very small bathroom. The back entrance door is a joke as well as it’s tricky to open. I noticed after when I held the door for my husband there’s a rock on the ground to hold door open to load & unload.
We were in the main building so other rooms in a separate building could be better, but there are stairs for second floor. Thankfully it was only a 1 night stay. The noise level is crazy. You hear EVERYTHING..cars on the road, noisy guest who talk and those at the front desk who
Seem to be hollering at very early hours. Very simple continental breakfast.. basically cold biscuits & gravy. A few other basic grab & go items. I had a headache by the time I actually got up from being woke up so many times. It’s about 20 mins to Blackwater Falls State Park. There is a store, gas station & subway across the street. Nothing else food wise close.
I can not recommend this location and I would not stay here again.
- Rodney (9/5): Very enjoyable trip with a comfortable room - Location NA
- Tammy (9/5): Superb - The chalet was beautiful. Location was great. Could have had more options for breakfast and mini golf should be included for those who stay there.
- Timothy (10/5): NICE - Great plsce to dtay for our weekend getaway
- Claudia (10/5): Great night! - Room was very nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bed and pillows felt just like home!! Great night's sleep. Breakfast was adequate. Thank you.
- Kevin (10/5): - Everything was great except the WiFi, it was very slow, or unusable.
- Michael (8/5): - Great place to stay while visiting surrounding area!
- Melissa (8/5): Perfect - Very nice and criso comfy sofa nice kitchen The only thing I didn’t like is housekeeping staff does not bring you towels and washcloths and take out your trash
I also don’t think the mini golf should be so high if you stay at the INN
- Jennifer (10/5): - I thought I was booking at a different place but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was! Highly recommend!
- raleigh (8/5): nothing fancy - relatively clean and neat, nothing fancy
- Chris (6/5): - This property reminded me of a Comfort Inn only with a retail price of $140 per night. Kinda felt like I was being gouged even with $10 Expedia discount.
- William (10/5): Great Central Location - My wife and I stayed Sunday through Friday. The location was perfect for our day trips/hiking/horseback riding to Blackwater Falls State Park; the Albert Falls, Teresa Falls, Douglas Falls hike near Thomas; Dolly Sods Wilderness; Seneca Rocks; and eating in Davis and Canaan Valley. The hotel was very clean and everyone was friendly. We would stay there again.
- Carol (3/5): We won’t stay here again not book through booking. I’m removing the app. - The room was clean. We booked through booking and wasnt told there was a PET FEE. It said pets allowed so I didn’t figure in extra fees. They were going to charge us $100 per dog but gave me a break because I went through you and it wasn’t made clear so I was still charged $100.
The had a putt putt golf but it was ridiculously priced also. The breakfast was minimal at best. Honestly we were not impressed with our stay.
We were not placed in a pet room and were just doors down from the receptionist. The walls must have not been insulated as it was loud from the other people staying and I could hear the receptionist all night. I could hear people above us too as the floored creaked half the the night with people walking. Someone came in very late and I heard every word of their conversation. The bed wasn’t comfortable either. Overall I’d give this Inn at Canaan a 2/10 only because it was clean.
- April (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and beautiful surroundings . Staff were very friendly. Wonderful place
- Atro (4/5): Dirty - The facility is relatively new, but in need of better cleaning service. Dirty shower and mirror, dust on the surfaces.
- Carol (2/5): - The scenery was beautiful, but the young man that helped us when we checked in was very unwelcoming and rude. We changed a 2 day stay to a 1 day stay, because we felt so unwelcomed. The young lady that checked us out on the day we were leaving was super sweet. We are a Mexican American family and were told to expect this treatment, but really didn't expect for it to actually happen.
- JENNA REED (10/5): - When we checked in they placed in a room directly by the front desk. About five minutes later I asked if we could get placed in another location within the hotel because the previous night we had stayed by a front desk and it was noisy. Chelsea found us a two bedroom suite and let us pay the difference and we had the most spacious and peaceful space for the night. Thank you Chelsea!
- William (10/5): - Very clean, up to date furnishings. exceptional staff! Will definitely stay again!

- Bryant (10/5): Best new, clean, price friendly stay in Davis WV - Clean modern, friendly. Close to Canaan valley and everyone was happy on site including customers around me
- John (8/5): - Putt Putt course opened after checkout time.
A non-refundable "deposit" for pet, unknown when making reservation. Should that not be "charge" for pets? And Stated in the Expedia reservations?
Check out clerk was great! Ran after us when leaving the parking lot returning a cell phone left behind.
