- Larry (10/5): - nice
- Judith (10/5): - NO hooks or handle for towels. Very inconvenient.
The place is clean well-kept and pleasantly deodorize.
The manager is very accommodating for a very late check in.
- Sherrye (8/5): - There were beautiful plants blooming all around. Facilities need an update.
- Lisa (10/5): - Old time ground floor hotel/motel. Easy parking, quiet, great staff at check-in, nice outdoor seating area, easy to locate.
- Dennis (10/5): Visit to family - Great place to stay ! Small town motel with great staff. Clean rooms! I had a rocking chair and recliner in my room. Will definitely stay here again!
- Kopen (8/5): Great Retro Feel - Quick check-in. Room was very retro, but if thats the vibe you want on your Route 66 trip, this place is great. Great price, would stay again!
- Dylan (10/5): - Very clean , polite staff , very quick and easy check in !

- Kristin (6/5): - I was impressed by the plant/vine growing from a pot at the check-in window all the way down the hallway and back!
- Amber (2/5): - Stay there for additionally, 2 nights.Thought we could always watch TV.No, no cable TV no TV period
It was pretty horrible.Stay so try to get my money back through pulse app and hotel with no luck.Don't expect to use either again
- christy (10/5): - Great place to stay while in carlinville. Very nice owners. Will stay there again
- Vallori (10/5): - We stayed her for an event and it was close to town just what we needed. The property is older and could use some updating, but it was clean the bed was comfortable and the rooms a very large. I didn't hear the neighbors or doors closing all night like most chain hotels. We parked right in front of our window and had no issues with anything.
- Curtis (10/5): - The manager was very nice, It was clean and quiet. I would stay again.
- Abigail (8/5): - This was a very needed stay, property let me in my room BEFORE check in when they found out I’ve been stranded and needed a place to stay. They had no problem with assisting me my room when I arrived on foot. Easy process & Cheap Stay $
- Teresa (6/5): Old but clean - The people who operate the motel were super nice. They respond quickly. They are more than willing to help. The motel is dated but quiet and comfortable. The problem was with the bathroom. The toilet was right beside the wall. The tub was slippery. My husband fell. Dangerous for us as an older couple. Otherwise a nice stay.
- Michael (2/5): - Room was unhealthy - moldy and damp. Dingy. Request a refund. We did not check in.
- Tammy (2/5): - We had no running water from about 12:00 at night till the time we left we couldn't even take a shower in the morning or flush the toilet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Large, clean, affordable room. While clearly an older facility based on decor and furnishings it did NOT have the tell tale smell of similarly old places. Easy access parking. Would stay again.
- John (10/5): - This is an older property with older furnishings but I just loved the vibe. Had kind of a retro 1950s throwback feel. Room was very spacious and good value for the money. Really enjoyed my stay.
- Jade (10/5): - Awesome
- Lance (4/5): - Very outdated property and rooms.
- Kelly (4/5): - Everything was so old and battered. The smell was musty and stale. For the money there was no value. It is no wonder there are no refunds, because I would have left as soon as I saw the room. The TV was very low rent.
- Brenda (10/5): I highly recommend this Motel! - I had a very pleasant stay at Carlinvilla ! Check in was fast and easy! They made sure I was comfortable with my room and I feel they went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant. Room was clean and I will for sure be going back. Thank you, great service!
- Robert (10/5): - Great motel. Very clean and convenient with washer/dryer and strong Wi-Fi. The owner is very friendly. We would definitely return .
- Bronwyn (10/5): - Wonderful owners, very clean room and amazing quite location.
- Troy (6/5): - The place felt safe, well lit, everything worked as it should. Staff were pleasant but did speak to them that much. AC was very loud, kept kicking off and on a lot, like it could not keep up. Room looked like it was from the 70 with just a little Route 66 decor. Had a rocking chair, I liked. Had a stuff chair with bright red cover over it. Bathtub faucet pipe was sticking out away from the wall 4 inches, like you could see four inches of pipe. No usb ports in room and if you hit the lights the outlets around the bed shut off so you can use them for charges. Had an ice machine and coffe in the lobby which I liked. The entire property needs updated. But with all that said, not a bad place to stay for low cost. It might have been out of date, dog scratches on the door, but it was clean.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Great old school motel off the beaten path (even for Route 66 travelers) with good service. Definitely not modern in decor, but has solid amenities (refrigerator in our room, laundry) and pretty easy access to dinner options.
- Nathan C (10/5): - Without a doubt, if it was not the best, it was definitely close to the best privately & family owned (non-chain motels) that we have stayed.
- Patrick (10/5): - Charming local motel, clean, quiet & good basic service accomodations.
- Kim (6/5): - To much controlling and rude and head games
- Dan (10/5): - The room was clean and neat. Perfect for what we needed. Saves driving 1/2 hour to the next closest lodging. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return when we are next in Carlinville.
- Susan E (8/5): - The Carlin Villa was a small, clean, comfortable, and affordable motel that celebrated being on the original Rt. 66 road. It was convenient to town and shopping and restaurants without being IN town. It has a lovely outdoor picnic area. We would stay there again.
- Brian (8/5): - Quaint rustic mom and pop off the beaten path hotel.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - A nice, quiet place, a bit off the beaten path. I was looking for a place to stay before the eclipse, and here they were, not too far away, not charging ridiculous prices, and well worth the money!
- Justin (10/5): - Our stay was excellent!
- Ashley (8/5): - Cute and quiet motel
- Les (8/5): - Clean, quiet and comfortable. Owner was very accommodating when we had a health-related cancellation. Continental Breakfast selection was poor.
- Larry (8/5): - Location was convenient for my purposes and access for my boat was fine.
- Michael (10/5): - Comfortable place to stay. The staff was very accommodating.
- Britni (10/5): - We were very skeptical when booking for one wedding night. Honestly, it was way less sketchy than we'd anticipated.
The gal at the front desk was INCREDIBLE and I immediately felt like we'd made a good choice. We had a king room in the back of the far west building and it was very quiet, overlooking a pond. The building and rooms are very outdated and in need of remodeling, HOWEVER: our room and the building were very clean, homey, and perfect!
I truly would stay here again if ever in the area. I definitely give it an overall score of 5/5.
- Troy (8/5): - Friendly staff. Good location
- Scott (10/5): - Great place to spend the night. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Room was spacious and clean.
Thank you for a great experience!
- Timothy (10/5): - The owners are very friendly
- Steven (6/5): - This motel needs lots of maintenance. Several signs saying to do this or not do that to make things work. It's very dated. Looks like 60's decor. This was probably a very nice motel 30 years ago. Breakfast was a pot of coffee and little packaged cupcakes.
There was plenty of hot water and the AC worked fine but was a loud window unit stuck in the wall. The folks running the place were very nice and when I asked for a hair dryer, they immediately provided one bringing it to my room. I liked Carlinville. Great pizza place north of the square, etc. but I don't think I'd stay in the Carlin Villa again.
- Doreen (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. Check in was fast the motel, was quiet, nostalgic and well kept.
- Tresea (8/5): Good Stay - My stay was good. It was easy to locate, clean and staff was friendly.
- Allison (10/5): Great Stay! - We had a great stay! Came to town for a late concert and decided to stay for the evening then drive home the following morning. We checked in at almost midnight and the gentleman was still in the office to greet us. Our room was quaint but exactly as the pictures showed. Very clean and we slept well. Would highly recommend staying here.
- Christina (8/5): - While the decor is extremely dated, it was clean and adequate for my needs.
- Donald (8/5): - Love the location, close to family and friends .
- Clarence (2/5): - Extremely old and dirty looking. Outdated Acs and heating systems. Hard and uncomfortable beds.
- Gary (10/5): - It was a clean comfortable room.
- Daniel (10/5): - Inexpensive, clean, motel
- Karen (10/5): - Owner was very nice and helpful. Rooms were clean and well-kept. Everything met our expectations.
- Lori (10/5): - A quaint and charming motel. Not fancy but comfortable Nostalgic of old school motels.
- Daniel (8/5): - I always stay here when visiting my mother. It is a clean, quiet and convenient place to stay.
- Eduards (8/5): - A great old school motel that had a lot of character with Route 66 memorabilia.
Breakfast could be improved.
- James (10/5): Wonderful!!! - Absolutely wonderful! I knew it was an older hotel and I think the picture represent the establishment well. The lady who checked me in was so nice and explained everything, had the heat on and waiting for us! We only stayed one night, in town for softball. Everything was really clean! We stay in hotels close to every weekend the majority of the year. This was more clean than most of the big name hotels we’ve been to the last couple years. Very pleased! Will return if ever in the area again!!!
- Hallie (10/5): - Clean and cozy. Could use some cosmetic updates, but overall great for the price and location. Our room was huge and the staff was pleasant and helpful.
- Nancy (10/5): - Everyone was kind efficient and rooms were clean and comfortable!
- Dawn (10/5): - The bedding, towels, etc.were clean.
However, there were a few dead bugs on the bathroom floor, carpet was faded in spots, wood finish on mirror was worn off; bare wood, some wallpaper starting to peel, and outside needs work. Lots of weeds need to be pulled, needs mulch or stone added outside by entrances & in courtyard areas. The place seems like it is not being kept up with.
- Tom (8/5): - Older motel. staff was friendly, and helpful. Good value for the price. Restaurant across the street was very good for dinner.
- Janell (10/5): - Large room, super clean with great AC. Convenient to town and very quiet. Wonderful staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great time in Carlinville - Great welcoming , the owner is very gentle and helpful.
- Pam (10/5): - I stayed at Carlin Villa in May of 2022. It was a totally enjoyable experience. My room was not new & modern looking but it wasn't meant to be. The room decor was a throw-back to the historic Route 66 days. I even had a key to enter the room! There were still the amenities of a small frig, microwave, writing desk, TV, wifi. My room had a comfortable couch and chair, also. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. There were plenty and easily accessible electric outlets, too. Although I did not eat breakfast there, I did notice the decor in the breakfast area. I loved it! It had a fireplace and seating around it that reminded me of a Danny Kaye or Bing Crosby movie set. I just loved the feel of the place. I recommend Carlin Villa Motel.
- Mary (10/5): - Super cute!! Friendly staff.
- Eric (10/5): - Room furniture needs updated.
- Brad (6/5): - Searched beds on arrival and had to kill.several bed bugs. Pillows are so small it's like not even having one
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I wanted something homey and comfortable and welcoming and I got it here. My son & I stayed at a sterile, cold, brightly lit chain hotel for his college orientation in July and I wanted the opposite for dropping him off at college. Carlin Vila Motel is clean, comfortable, quaint and the people who run it are extremely friendly and helpful. Will be choose Carlin Villa Motel again.
- Paul (10/5): - Clean friendly staff, slept well, old school. Would recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Solo traveler - Clean, Comfortable, Excellent Service
Great deal for the money!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was a small cheap property, but the only one in town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great, thanks
- Diana (8/5): - Clean property. Have used this location several times
- Dk (8/5): - Had a ice machine. Parking with a boat near our room was difficult. Made it hard to get things to our room.
- Adriana (6/5): Good rest - After a long day of work, everything seemed to be ok
- Jeff (8/5): - It is a little out dated, but it served the purpose. Nice people that run it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close and comfortable - It’s clean and comfortable. Plenty of room nice little “living room “ area and simple breakfast. I liked it. er close to town.
- Janice (8/5): - Had a good stay, will stay everytime we are in Carlinville, IL. Rooms were clean, front desk lady was pleasant when checking in. Only complaint i would have is not having a blow dryer, and no hooks in bathroom to hang clothes when showering. Also wish the pool and hot tub was available (something to do with kids)
- Gary (8/5): Old Motel, convenient location, good night's sleep - The Carlin Villa has been around for a mighty long time. It shows its age, but is clean and comfortable and well maintained. The bathroom could be better. No grab bars in the tub, and the toilet seat was uncomfortably close against the wall. The soda machine was either empty or broken, couldn't tell which. On the plus side, the room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the TV was large and the motel was quiet. We got the restful night we wanted and will stay there again sometime.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Older bldg but kept up pretty well. Large room, very spacious. Large bathroom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good stay. Staff was good. Very clean. Ran out of coffee.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property was clean. Staff was friendly.
Property needs repairs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good experience will stay again. Could use more plugs in vanity area. Microwave or fridge had to be unplugged to use hair dryer.
