Guest Reviews
- Steven (9/5): Good location. - Good room with good views. Completely drinks and snacks. Hot spa pool. Nothing all was good.
- Camila (6/5): - Really close to the station with a small hill to climb. Free beverages almost the whole day including alcohol and also some snacks. I had the Onsen experience (150 obligatory fee per person per night) with it for myself only, really nice with the trees and hill outside and they explain how to use it. Nice view to the hills. They were really kind to accommodate us to stay for one more night after I mistakenly got a gap on my bookings. Pillow was really thin, and really bright room in the morning (but it seems usual to Japan to not have a very dark room). Not double glazing windows, the heater did its job but quite cold in the room without it and it's spring.
Not the hotel's fault but not a lot open at the town.

- Danny (6/5): Location was good but would not stay again. - Breakfast was ok or a set meal. Room was spacious. Breakfast- not enough options. We could’ve just taken what we wanted instead of wasting what we didn’t like/eat.
Also, when we got into the room, there was a card notifying us that they were stink bugs and lady bugs and we could go to the front desk and get tape or insect spray to get rid of them.
- Marianna (3/5): - Very old hotel room, the beds were very old and not comfortable, not super clean.
- Gregoire (9/5): -
- Fai Kin (10/5): -
- Lemon (8/5): Hot springs are excellent - The hot springs are excellent, and the lounge offers complimentary snacks and drinks, which is a major plus, allowing you to relax and enjoy yourself. The facilities are a bit old, and the water pressure in the bathroom of the guest room is insufficient.

- Mario (3/5): Pessimo rapporto qualità prezzo Non consigliabile - Purtroppo nulla.
- Mari Francis (10/5): - La habitación, desayuno y ubicación No había nadie en recepción cuando iba a hacer el check in y tampoco al hacer el check out

- Simon (10/5): Fantastic - Location and staff Nothing
- Ju CHI (10/5): -

- H (1/5): Never stay there! - Only the their breakfast is decent. The public batch was terrible. The place covered with molds, the water was dirty, it was like an abandoned place.
- Casul (10/5): -
- Lenie (9/5): - The view
- Ryan (7/5): Great if you want a convenient, onsen stay but maybe not worth the money for just that. - Great location - easily walkable from the train station. The onsen was empty and very clean - I especially enjoyed the outdoor location. The rooms were definitely spartan. The beds felt extremely cheap (you could feel the springs) and the light by the bed was a cheap clamp-on lamp.

- Glenda (8/5): Great location, more traditional Japanese style, but fine for english speaking guests - Easy check in/out, free lounge facility with snacks and drinks, instructions written in English also was helpful Nothing - it was a pleasant, comfortable stay.
- HUI LI (9/5): - Free lounge was amazing
- Natalia (10/5): - Very comfortable and extremely convenient location. Great amenities, comfortable futons, access to private onsen and free drinks and snacks. I really loved staying here.
- Yukiko (6/5): -
- Alessandro (8/5): -
- Aknanny (6/5): Pleasant enough, but not sure we would return - Great location, plenty of space, clean The smell, didn't realize breakfast was book in advance, rooms booked weren't next to each other
- Maribel (6/5): Pleasant - im comportable to sleep.because the bed is soft spa
- Brian (10/5): - Great spot with nice views. Free drinks and snacks. Has a Onsen built into the hotel.
- Jan (8/5): Very good -
- S (9/5): Very convenient for the train, nice enough rooms and FREE GIN! - The hotel had a lovely clean room with a view of gardens behind. It was clean and I found the bed comfy. Because it was winter there was an extra gas heater and this got the room to a toasty temperature very quickly. Rather fantastically the hotel lounge had FREE, yes free, Gin and Saki and soft drinks from 3-12pm, every day. Along with snacks. If there was comfy chairs in that lounge it would have been perfect - there was even a nice view of the sunset. The onsen (which you have to pay extra Y150 per night, but that is the Gov rules - not the hotel) was cute, with a nice rock -lined outdoor pool.
It is a VERY short walk to the train station, but if you are going for skiing you will need to get a but up into the hills every day, which I knew beforehand. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great. I was a little lonely, but that is my fault for going at the end of the season. If there are too few guest they set a table of food for you at breakfast rather than a buffet, and I didn't eat everything so I was worried about it being a waste of food.
- Brian (9/5): Superb - Loved the mountainous area. Visited the monkeys. Guess it would be brilliant in the snow season for skiing. Our stay was great. Loved the Onsen and the breakfast was fabulous.
- Kiyoko (6/5): - No towel at the basin. Poor design at the room entrance; you have to stretch your leg to go to the bathroom and basin.
- James (10/5): - Nice calm place with a great onsen and bar!
- Jenna (7/5): Good -
- Lisa (10/5): Great break in the mountains - Super easy to find, a short walk from the station. There were free pastries and drinks available on arrival. Later on, there seemed to be free alcoholic drinks and snacks available in the dining room. It was help yourself with no staff in sight...unless I misunderstood something?!? The hotel and room had a great view of the town and surrounding mountains and was easy to reach from both the snow monkey park and Nagano. The room was very large and futon beds were comfortable. We also tried the onsen, which was great and completely empty! We tried to gave dinner there but were told we had to have reserved ahead of time. Not sure how we would have done that.
- Liam (10/5): - Only one night stay but can’t complain and was able to store my bags there after check out while I went to the snow monkeys which was a great bonus.
- Mat (8/5): Very happy - Very close to the train station, only a couple of minutes walk.
Our 5th floor room had a great view out over the town.
The onsen was clean and quiet.
The free snacks and drinks in the lounger felt generous.
They let us store our luggage safely while we went to the monkey park.
- Tallie (9/5): Superb - Very easy to get to from the station. The breakfast and dinner exceeded my expectations. Everything was delicious. The rooms are very very spacious with a lovely view of the area and mountains.
- Peiqin (10/5): Exceptional - Location was good, about 25 minutes drive to the ski slopes and 10 minutes drive to the town.
They provided ample wide variety of drinks to unwind after the hitting the slopes. The lounge is fitted with camping furniture. The pillow could be improved and the seats in the lounge could be more comfortable.
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Easy access from the train station. Great lobby facilities. Hot spring needs scrubbing, but they were still fantastic
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Schalk (7/5): Good -
- Natasha (8/5): Very good -
- Roland (8/5): Very good -
- Emille (5/5): Passable -
- Justin (9/5): Superb -
- David (9/5): Good stay in lovely town. - Nice staff, lovely outside onsen, near station, free drinks and snacks. Good size room, good facilities. Limited drinks supplied in room, that is it really nice place to stay, little bit old n dated in places, but adds to charm.
- Rick (7/5): Wonderful Japanese staff and very convenient. - Great breakfasts, great onsen, convenient bus to ski resorts, great afternoon free snacks and alcohol (big bonus), close proximity to train station and bus station (300 metres). Plenty of basic eateries. Fantastic Lawsons convenience store for food and drinks. The room I was given (508) was very substandard and uncomfortable especially as I stayed 9 days. I saw into many other rooms which were far larger and more comfortable. There was nowhere to sit except on the beds. The heads of the 2 single beds were pushed under a solid timber shelf making it easy to hit your head. There were no reading lamps and the ceiling light was at the other end of the room.
The biggest complaint was the very excessive cost of a spontaneous dinner on arrival. Crazy cost! We had not booked so they charged us A$80 for a quick meal. Local eateries charge about a half to a third of this. Needless to say, I/we went elsewhere for all dinners. These issues can be easily addressed. We are definitely booking into the property for next ski season because it has so much to offer, especially for skiers seeking value, amenities and convenience.
- Brain (4/5): Who charges for a set of extra sheets? - Why did I have to pay for extra sheets. Great location but due for an upgrade. Toilets were old with new seats. Flash back to the 70s. Will not recommend to anyone for that. Bed are hard as a rock. I woke up each night about four times due to how hard they were. I hiked 8km with a 20kio kid who wanted up and down every five steps. I was tired but still woke up. Next o was charged 1000 yen for another set of sheet for that same kid. In booking I booked with him and was told yes he is included but not the sheets. WTF. They were sheets for the futon that was allready in the room. You have towles to had out like crazy and robes but not sheets. That one thing made me want to leave. Never had to pay for extra sheets before. Most times I get the free extra futon or rollaway bed.
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - The onsen was great, the free beer, coffee and other drinks in the lounge each day was amazing.
Room had a nice outlook.
Close to a huge range of ski resorts to choose from.
Nice restaurants and a Lawson in easy walking distance in the evenings.
The breakfast was kind of expensive but a good range of delicious western and Japanese food available. No English tea available though so BYO if you can't live without a cuppa! Only one very small, squishy pillow provided and none more could be obtained from reception - which I couldn't quite understand. What sort of hotel has zero extra pillows available?
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Maxima (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (7/5): Good - free beer and snacks in the lounge dinner was hard to find
the hotel offered dinner but we did not/could not reserve dinner
beds were a bit firm and limited pillows.
could of asked for more pillows but never got around to it.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Joshua (9/5): Superb -
- Mohamad (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): - The rooms had a classic "Showa era" style, which gave them a great atmosphere, and were quite spacious for two people. The onsen was on the small side but clean and nice, with a pretty outdoor area. There was a lounge area with free drinks, nuts, and dried fruit. It was a decent value. I'd stay there again.
- Yoshie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (10/5): Good location for skiing and snow monkeys - Great place, had a very comfortable stay. Good onsen and complimentary drinks and snacks. Ideal for skiing Shiga kogen or Nozawa onsen. Perfect for the snow monkeys. Will visit again.
- Yuri (9/5): Superb -
- Antonina (7/5): Good - Onsen, lounge, location close to the station and 30 minutes drive to Shigakogen ski area, 6 minutes drive to see a snow monkey. Pillows, beds, small bedrooms.
- Yong (10/5): we will go this hotel again . - it was so good I like the lounge drinks for free , Beer wind , sake
- Estelle (10/5): Amazing room close to station - Spacious room, very clean, comfortable, with view on the mountains. The indoor and outdoor onsens are amazing.
2min walk from the station so it’s very convenient. Everything perfect.
- Richard (10/5): A brilliant stay - An exceptional place to stay. Fabulous location. The onsen was amazing - we each had an onsen morning & evening. Brilliant afternoon drinks buffet all inclusive. A perfect place to stay and explore the slopes. Nothing
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yi (7/5): Good -
- King (8/5): Good deal - Fabulous Dinner
Great onsen
Great customer service
Free Lough

- Eileen (8/5): Very good -
- Eileen (8/5): Very good -
- Middle2hyz (8/5): Very good - The staff is really nice person! they help us a lot when we get off the bus at a wrong station (middle of nowhere)
Without them we would have to go back to Nagano😭
The Onsen is great and the room is clean and warm, and the lounge is really cozy and beautiful.
Definitely recommending this hotel!
- Paul (8/5): Extremely enjoyable - The exceptional breakfasts served to us in a private room. The helpful manager and staff. The delightful onsen. The fact that it was off season and quiet. We had on site parking and easy access to the snow monkey park and mountains resorts. The hotel is showing its age and the bathrooms could do with some updating.
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - close to the train station. not many varieties of breakfast.
- Carola (9/5): Superb - friendly staff, comfy and spacious room, faboulous onsen (even with outdoor pool!), great location near station, also good starting point to a beautiful hike to Snow Monkey Park
- Mayukh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Albert (7/5): Hotel is same as my last visit 4 years ago with friendly and helpful staff and Japanese breakfast. - the breakfast, onsen and hotel location. Unable to arrange dinner for all 4 nights
- Arya (8/5): amazing stay - very close to Yudanaka Station and many food options nearby
