- Eoin (10/5): Honeymoon Stay with the Warmest Hospitality and Incredible Homemade Breakfast - The Potting Shed is an amazing guest house in Hermanus. From the moment we arrived, Doreen came out to greet us and brought us to reception where we were welcomed with iced tea. She talked us through everything we needed to know about the property and gave us a map of the town with great recommendations for places to visit and walks to do. We stayed in Room 4 and it was incredible so spacious, with a patio area and BBQ facilities. The room and bathroom had a gorgeous indoor-outdoor feel and we even took photos for inspiration for our own home renovation. The whole room had such a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast the following morning was outstanding. One of us is coeliac and the range of options available was brilliant. Everything is freshly homemade and the banana muffins were straight out of the oven, honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. Annmarie (the owner) even offered to make the pancakes gluten free without hesitation. We’re still dreaming about that breakfast! We were staying as part of our honeymoon and the breakfast table the next morning was decorated with a “Just Married” banner, white linen, love hearts and an ice bucket with Appletiser and champagne glasses, such a thoughtful touch. When we were leaving, Annmarie met us in reception with muffins to take away for the drive, which were perfect with our coffee stop later that morning. She even shared the recipe with us. If you’re staying in Hermanus, don’t overlook this guesthouse. The hospitality is second to none and we can’t wait to return and stay longer next time.

- Thorsten (8/5): - Hervorragendes Frühstück. Sehr liebenswerte Gastgeber. Wir haben in einem sehr schönen, großen Zimmer mit toller Ausstattung übernachtet. Sicheres Parken hinter dem Haus. Alles ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Es war sehr warm im Zimmer. Die Klimaanlage hat zwar geholfen, braucht aber recht lange, um den Raum zu kühlen und ist recht laut. Ab ca. 5 Uhr morgens hörte man den Straßenlärm der naheliegenden großen Straße leider recht deutlich.

Es war uns zu warm im Zimmer. In der Nachbarschaft gibt es einige sehr nervige Hunde die durch ständiges Bellen den Gesamteindruck schmälern.

Das Frühstück war mit viel Liebe angerichtet und wirklich köstlich. Es wurde im Vorfeld nach Wünschen und Allergien/Unverträglichkeiten gefragt und man sollte eine Mahlzeit auswählen, dazu gab es am nächsten Tag ein kleines Buffet, an dem alles was man brauchte zu finden war, einfach ganz toll angerichtet.

- Rob (10/5): A wonderful guesthouse conveniently situated to enjoy Hermanus' many attractions! - A lovely warm greeting from the house-keeper Doreen when we arrived plus the offer of a very welcome iced tea after a long drive set the tone for our visit. The Potting Shed is a very personable place to stay and a reflection of the personalities of the owners Annamarie and Dave. Our room, bathroom and pretty private outside courtyard were of the highest standard with a really comfortable bed and pillows and crisp fresh linen. The sizeable bathroom was well stocked with shampoo and soap and had a great shower - although we were aware of how precious water was here in SA so used the shower with care. Breakfast was varied, generous and tasty - hot and cold choices - and cooked fresh to our liking. Nothing seemed too much trouble for our hosts and their friendly and engaging staff. Lovely touches were filtered bottled water in our room and a choice of homemade infused water at breakfast. Bread was baked daily for the breakfast table - nice one! A 20 minute or so walk got you into Hermanus town during the day where there were so many places to eat and drink and shop. A cab back at night is advised but the area is very safe to walk around. We enjoyed Fusion down on the waterfront for food and drinks - very friendly. The chatty manager even organised a cab back for us. A morning walk along the new(wish) coastal path is a must. And if you do walk it you must stop for lunch at Dutchies beach bar and restaurant. Great setting and equally great food and drinks offering. You can join this path only a few minutes from the Potting Shed or in town. Doreen will tell you how to get there! Happy to recommend this homely, family guesthouse. There was nothing here to disappoint!

Man merkt, dass dieser Ort mit ganz viel Liebe gestaltet wurde. Das Frühstück wird in einem gemütlichen Gemeinschaftsraum serviert. Annamarie und Dave bereiten das Essen selbst zu, es gibt selbstgemachte Marmelade, Brot, Obst, Pancakes. Sehr familiär. Würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen! Alles prima :)

- Andrew (9/5): A little gem of a place, compact, peaceful and friendly. - The welcome and friendliness of the husband and wife team was excellent. The accommodation, although modest, demonstrated good attention to detail, ensuring everything a traveller might need was on hand. Again, breakfast offered many options, including freshly cooked 'Full English' if required. Our room was on the smaller side, but there were larger ones available too, assumably at a higher rate. The pool area was small but welcome. Car parking 'tight' but safe and we would most certainly return. Everything we wanted, whats not to like?

They were very accommodating when our plans changed. We stayed in 2 different rooms, the smaller rooms are perfect for a short stay, but it's worth upgrading to the larger rooms if you're staying a few nights. - Angelos (4/5): - Our room was small and after cycling from jhb to hermanus the last thing you want is a small room but the biggest dussapointnent was the bathroom door which led right on the basin then you had to close the door to get to toilet which is really not worth saying its 4 star. No aircon and the fan could not cool us down on max. The fact that we had to pay upfront was the worst but now we know why. We will not be coming again its a pity we lost our usual accom. You were the 2nd most expensive place and parking was a huge dissapointment too. This cannot be considered a 4 star place...

- Colette (10/5): The customer service was impeccable! It felt more like I was staying with friends vs at a guest house. - Our room was very clean and comfortable and we felt right at home. The location was perfect and an easy walk into town. All the staff were wonderful and friendly. The driveway and parking is abit tight, so if you have a larger car it can be a struggle to park.

- Lieke (10/5): Fantastisch!! - Ik vond de mensen heel lief! Er was een zwembad! De bedden sliepen heerlijk! En het ontbijt was echt 10/10. Vers fruit, keuze uit gebakken eitjes of pannekoek met alles erop en eraan. Zelf gebakken blueberry muffins, koffie/ thee. 5min lopen naar het strand. De mensen waren super lief, en je ziet dat ze dit werk met passie doen! Ik zou dit iedereen aanraden!! De wifi viel soms weg, maar dat was ook het enige.

- Lena (10/5): Schöne Tage in Hermanus - Dave und Annamarie sind sehr herzliche Gastgeber, die uns viele Tipps gegeben und kurzfristig für uns noch eine Whale Watching Tour gebucht haben. Das Frühstück ist hervorragend. Es gibt selbstgemachte Marmeladen, frisch gebackenes Brot und frisch zubereitete Pancakes. Die Zimmer sind recht klein, aber für einen kurzen Aufenthalt auf jeden Fall ausreichend.

- Katharina (10/5): Tolle familiäre Unterkunft mit leckerem Frühstück - Sehr leckeres, frisch zubereitetes Frühstück in einem sehr schön gestalteten Frühstücksraum. Das war wirklich ein Highlight. Ansonsten war unser Zimmer sauber und die Poolanlage war auch gepflegt und einladend. Bei einem nächsten Besuch von Hermanus würden wir die Umterkunft auf jeden Fall wieder buchen. Zimmer etwas klein, aber für eine Nacht völlig ausreichend.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Liz and dave hermanus - The bedrooms were very comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Anna Marie sorted a table out for us at an excellent restaurant. The plunge pool was an asset. Nice touch to offer iced tea which was delicious on arrival. A glass of fresh orange juice at breakfast would have been appreciated. The drive way was a little narrow so use caution!
- Kirstin (9/5): Tolles B&B zum Übernachten für 1-2 Tage - Super liebevoll eingerichtete Zimmer und super nette Gastgeber. Kurzer Weg zum Strand und eine nette Promenade zum verweilen.
- Daniel (10/5): - Wir waren für zwei Nächte im Potting Shed Guest House und haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Unterkunft wird von den Eigentümern selbst geführt, die sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend sind. Unser Zimmer war geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Zwar gibt es keine Klimaanlage, dafür aber einen Deckenventilator, der vollkommen ausreicht. Das Frühstück war liebevoll zubereitet und sehr lecker. Die Lage ist ebenfalls ideal – die Innenstadt bzw. Promenade ist in etwa 10–15 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Wir können das Guest House absolut weiterempfehlen und würden jederzeit wieder dort buchen. .
