Guest Reviews
- Ramasela Florence (7/5): To be revisited - Everyone and everything Nothing
- Michael (4/5): Very disappointed- what is presented on Booking.com and what set my expectations we diametrically opposed. were - Only the views! Not much to say here. It pains me to say the pictures on booking.com look great but the place is a building site, under renovation,
Shower was old and had mildew on old
Silicone Sealer and tile grout. No pathway lighting to guide the way to rooms at night. Place is under renovation and old furnishings visible in court yards.
- Clare (8/5): - It was a very splendid experience. The staff and food were exceptionally good. The cottage was beautiful, However, in need of a few repairs. The main door had gaps at the bottom, leaving clients slightly vulnerable to little reptiles and big flies. Otherwise, it was a beautiful place to visit and spend a few good days đ Gaps at the bottom of the main door to my cottage.
- Lillian (5/5): - Needs TLC No wheel chair facilities
- Petra (7/5): -
- Londiwe (7/5): -
- Olivier (4/5): neglected building with friendly owner and staff. - nature food and wine In dire need of restoration
- Andreas (8/5): -
- Anria (10/5): Will be back again - Everything
- Fundi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nelphi01 (4/5): Disappointing - Beautiful Gardens. We were moved to a different room after being checked in and unpacking, as we were apparently put into the wrong room. The room we were moved into was significantly lower in standard, smaller and had a shared bathroom. Other rooms were not clean and needed to be cleaned after checking in.
- Caitlin (6/5): Be careful - it could go either way - The staff were friendly and very helpful. The pool and garden were beautiful. The restaurant has a beautiful view, is well priced and the food was good. The staff were apologetic about the issues we experienced and did give us a lovely gift. This guest house has a lot of potential but a lot of rough edges. We booked 3 rooms and had the following issues
- Bad quality dirt roads (and poor directions) which was not ideal in a hired car
- One room (room 7) was located next to a staff canteen or something similar so resting during a weekday was not possible due to the noise. This was not an issue on the weekend.
- One room (room 6) had no hot water for 2 nights
- The patio chair for room 8 was missing a screw and broke when my father sat on it leaving him to fall.
- The restaurant menu was very nice, however there was no chicken available when we tried to have lunch there.
- The info pack in the room said breakfast was served from 8. Reception confirmed this. The restaurant was not open no one knew what time it was supposed to open until the chef arrived at 08.30. This would not have been a problem had that been communicated.
Honestly I think this could be a great place to stay but I see a lot of repeat issues in the reviews.
- Martin (9/5): Overall a pleasant stay. - Location is good, nice gardens and surrounding grounds Parts of the rooms were in slight disrepair, there are activities to generally upgrade the establishment however.
- Albert (8/5): Very nice venue, busy with nice expansions so will be even better soon im sure. Best in the area! - very nice place, will certainly return on next trip. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Staff felt having their staff meeting during breakfast time was more important than their actual paying customers getting breakfast, so couldnt have breakfast due to this on second day. Also was told restaurant opens at 7am, first day it only opened 7:40 and second day no idea.
- Isobel (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (4/5): Disappointing -
- Juliette (2/5): Very poor -
- Marcus (8/5): May well stay again next year. - I left early. But they prepared me a nice breakfast pack to take away.
- Michele (8/5): Very good -
- Monique (8/5): Lovely wine estate - There are renovations which is a bit disturbing. There should also be bathroom facilities at the pool. Very beautiful voews at the pool area. Staff nice and friendly.
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teboho (5/5): Passable - Breakfast was outstanding. Very tasty and the portion was quite generous. I look forward to visiting after the renovations have been completed
- Kelsey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (3/5): I wouldnât recommend this establishment to a friend - The sunset views were lovely 1. The rooms werenât clean
2. Fought off mosquito most part of the night
3. Never got to wine taste when I had arrived. Two staff told me different closing time so I missed out. Never mind as I was being told time is up, there are some guests that were still being served.
4. While watching sunset, I ordered tea. It was not served & no one bothered.
- Reshandran (8/5): - -
- Ashford (8/5): Very good -
- Johan (6/5): QUITE OK BUT NOT GREAT - OVERALL VERY NICE. THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. NICE ENGLISH BREAKFAST INCLUDED WHICH
WAS ENJOYED OUTSIDE WITH BEAUTIFUL VIEWS. NO KETTLE IN THE ROOM ALTHOUGH THE USUAL COFFEE ETC WAS AVAILABLE
DOORS ARE SCREECHING
POOR DIRECTIVES TO THE ACCOMMODATION
POOR PARKING FACILITIES AT ACCOMMODATION
- Callie (1/5): not worth - Breakfast and location Door could not lock .Safe did not work.Lights old and did not work well.Building old and not well maintained.
Not value for money paid
- Ingo (7/5): Good - Very friendly and helpful staff. The whole estate and also the room needed a bit attention and maintenance. Everything seems to be a bit worn down...
- Mark (1/5): Bad - Nothing We were told that there were renovations in progress but assured that it would not affect our stay, this was not true, the reception was not easily accessible, neither was the accommodation, access has not been trimmed back and barely passable, shower had black mould and our sons room had no hot water. Workers were on site outside our rooms to wake us at 6:50am. We did want to enjoy a wine tasting or a drink, but it was not a comfortable atmosphere due to noise from the work being carried out. There was no restaurant available and the breakfast room was accessible over workers rubble with renovations on going in the same room, we decided it was not a good environment to have breakfast with the smell of drying paint and left. They seriously need to close until the renovations are not intrusive to guests or proper explinations, and appropriate discounts are in place. Overall, an extremely disappointing stay and a total waste of money and after these issues were raised with staff, there was no apology offered.
It was a total waste of time and money and completely spoilt our trip.
- Magee (8/5): Always a pleasure. One of my favourite places when we come to South Africa. - Staff here always go above and beyond, there are a fantastic team who work together here.
The estate itself is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and spotless. When we had breakfaat tthe first time we stayed the food was cooked just right with lots of variety. Wine tastings were unavailable due to the maintenance works. This could not be helped but we were informed quickly when we arrived so we got lunch elsewhere.
- Hamman (2/5): Not up to standard - There was so many renovations going on, it was really not nice for anybody to stay there. We were made to sit with other people at breakfast.
I understand about the renovations going on, but then rather close down for that time period, it will do more harm tham good to continue to let people stay there.
- Clinton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaco (4/5): Disappointing - Branches form trees overhanging on the the roof of the room I stayed in made a screeching noise when the wind blew. Roof sheets were also loose and banged on each other. Couldn't sleep. Cups and tea in room without a kettle?
- Janet (8/5): Very good -
- Aileen (9/5): A lovely stay in a peaceful setting with delicious wine! - The property is wonderful and large enough for a lovely walk around before breakfast. The complimentary wine tasting was an excellent surprise! When I had made the booking it would have been better to make it clear that the restaurant is closed on a Monday and Tuesday for dinner. It would have been nice to have a few more options for breakfast
- Riana (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joshua (2/5): Very poor -
- Tiffany (7/5): Good -
- Alex (9/5): Superb - The staff were lovely and incredibly friendly. We had a really nice relaxing afternoon by the pool and thoroughly enjoyed lunch at the restaurant. We were there for an event so didnt spend too much time at the venue itself.
The staff were even kind enough to lend us their only iron. Nothing, we had a great stay and met all our expectations.
- Sinead (5/5): The place needs maintenance. - The food was excellent! The room was very basic for the price. No tv and just a kettle. Iv stayed at other places for a more affordable price with a tv etc. We could hear the room next door talking.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cynthia (8/5): Very good -
- Flint (9/5): Superb -
- Gregory (5/5): Passable - Peaceful The entire place is in need of some TLC
Place could have been cleaned better.
No food available as the restaurant was closed.
- Gail (8/5): Lovely surprise at the size of the cottage, could relax and enjoy the views. - The accommodation was very roomy and comfortable. We didnât realise we would be in a cottage which was fantastic Needed a little maintenance
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Petrus (9/5): Great value for koney - Nice breakfast!
- Rhylda (9/5): Really very nice place but not what we need at the time - Quiet and peaceful
- Pina (7/5): Good - The property is lovely and peaceful We were sadly not informed that there would be no dinner on Sunday night and were two ladies alone on the farm with no one to talk to or ask about anything as there was no staff left on the farm that we could find. There was a dead mouse in the pool on Monday morning that I had to fish out myself đ. The kitchen staff that served us breakfast on Monday morning was wearing a very dirty apron. Over all it is a beautiful place and the staff were really special.
- Hans (10/5): The best place to stay. -
- Jordan (8/5): Very good - Great breakfast, everything you expect both hot and cold.
- Andrew (7/5): Not bad, but not the very best. - The cottage accommodation was very comfortable, quiet and peaceful.
The breakfast was good. We stayed on a Monday night, and the on-site restaurant is not open on a Monday.
There were no bar facilities available to us in the evening.
We bought wine, but there was no corkscrew in the cottage. Strange for a Wine Farm!
No staff to be found in the evening.
- Ken (6/5): Pleasant -
- Adri (10/5): Relaxing experience with beautiful view and surroundings. Would highly recommend. - Lovely Breakfast. Loved the location. Loved the beautiful surroundings and view. Also very satisfied with the dinner.
- Brentin (10/5): An exceptional experience - We enjoyed everything about the property. From checkin, the leisure of the rooms, the breakfast, the scenic gardens.. were absolutely amazing. We should have booked a few more days..
- Charlotte (8/5): We thouroughly enjoyed our stay. - The highlight of our stay were the stunning gardens and swimming pool. I was not expecting this, the gardens were stunning. The cottage was also very cute albeit a little small. The restaurant was a bit of a let-down. The food was very nice, however the setting felt a little disjointed and the service was slow and rather poor.
- Peliswa (2/5): Very poor - Rooms need serious renovations. No bar fridge in the room where temperature was 35 and above. Building and rooms to old. Will never book the place again. Breakfast and wine tasting was the best. Rooms need renovations
- Bongani (7/5): Good - The location and the comfort of the rooms was very good. The swimming pool area could do with some upgrades. The restaurant was very bad, the breakfast essentials were not available and we were told that they had run out of juice and youghurt.
No children facilities in the farm area, our children were bored.
The booking system used in booking.com and what u are told on your arrival are different.
I was under the impression that I was paying for the whole chalet as reflected. However on our arrival we were informed that we had to pay per head.
- William (7/5): The place is amazing and yeah though it wasn't everything I was looking for, i loved it - I liked the people that helped me check in. Very helpful, I think her name is tyna or something like that, the beds were wonderful, rooms were clean. The pool was amazing, the breakfast đ„Ł was awesome, and the stuff there; I loved them. Prince was serving me most of the time. Nature is just on another level. I enjoyed watching grapes fields and some strange đ-like fruits, I am not sure what they are called. It was my first time seeing them. The gate people were helpful and cheerful all the time. I loved them This is not a complain but it could have been better with a small refrigerator inside the rooms, though I had to get help from kitchen team and all the way from main gate .
The other thing; i couldn't get any meal besides breakfast because I think I booked late, but I hoped to at least have a meal on Christmas day, it was an inconvenience going outside to get some meals, a kitchen for the guests would be appreciated,
I would have put a đŻ if u had some activities like horse riding, grape picking, or fishing (maybe provide some fishing rodes?)
Lastly: When I booked, I saw a picture of a piano and was taken by it, I thought I was going to enjoy some piano sound but then the piano was disconnected .
- Danie (8/5): Very good -
- Kathlene (10/5): Awesome - Good service. On time. And delicious. A place where is no stairs. My struggle to go up and down to our room and a bit slippery.
- Angelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonora (10/5): Excellent place. Nice breakfast and wine tasting a bonus - Very efficient security. Nice and friendly staff.
Place nice and fresh. Tidy
Will book it again. Anytime. N/A
- Leoni (9/5): Stay over after function - Beautiful setting and very tranquil Our unit did not have a TV or fridge
Next to us was an open unit for that night that did have a TV.
Also was not given the option if we wanted a shower OR bath.
- Gerhard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christiaan (3/5): Poor - Noisy guest, no parking due to wedding/party
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Chats (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mich (7/5): It was nice - Farm style Breakfast, if you donât eat pork it means you will only eat bread and eggs
- Jennifer (6/5): Would not stay again - poor value for money. - Very nice staff. Grounds were attractive. Easy to find. Property is very tired and needs investment in its facilities. Bath old and repainted yet still had cracks, hot water scarce, windows hard to shut due to age and poor maintenance, curtains stained. Breakfast had limited choice and ran out of basic items, both days the hot breakfast was cold. Swimming pool not clean, towels etc left uncleared from 1 day to the next , only 2 loungers! Felt like the hotel was relying on past success rather than looking to its current and future.
- Yvonne (10/5): Fantastic - Simply awesome
- Jones (9/5): Very nice - No tv in room 12
- Windvogel (8/5): Very good -
- Annelie (8/5): Very good -
- Pine (7/5): Good and beautiful scenery - No menu - just normal eggs, bacon, sausage ec. - nice coffee We booked a lodge for 10 people but there was cutlery for just 6 people? No braai bowls?
- Loreine (8/5): Very good -
- MichĂ© (7/5): Good - Good food at the restaurant, delicious wine tasting, comfortable bed, very friendly staff Room door couldnât lock from inside, hair dryer provided but certain plug to be used for hair dryer not provided so couldnât use the hair dryer
- Desiree (10/5): Even with the drama after my husbands accident on our way to breakfast we will be back. - The staff is exceptional. It must be the culture instilled by the owner. They definitely go the extra mile. My husband slipped and had a nasty fall on the way to breakfast and the care and empathy was palpable. The access to the rooms are difficult especially after the rains. Road is inaccessible and dangerous. Will be great if they can pave or tar the road.
- Kathleen (7/5): Good -
- Gavin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Willie (6/5): Not too bad but could improve on having a shower and a Tv - Breakfast Ok but would settle for more variety Tv in room, parking improved and closet to room
- William (8/5): Very good - Great location
Great staff Lack of electric converters
- Martin (10/5): It was very pleasant - The wild outlook Smart TVs
- Marius (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting Poor road
- Sugden (7/5): Lovely venue, great wine. - The restaurant was very comfortable and the tapas excellent. Our room was very far away from parking and the path was not well lit, but once we were in we were very comfortable. We went for winetasting the next morning and the lady was delightful and the wine good fun. Lovely outlook from the wine-tasting venue. Our room was very far away and the walk back uphill from the restaurant was a bit strenuous.
- Clyde (7/5): Good -
- Nicolette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nienke (9/5): Superb -
- Nicolette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theo (5/5): Dissapointed not to be able to shower, surely that is one of the first things a room should have. - location No shower in my room
- Rob (10/5): We are planning another visit in the near future! - Everything was totally satisfactory, we enjoyed our stay immensely, Nothing at all to metion!
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Lovely farm, friendly and helpful staff, great lunch and breakfast at the restuarant, beautiful wines Booking.com listed an 'hot tub' in the facilaties. This was not available.
- Anja (5/5): Great potential, but needs work - Peace and quiet on the estate
Large property / house
Comfortable beds
Potential to be really luxurious
Free wine tasting included Attention to detail is lacking - little things like cutting board, kitchen wipes were missing
Cleaning is subpar
International touches would be nice like 2 point plugs
Outdated appliances
Outside unkempt
- Kerry (8/5): an exceptional wine farm, run by enthusiastic and passionate staff, who truly love there job, this made our stay very pl - lovely restaurant and wine tasting on the property.
beautiful gardens to wonder around flat tin roofing with no insulation during a rainstorm made it impossible to sleep, loud and cold, also no lounging area to relax in, just a couch in the restaurant
- Craig (9/5): Super work trip at Diemersfontein - The rooms were super with extremely comfortable beds, and blockout curtains. Bese night of sleep I have had in a long time. The guest brochure is also the best brochure that I have seen before. The scented hand and body lotions were a nice touch. The coffee options were sad in the rooms, just instant Nescafe classic. For such a great tea selection, I would have hoped to have better instant coffee / disposable ground coffee options.
- Eloise (8/5): Beautiful breakaway not too far away from the city - Beautiful garden setting
Spacious rooms
Delicious breakfast
Friendly staff Braai a bit small
Bed very hard and short for long people
Aircon did not work in the room
- Robyn (8/5): Very good -
