Guest Reviews
- Robert (4/5): - initially, it was fine...until we found dead flies...tons...under bed, on chair. sounds like its a common issue...then we started seeing Japanese beetles crawling around the ceilings and walls...another common issue. someone came up to vacuum the dead ones up like it's a daily thing. luckily it was just for a one night stay. very limited continental breakfast. bought breakfast from the onsite restaurant..very good, reasonably priced. no tv in the room, so we watched the beetles. can't recommend this inn...
- Daniel (10/5): - We liked everything, food was delicious, staff was very friendly and informative
- Amanda (10/5): - We had a great meal and a good nights rest. The staff was friendly and the location was great.
- Kris (4/5): - I cannot recommend this hotel. It was completely outdated. The room did not have a tv. The service was subpar. I asked for an extra pillow and was told they didn’t have one. Mind you, the hotel was no where near full. I felt like I was staying at my grandparent’s house. Most items on their restaurant menu were not available. I would NEVER stay there again. Had I not paid in advance, I would have left and found someplace else to stay.
- Betty (10/5): - This is a perfect INN, not a hotel. Staff (Josh) was perfect. Rooms were one bed with bathroom. Refrigerator was in the hallway (none in room), No TV. Which was perfect.
All guests ate, drank at the bar and visited with each other. It was PERFECT. We met a lovely young couple from Switzerland, Group of Older women on a women's vacation as well as locals, construction workers and truck drivers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
- Thaya (10/5): - We spent a very comfortable night here en route to Quebec. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good. No complaints from us!
- Heather (10/5): - We got in super late and the innkeeper was accomodating to our late arrival needs. Quaint, cute place with awesome iced mocha coffee.
- charles (10/5): - The staff was very busy but made time to talk and visit with you . The available Bar and excellent restaurant are a big plus. It’s an Inn by the river, but they made you feel like you were home.
- James (10/5): - Wonderful people, nice rooms, beautiful area.
One rooms AC did not cool well, so 4 star
- wendy (10/5): - Great stay! Stopover on our way to Quebec. What a warm welcome. Felt right at home. Beautiful view. Great cocktails. Very friendly staff. Very clean. Loved it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very comfortable!
- David (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful personnel. A bug problem was disconcerting. Flies and lady bugs prevalent in bedroom.
- Arthur (10/5): - Excellent stay. The Inn, while a bit dated, is very charming and comfortable. The food was excellent and the staff very pleasant. Great value and if we had had more time there is lots to do in the area.
- Andria (10/5): - Staff is great!!!!
- Patrick (10/5): - The staff at the inn were all incredible, the first time they met you they greeted you with your name and all the staff always knew who you were anytime they saw you. They were always happy and cheerful toward all of there guests. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice clean and tidy. We also ate at the hotel and the food was wonderful. This was a wonderful place to stay, my wife and I actually had extended our stay because we liked it so much. Thank you to all the wonderful staff that work there, we can't wait to return
- Kathleen (10/5): - Right by the fast moving river. Restaurant on site. Super friendly wait staff. Good info on nearby hikes .
- Larry (8/5): - Quaint and homey
- Gail (10/5): - Very friendly staff, clean rooms and comfy beds. Food was good.
- Charles (8/5): Nice stay poor breakfast - Very comfortable rooms with good view of river. Nice staff. Very disappointed in breakfast. Base on price and marketing they could remedy the continental breakfast quite easily
- Emily (10/5): - A lovely stay at a small inn. Greeted by friendly staff who went out of their way to accommodate requests. There are no televisions in the rooms, so it's nice and quiet. There's a shared mini fridge and microwave for guests and coffee is always on. Close to beautiful hikes, just ask for a list of local sights. Fine dining at the Inn overlooking the sunset on the Kennebec River or a fun pub, Boatmans, owned by the same folks just down the road for Tuesday taco night and ping pong. The king bed was deliciously comfortable, the shower and jacuzzi in-room were perfect. All in all a fantastic stay.
- Siddhartha (10/5): - Beautiful view of the river, deers come in during the morning time, staff is very friendly
- Gary (10/5): - Very quiet location , but so close to excellent trail walks … right on the river as the title suggests …
All staff excellent … a pleasure to have stayed there ..
- John (10/5): Loved our stay here! - We loved staying at Inn By The River. Everyone was so friendly, guests and staff and the food and drink in the bar and restaurant were great. The location was fabulous with wonderful hiking trails nearby. Although it was a bit of a drive to get to Grand Falls, it was definitely worth the time. One of the highlights of our monthlong exploration of the NE.
- Mike (10/5): - Very clean and it was great being able to order our dinner after we arrived! A very delicious dinner! Breakfast was also available and it was very delicious! The server/host was very nice and helpful with any questions we had about the area. Just a very nice overall place to stay! Loved having a door from our room go right onto the front porch. My hubby and I ate our meals on the porch while we could watch and hear the river.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly staff and lots of charm - Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the inn was very charming and clean. Beautiful setting overlooking the river. Would highly recommend!
- Shannon (10/5): - Arrived late and found a note taped to the door welcoming us and explaining check in and check out procedures. Room was small but super clean and comfortable. Perfect for a good night sleep before our rafting adventure! Delicious breakfast too!
- GARY (8/5): - Great food. Stairs to room only for the non-surgical fit
- Mary (10/5): - A bit of a snafu while booking. The staff were wonderful at finding a solution. So thankful to them for that. Kudos to the chef. Had some delicious meals.
- Kim (10/5): - Very attentive & sweet staff. The river view is beautiful. The food is great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the cleanliness and attentive staff. My room was small; no chair nor tv. Room was facing rear parking lot with lots of light streaming through the shades.
Continental breakfast was meager.
Other lodging options within the complex may have been more to my satisfaction, but I was unaware of those options. That was my own fault.
I would go again, but I’d probably opt for a cabin on the river, since that’s my type of preferred environment.
- Ed (10/5): - Not a lot of frills but clean, comfortable property. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Overall great experience.
- Texanpilotx (10/5): - We stayed in room five. Very clean, pleasant staff and good restaurant. We would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No TV set. Their restaurant is a bit pricy. The view is gorgeous and the room was charming.
- Carla (10/5): Magnificent view of the Kennebec River! - We loved this inn. Very clean. Furniture is not new, but old in a charming way. Books and games to borrow and a fireplace in the common area. Dinner was superior. We had salmon, smashed red potatoes, and Parmesan asparagus with Maine blueberry crisp for dessert. We’ve been in Maine several days. This was the best meal so far. The only thing that would have made it better would have been some good crusty bread and butter. Wish we could have stayed longer. Steele was very helpful and friendly when we arrived as was the young lady who served at breakfast.
- James (10/5): Cozy place by the river - It was just a one night trip on our trip to Maine. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The staff and owner were friendly and accommodating. It wasn’t at all a deal breaker but having a TV in the room would have been nice. If ever back in Maine, we would stay here again! It is also very close to the Moxie Falls which were amazing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a lovely Inn with friendly helpful staff. Enjoyed dinner overlooking the river.
Plan to return again soon.
- Cindy (6/5): - Bedroom only had night table on one side of bed.
Also, place felt like a money trap. Continental breakfast was poor but staff right there to offer to sell additional breakfast items.
Also, staff did not even want moose on property and we came here to try to see moose.
- Karrie (8/5): - We had a nice stay as a stop over to Canada. Location is beautiful. Highly recommend seeing the falls and Moxie Pond.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Relaxed atmosphere. Like home away from home. Good halfway point between Bar Harbor Maine, and Quebec City.
- Bruce (8/5): - The view was fantastic. The room was kind of like staying with your favorite Auntie. Beds were a bit aged but the quilts were very nice. No TV or tables/dressers - but you might see a moose out the window! Seriously there was functional internet and a cramped but fully equipped bathroom and the room was clean. It's a beautiful area and they are operating a pleasant B&B type establishment in the north woods above a decent restaurant/bar - it's all good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique, friendly atmosphere. No real front desk, checked in at the bar. Great view of the river from our room. Would definitely recommend.
- Julieta (8/5): Comfortable - Convenient location to our needs. Liked the idea of having a restaurant and a bar at the Inn. Would have been better if there is a laundry facility too.
- Kevin (8/5): - Property is tucked into the woods with small frontal window from the road. No frontal entrance as 1/2 circle drive takes you behind the building. Place is set up more like a dorm with private baths. Each room has different amenities. Clean and comfortable. Close to quite a few Adventure Companies.
- Henry (10/5): Great find - What a wonderful little find and such a fabulous view of the river. Love the $6 buy for wood to make your own fire out back. Great happy hour appetizers too, super, super pleased
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff wonderful ...hydro went out from a storm shortly after wecarrived so no hot food but staff helpful and put together sandwich and salad.
- Kelly (10/5): Inn By The River...an awesome getaway! - We absolutely loved everything about our stay at Inn By The River! We did the river tubing trip, which was conveniently located right by the Inn and the service for both the tubing trip and our stay was top notch! We had dinner down the road, for Taco Tuesdays, at their other location, and it was awesome! Came back to the Inn for dessert. There wasn't one thing I would change! I would highly recommend staying here!
- Dan (10/5): - To start with the staff was extremely friendly and professional, the room was very clean and cozy. The menu is varied and everything we had was excellent. I would definitely return.
- John (8/5): - Staff friendly and very helpful. Food decent. Views beautiful.
- Jon (10/5): - Very peaceful setting. If you're looking to get away .... way away this is a great place to stay. View of the Kennebec River is amazing (get a river view room). I recommend staying here.
- Laurie (8/5): Friendly - The owner and employees could not have been nicer. The room did not have a closet and only one bedside table. But, the room was clean and neat.
We would stay there again...
