Guest Reviews
- Sheila (10/5): - Nice front desk staff; safe and nice area; comfortable bedroom; and heater and WiFi work well. :)
- Lisa (10/5): - Just older needs some up dates
- Scott (8/5): - Bathroom could be a little bigger. Other than that was great.
- Enis (2/5): - Extremely rundown. And I don’t think the sheets were changed because I saw body hair on the bottom sheet and they did not smell fresh at all. holes in the walls cracks in the walls missing tile in the shower.
- PAUL (4/5): - Location and service is nice.
- Keith (10/5): Clean comfortable and helpful - Very accommodating for our late arrival. Clean and comfortable room. Will stay again when we are back in the area for next year's event.
- Bethann (4/5): - Close to route 100. Needs updating. Very stingy with soap and towels, no tissue, had to ask for coffee, only 1 reg and 1 decaf for 2 people who don’t drink decaf. No creamor only something called whitener. Drapery rod broken so drapes couldn’t close. No table and chairs for eating.
- Jeff (10/5): - For a cheap stay it is above average
- Emilio (2/5): - The resident are old people and looking for anything to make trouble of it no recomendable para hispanos la gente q habita ayi son mayores y te buscan problemas asiendote sentir muy incomodo
- Marilyn (8/5): - A little outdated but it has all the essential you’ll need at a motel.
Customer service is friendly and check in is hassle free.
- Marilyn (10/5): - It’s not luxurious but it’s clean and very polite staff.
- Carol (2/5): - Room was dirt floors could have been vacuum.spider webs in the corner spits marks on the picture above the bed cockroaches crawling around very outdated furniture. Very small shower.
- Linda (6/5): - The room was clean and adequate. We were in the outer building which has a few stairs to get to. We were there for 1 night so it was fine for that. It is a convenient location and was pretty quite.
- Mary (6/5): - Bed was fine, lots of mold in the bathroom
- Erskine (6/5): - The room wasn’t really like a regular hotel room. The staff had to replace the TV twice because the TV was malfunctioning. Also the air conditioning unit was a bit noisy. But on a positive note the staff very accommodating!
- John (4/5): - Very outdated rooms, rooms smelled old and Musky.
- Sandy (10/5): - Very clean and staff was very nice
- KATHERINE (6/5): - We only stayed one night, and it was clean enough, but stunk so badly of smoke that my pillows i brought with me, needed washed when i got home. Free wifi doesnt work, at all. The cable tv they promise, also doesnt work. Also there is no way to control the temperature ( heat not AC) so i was cold all night. I didnt expect much given the price, however I do expect the amenities we are promised, to be fulfilled.
- Christine (10/5): Cozy - Very convenient and cozy hotel!
- Christian (6/5): - Bathroom was freezing and smelled bad
- Donna (10/5): - This property was exactly what I needed. A nice comfortable bed, mostly quiet, and price was good. Outside traffic noise was a little annoying, but I had earbuds and played music. Traffic calmed down at a reasonable hour (about 8ish) so it was fine. Young man who checked me in was very kind and helpful. The motel is dated, yet charming. I loved the colors and comfort of room. Thank you
- Tanya (8/5): Peaceful night - It was Great.. peaceful, n comforting
- Adam (10/5): Cozy and quaint - Great place, very cozy with friendly staff.
- James (8/5): - Nice staff very accommodating
- BRUCE (2/5): Unhappy - The room was clean and the bed was comfortable unfortunately the stench coming from the floor drain in the bathroom was terrible. I kept the door closed but when I had to use the bathroom the stench was that bad you couldn’t breathe
- sidney (8/5): - Close to jakes flea market in barto pa
- PAUL (10/5): - X
- Alan (8/5): - The staff were very nice, The room and area is well maintained..My beefs are minimal. There was no breakfast offered.I will check that out in advance next time. There was no tissue paper. The microwave was missing the plastic piece that turns the glass base, which rendered it unusable. That's all minor concerns.Again, the room was very clean and a very nice staff to deal with..
- Peter (8/5): - Excellent place to stay for the value. AC, hot water and cleanliness very good. Can sit outside the entrance door. WiFi and cable good.
- Stacey (10/5): Enjoyed our stay here! - It was very good! The room we were in was very clean, and the check in process to get our room was very easy. The lady at the front desk was nice and after we checked in, we were not bothered at all until we had to check out. The only thing was that the room smelled a bit when we first came in, but I think it was because it was so hot outside that weekend and made the room weird. Once we blasted the air conditioning, the air felt better and it was good.
- Eric (2/5): - Not the best
- George (10/5): - Very friendly staff.
- Anthony (10/5): - I don’t care about eco thsts a scam. But the motel is very clean, comfortable, the staff is really nice👍
- Brandi (10/5): - I don’t give a crap about eco this, eco that this motel is comfortable, staff is great
- Dennis (2/5): - The place was dirty, reeked of cigarette smoke, there was not even a room number sign on our room, the lady pointed to a door and said that was our room. There was plywood covering a opening in the wall, Barking dog a few doors down, we left this place immediately
We are now fighting with the hotel for a refund but they are not willing.
Do not stay here, it is truly a lousy motel
Dennis
- Leonardo (2/5): - The worst motel where I have spent the night. 1 dirty. 2 Strong bad smell of cigarettes and dirty sheets and blankets with hair as well. A nightmare for me and my son.
- Sarah (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay at the Mel-Dor Motel in New Berlinville. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable and the setting was very quiet and peaceful. The hotel staff were all very pleasant and hospitable.
- jimmy (6/5): - The room had a strong smell of cigarettes although o booked a non smoking room. Room wasn’t cleaned properly.
- ADAM (8/5): Right price - Nothing fancy but it was perfect for a quick weekend getaway.
- Robert (6/5): - Hard to find
- Travis (2/5): - 1st things first, I have never good or bad left any type of feed back but the male receptionist was very rude. Kept complaining about everyone booking on expedia
Kept on complaining about American people. My hearing is not great and I had a hard time understanding his accent so he started complaining about not being able to hear him behind a sheet of glass. To top it off he gave me the keys and sent me to the wrong room luckily nothing happened as my son and I was entering the wrong room with the other customer sleeping.
- deborah a (6/5): - Microwave was filthy. Room and sink dirty.
- William (8/5): Boyertown trip. - Outdated rooms but sufficient and clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good sleep - Outdated. Corners could be cleaned a little better. But the bed was comfortable. Slept good in the cold ac.
- Martin (8/5): - A nice classic motel. Convenient and quiet.
- Jan (6/5): - The room was clean. The bathroom outlet was attached to the wal with blavk duct tape. The room rug was old and not attached to the floor very well.
- David (8/5): - Reminded me of a 1940s motel. Easy access to the main highway. Staff was very helpful and made my stay very pleasant.
- Danielle (2/5): - Its absolutely absurd that I had to pay a pet fee, yet I couldnt leave my cat alone in my room. Um......shes a cat. What the hell was I supposed to do with her when I went out? First off, she isnt dirty or destructive. She wasnt going to do anything to the room. Second, she isnt like a dog. Was I going to take her to peoples houses with me? It was also crazy cold out. I couldnt exactly leave her in the car when I went places. I was also talked down to at the front desk about the cat, about not allowing her to pee around the room. Why the hell would I not want my cat to use a litter box? Why is it assumed that because I have a cat she was gling to be gross and that the room was going to be gross? My husband has asthma. We do everything we can to keep the cat hair/scent down as much as possible. Will not be staying here again.
- Rebecca (6/5): - Friendly staff. Clean room. Worn out conditions.
- Robert (8/5): - It was a cheap motel. Was in the area I needed to be.
- sheryl (4/5): - Not worth the money
- Susanna (8/5): - I was looking for a budget option that was clean and quiet and it was both of those.
- John (10/5): - Nice quiet room.
- Susan (8/5): Clean and great price! - This place was very clean & had some updated items, but the bathroom was quite dated. All parts functioned correctly & were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Coffee pot, fridge, and microwave in room..BONUS!
The bed was hard but overall was satisfied.
- John (10/5): - Super quiet!
- GORDON (8/5): - The room was a bit dated, and the walls needed to be painted. Otherwise, the accommodations were adequate. I liked having the refrigerator and being able to park in front of my door. It was nice to have fresh bath towels every day.
- Thomas (8/5): - Quite and convenient location.
Ac filter need to be replaced bc of smoke smell.
- Dolly (2/5): - It is old and not maintained.
- martha (8/5): - The gentleman that checked me in was extremely rude. Other than that the stay was clean, quiet, and comfortable
- Roy (8/5): - The place was nice...a little dated but well-maintained and very clean
- Christopher (6/5): - Typical budget motel. Overall not bad experience
- SANTINO (6/5): - The availability of the staff. I needed to check out at 5am and couldn't because noone would come to the front after consisent bell ringing. I had to get to work, so I ended up not speaking with them yet
- Muhammad (10/5): - overall, it was a good experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Basically what you'd expect for a 2 star motel. A bit dirty, non-smoking room smelled like smoke from a while ago, neighbors were loud after hours. Host was very nice. We picked it because it was 5 minutes away from everywhere we needed to go, so very convenient from that perspective and we didn't spend a ton of time in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the size of the room, and the amenities that were included.
- Shayla (8/5): - I liked the size of the room, and the amenities that were included.
- Shaquan (2/5): - If you are Black - Do Not Stay at This Place!
No words minced here. This facility is a straight up, effin' dump. Period. And the owners/managers are even worse.
No question, if I were a white man (or sub Continental Indian - Hindu especially), I would've received better, if not the very best treatment here.
But I'm a Blackman, proudly & unequivocally so, and that was definitely not my experience on the afternoon (btwn 12pm -1pm) 9/25/2021, at the Budget Host Del Mor Motel in New Berlinville, PA.
And get this - these ignorant a**es, led by the fearlessly embecilic, recalcitrant & rude husband, had the nerve to charge me the full rate ($105.44), even though I used my good sense & did not stay there.
In fact, it cost me nearly 500% more ($468.00) than what these people (have initially; to date) stole from me ($105.44), to leave this raggedy a** facility.
There should have been a "For Whites Only / No Blacks Allowed" sign right out front.
That would've been an honest show of how they felt about me, as a Blackman.
The asinine husband & father, who (sub Continental) Indian, had a deeply visceral reaction to my very presence.
So what does anti Black racism look like from other, non white people??
It looks exactly like what I experienced on Sat. 9/25/2021 at the Budget Del Mor
I questioned my ID, why I there, msde sure to tell me repeatedly "1 person in the room".
(and paying customer), showing up for (what thankfully wasn't) a
- Rikki (2/5): - The only thing liked about this place was room and bed size. The unliked things were too small bathrooms, staff extremely ignorant and couldnt understand what they were saying. And pretty much got our money refunded
- Rachel (2/5): Stay away, this place is a nightmare - I asked for a non smoking room and they put me, my fiancé and our 1yr old in a horribly smelling smoke room. They next morning they told me I could do a late check out. At 11:30 I was told to get out immediately and my belongings were to stay in the room until I paid for another night. They yelled at me and told me that I asked the wrong person about the late check out!!! We left immediately. After we left I was charged for 2nights and the 2 $30 security deposits. I called and asked them about this and was called a racist white privileged witch that just wanted a free night. I filed unauthorized charges with my bank. For an outdated, smelly, mold infested place I was charged 239.80. This place is a joke and from the reviews they have done this to a lot of people.
- Bernard (10/5): - A quaint older style maintained motel undergoing improvements. Wifi wa rather weak, but we were at the end of the building. Evidence that progress was being made.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Despite being near a busy imtersection, the rooms were nicer than newer buildings in the same enviroment noise wise.
What was unexpected was the strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. Real nice after a long trip.
Our stay was last minute, so we had to take a smoking room. Surprisingly, my wifes being an asthmatic didn't sensed any lingering smoke. The room was nicely maintained.
We had a nice king sized bed. Another reviewer complained of burnt holes, which we did not see evidence of.
Overall, we were very pleased with our two night stay.
- Connie (6/5): - It was okay.
They thought we were hiding a pet or more people cause questioned whete we parked when first got there
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst experience of my life! I left crying! - I did not stay here, went to check in the lobby was very loud because of the ac, could not hear owner through the glass, which I indicated several times. When I would ask questions because I could not hear him, he became very belligerent, not enough room to provide all the details but he violated rights by asking me why my husband has a support animal and told me he hopes I didn’t have plan on having the dog on the bed because of my husband’s ptsd. He also used racial statements such as “you people” in our exchange, it was so bad I left the lobby crying. asked if I wanted to see the room b/c he didn’t want me to come back complaining about ir. I told him no my mom had had 2 back to back surgeries at lehigh valley hospital in the last 2 days, I was tired and just wanted keys to get to sleep. He then took my AZ drivers license asked why I am all the way out here after I just explained why and asked why I wasn’t staying closer to the hospital. Would not recommend a female to check in to this hotel the owner has a lot of anger issues, problems with people or service member like my husband who have ptsd and service animals as well as people that are not of his own culture. No respect for women ! Still very stumped as to why I was even treated the way I was but I left and stayed 8 miles down the road where the front desk agents were so nice. So much for trying to support local businesses:(
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was clean and comfortable although it was only a few steps from the parking lot. The checkin was awful … confrontational and very uncomfortable.
- Brandy (10/5): - The room was clean and it seems to be family run they were very nice id go again for sure
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We had a reservation for 2 nights and had to leave after 1 night. The room smelled so badly that it caused breathing issues- combination of smoke and mold. The bathroom was disgusting- barely clean and looked like it should be in an institution from 1970. There was less than a 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper when we checked in and when we called the front desk, we were told we had to come get a new roll. The bed blankets were covered in burn holes and the mattress was awful- leaned to the back and to the middle. We were told we had to provide a $25 cash deposit even though we paid for the 2 nights in full. The owner initially tried to say that I did not give him payment and after several times of me saying I definitely gave it to him, he found where he had placed it. I did not care for his tone or his assumption. When my husband told him we were checking out early, he was told that we needed to contact Expedia to get a refund for the 2nd night. When I reached out to Expedia, I was told this was absolutely not correct and that he needed to provide the refund since we paid him directly. I have reached back out to the hotel and have not heard back yet. Now I am out $100 and left washing every single thing that was in the room and airing out all of our bags. The motel gets a 6.2- Good rating, but it is just awful. I would not recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place for the cost
- Latosha (2/5): - I arrived to this location and was not greatt
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The floor hadn't been vacuumed. There were 2 items from previous people under the beds. Cigarette burns in the spread, blankets, and sheets. The coffee pot was a single serve and we were given 1 pod for 3 people. 2 towels for 3 people. Would have expected to pay more like $89 instead of $120.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Staff requested a cash depisit of $25.00 at check in. Thre different people stated they require cash only for depisit at check in. Nothing in the office or on site when making reservation stated a cash deposit.
- Jim (2/5): Ouch, a numbing experience - Communication difficulty when checking in. English speakers of another language. Facility is dated, in phases of disrepair, and vegetation overgrown around the perimeter. Rooms furniture was sparse or missing. Linens, had burn holes and mouse droppings in first bed turned down. Bath towels were worn and rough. Bed lamp switch worked intermittently and cover omitted on bath fixture. Woodwork was dusty and door hardware was dirty to the touch. Only positives were a modern television and only a one night stay!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - IT's convenient to where I need to be. The rooms smell bad. There is duck tape on the window/ Very low lighting. All my things smell bad now.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room stinks, toilet loose from the floor, sink drain fixed with duct tape, soap was terrible.
- Jeremy (8/5): - Convenient location. Room was comfortable. Some updates are needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint independent motel. Very clean. Only thing it lacked was an outlet near the desk into which to plug my laptop for charging. Curtain rod seems to have been mounted at a approximately 30 degree angle, so opening the curtains was a problem. That should really be fixed. Other than that, I liked it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked how private it it. It’s older with some upgrades. But the older Indian lady is rude and doesn’t know how to talk to customers.
Other than that we had a good stay. I’m a clean room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it was very clean and nicely located for us. It was quiet and peacful for a good night sleep. We would stay there again when needed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was decorated in a very dark decor and there was poor lighting, but the furniture, carpet and bathroom were clean and seemed to have been renovated fairly recently. The exterior was a bit dated but clean and well maintained. It reminded us of the motel in “Schitt’s Creek”.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome prostitutes
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No visitors allowed No visitors allowed No visitors allowed No visitors allowed No visitors allowed
- Joan (10/5): Always Pleased - We have stayed here for 20 years and have always been content. The owners are a pleasant family and they work hard to keep the rooms clean. Even during this pandemic, I am confident with the cleanliness and feel safe there
- ronald (6/5): o frills motel - This is a no frills motel but clean and the owners were pleasant enough. We were in the older building with no desk or chair and no telephone. The location was our main concern so we were OK with that.
- Randall (2/5): - We were given the key to room 21. When opened, the room was stuffy and had a strange odor, not of disinfectant, but more of an insecticide smell. We approached the bathroom, there was a urine smell and the overhead fan did not work.
We went to the front desk and asked for a different room. The owner/operator refused, hotly insisting the assigned room was freshly cleaned and fine. When told it was not acceptable for us and asked for another room, he said there was no other King bed room available. We offered to accept separate beds in a clean room. He refused, said we should call Hotels.com, cancel the reservation through them and he would not charge us. Otherwise, he would be required to pay Hotels.com around $11.00 for the online booking and our not staying would cost him this plus the lost room payment. It was difficult to get through to a person at hotels.com, I chatted with #2 agents (the first chat was cut off.) Both apologized for our problems and both said they would contact the owner. I requested a transcript of our second chat, but the agent could not supply one. I was told to expect an email from Hotels.com. I expected one addressing our problems, but instead got one requesting a review. So, here it is. I checked and am relieved to see that the charge for the Mel-Dor Motel was reversed. I was misled by Hotels.com's ratings for the Mel-Dor. I prefer older, locally run motels instead of national chains, expecting them to be maintained.
- Joanie (10/5): - The Meldor Motel is always clean. The owners are pleasant.
We have stayed here at least once a year for over 20 years and have never been displeased.
It is not fancy but it is comfortable enough!
- Robert (8/5): - Would stay here again. By far not the most modern place, but beds are clean, shower was good and a/c worked. That’s all I needed and you can’t expect much more for the price you are paying. Also handy, Walmart right around the corner
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Ac worked great.. water pressure was low and shower head was half working
- Yvette (4/5): Needs work - The television did not work, the bathroom needed repairs and cleaning.
- Christine (8/5): - Nice for the price, however, i ended up with a smoking room when i am a non-smoker.It would have been nice to been offered the option of a non-smoking room.
- Charles (6/5): - The machine that took in credit cards broke down. I had to pay for my room in cash. I was not happy about that.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Meldor - Close to town and my family
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Traffic was loud and room was a bit cold, but not unbearable. Staff was very helpful and attentitive.
