Debbie (10/5): We had everything we needed. - It was an old ski lodge. The room was nice & comfy bed. Breakfast was good and the Inn keeper was very helpful. We forgot our phone there. I called our number and the Inn keeper answered it! We made our way back to the Lodge and picked it up. It was stress free. They were very honest and made sure we had everything we needed. Check in was down a flight of stairs. I have a hard time on stairs.

Rosemarie (9/5): Excellent location and very quiet. The room was huge and didn't expect a real fireplace. - The huge tub in the room made up for the hot tub being out of service. Would definitely book a room there again. Very close to all the shopping I needed to do. The price for the room was very reasonable too. Was hoping for the outdoor hot tub to be working. Breakfast was okay. Yogurt was outdated and no danishes plus very limited fresh fruit. The kitchen in the room could use a couple mixing bowls.

Guest (8/5): Excellent venue with a personal feel. Warm and helpful staff. - We were there for a wedding, which meant that our timing did not match with the hotel's standards. The manager (Barbara) was very communicative and helpful in getting our rooms ready early and ensuring the elderly with us didn't have to navigate smartphone apps to get in. Taylor at the front desk was friendly and very helpful to all family members. And, even the cleaning staff arranged their tasks to ensure we could enter and get ready for our important event. Nothing.

Nicole (8/5): - This property was very cute. It was clean but had the smell of an older place. Kind of musty. The room was also clean. The shower could use an update but it wasn’t a big deal. We were there for a girls weekend and were hoping to use the hot tub. Unfortunately it was closed for maintenance. Make sure to click the “read more” area when booking so that you know if it will be closed or not. It was closed all summer. We didn’t use or check out the sauna but the staff did tell us to give them 15 minutes notice if we wanted to use it so they could start it up. We also didn’t get to experience the breakfast as there was a family reunion that booked most rooms in the hotel. They did offer us a sheet to fill out and hand to them and then they would bring us out our breakfast but we just chose to go elsewhere. Overall this place was just what we needed for our trip minus being able to use the hot tub. I would probably stay there again.

Kristal (8/5): Dated, needs updates, but clean and quiet. - The place is a little dated and dark, but the rooms were clean and it was quiet. The hot tub was closed for maintenance which was disappointing since there's no other pool or anything. Also, the cable wouldn't come in so we were unable to watch anything on tv. Also, the desk/lobby area closes in the evening so you can't access the vending machine even. Most fascinating, they still have physical keys to get in the door! You never had to worry about the key card not working. 😆 It would be perfect for skiers at granite peak or golfers at the course right there. El Tequila Salsa is right down the road and was fabulous!
Dirk (9/5): Forested Stop in Wausau - I needed to stop in Wausau on a long trip and opted for this lovely place over the chain hotels. Set in a beautiful wood on the slope of Rib Mountain with more character than any other Wausau hotel offers. More of a well-maintained cabin in the woods than a motel. I booked a larger room this time and it was perfect for a night or two. I hate roku TV, not least because it is difficult to access local news compared with regular cable. A major storm was heading though and I needed to get some information for onward travel and needed to search the internet via i-phone. A small thing and did not detract from my stay.

Michele (5/5): Ok for a night but would not return for a long weekend. - The young girls working the front counter were both very nice and helpful, even when they didn’t know the answer they reached out to the manager and promised he/she would get back to us. The hot tub was not working and we walked by it and it appeared to have been never set up for the season. The booking.com site did not state anything about it being closed. We asked about it at the desk and was told the manager would contact us on Monday about adjusting the rate, we never heard from the manager at all. It was also strange that a manager would not be on duty the entire weekend! We stayed Thursday-Sunday and a manger was never there. Other issues… the lighting in the room was very poor and only mirror was in the bathroom. That’s fine for a couple but if you are sharing the room with 3 other people it would be hard to get ready if the bathroom is occupied. The bed was not the most comfortable, but could be personal preference (pillows were great though). Minor, but worth mentioning would be some more attention to detail given the spiders and cobwebs hanging around the bathroom, Culver’s ice cream left behind in the freezer, dirty/stained plastic chairs with melted cigarette burn on balcony, and white splatter gunk all over the inside of the bathroom door.
Jenny (5/5): Okay, but would not stay again. - Location was good. It was wooded and pretty quiet. The two younger girls working the front desk were both super friendly and helpful. Based on the reviews we read, we are sad to say we were very disappointed. We stayed in a room at the inn, not a townhouse which may be different. Rooms were very dark with poor lighting and smelly. The rest of the inn had a very strong plug-in smell, especially when you first walk in. The hot tub was out of commission which was not disclosed when we made the reservations, very disappointing. Manager was unavailable the entire time, Thursday through Sunday. The lobby is not open during the night and opens around 8am which is fine but not good if you start your day early.
Paul (8/5): Unusual place but good enough considering price. - Quiet room. Very happy with the soft bed and variety of pillows. Didn't use the shower, so can't comment on that. For some reason, the laminate-wood flooring was slightly sticky to both shoes and socks. The entire interior of the building, even the room, was weirdly dark. Still a fair experience for a fair price.

Sophie (10/5): Echt zu empfehlen! - Super gemütliches Hotel, was keiner Kette angehört. Wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und alles wurde super erklärt. Da wir spät ankamen sind wir nur aufs Zimmer. Die sind minimal hellhörig aber unsere Nachbarn waren auch sehr laut. Die Umgebung ist wunderschön! Es wurde für uns extra die Sauna angemacht und auch sonst war alles top! Das Frühstück war sehr Basic aber das ist glaub ich normal hier in Amerika. Man darf es auf jeden Fall nicht mit Deutschland vergleichen!

Guest (9/5): Short but very comfortable! - Everything was clean! The air conditioner worked great as it was 85 plus. The breakfast was well supplied. Bagels, coffee, fruit and other packaged items. The staff was very friendly! We would recommend this place. Very quiet!!!
Kkwaa (6/5): Be aware of what you want for options. - Think again, know your options. Here are some things to know. Ask for the first level if you have issues with moving luggage. They said, no elevators. Read and acknowledge. Their place has no attendant at night thru 8 am. Which was in the printed information. If you are an early riser, there is no option to get coffee until 8 am. If you are allergic to smoke, smoke smells, note the whole room smells like firewood, even if you don't use the fireplace. It is warm in the rooms, even with the air circulation. Unfortunately many things seem out of order. We did enjoy the attendant at the front desk. Packing is super. It's near a lot of necessary places... Gas, food, etc, and the trails to walk. Just read and understand your options.

kathy (6/5): Slightly disappointed - The setting is wonderful. Quiet, in a residential neighborhood. I chose it because of 10 ratings. Not a 10. I'm attaching a picture of the note about the bathroom door. While securely closing the bathroom door isn't a big deal, for Pete's sake if you know it's a problem replace the door! The door was cracked and nasty at the bottom anyway. Stingy with towels and we had no washcloths. I would have liked a blanket option other than the thick, super warm comforter or just the sheet, it was summer. Taylor at the desk was sweet, and did call us to explain that they had a staffing emergency and she was closing check in at 3:45. It fit our schedule fine to check in before she left. But it meant that we had no access to the lovely lobby, ice or vending in the evening. The outdoor hot tub was closed for repairs. We wouldn't have used the sauna, but it was also not available because of no staff.

The beds were super comfortable and we really enjoyed the little deck for coffee in the morning I did not like that the hot tub was closed when we got there. I wish hotels, in general, would tell you this when booking. It is one of the things that I look for when we book a room.

Schotzie (3/5): Disappointed - I liked the staff and how they were willing to move me to a different room if the whirlpool tub was clean. Unfortunately, the water was rusty in both tubs. The cost of the stay for the lack of amenities. The online description showed access to more in the pool area but when I got there the waterfall kiddy pool was not functioning and the bar was not open. The food was undesirable for the Continental breakfast. The whirlpool tub left a ring in the tub and the water was rusty; it also had a leaking faucet. The sink next to the microwave didn't work and I didn't feel safe drinking the water.

Scheiwe (8/5): - Typical. Not great selection. Didn't care for the breakfast sandwich selection. Noisy neighbors. We were told if we had noise issues not to call staff. We were instructed to knock on wall or ceiling if we were disturbed. In this day and age I don't feel comfortable being confrontational with strangers.
Thomas (6/5): - The facility is in a lovely wooded area. It was likely highly desirable in its prime but it appeared tired and dated with buckets scattered about about to catch leaks, had a weather checked exterior, and hallway carpeting in need of cleaning. We passed on breakfast as cold cereal and waffles did not strike our fancy. Our room itself was fairly well kept but overall we will not consider staying again.

The room was clean and comfortable and the other guests were considerate, the staff was helpful and kind. Being on the first floor I could hear waling from the room above me but the other noises were minimal. The lobby was not open until 8 am which was a little inconvenient, but just plan for it and its fine. Close to shopping and to Wausau without being in the middle of things. Very convenient to Rib Mountain. Very reasonably priced, I would recommend the hotel to other travelers.
586naturev (10/5): Great experience and highly recommend - This is a terrific place to stay, and we were so glad we tried it. Very quiet during off season for skiing, but within 5 minutes of all the restaurants, shopping, parks for hiking, and basically anything you would like to do. Barbara, the general manager, was great to work with on anything we needed and made us feel right at home. The rooms are very comfortable and having a woodburning fireplace was very nice for relaxing in the room (there is firewood available for purchase). The housekeeping staff, Dez and Elizabeth, were great and kept everything in great shape. So if you are looking for a place to stay in the Wausau/Rib Mountain area the Rib Mountain Inn will not disappoint.

But it’s still an older hotel. There is no elevator. Overall we had a good stay and we would stay there again.

chris (10/5): - First visit. A real gem of a hotel. I couldn't be happier about my visit. Very pleasing lobby/Lounge/Breakfast area. Very warm and welcoming. Lodge like decore is very well done. Check in was very fast and friendy. We arived early and were allowed to check in, which was very nice. Lovely rooms with excellent hot/cold controls. Which is important to me. The beds were excellent and the bathroom was superb. The sauna is the best I've seen anywhere. I also loved the outdoor hot tub which was very large. Again, one of the best I've seen. Breakfast was superb. It's a continental with nice extras. Literally steps from Granite Peak Ski Park. Great visit.

Toilet was right against wall was hair on shower wall was just a bit off looked like it was in woods and it’s trees around hotel in a housing neighborhood so that was a bit off.
Judy (10/5): Comfortable, staff was pleasant and made special coffee for me as I can only drink decaf! - Quiet,clean, appreciate the older classy wood work /doors etc. We are early birds and had to wait around for breakfast. Didn’t serve till 8 am.
Kimberly (10/5): I enjoyed my stay - At Rib Mountain Inn, the staff was very friendly. The room was very clean. I enjoyed the beautiful view of the trees.
Jim G (9/5): Lovely and comfortable Northwoods inn! - Very well decorated with Northwoods theme. Very clean throughout, room was nice-sized with balcony to listen to the birds singing. Comfortable bed, good water flow from shower. Good, adequate breakfast, and complimentary coffee, tea, and cappuccino all day. Location was perfect: a little off the highway but tucked away in a foresty neighborhood. All was good!
