Guest Reviews
- STEPHEN (10/5): Perfect riverside hotel - We've stayed here before and it remains one of our favourite hotels. Beautifully designed, wonderful staff, a feeling of spaciousness, with airy rooms, a lovely pool, and an excellent position overlooking the river. Everything is good.
- Stephen (8/5): Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our stay - The staff, breakfasts & lovely room. The hotel manager went above & beyond to look after us. Construction activity along the river.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Natalie (8/5): Very good - Beautiful house and nice staff The pool was under maintenance for the days we were there and we booked this hotel because we wanted to swim and refresh during the day.
- Jurij (9/5): great, the staff was super friendly, professional - good breakfast, different day to day I think maybe the site is a bit isolated / calm but still a bit boring
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect, the service and kindness of the manager Peehann and his team is exceptional. We can highly recommend staying at The Aspara.
- Vanessa (10/5): Very friendly manager and nice peaceful environment away from the city chaos - Bed’s comfort and staff which helped us with everything we needed: from booking trains for us to getting taxis to the city center Breakfast could have more options
- Chelsea (9/5): Outstanding Service - The views from the balcony are exceptional, with the most incredible staff I’ve experienced. Going above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay, booking restaurants, getting taxis to and from any location - and above all ensuring we had everything to make travelling with a one year old and pregnant, as smooth as possible Sadly not in the hotels control, but the building works on the water mean some construction noise - and the ferry boat isn’t active which we were looking forward to. The pool is cold, but we came in a cool week, and breakfast is pretty limited, very well done but could benefit from a couple more options
- Victoria (8/5): Very good -
- ravinder singh (10/5): - a lovely property with the most amazing staff especially the manager Mr Peehann.
Start with the property which was lovely, comfortable and clean with decent sized rooms. The hotel prepared a breakfast each morning with eggs but local pho was available. Additionally the coffee saffron was excellent.
The property has a great pool where one can relax and even the cross river boat isn't running and there was no bamboo bridge - the hotel arranged a free taxi into town every day.
As mentioned the staff were excellent - Mr Peehann went above and beyond every day - so much so that he even accompanied me to a local bank when I lost my card in the ATM one night.
I cannot think of a hotel with better service.
As a bonus the area around the hotel is quiet but a few nice bars and place s to eat nearby if you do not fancy town.
we even ate in the hotel one evening - the food was great - local lao vegetarian
Would stay here again and highly recommended.
- Tavor (10/5): Exceptional - Big room and perfect service.
Very good pool and great view to the river Not close to the center, 10 min by taxi or 25 min by walking
- Stephen (10/5): Impeccable stay and wonderful service - We were very impressed by the staff's professionalism and warmth, most of all by Mr Han, the hotel manager. We stayed here two years ago and the level of service and attention to detail was equally good. Mr Han was very reliable in organising taxis across the river and back everyday and in organising trips to local attractions. For instance, he booked us a very nice trip to the Laos Buffalo Dairy, a local social enterprise/farm. It was also extremely convenient having a very long window for breakfast time (7am-11am). The laundry service was efficient and cheap. Overall, we were made to feel very welcome and it's a place we always look forward to returning to.
- Celine (9/5): beautiful hotel , beautiful location, spacious rooms - beautiful location, far from noise, but at hand reach from happening, i loved the boat that takes you at any moment to the other side of the river, beautiful location and view, cute pool , and spacious room. they could do better with breakfast and cleanliness.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent stay and wonderful staff. Views overlooking a beautiful garden, pool area, and river -
- Hilary (8/5): Very good - The hotel manager was so helpful and the setting was beautiful. We loved reading on the balcony with the gorgeous trees and afternoon light. The pool is lovely and quiet! The breakfast could have been slightly more varied and the boat arrangement wasn't ideal, although it still worked well and wasn't a major issue.
- Päivi (9/5): Superb - Spacious room with a lovely balcony and a river view. Good breakfast and a nice pool. End of January 2024 some noise from the construction site to strengthen the river banks.
- Simon (10/5): Faultless charm and luxury - What a lovely place. Nothing to criticise and everything to love. Beautiful setting by a branch of the mighty Mekong with a lovely pool, delightful breakfast and charming helpful staff. The British owner - Ivan - was very personable, interesting and helpful and all his team were terrific. He also owns the Apsaran on the other side of the river. He was in the wine business so he has a fantastic selection of reasonably priced wines - better than anything else we saw. The manager Han was brilliant. We had an excellent dinner there one night and it was like a private dining treat. The hotel is on the other side of the branch of the Mekong, so it is quiet and away from the noise of the centre, yet readily accessible to it, especially if you use the little shuttle boat that takes you across the river. The 50 or so steps down (and back up on the other side) to the "ferry" are steep, so if you are elderly or disabled you should take the longer way round by round. But that only costs about US$ 5 in a taxi / tuktuk. We'd stay there again, no question.
- Rebecca (7/5): Good - The property was small and cosy, the staff lovely, lovely views of the river from hotel. Quiet in evenings with good air con. Breakfast was a bit limited and you need to use the complimentary hotel boat every time to cross the small river into town.
- Kristina (9/5): Beautiful, relaxing retreat to explore Luang Prabang from - It is a beautiful, peaceful farm with garden, as you can see on the pictures. You can relax after exploring Luang Prabang over the day. Breakfast is lovely, staff is very friendly and helpful. You need to cross over to the other side of the side arm of the Mekong to reach the centre of Luang Prabang. That is beautiful and well organised with a hotel boat. You should know that you need to climb up quite a number of stairs from the boat to the street, at least in the dry season. If anyone has problems with walking that can be an issue, otherwise it keeps you fit. Nothing. I think it is great.
- Valerie (10/5): Loved it! Could have stayed much longer than 4 days - Loved the room which was spacious, clean and comfortable with the option to brew fresh coffee. The balcony was huge too for relaxing. Every memory of staff were polite, friendly and always happy to help. A choice of a few cereal and perhaps yogurt with fruit would be an improvement to breakfast.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- howard (8/5): A Lovely Hotel (With One Caveat) - Han & staff provided truly excellent service throughout our stay. Rooms are quite spacious, comfortable and very clean. Restaurant staff knew after a single meal what our preferences were, & automatically brought everything we could want the next day. The garden & pool are very lovely.
Only negative is the boat ride required to get from the hotel side of the river to the town side. The steps leading to & from the river on both sides are very steep, long and hard. Anyone of age or even slightly mobility-challenged couldn't possibly navigate the stairs; the boat engine also wouldn't start one day. The only alternative is a ~15 minute trip in a van or tuktuk (for a fee). This detracts from an otherwise excellent hotel with extremely good value.
- Carolyn (10/5): Mr Han is the most fabulous host it’s like being in his boutique hone. So kind and courteous so helpful. We fell in lov - Peaceful. Serene
- Eadaoin (10/5): A fabulous hotel in a perfect location. The staff were great. - The rooms are spacious and have a fabulous balcony which overlooks the river. Perfect for relaxing at all times of the day. It’s a very tranquil setting just 2 minutes by boat into the heart of Luang Prabang. The staff are great and really helpful. The bed is very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Nothing
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - Very nice classic style hotel. Manager and all staff very nice and efficient. Free river ride very much useful. Breakfast of excellent quality. Little hidden gem in Luang Prabang Impossible to pay with credit card but this was a general problem in Luang Prabang and Laos.
- Emile (9/5): Very quiet and relaxing - Great quiet location across the river with 2 minute boat ride. Very attentive manager/staff Perhaps a bit more breakfast choice for a 4 or more night stay
- Sakuraba (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antoinette (6/5): Lovely hotel but unsafe to get to riverboat for crossing - The staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating at both hotels. The room was spacious clean and comfortable at the Apsara Rive Droite. When I felt unsafe using their boat transfer service they obliged to let ne stay at the Apsara, their sister resort on the direct opposite side of the river which was in a much more convenient location. I booked at the Apsara Rive Droite however found the walk down the slippery, steep, insecure wooden steps / planks to the river boat to be very unsafe. Especially at night or when it's raining. There is little in terms of food etc on this side of the river but the hotel didn't have a restaurant so it wouldn't be good if you're stuck with bad weather. They were happy to let me go to their sister resort across the river. The hotel room was spacious but definitely not as clean, smelled a bit musty and generally the overall condition was a downgrade.
- Kamila (9/5): Superb - Staff was very lovely and accommodating- they helped us with train tickets and allowed later check out. There are free bicycles at the hotel which was great fun. They have a boat shuttle to the other side of the river (takes approx 2min 😊) and then you are practically on the Main Street. Good breakfast, relaxing atmosphere- nice and cosy. We were so happy with our choice and had lovely time. All was great 😊
- Valerie (9/5): Perfect place to stay in Luang Prabang, so charming and romantic. - This hotel is incredibly charming, across the river from the main town, only a 1 minute boat ride away. The grounds are beautiful, the room was quite spacious and quiet, and the pool is really lovely. The manager Han made our stay especially nice, he is so warm and helpful.
- Prendergast (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Wonderful hotel with pool - Great hotel, very nice and big room, good balcony, beautiful garden, nice pool. You can take the boat and cross the river quickly, it‘s no big deal. Mr. Han helped us with train tickets and booked a lovely boat trip for us. Thank you!!
- Travellingelia (10/5): Unique location, lovely rooms and great service - The location and the boat transfer are unique, going out at sunset on the boat shuttle is magical. The room with the balcony overlooking the river is spacious and nice in every detail. Everyone is very helpful. We really enjoyed everything. Perhaps the breakfast and lunch menus could be a little more creative and contemporary, very traditional and limited choices for brekafst, but all good.
- Pram (10/5): Excellent manager - -Mr.Harn, the manager, is excellent in service and very helpful. He can respond every request both for the travel trip and personal need professionally.
-The room is large and clean.
-The property provide a shuttle boat on demand so we can visit the attraction in a main street very convenience. -bathroom amenities are limit and watery.
-water current are not strong.
- Carol (10/5): Mr Han, manages this boutique hotel with such care and passion. The team gave us a first classservice. - the location, boutique hotel, first class. no dislikes.
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Florian (10/5): Just wonderful! - Very beautiful location. Perfect place to relax and to explore the centre of Luang Prabang. The shuttle per boat is perfectly organized and it’s so charming to cross the Nam Khan river with it. Great coffee for breakfast. Special thanks goes to Mr. Han and to his team for their excellent service, e.g. organizing motorbikes and train tickets. We had a great stay and highly recommend this accomodation! Nothing.
- Robert (10/5): - Lovely peaceful resort with great views over the river, and wonderful friendly, warm staff
- Vimuratore (9/5): I will remeber my stay - Great location, good services, awesome breakfast. Quiet place where you can relax. Staff really polite, kind and available. Try noodles soup for breakfast :) More suggestion on what to do
- Sudarat (9/5): Excellent! - The manager, Mr. Haan was very helpful, friendly, and kind. I asked for an iron and iron table, he then offered his hands to iron my blouse. He also advised the local laotian restaurants to us and even waked up at 5 am just to ensure that the boat came to pick me up and send me off to the temple. I do appreciate. Thank you so much ka P’ Haan. The hotel is located at another side of Kan River and the stairs from the bank at the opposite side are so steep.
- Ania (10/5): best stay in Laos we had. expensive but we’ll worth the price. - - great location
- staff was amazing, they went out of their way to help us with anything
- delicious breakfast with great coffee
- rooms were spacious and had a nice outdoor space to sit
- Jolao (10/5): Exceptional - The location, the Hotel, and the staff was amazing. Thanks for this great memory and experience ❤️
- Isabel (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (8/5): Lovely location. Quiet and prefect catching the little boat over to he town - helpful staff. Delicious breakfast.Tried hard to find one day tours despite not much being open so soon after lockdown.
- Yuko (9/5): what a beautiful small gem! 美しい - mr. Han was wonderful manager who could take care of us!
you can have free boat transportation , it’s also big advantage. breakfast. Stayed 4 nights everyday all same limited menu.
same bread same juice same fruit…
- Jeffrey (10/5): an absolutely gorgeous 5-night stay over - it was absolutely beautiful property with friendly and helpful staff. Loved it mosquitoes otherwise fabulous
- Veronika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Veronika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Veronika (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (9/5): Our first visit to Laos - Good location, easy to get across river on boat at anytime. Manager was so accommodating. Only able to get breakfast at the moment as only just reopened.
- Andrea (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful stay in this gorgeous property. Everything was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and helpful - Absolutely beautiful hotel over the little river from down town Luang Prabang. Amazing rooms, fantastic staff and exceptional breakfast. The pool was gorgeous and the general facilities fantastic. Mr Haan looked after us so well - he was so kind and helpful. We had the most incredible 4 days. Nothing - it was superb
- Gerald (10/5): very enjoyable stay - Location like a secret retreat; boat brings you to the other side of the river any time. Excellent breakfast.
- Stephen (10/5): Turly a paradise hotel. - Quite simply one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. When you're there for a while you begin to see how every detail has been thought through to provide a perfect experience. There aren't many rooms and the large space is luxuriously managed. Trees and plants are everywhere, just outside your window or in the line of sight of the river. It's on a tributary of the Mekong and you need a boat to cross the hundred metres to the main area of the town. (At least you do in the rainy months). A boat is always available (free) and waits to bring you back. The service at the hotel is impeccable, friendly, unobtrusive, knowledgeable. Fine swimming pool. Each room is individually designed and provides a real sense of pleasure to return to in the heat of the day. This is truly a paradise hotel. Absolutely nothing.
- Chase (10/5): - This is an incredible impression or our experience in Laos. From the front desk manager's warm and customed service to the riverboat to sister hotel coordination and bicycle rental and breakfast quality, they are truly amazing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location of the property is very unique as it is across a small river from the main town. You reach the town by a small boat or bamboo bridge. It gives the property a very relaxed and quiet ambiance.
- David (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel - We really enjoyed our stay. The relaxing view of the river from our balcony the excellent service from the staff and the availability of excellent bicycles which we used to explore the area. Being on “the right bank” meant the hotel was very peaceful and every time we wanted to cross the river to town, the boat was readily available and there were no problems using it. WiFi was excellent and we had a wonderful dinner on our last night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quiet but very close to old town. - Absolutely excellent hotel. The staff couldn’t have done more to make our stay enjoyable. Best of both worlds as quiet location across the river from old town but easily accessed by their charming private boat available for free whenever needed.
- catriona (8/5): Lovely boutique hotel - Lovely boutique hotel. Very peaceful looking over the namkhan river in the evening from the room balcony.
Got the small boat over to Luang Prabang daily. Not very suitable for those less mobile as the steps up and down to the river were huge.
Lovely breakfast including croissant/pan au chocolate.
Al up, a very nice hotel to be based at. Handy for the sights.
- Cameo (10/5): - was nice to be on the quieter side of the river. I think that the hotel could look at a shuttle back into town as the steps to and from the boat were numerous and a bit steep and a problem for older clients or anyone with mobility issues. Otherwise it was great value for money, the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and rooms were lovley and spacious.
- Chagnes (10/5): - We had a great stay here. The staff was so helpful and friendly. We can’t wait to come back! The location is so close to the downtown, but the lovely garden and pool big pluses as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - Mr. Han was great he made us feel right at home, he went over the top in everthing. The hotel itself is very quit on the other side of the river of town with a little boat that transport you back and forth. Would stay there again luang prabang is very nice
- Edward (10/5): - Everything was delightful
I loved the location just across from all the action but easy to access by the Apsara Queen
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel , very quiet excellent service . Good location
- Verified traveler (10/5): amazing --so quiet and a perfect pool
- everyone was so perfect! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Gorgeous hotel & great location - We had a wonderful stay! Don't be put off by the location, that added to the charm! We loved getting a 2 min boat ride across and the boat runs until midnight. It's also nice to be away from the busy part of town. There is also lovely bamboo bridge and we took full advantage of the free bikes. The staff were lovely we and very helpful too! the breakfast was also delicious!
- Raul (10/5): Nice hotel perfectly located - This surely is no Ritz Carlton with well trained professional staff, but that's not the reason you should go to Lat Krabang. If you want guest service with a heart, a passion for service and a steep stairs down and up from the short boat river to where the action is will prompt you to a feeling of adventure, you found the right place. Sitting on your private balcony watching the reflection on the river of the last rays of sun dissipating into the evening, you might let your mind drift into believing that you are the guest of a colonial french timber trader's mansion.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel close to central town by boat crossing - Very good and peaceful hotel: charming with NO TV, No phone in the room. The staff is excellent and helpful.Crossing the hotel river by boat can be a fun, good feature for a few days, more than that it is irritating because of steep stairs that one has to navigate up and down. The Buddhists monks walk down the street in the morning at 6.30 with their chanting is a unique experience.
- timbtn (10/5): - Mr Han and his team make this this a perfect place for a relaxing few days. This is a small hotel and so is v quiet. The views over to main part of city are great.
When we visited, the bamboo bridge was jist being built, but boat service is so rasy and so mich fun, that was. Ot an issue
- Joel (8/5): Charming hotel. Great service but some challenges. - Nice, charming hotel across river from central tourist area of Luang Prabang. Excellent service. Can get to central tourist area via boat or nearby bridge over Namkhan river. Both routes involve going down long, moderately challenging, stairs to river on one side and up from the river on the other side. This may not be to everyone's taste or physical condition.
