Breakfast was great and the bed was very comfy. Perfectly located just steps to restaurants and shops but in a quiet street. The bathroom had a sky light and got quite warm during the day. Not a deal breaker.

• bundacat (9/5): Lovely historical property - Lovely historical property, with a magical garden patio entrance, Interesting historical decor. Very well located centrally in the fort, but in a quiet narrow street. Very good breakfast served, the best I had in Sri Lanka, and you can see little Purple Faced monkeys raiding the mango trees each morning. Also offered good evening meals. Excellent modern bathroom. My ground floor room only had a frosted window into an internal courtyard, so no view. The traditional bed was so high off the ground I had to jump to get into it and it was very hard. The room was too small for the size of the bed. The walls are quite thin, so a lot of noise carries into the room.

It’s situated in a quiet side street and has a lovely old colonial feel about it. The manager was particularly helpful when the war in the Middle East meant that our flights were changed.

Good facilities in the room with excellent AC and fan to escape the heat. All staff members were very accomodating and kind. Ample breakfast included with the room - egg hoppers were very tasty! Extremely good location in Galle Fort to explore the fort and shops and as a base to visit other areas. Would recommend.

We stayed in the family room and even if it is on the small side, we were comfortable there three adults. Don't even get me started on the delicious and plentiful breakfast. • Trek00539649872 (10/5): Lovely stay in Galle - What a beautiful place. The setting is lovely and we took many photos of the gardens. Breakfast was lovely and we were often accompanied by one of our favourite dogs. Staff couldn’t do enough to help you. Everything was immaculately clean. There is a small upstairs area with book, game and DVD library. We had a courtyard room and enjoyed sitting out watching monkeys wandering along the top of the walls surrounding the property. Very comfortable room and bed. Location excellent for restaurants and sightseeing. Would recommend this for an authentic Galle stay.

Die Zimmer sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, sowie auch der Rest des Hotels. Der Innenhof zum Frühstück ist wirklich sehr süß! Das gesamte Personal war sehr nett und kompetent. Unser Zimmer hatte leider kein richtiges Fenster

Beautiful leafy courtyard for breakfast or drinks. The staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Incredibly comfy bed. It's worth going for a room with balcony/terrace if you can get one. My room was gorgeous but as I had the basic room there was only the bed to sit on. There were seating areas outside the room but next to reception, a more private area would have been nice.

The staff were charming and very attentive. Chinthaka went out of his way to help me as a wheelchair user. He set up a table in the reception area as access was difficult for me on the terrace. A fantastic evening and definitely recommend.
• 937christinef (8/5): Mixed feelings on an attractive hotel - I have mixed feelings on this hotel . It is authentic and a bit bohemian. Staff are welcoming. Our room no 5 (with balcony) was rather small. Difficult to pack and unpack, but had all amenities. The bathroom was excellent- both lighting and size. A wet room that for once did not soak the whole bathroom. Very good AC and fan in the room. The room was basically very clean, but attention to detail required. The mosquito net and curtains were grubby and the curtains had holes. The bathroom door had grubby finger marks on it and the netting on the open part of the bathroom window was broken - which is important as there are a lot of mosquitoes. Toilet not fixed to wall properly. The view from the room was over an abandoned piece of land between buildings and broken barns. Not very nice until… the next morning just metres from us we had 3 peacocks, chipmunks and the most beautiful turquoise bee eater! Beautiful. Breakfast was excellent served by the hotel staff not the restaurant. We found the restaurant poor - we ate lunch on arrival. But the Fort Bazaar hotel is less than 100 m away and has an excellent restaurant (The Fort Hotel too). Hotel is well situated. Galle is VERY hot and humid- I found it insupportable and so the fact there is no air conditioned public space I found difficult.

The window in our room is more for decoration i would say, one would not want to open it as it face directly into the reception hall.
• Jan (6/5): Nice for a drink or lunch or a quick over night stay but not for dinner - I loved The Decor it was very relaxing The evening meal was a shambles … we both ordered steak and it came with mash potatoes we asked to change them to potatoe Wedges & chips my chips came up 20 minutes before my steak & then my steak arrived .. i had finished my meal before my partner got his wedges & then he got his steak ! And it wasn’t even busy we were the only 2 in the restaurant very disapointing 😌

• Tania (10/5): Gret location, fantastic staff and would return or recommend - This lovely guesthouse is in the centre of Galle and was perfect of our 2 night stay to see the town as everything is within 5/ 10 min walk and you can walk the fort walls. Breakfast was plentiful and the communication with the staff was exceptional. Pradeep (Manager) went out of his way to help us and answer questions and organise a transfer for us. Close to bars and restaurants in town.

Reasonable price Unfortunately bitten many times overnight by bed bugs (was in top bed in the family room (room 4)), friend was ok in bottom bed. Complained to reception the next morning who rightly gave 50% refund on the night’s stay and assured me they would get pest control out that afternoon from Colombo. I have no way of knowing if they actually did this. Glass bottles with purified water for complimentary use in the rooms had brown staining near the base. They need to wash bottles more thoroughly

I booked this seemed to be decent hotel with an expectation that I can have an early breakfast at 6:30 and leave for my train to Colombo. The breakfast is from 8 and you get some fruits and an old croissant warmed up in a microwave. In any other hotel for even a third of the price you pay in Mango house you get better take away breakfast. Customer service is terrible. I arrived around at around 4 pm and after 25km of walking wanted to get to my room as soon as possible. Instead, I spent an hour, because hotel’s pay terminals did not work. I called two times to Switzerland to ask, if it is a problem with two of my credit cards but the bank assured me that it is the merchant’s issue. Instead of contacting the bank in Sri Lanka and try to find the problem, the manager at the reception was sending me to the closest bank to withdraw the money. I asked to pay for the room in the morning but the receptionist said that he cannot do it until I pay. This manager should be fired, but most probably he is a relative to the owner, that’s why he still works there.

• Sam (9/5): Beautifully designed building with great breakfast - Mango House is really well situated in the fort town. It’s really easy to walk around to explore and find food from here. The hotel is beautifully designed, and lots of care and attention was made of us when we arrived. The breakfast was amazing as well. One of the best we’ve had here. Our bedroom was on the ground floor, and so there was a little bit of noise from the kitchen area in the morning, but this is only a tiny detail amid a great experience.

Das Hotel ist sehr sauber und liebevoll gepflegt. Als Boutique-Hotel bietet Mango House eine angenehme, persönliche Atmosphäre, in der man sich sofort willkommen fühlt. Das Frühstück war frisch und lokal und ein schöner Start in den Tag. Das Zimmer war etwas beengt, für mich als Alleinreisender jedoch völlig in Ordnung.

• Bradshaw (10/5): - Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. Stored our bags and arranged a taxi back to airport following day. even offered us a shower when we had checked out- superb!!! Exploring the fort and surrounds were very worthwhile along with the shops!!

• Bruce (9/5): Oasis in a busy historical town - It is a true boutique hotel with only 7 rooms and has remainder true to its old world heritage. While the fit out lacks the flash gleaming fixtures, tiling and furniture of new hotels, these just wouldn’t fit comfortably with the elegant style of Mango House Staff are attentive and friendly The rainforest entrance where the dining room is located helps to take guests away from the busy hustle and bustle of the busy fort precinct Would definitely pick this place again for our first preference in Galle Fort Views from the upper floor look over the backyards and roofs of adjoining properties, however very few hotels in Galke Fort would have dramatic views

• Uthpala (10/5): Perfect location - My second visit and it was as good as the first. Excellent location and great breakfast. You can walk to all the sightseeing spots anytime of the day. Plenty of restaurants and bars around. I see the garden is now occupied with benches and chairs to provide the seating to the new restaurant opened at the place. That kinda took away the homely charm.
• BruceM599 (10/5): Oasis in the middle of bustling Galle Fort town - This small boutique hotel in a quiet side street in Galle Fort township was a real gem Only 7 rooms with 4 upstairs, it has all the character that larger hotels often lack We were upgraded free of charge to an upstairs rooms with views over the town ….not great views but this is a very old town with an eclectic mix of old and new Staff were fantastic, helpful and cheerful which rounded out a great stay in Galle The entrance and dining area is a mini rainforest that helps to get you away from the often busy town It’s an older building with lots of character and to modernise it would be a shame. Rooms are large enough to be comfortable and the upstairs rooms have a balcony Highly tecommended and we would come back again without hesitation

• Brenda (10/5): Excellent place for exploring the - Lovely, cute boutique hotel in the heart of Galle Fort. Staff very friendly and accommodating. I had to leave before the set breakfast time and they kindly made me an early breakfast. Very nice. No views from the room, but wasn’t a big deal for me. The room was quite cozy.

• Deirdre (9/5): Greeted with a cool towel and drink and we were also offered a very tasty snack of a teaspoon of nuts, sugar and cardamo - Beautiful old style small hotel, very funky The physical key is attached to the card you need to insert for the power supply so at nighttime if you want to open or lock the door from your room have your phone torch switched on

• Janne van der Pal (8/5): - Goed hotel wanneer je verblijft in Galle Fijn groot bed Ontbijt is erg goed, ze bieden je enkele opties aan waar je uit kan kiezen Vriendelijk behulpzaam personeel Het hotel is niet super bijzonder, voelde in het laagseizoen een beetje uitgestorven. Na het douchen ruikt de badkamer naar het riool.

• Diane (10/5): Great stay within the fort walls - Lovely quaint hotel tucked away beside Heritage Hotel on a quiet street. Delightful staff - Pradeep manager was always welcoming and happy to make us feel comfortable. Delicious breakfast - quality and quantity. Nice hang out area outside rooms for rainy day. Walk out the door and you are in the middle of the Galle Fort history - nice to walk around and stop in shops/cafes. Simple room interior but very clean and comfortably cool with a/c and fan. No negatives

• Bruno (8/5): - Sehr zentral gelegen im Fort, nahe an vielen Restaurants und den Befestigungen. Schöner Innenhof, generell schön ausgestattetes Hotel in einem alten Gemäuer. Grosse Dusche/Bad mit der besten Duschbrause auf meiner Reise in Sri Lanka. Zimmer, Bett und Bad waren sauber. Für eine Nacht in Ordnung. Das Bett ist angenehm, die Matratze/der Rost quietscht aber bei jeder Bewegung. Wegen der hohen Raumhöhe ist es schwierig, mit der Klimaanlage und dem Ventilator eine angenehme Schlaftemperatur zu erreichen. Ausserdem wäre ein grösserer Abfalleimer im Bad praktisch. Preis/Leistung im Vergleich mit anderen Unterkünften eher mässig - aber da liegt wahrscheinlich an der Lage.

• Andrew (10/5): Restful oasis in the heart of Galle Fort. - The hotel has lovely atmosphere with its courtyard garden and decorations. It is a cool retreat from the heat outside. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable with fan and aircon. The wifi worked well. The breakfast was delicious with multiple options to suit most travellers. I would definitely recommend. I liked everything. There were no problems.

• MaryTravelsToAndFro (6/5): So close to being perfect... - Until the last day of my 5-day stay at Mango House, I would have given this sweet place a perfect rating, but one person made all the difference, and not in a good way. First, the hotel itself is great: colorful, charming, and perfectly located. The room is small but cozy, with a nice bed and roomy bathroom and shower. The food in the restaurant is excellent; everything I had I would have again. Second, most of the staff were fantastic. Pradeep was particularly helpful; when there was a communication mixup with the third-party booking agent, he cleared things up quickly and graciously. He also offered helpful recommendations and assisted with drivers and tours, and checked daily to see if I needed anything. The problem came on my last full day. That morning Pradeep was off so I gave my laundry to the desk clerk, Usman, at 9am. He assured me it would be done by the end of the day so I wouldn't have to leave the next morning without clean clothes. That afternoon at 6pm I saw the bag with my laundry sitting by the desk and asked if it was ready. It turns out, it hadn't been done at all because the machine was broken. Had Usman let me know this earlier in the day I could have arranged for my laundry to be done elsewhere, but by the time I found out, it was too late. Later that evening I was enjoying a lovely dinner and live music at a nearby restaurant when I started getting multiple phones calls, voicemails and text messages from Usman using two different numbers accusing me of checking out of the hotel without paying my bill. I finally had to interrupt my dinner to respond and tell him that I had not checked out, I was at dinner and to kindly let me enjoy my last evening in Galle Fort in peace. When I returned to the hotel, Usman said, "Sorry, it was someone who looked like you who checked out." (Note: I am a short white woman with a shaved head. There are only 7 rooms at Mango House and none of them had another white woman with a shaved head in them.) Before accusing me of running out on my bill, all Usman had to do was check my room and he would have seen that all my things were still there. It was an unfortunate note on which to end an otherwise perfect stay. Galle Fort is a beautiful little town and with the exception of the one staff issue, Mango House is a beautiful little place. I hope the hotel provides Usman with some good customer service training; more thoughtful customer awareness would have been helpful.
• MM74L (6/5): Eclectic comfort - Mango House is located in the heart of Galle Fort making it easy to walk around the Fort to various sites. It’s accomodation that wouldn’t suit everyone - very eclectic , bohemian chic with some amenities requiring repair (eg shaky toilet). I was in the double bed balcony room which was small but for a solo traveller it was perfect. I found the linen, towels and room were all clean. There is an aircon and a fan in the room that work well. The courtyard is part of the onsite restaurant which I didn’t eat at on account of having a stomach bug from a previous location. Service is mostly good and attentive. The place suits solo and young travellers.
• John (8/5): Very pleasant stay at this very friendly and welcoming accommodation - Excellent breakfast, attentive and helpful staff, and very convenient location. The room was a bit dark. No views from the window.
