Guest Reviews
- Rachel (8/5): - This little gem was really a nice surprise ☺️. Absolutely loved the amenities and the uniqueness of the facility. Great food and drink options at the little restaurant that was attached to this hotel. The elevator was out of service and that was a challenge. The stairs are not marked well for people with limited vision and my friend fell on the stairs. But I really enjoyed all the peacefulness of the hotel. Also there was an outside garden for enjoying coffee and early morning meditations. Highly recommend a weekend getaway to this place if you are seeking a quiet spot and slower pace. 🥰
- Lenore (8/5): - Place was ok. It is a historic hotel.
- Gary (10/5): - Historic hotel that’s been very well maintained while keeping all its history and charm. Onsite restaurant was great!
- Jason (10/5): - Very nice old historical hotel, good food and drinks in the basement bar.
- Christopher (8/5): - Probably getting close for refurbish but overall good stay. Nice historic hotel
- Cheryl (10/5): - Nice
- Donna (10/5): Try this hotel - it's nostalgic - Cute older hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant in the hotel is very good.
- Peggy (10/5): - This is a quaint hotel in a quiet small town. It’s like stepping back in time. We love the unique vibe. If you’re looking for all the modern conveniences (big tv, usb ports, nightlife) this isn’t for you. If you want a quiet, unique experience, stop by. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and nice shower.
- Timothy (8/5): - Historic hotel that has been renovated. Nice saloon and restaurant immediately downstairs.
- Tami (6/5): - I Do LOVE old hotels like this one. I Love antiques and old things. It was really a nice hotel. The only thing that I didn't like that there was no small refrigerator, no microwave, and No telephone. These things are standard in most of your hotels now. I even know of some old hotels that do have these things in the rooms. Other then that, everything was great. The rooms were a little small, but that was just fine. To me there should be a phone in each room, what if you had an emergency? Not everyone might not have the hotel number programed into there phone. I know I didn't because I did my reservation online. So in the future, you might want to put phones in the rooms. Just in case someone has an emergency and needs some help, or just go call the front desk for information about something. So maybe in the future you might want to get phones in the rooms... Thank you
- Susan (8/5): - Very nice restaurant and bar and historical hotel. Interesting place to visit for one night.
- Bradley (10/5): - Great hotel! The staff were very helpful. The food in the barn behind the hotel was great! We will be back for sure.
- Shaun (10/5): - Great place. Great staff. Restaurant is amazing as well.
- Rachel (10/5): - Super unique place with a great staff!
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Worth the mile drive off the interstate
- Mark (10/5): - Great historical property well managed and maintained
Dinner was awesome !
Highly recommend!
- INGER (10/5): - If you are into small town quaint experiences but with modern amenities as opposed to chain hotels near the Interstate this is the place for you! This hotel has been maintained very well despite being built in the 1800s. There is a very good restaurant/ bar on property. It is situated within 5 minutes of Interstate 70 so it’s convenient. It marks the halfway point from Kansas City and Denver. The town is cute but not much left in the way of open businesses which is a shame.
- David M (4/5): Would stop again to eat but not stay - Tiny room but nice bathroom. No place to sit except on the bed.
Very unfriendly staff person in the kitchen.
Very nice restaurant in the lower level with great service and food.
Sleep-destroying air conditioner that cycled on and off every two minutes all night.
- Theresa B (10/5): - Loved the history and ambience of this hotel and town 💌
- Chris (8/5): - No ice available
Air conditioning did not keep up with the heat.
Should have a toaster available at breakfast.
Restaurant was awesome - food was incredible, especially for a town of this size.
Hotel atmosphere was really good
- kevin (10/5): - Great place to stay. Cute little town. Wonderful restaurant in the lower level.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Charming hotel -- love the old woodwork and the antique curiousities throughout! The rooms were up to date, but had a historic feel; towels were very soft and plush, the bedding also. We would definitely stay there again.
- DONALD (8/5): - Morning breakfast was poorly monitored, and something was wrong with water or coffee ability to be made. I watched several people waste Kuerig cups attempting to make some. The restaurant is fabulous.
- Susan (6/5): - Quant and historic was the key factors for this hotel.
Not the most comfortable beds, and it was a bit cramped with the furniture in that room. It was cool that it was so old.
The diner in the basement had great food and good drinks. That was the perk of the whole stay.
- Cindy (10/5): - Restaurant was great. Best meatloaf! Walked over to see the Czech Egg. Sweet place
- Christine (10/5): A trip back in time. - This place is overflowing with historic nostagia and country charm. I recommend this place for anyone looking to relax and get away from it all. Make sure to check out the Junktique antiques shop across the street.
- Mary (10/5): - We came for the forth year in a row for a race out at Wilson Lake. Great stay all around at the hotel and will be coming back!!!
- Amy (4/5): - It is overpriced. The room was tiny and so hot. We had to have the windows open and luckily i had a fan in my car. The walls are so thin, i could hear the individual in the next room snoring. I understand it is an old building and the history is cool but not for the price they charge.
- Kyle (10/5): - Great
- Donna (10/5): Old time hotel. - Such a fun hotel to stay at. Lots of old carved wood throughout.
Besure to have dinner in there restaurant. It was delicious and very reasonably priced.
- Tara (6/5): - If you are into trains, you will like this place. I thought it was quite charming and felt like we were in an old-timey movie. The local art in the display case and the Czech Egg statues were fun for a bit, but would probably be even better in the summer.
Our room was quite small especially for the cost and had a transom window with a red light outside that kept me up. Be warned that there's also a train nearby that goes through town a few times a day.
- Erin (10/5): - This is a cute and quaint historical stop with loads of character and time honored style. All of the historical details of the hotel remain intact and it feels like you are taking a step back in time. The room was accommodating and comfortable, outfitted with an antique wardrobe and writing desk. I wish I had more time to stay but was needing to get back for an appointment.
The staff was amazing, I had broken my ankle prior to my move to Wyoming. When I arrived (in the middle of the night) I informed the gentleman’s I had three large totes of live plants in my vehicle and asked if there was somewhere in the lower level I could leave them overnight. (It was -15 outside). He informed me I could leave them in the parlor. I thanked him and headed out to my truck to ponder how I would get them inside. Did I mention I also had my dog on a leash at the same time 😂. As I grabbed my bag out to take it inside the gentleman walked up to my truck and began grabbing the totes for me and taking them inside. I was amazed at his kindness and eagerness the help me. The small town houses a Worlds largest Czech egg and historical locations. The small gas station offered friendly smiles, fresh coffee and treats for the road. Go visit this happy little town and this unique 1899 hotel.
- Judith (8/5): A beautiful hotel - This is a lovely old hotel, but the room I was given (204) is at the top of the lobby stairs and was very noisy. I was awakened several times by noise from the lobby and kitchen. I'm certain other rooms are quieter.
- Khiry (10/5): - Great, clean place
- Mary (10/5): - Charming and clean place with ample parking out front :)
- Kali (10/5): - I love how vintage the property is. I also love how quiet the area is and how it’s not in a crowded town.
- Katharine (10/5): - What a gem this hotel is. Restored with care. Immaculately clean. Lovely bed linens. And such an interesting heritage to explore in our stop over. The town is fun too.
- Delbert (10/5): - Supper we had beef stroganoff. The meat was tough and fatty. The stroganoff sauce was very bland. Breakfast you had an option of toast muffins cold cereal, overall, the hotel room beds property were excellent. Have fun little town.
- CATHERINE (10/5): Second stay and loved it again - Lovely historic building, clean and comfortable rooms in small town Kansas. Very nice staff, too. A great alternative to chains along I-70.
- David (6/5): - unique experience at this historic location. But on Mondays there are Zero places to eat for 20 miles. Very remote location. Nice facility and clean.
- Ron (10/5): - Laid back stay
- Janet (10/5): - Our room was very small. My husband and I are small people and it was very hard to walk to the bathroom without being in the other ones way. Other than that, the room was fine and a step back in time but very pricey. Just not what I expected. Maybe I should have known from the era of the motel. The staff were friendly and helpful. There’s not much to do in town. We did have the BEST breakfast at the diner just a few blocks away called Made From Scratch. We also toured the missile silo which was only a few miles away. We also had dinner at the motel restaurant and it was very good. If you like staying at old historic hotels you would probably enjoy this motel. Also just basic amenities.
- Dana (10/5): - Very cool place. Loved it. Restaurant and bar on site. Food was great! Staff was very friendly. Loved the patio area out back and the firepit.
- andrew (10/5): Great hotel - This boutique hotel was fantastic had real character with great staff who were very interesting and the food was very very good as well - could not fault it
- sheila (10/5): Biking to the eggs! - We absolutely loved it. Our room was so beautiful. We loved the windows and the double sinks and comfy beds.
We enjoyed borrowing the hotel bikes and riding around to locate the 8 eggs.
Dinner was excellent!
We also enjoyed sitting in the garden as night set in.
- Karen (10/5): - Immaculatly clean.
- Richard (10/5): - Everything was great. We love this place. It's a really old hotel with a Restaurant downstairs. Was like going back in time. We love doing off the highway stuff.
- Nichole (8/5): - Very unique building. Loved the history and the music on the back patio. Only drawback was the window above our door let light in and it shined in our face which made it hard to sleep.
- Jill (10/5): Charming! - This hotel is absolutely charming! Cute room -- it felt like we had time-traveled into the past. The room was small, but comfortable. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious, as was the free breakfast. In the evening, there was an option to go outside on the patio for live music, or next door at The Barn for a drink. There are chickens in a coop outside, and a garden. We loved this place and were sad to leave.

- Susan (10/5): - Wonderful old railroad hotel in a funky old town in the middle of Kansas
- Cindy (10/5): - Very nice staff, rooms clean and comfortable. Unique place that is not your cookie cutter hotel! Very beautiful and quiet place to stay. The only con would be that there was nowhere to get anything to eat after 7pm in town. Had to drive about 20 minutes to another town to get dinner, otherwise stay was perfect! Would definitely recommend!
- WILLIAM (8/5): Nice surprise - This is an older Hotel but clean and well maintained. Staff was great.
- warren (10/5): - kool place to stay I love old hotels ! Staff is always nice
- Brenda (10/5): - The staff was outstanding!
- Audrey (10/5): - The Midland has so much old world charm! We loved it, but if you are looking for modern amenities, go to a chain. We thoroughly enjoyed the history of this place, the decor, and the fresh eggs. Highly recommend for adventurers and those who appreciate a unique experience.
- Karen (10/5): - Our favorite couples getaway place. 10 minutes from Beautiful Lake Wilson. Fantastic food. Great service and dog friendly !
- Katie (10/5): - They have done an excellent job integrating modern conveniences into an old-time hotel. The breakfast buffet was the best I have ever had in the U.S. There were European touches of a 5-choice coffee urn, bierocks, kolaches as well has good old American biscuits and gravy.
- Debra (8/5): - Did enjoy the historic nature of the property. Bed was very comfortable. Would be nice to have a ceiling fan and less stark lighting on the bedside table. Overall a pleasant stay. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Louise (4/5): - Disappointing stay: run-down town. Awful dinner . Unfriendly staff. Footboard of bedand stuck out. I ran into it during the night. Pointed corner hit my tum. Toilet behind door in bathroom. No grab bars in tub-shower. Sink cold tap (separate) only dribbled water, breakfast. Package oatmeal-no condiments. Only small dry looking oranges. Fake coffee creamer.
- Todd (10/5): - Property was even better than the pictures show. Clean, very quiet and lots of history in the building. I would suggest sitting in the lounge area and reading about the history of the area.
- Theresa (10/5): - Wonderful hotel in the heart of Kansas. We took our time to do a walking tour of the city. Enjoyed the staff at the hotel, the dining options and the tours we took in the city. They are doing a nice job of revitalizing this town.
- Nancy (10/5): - Love the location
- Patrick (10/5): - Quaint, charming, friendly, quiet, off the beaten path.
- John (10/5): I love the Midland - I absolutely love this hotel. It is the perfect combination of historic charm and modern convenience. It's wonderful to find such a gem in a small town in Kansas.
- Ashley (10/5): - Beautiful older hotel. Very well taken care of. Food was delicious. Was able to walk around the small town after we ate.
- Vanesa (10/5): Perfectly historic & charming - We had an amazing stay! Hotel was perfectly historic and charming, staff was very friendly, restaurant meal was delicious, and the town of Wilson is like stepping back in time. You definitely need to take a stroll around town to find all the decorative eggs. (Part of the towns history)
We travel back and forth from Alaska to Florida 2 times a year and we will absolutely be staying here every time.
- Pamela (6/5): - Property was lovely. Staff was friendly, very clean. I would pay more for a suite on any return visit.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Old, small room, dingy and above all, a shower without any water pressure. If like rustic, this is the best.
- Kenna (10/5): - Very nice place for a mid winter bluegrass festival!
- Ryan (10/5): Fun one-night stay. - Fun vintage rooms, dinner was well priced and drinks were great. Afterward went to the barn to watch the Chiefs game and had a great night.
- Sharon (10/5): Love the history - What a great place to experience! Loved walking around the historic town and the hotel is extremely comfortable and gorgeous!
- Heather (10/5): - Wonderful hotel with great history!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great historical hotel - Hotel Midland was so incredibly beautiful and what a find driving back from IL to CO! The history is so rich and it shows, walking around the area tells a lot about the landmark the hotel is. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was as expected, a little small but understandable considering the age nothing unmanageable. The breakfast in the morning was cute and fairly good, coffee and pastries. The place is incredibly pet friendly, we had our dogs and our floor had multiple other dogs and a cat! Everyone got along! The staff is friendly and accommodating. We happened to arrive as they were decorating for Christmas so it was fun to wake up to the decorations the next morning.
The only downside is the train that runs by sometime in the night/early morning. Our room was in front of the exit sign and a hallway light so both shined through the window above the door, the bed also happened to face that window. A shade over that would have been nice.
- Kim (4/5): - The room (101) was so tiny that we could not pass esch other, we had to walk sideways, one @ a time, and I only weigh 114lbs Also, that room is supposed to be "accessible" there is no way a wheelchair could get through, or even a person on crutches. We were very disappointed, we had stayed there before, and the other, not Accesable rooms, were much better size.

- LeAnn (10/5): - We were going to be arriving close to 9:00 pm and needed to eat. We called to find out what time the restaurant kitchen closed, and it did close at 9:00. However, the front desk suggested we could place a to-go order, so they could have it ready for us when we arrived. We did, and they did! Thank you so much for making sure we were well fed.
- Cathi (10/5): - We absolutely lived the hotel. The room was a bit warm so we opened all the windows. However, the train blew through out front at 2am... HORNS blarring!!
Pillows too BIG for us. Luckily ours was in the car. Breakfast & the COFFEE several types, expresso, latte, cappachino were AMAZING. Farm fresh eggs & homemade pumpkin bread & pastries. Supp & salad available for $8. 😋👍😊
- Catherine (10/5): Quirky place - This is an amazingly quirky Hotel. Once a very high-end hotel/restaurant, this hotel retains all of its original charm. There is not much to do in that town or the availability of food options. We came on the night that the restaurant was closed. We were offered chili but alas, we don't red meat. We also arrived at the time that the air conditioning unit was being shut off for the season and the heater had not yet been turned. We were thankful that they had an extra floor heater.
- J (10/5): - The front staff dealt with my check-in without enthusiasm and welcoming banter, but they answered my questions well and explained dining options and reservations. Dining options are broafened with both a classic American dining room and a barbecue "barn and garden". Altogether a far better value and experience than you will find in the larger cuties in central Kansas.
Dining 5 of 5 fir options, service, and taste.
Cleanliness 5 of 5 ... no explanation necessary
Safety 4 of 5 minky due to restorative lock choices
Breakfast 4 of 5 due to casual handling
Best travel value for traveling adults that I have found
- Alexander (10/5): - The quaint hotel with a great restaurant on site that served delicious food at affordable prices.
- Jennifer (10/5): Beautiful - The history was amazing. Beautiful , if you like old, which we do! Karen at the front desk was so nice!
- Leslie (10/5): - Lovely old building with the character beautifully retained. Really good home style cooking.
- Karlie (10/5): Historic and cozy - Loved this spooky and historic hotel! Gunner, who did everything it seemed, was amazing. The bed comfy. Restaurant yummy. Not sure what’s up with the creepy dolls but I adored that part ❤️🥰
- Sonja (10/5): - While traveling needed to find something fast! what a gem! Very interesting and cool! The place takes you back in history. Loved it all
- William (10/5): - The restored Railroad Hotel was amazing. Basement bar and restaurant are beautiful.
- Anthony (8/5): Historic hotel in a very quiet town. - We love historic properties to stay at; this one was no different. Room was very small, really no room to put large pieces of luggage if you have it. Thankfully there is an elevator. Nowhere to eat if you chose not to go into the basement of hotel for their restaurant. They do serve breakfast & have coffee. Was an odd stay bc we were told the night before that the entire town would be losing power at 8am & not turning back on until noon. Didn’t affect us as we were heading out early for another leg of our road trip.
- Denise (8/5): Wilson get a way - Clean
- Rachel (10/5): Superb hotel! - Very nice hotel, clean, comfortable and historic. Food was also excellent and the staff were wonderful!
- Jeanne (8/5): - Great place for art and history in a quaint small town setting. Beds, hotel, & room were clean, but older mattress was lumpy and difficult to sleep on.
- Wendy (8/5): Well worth the rating!! - We arrived close to 10 and we took the last room available. We made the hotel aware we had 3 people and would need a. Rollaway bed. They were very accommodating and super sweet to be sure we were happy with the placement of the rollaway. At breakfast the next morning it was delicious. Homemade sausage with cheese slices and a new baristas style coffee maker that makes specialty coffee for you. Delicious home made pastries as well!! Well worth the rating!!
- DAVID (10/5): Classic - Classic 1899 railroad hotel has been refurbished with good A.C., elevator, etc,
- Garett (6/5): - Staff was very friendly. Mattress was very hard however.
- Kathleen (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. It's a step back in time.
- Roger (8/5): Good stay - The hotel was in great shape and we enjoyed the old style they have kept. The only negative was that the mattress needs updated and the comforter was stained. The building was very neat with the original decor.
- Peter (10/5): - Great staff. Very peaceful.
- Terry (10/5): - everything was very nice
- Stacey (10/5): - Very authentic and nice area to walk around and explore the local terrain. Near beautiful Wilson lake which is lovely
So glad I stayed here
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms are very small but adequate. The staff was great. I did expect more of a breakfast.
- Janet (10/5): - This historic hotel has been beautifully renovated and updated, king bed very comfy. Nice restaurant too, a gem in the middle of Kansas!
