- F8611FJchristophere (10/5): Extremely helpful and courteous towards us we have stayed here multiple times and they have been very supportive - I can't remember the last time I had a great night sleep the rate is very reasonable the staff has been extremely helpful and courteous I've been staying at Hawkeye January, February and March and they have been really nice and clean I've really never had a single complaint about this motel.ive been to other hotels and it's like biting heads and legs.

If you are looking for an economical place to stay with friendly staff - this is not a bad choice.

- Lorna (8/5): - First impressions mean alot & the outside of the property does need to be maintained better- keeping grass mowed, pulling weeds out of flower beds, etc.. The room itself was very clean & functional. The bed was comfy & I had plenty of hot water for shower. Manager was very nice at check in. The refrigerator in my room did not have ice box which was disappointing as I use ice packs for my cooler. For the price, & cleanliness of room, it ended up being a nice stay. This motel is listed as pet friendly online & I did bring my dog which I kept crated when I was gone. I was charged $20 for a service fee which I felt was a reasonable price.
- Charlie (8/5): - Even though this is obviously an older property, it was very clean, and I was impressed with how the manager went out of his way to welcome me, including giving me a welcome gift of bottled water and a snack. Definitely unexpected, as was the wide selection of TV channels!
- Aimee (8/5): Very clean and well maintained. - Older motel, not fancy but very clean. Bed was comfortable enough. Desk clerk was very friendly and polite. Overall a good experience. We have family in Washington and have stayed at the other hotel in town. Hawkeye was definitely cleaner better maintained. This will be our hotel choice from now on.

Found out what it was for. 2nd the air conditioner was only accessed by climbing upon the bed ??? Luckily this 70 plus senior citizen did not fall. 3rd The air conditioner was LOUD??? Lastly there were extension cords on the floor to operate the lamps??? Cheap price, cheaper hotel.

- Marni (6/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful. The area surrounding the motel was pretty quiet and safe. However, the hotel room was extremely hot and muggy upon arrival. We ended up moving rooms because the air wasn’t working. It took awhile before the air cooled the other room as well. It would be nice if they turned air on prior to arrival.
- Kelli (4/5): At least it was clean - This is a VERY old hotel. The bed is as hard as a rock. The floor has “give” to it. The walls have zero insulation between them so I could hear the guy in the next room snoring all night. I was nervous to fall asleep because a swift kick could’ve brought in the front door, but I seriously woke up at midnight when I thought someone was in my shower. No one was in my room, but the sounds coming from the bathroom next door could be heard as clearly as if they were in my room. I was staying in the area for a race and really needed a good night’s sleep. Next year, I think I’ll just bring my camping equipment and stay in the Kalona City Park.

- Dorothy (4/5): Bait and switch - The room was no where near as nice as the pictures they use on their website. My room had lots of mismatched red paint splotches from repairs, the paint under the window a/c unit looked like it was melting. The window unit was extremely loud. The property is for sale so they evidently aren’t going to invest in updates which are sorely needed!!! I know it’s a small town so they’re weren’t many options. At least the room was clean!!!

The room seemed to be clean, however when I woke up in the morning, there were cockroaches crawling on the dresser. Praying we didn't bring any home with us!

- KATE (10/5): Plain- simple-old fashioned and great! - We were looking for a place to stay on a quick trip over Labor Day weekend. Washington was 20 minutes off the route but in the right direction. This hotel is an old fashioned motor court type hotel. We arrived late but were greeted warmly and found a small thank you bag on our bed with snacks and a bottle of water. Everything was very clean and comfortable. It could be updated cosmetically, but we have stayed at many newer places that were not as clean and welcoming. The room was very quiet and this morning feel rested and ready to resume our trip. Don’t hesitate to book here if you want a good nights rest and can appreciate a hotel that works hard to make you comfortable.

- Steven (8/5): Old School cool motel- - Old school motel operated by a fantastic couple. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. A small package gift was on the bed when I walked in containing a drink and treats. The only reason I can't give a 5 on condition is the window blinds were damaged and the window locks were not functional. Parking lot was also clean, no trash to be seen. I will stay here again, cool motel.

I purchased a can a disinfectant which was not able to mask the smell. I stayed one of three nights and felt dirty when I had awoken the next day. The front deck person was very accommodating and allowed me to cancel my remainder contracted days without a penalty fee - THANK YOU!

- Brandon (8/5): Hawkey Motel Stay - This is a great place to rest. Staff was great and price is right. It is older and outdated but clean which is what matters. Great value for the price. We stayed for a hunting trip. Has a fridge and microwave. Several restaurants in town.
