It was my marriage anniversary and we planned tour to srilanka with my wife and daughter. We booked junior suit. It's nearby to city center of nuwara eliya. Mr. Benedict, is a nice person. He took care of us very good. He arrange decoration in bar room with baloons and all stuff. He arranged very nice wine bottle and such a nice premium quality cake with sparkling ✨️ candel. Mr. Benedict and all staff really make my day. I cannot forget the all things they do for me and my family. Highly recommend for stay in nuwara eliya. Nothing to dislike

• Ulf (9/5): Wer England liebt, der ist hier genau richtig - Wer England liebt, wird das Glendower lieben. Ich hatte die Junior Suite und ein kleines Wohnzimmer mit Sofa und Sessel, selbstverständlich mit demselben Bezug wie auch die Gardinen. Extrem gut ist die Lage fast direkt neben dem Grand Hotel, wo man unbedingt ab 16:00 einen High Tea genießen sollte. Sehr praktisch ist es, dass das Glendower über einen eigenen Pub verfügt, in dem man abends bis 22:00 den Tag bei einem kühlen Tiger ausklingen lassen kann. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist gut.

• Sahil (8/5): - The location of the hotel was very good, supermarket right in the next building. The staff was exteremely courteous, and helped us plan our stay in Nuwara Eliya. The rooms are nice and roomy, super comfy beds and heater was provided for the chilly nights. The Srilankan breakfast provided was super yummy (and available in vegetarian options). I chipped off 1 star from overal ratings due to bathroom fixtures. On the second day we did not get any hot water in bathroom (essential in Nuwara Eliya where temps were as low as 11 celcius), the staff tried to allocate other room bathroom but fixtures were not working there either.

Impossible d’aérer la chambre, la fenêtre est cassée. Et pour finir le tout aucune pression dans la douche, au point que le personnel de l’hôtel a dû intervenir car plus aucune eau ne coulait. Cet hôtel a besoin d’être entièrement refait pour pouvoir pratiquer des prix comme ils le font aujourd’hui. Aussi, le petit déjeuner n’est pas bon.

Première chambre collée au restaurant, odeurs et bruits,, salle de bain vetuste. L'hôtel nécessite un rafraîchissement, notamment des salles de bain.

Lovely staff, a warm welcome and a delicious breakfast. Hotel sorely in need of updating and maintenance. It is a beautiful, historic building with many original features and the potential is enormous. However in reality the hotel bedroom needed repainting, upholstery cleaned, bathroom sealant applied and damp patches on the walls addressed. The bathtub needs to be re enamelled and skirting boards replaced.

Det var fuktigt inne på rummet vilket gjorde våra sängkläder fuktiga och det fanns ingen luftkonditionering. Men annars var allt toppen! Det var ju en gammal byggnad så det är förståeligt:)

Напольные покрытия сгнили. Матрацы черные, старые. Занавески оборваны, грязные. В номерах затхлый запах. Сантехника работает, но все болтается.

Vi hade inte räknat med att behöva ha med tjockare tröjor på resan, nu vet vi det!

• I5818IXdavidc (10/5): A Wonderful Little Hotel! - We were lucky enough to stay in the Glendower Hotel during the Ditwah cyclone of late November 2025, the most devastating storm to hit the area since 1947. For days there was no public transport, no internet no ATMs or card payment and no escape from the conditions. The staff were ALL endlessly kind and helpful to us; from cleaning staff to management I offer my sincere thanks. They too suffered from being unable to contact loved ones during the emergency but continued to provide an excellent service. We loved the hotel. It is full of colonial-style charm and elegance with beautiful gardens, a very convenient location but most importantly the professionalism of the small but dedicated staff. We thoroughly recommend The Glendower Hotel!

It was amazing — a perfect combination of a high-class hotel breakfast and a traditional Sri Lankan selection of dishes. As we were the only guests having breakfast early in the morning, Sharat offered us a personal, butler-like service. Our whole stay was an unforgettable experience for us backpackers, and we were truly treated like royalty.

Das Zimmer war sauber , hatte einen Safe und Kühlschrank. Das Frühstück und Abendessen war gut und sehr aufwendig serviert. Zum wohlfühlen. Das Badezimmer ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber sauber und groß.

The location of the hotel is in walking distance to the city centre and the Victoria Park which was great. The food was also good. We had a bathtub in the bathroom, but it had no stopper, so we could not use it. Also the rooms can get very cold during the night, so a heater could be nice.

• Annick (6/5): Needs a serious upgrade but very clean - The position is great to visit Nuwara and the old England vibe js spot on. Room was clean. Great to have the shower blocked off from the toilet area (not common in Sri Lanka!) The rooms need a serious upgrade and there is no heating so it was absolutely freezing in the room.
• Timothy (8/5): - The rooms are a bit tired, the staff are lovely. The location is good.
