- Katherine (10/5): - This is a very unique property!! This hotel is a section of a functioning monastery and historic hospital. Rooms are tastefully modern nestled along hallways of religious artifacts. The front door/main entrance is just up the hill from the train station. The back entrance is steps away from the main tourist streets of the area.

- Nicole (10/5): - I stayed four nights in this wonderful historic property right in the heart of the old city of Quebec. I chose one of the authentic rooms and was very comfortable. The whole place was welcoming and peaceful. The shared washrooms were bright and clean, and I never had an issue where there wasn't one available when required. The staff were friendly and helpful with information. I would definitely stay here again.

Very walk-able within the Old Quebec City...did not need a car for what we wanted to experience. The Promenade, Chateau Frontenac, Citadel, walk top of citadel walls, amazing restaurants which we need to return to try more! Book a private walking tour....early...certainly helps with orientation & history. Hotel des Augustines is ..actually....perfect.

It was a gorgeous space with a garden and sitting area and the best breakfast I have eaten in a while, which was included. The room had easy access to heat or air conditioning, Bathroom and shower were shared but it was the best shower facility of the four I experienced this past week In Canada. It is conveniently close to everything. I will make a point of staying here again when I return to Quebec City. It is a remarkable place in every way.

Fascinating museum, plus guests are encouraged to explore much of the property. A peaceful garden which I had entirely to myself on a Saturday afternoon. A restorative experience.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Tricky Hotel - Be careful when booking; you may get a room with a shared bathroom. What kind of a hotel that has rooms without bathroom, No TVs, or Fridge in the room. Even though i needed a room for about 6hrs to crash and leave in the morning, i was tricked in and charged extra $70, so i can get a room with a bathroom. I insisted to the frontend staff i do not need an upgrade, and just give me a room, but still they managed to charge extra $70 on top of the $170 room that i paid which didnt have a bathroom, tv or fridge.

Cons: Many guests arrive to find out they get a shared bathroom down the hall. Room size is less than 15 sq meter. Four steps from door and U hit the wall. No TV, Frige, or etc. But WiFi is great Breakfast is vegitarian.

The food was fresh and well made. The food at dinner was good also. They both were buffet style with lots os choices. Take the tour of the hotel and learn the history. It is interesting with the artifacts throughout the hotel.

The only downsides were that our bathrooms were down the hall and shared with other guests and gentlemen and tall women might have to duck to enter the short doorway entrance to the bedroom. Breakfast was great and the staff was very helpful. Each room is decorated slightly differently, but all quaint and cozy - a fun adventure!

The place has a calm and positive energy in it, I felt it within 2 minutes after I walked in. The kitchen has healthy good food. It is very close (like 5 to 10 minutes walk) to the tourist attractions and great restaurants. Highly recommend it.

In the contemporary rooms the bathrooms are very, very deep and could be awkward for a disabled person. There is no TV in the room. Kind, warm and welcoming people. This is an outstanding place to visit.

- michael (8/5): - The Monastere is a converted former convent. The rooms are in two wings built in the 1600s. They are small and minimally furnished. The bathrooms are shared in the hall. Though there is a floor with more modern rooms with private baths. The breakfast was good, though taken in silence. The location in the historic center was excellent. The Monastere is a good place to sleep, surrounded by lots of history. But the quiet and the small rooms are not for everyone.

This 1634 repurposed convent has modernized rooms, fabulous vibe, wonderful meals, exceptional museum, chapel, convent church, best location in old Quebec Cuty, and is reasonably priced for its location, amenities, and history! It is a MUST STAY … definitely NOT a party palace though … reason enough to book!
