- Camille (10/5): Second time at this hotel, perfect location to enjoy both sides of the Nile while in Luxor - Very convenient location to have calm and vibe of Luxor West Bank and be walking distance away from the ferry and boats to cross to the city center on the East Bank. Good breakfast in their beautiful garden. Good restaurant as well in the hotel if you don't feel like going out at night. Friendly and professional staff, they even remembered me from last time. It's not a luxury hotel, but all the necessary is provided. It is clean and the central garden brings a nice touch to the environment

- dean (8/5): - I booked this hotel at the recommendation of Gus Gleicher of Egypt adventure travels. I found him on YouTube. It was a pleasant hotel with the quaint courtyard and singing birds. It was a good location with a fabulous restaurant nearby called Bil Hana Wa Shifa Restaurant that served an incredible liver dish.

- Smith (7/5): Quiet & cozy hotel stay at an affordable price. - Our family liked the court yard. Very cozy and social. The food was very good. They include breakfast in the cost of the room. Which was fruit, cheese, bread, veggies, and omelet, coffee & tea. We also ate dinner there and had glasses of wine. Very affordable dinner for 6 of us. We loved that it wasn't on the main drag, with noise and air pollution. The downside is that a taxi from the hotel is $30. They have an indoor and outdoor dining area. Shower stayed hot for at least 10 minutes! Pool was open, but it was cold as it's January. I bet it feels amazing in August! I wished that the room for the 4 of us could have been bigger and that the room could have been updated like the room my daughter was placed in, hers was very nice. More modern.

- Camille (10/5): Excellent value for money and walking distance from the West Bank Ferry - The Garden was our highlight. To have breakfast in the garden every morning was a perfect way to start each day. We liked that the hotel was located in the heart of the West Bank action in little dirt roads. We were able to walk/sail to the East bank everyday easily. There are plenty of sail boats, motor boats and access the main ferry +- 8min walk from the hôtel. The shower head support was broken so we had to hold it by hand. It is not a luxury hotel and we knew it before booking, so little details like this were not a problem for us and clientele service was very good so it helped.

- Robyn (9/5): Great budget accommodation, check what is complimentary - The peaceful garden is delightful. Staff aimed to please. Breakfast and other meals were lovely. To my surprise wine was available. The pool was a bonus. We had no hot water in our room and only found out that it was not connected the morning we were leaving when a staff member finally understood us. Basic coffee bags were not free and were too expensive. Staff were very helpful until we had a complaint then they couldn't understand English. I didn't like feeling pressured to give a large tip for staff. The person who asked frowned on 200 pounds although he could see that was all I had left.

From the moment we arrived, we were met with smiles, warmth, and genuine hospitality — the kind that instantly makes you feel at ease. Each meal was a highlight in itself. The traditional Egyptian home-style dishes were bursting with flavour and prepared with such love that every bite felt like a cultural experience. We were looked after like VIPs, yet treated like old friends. After long days exploring the wonders of Luxor, the sparkling pool was a little oasis — calm, clean, and perfectly refreshing under the afternoon sun. The rooms are quirky, traditional, and spotless, blending Egyptian character with simple comfort. Mornings at Amon were pure magic. Sitting outside with breakfast, coffee in hand, we watched hot air balloons drift silently over the Valley of the Kings. There’s no TV in the rooms, but we didn’t even notice until our final night — who needs one when the rhythm of local life and the sound of evening calls to prayer fill the air so beautifully? Amon Hotel isn’t luxury in the polished sense — it’s something far more special. It’s authentic, peaceful, and full of heart. The kind of place that lingers in your memory long after you’ve left.
- Laurence (10/5): Un pequeño oasis dentro de la ciudad - Un pequeño paraíso en medio de Luxor. El hotel está en una calle tranquila donde se puede descansar sin ruidos por la noche. Nuestra habitación era amplia, con aire acondicionado y ventilador, perfecta para sentirnos cómodos. El ambiente es muy familiar, uno se siente como en casa desde el primer momento. El desayuno está riquísimo, y además tuvieron el detalle de prepararnos comida y hasta desayuno para llevar cuando teníamos excursiones. El jardín y la piscina son un regalo, un espacio precioso para relajarse después del bullicio de la ciudad. La ubicación también es ideal, muy cerca del embarcadero para cruzar al otro lado de Luxor. Pero lo que más nos llevamos es la amabilidad del personal: siempre atentos, sonrientes y con ganas de ayudar. Esperamos de corazón volver algún día. Lo recomendamos con todo nuestro cariño, 100%. Nada. Estuvo todo perfecto.

- Watanabe (1/5): Bad - Do not stay here. First of all, the hotel is in a bad location and inconvenient. The beds are clean, but the bathroom is dirty and there were 4 cockroaches that we killed. The manager overcharged us for the taxi to the airport on the way back (30$/2,000EGP for a 20-minute ride to the airport). He even asked for a tip for him, but we had no choice but to pay because the hotel is in a bad location and we have no other way to call a taxi. We will never come here again.

Arriving there our first impressions- not so great (down dirt side streets) however staff super accommodating and hotel room was fabulous. Lovely courtyard and pool, super value for money but not walkable to anywhere else. Wonderful Bed Lining !! Had Kettle, Fridge, A/C and WiFi.

- Mina (7/5): Good - The location is great since it is very close to the ferry and many great restaurants. The garden is a big plus too. For us breakfast was sufficiently good. The staff was kind and helpful. Facilities are rather old, almost everything in the room is old and the bathroom really needs some renovation. The same goes for pool furniture as well. The pool was dirty and poorly maintained during our stay (as seen in attachment). We got 1 towel for 2 of us which was anyway damp when given. The restaurant is much more expensive than others nearby, so you would be better off taste and price wise to explore other options around.

It's so nice to have this area. Staff: Staff were really friendly and kind Restaurant: Good food, not expensive Cleanliness/upkeep: You can tell the place is older, things are kind of falling apart (in my room a towel hook fell off the moment I tried using it, and the shower curtain rod was basically falling off the wall) Smell: The smell of the sheets isn't great, I think they hang them to dry outside but seeing as the air smells like burning fire most of the time the sheets smelled kind of gross. Comfort: The beds are old box springs, not great. Vs the price though I can't complain about these things !

- Nail (4/5): Lack of Flexibility Cost Them a Positive Review - I had an unfortunate experience with my reservation at Amon Hotel. Due to a mistake on my part, I accidentally booked my stay for a day earlier than intended. As soon as I realized this, I reported the issue to Hotels.com, and they made multiple attempts to contact the hotel administration to request a refund. Despite their efforts, the hotel refused to process my refund, even though there were very few guests during my actual stay. Hotels.com genuinely tried to assist me, but unfortunately, the hotel was unwilling to accommodate my request. I believe a more customer-friendly approach could have made a difference, especially given the low occupancy. Unfortunately, due to their lack of flexibility and understanding, I cannot leave a positive review. I hope the hotel reconsiders its policies in the future to provide better service to its guests.

- Vinith (6/5): Out of the way, no elevator, overpriced food - The hotel is located out of the way on the West Bank of the Nile, and in a place like Luxor, with no Uber, taxi drivers rip you off to get there. The neighborhood is not great, with unfinished brick buildings, but Amon Hotel is presentable, with a small front desk and finished outside. There is no elevator in the hotel. The room is nice, but basic - not even a telephone to the front desk. There are no dining options nearby, and the dinner we ate at the hotel was way overpriced - all the prices were in dollars, and equivalent to 5-star prices for 2-star food. The included breakfast was a bright spot in our stay - we ate in the hotel garden, and breakfast included an omelet, yogurt, breads, cheese, butter, etc. We used an app called InDrive (you bid on your ride) to get around in Luxor.
- Seth (10/5): Nice family business on the west bank of Nile - This is a family owned hotel on the west bank of the Nile. Just FYI - the Valley of Kings and Valley of Queens, as well as some other temples and tombs you'll want to see, are on the west bank. But most people live on the east bank, and you'll want to visit that side to see Karnak and Luxor temples. So first decide which side you want to stay on. Both have advantages, but in short, east side is busier but has many more options for dining. By contrast, west side is easy going, you are just a few kilometers from some remarkable historic sites, but don't expect to get a drink. If you decide for the west bank, then you can't go wrong with this hotel. It has a very lovely garden, staff is kind and helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is good, and there is a small pool (although it was too chilly for us to use).

From the service we received, the friendliness and welcoming of the staff, and the beautiful rooms and courtyard making our stay one of the most memorable and lovely times since we’ve been in Egypt. We also really enjoyed the food that was prepared (breakfast and dinner), making it very easy and convenient to have a meal without having to leave the hotel. The cost of the hotel for us was very reasonable. The staff were really nice and helpful. We highly recommend this lovely gem of a hotel for anyone staying in Luxor. It’s a ways out from all of the bigger and busier areas making our stay that much more relaxing and pleasant. Thank you for an amazing experience!

This was the holiday of a lifetime for us. - We loved the location - on the quieter West Bank of the Nile, in a village where everyone knew each other and was so friendly. As we were there for two weeks, we actually felt welcomed into the community. People knew who we were and said hi - just from friendliness. There wasn't the stress of the highly touristic East side where the posh hotels are. We felt we'd made a great choice for our budget. The hotel itself was lovely. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast & the lovely evening meals we took in the gorgeous garden were great. They were made memorable by the kindness and friendliness from the staff. Staff were happy whether we ate at the hotel or chose to go out - we just let them know our plans in the morning. There are lots of good local restaurants - but we especially enjoyed 'Africa' and two right on the river 'The Lighthouse' and 'The Nile Rose'. We also loved a very nice cafe called Moon Cafe which had just opened. Good WiFi, lovely music, perfect cappucinos and amazing biscuits. We also ate there some evenings, and although the menu looks simple, the dishes were divine. Back at the hotel, hot water and WiFi were great 95% of the time. There was a fridge in the room and the staff gave us the use of a kettle - which we hugely appreciated. The pool was a boon for cooling off at the end of a hot day, and pool towels were provided. Mohamed, the proprietor, helped us plan our trips and sourced the most wonderful guide for us. As a group we were really interested in the historical and cultural details. Our guide, Mahmoud, had a PhD in the Coffin Texts. He was well connected and extremely well informed. We know from eavesdropping on other tours by less qualified guides that we had very high quality input. Mahmoud was very encouraging to one of the teenagers in our party with a passionate interest in history. There was nothing that we didn't like (apart from an exchange rate hike - which made the trip much more expensive than we had planned for). The little sachets of shampoo provided had permanent black dye in them. I imagine it's a shampoo widely used in Egypt - but I only realised after using it twice, and others mentioning it, that my light hair had darkened significantly. Not a problem for me, but it could be for others.

- kenzab662 (10/5): Charming family run hotel - Amon is an extremely charming hotel with a beautiful garden and nice new piil, a cheap five minute boat ride away from the touristic centre of Luxor. Its the perfect choice for those who want an authentic experience. Mohamed, the owner, and his family are wonderful, warm and welcoming hosts. The rooms are simple but very clean.

It is basic compared to large hotel chains but very clean and the service is warm and friendly. The food at the hotel is delicious and inexpensive plus you can buy beer! The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot. An extra piece of soap would've been nice. Their laundry costs are quite expensive but their is a local laundry nearby that charges only EP10 per piece. Because it is located on the West Bank, you save lots of time getting to the main tourist attractions.

It’s less than a 10-minute walk from the ferry and once you are off the main road, there are signs that point you where to go and the hotel is clearly marked. The owner is very nice and his kids are fun - they showed us all around the hotel and were very welcoming. It seems to be a very family-friendly place. The rooms are simple but clean and in good condition. The atmosphere of this hotel is very peaceful. And they were kind enough to arrange a driver for us for everything we wanted to see. We would stay with them again!

The locals in the town centre can harass you extensively, but those in the neighbourhood just want to say hello or get on with their day. I haven't always felt safe in Egypt travelling solo, but here I feel completely at home! Every single member of staff is fantastic. Not all of them speak much English, but they'd do anything to make your stay more comfortable. At least three of the staff speak English well: The owner, Mahmoud, usually hangs around the hotel but also lives locally and treats his guests like family. Ahmed will always greet you with a smile and a warm welcome and Talab is a perfect gentleman who will drive you wherever you need to go. The rooms are divided into three blocks, which have been added at different times. Block one has the best rustic feel. My shower wasn't working properly and Mahmoud proposed a number of solutions. Eventually, I moved to a room in the newer block. Most rooms overlook a beautiful green courtyard with exposed and shaded outdoor seating and a pool. There is also a restaurant on site with indoor and outdoor seating. Everything is reasonably priced, tours can be organised in house, and there's a little shop around the corner for things like bottled water staffed by a couple of lovely ladies who speak no English but will not rip you off. Note, there is a mosque nearby which can be quite loud when announcing the call to prayer and that may not be to everyone's taste. Personally, I feel it adds to the charm and it hasn't yet woken me up at night. Access to the populated East Bank and museums is via a ferry that is a 10 minute walk away and costs just 10 EGP per way. Solo traveller, 34

- Jonathan (10/5): Nous aurions pu habiter là 😉 - Nous avons été super bien accueillis par Ahmed dans un endroit paradisiaque et relaxant. Ses enfants et le peronnel très souriants ont été un plus à notre séjour. L'endroit est très propre et la nourriture de son restaurant est très bonne, fraiche et variée. L'accès d"une rive à l"autre est proche et pas chère en ferry. Et vous n'êtes pas dans la cohue de Est Bank. Nous recommandons vivement cet établissement
- Christoph (8/5): - Das Zimmer war großzügig, ebenso das Bad, Das Bad war offenbar erst vor kurzem erneuert. Alles ist gefliest und gut gereinigt (und bleibt es auch). Das Zimmer hatte eine gut funktionierende Klimaanlage und einen leisen Ventilator, man hat also selber die Wahl,was einem gerade lieber ist. Auch ein kleiner Kühlschrank ist vorhanden. Das Hotel verfügt über einen hübschen bepflanzten Innenhof in dem auch das Frühstück serviert wird, dort findet sich auch ein kleiner Pool. Angenehm ist es auch mal auf die ansonsten unbenutzte Dachterasse zu gehen, zum Beipiel um morgens in der Ferne die Ballone am Hatschepsuttempel aufsteigen zu sehen. Die Lage des Hotels ist angenehm, der Fähranleger ist in fussläufiger Nähe: eine günstige Möglichkeit zur andern Nilseite und dort direkt zum Luxormuseum zu kommen (von mir -deutlich alsTourist zu erkennen- wurden zwischen 7 und 10 Pfund verlangt). Es sind auch viele kleinere Lädchen für Getränke und Speisen in der Nähe. Besonders toll fand ich die Möglichkeit, dass mir von Hotel ein Fahrrad besorgt wurde, mit dem ich alles auf der Westseite gut erreichen konnte. Auch das Tal der Könige (inkl. West valley) war trotz leichter Steigung mit dem Mountainbike in problemloser Entfernung und der übrige Verkehr rücksichtsvoll. Preis: 200Pfund pro Kalendertag. Dies war meine erste Station in Ägypten so kann ich im nachhinein sagen, dass das Essen im Hotel OK aber im Vergleich auch etwas teuer war. Fazit ich würde wieder dort unterkommen wollen, Empfehlung.

One of the staff members was romantically interested in me, which was very awkward because I have a fiance. He and the man next door both expressed their interest in me and did not stop asking even when I expressed I am not interested. However both men are very lovely people and so is the rest of the staff. I wish them all the best.

- LEEANN (10/5): - This hotel is a diamond discovered by reading reviews and choosing one with no less than 9/10. Fortunately, Amon was the perfect hotel for us. The staff was friendly and always delivered what we needed. The breakfast and lunch was delicious and memorable. The simple room had everything we needed. Our balcony overt looked into the courtyard and when you’re in the courtyard you feel calm. Should I get back to Luxor, I’d be sure to stay here again.

Very helpful and nice staff too. A great place to stay with a convenient access to Luxor's main attractions - the tombs. Rather poor breakfast (probably because included in the room price), no advertised safebox (an apparent error in the description). The management could be nicer to the complaining guests. :)

- Evgeny (7/5): Hotel provides basic accommodation on the West Bank; a few things are left to be desired - A nice courtyard, good WiFi, friendly and helpful staff, close proximity to the ferry and West Bank restaurants, heaters are available upon request though not allowed to leave them on overnight. The rooms are underwhelming, with almost no amenities (e.g., no shower curtain, one towel per person, no shampoo, etc.). The breakfast is basic (1-egg "omelette" anyone?), and you have to pay extra for additional coffee or even butter (while not being warned that it costs extra until the checkout).
- Anoop (4/5): Mostly disappointing - I expected more based on the reviews. I was traveling solo and picked the cheapest room, but even so, in comparison to similarly priced rooms in Cairo, this room was quite bad. Maybe it was because I checked in late at 11PM, but that makes it even more important to have the room ready for a tired guest. The toilet seat had urine stains, there was no soap, and the shower was broken. All of this was fixed the next day, but these are basic things. And the hot water ran out in under 10 minutes, maybe the heater was old. The water pipes made this wailing sound whenever someone in the building used water I guess. And incredibly, the water was shut off in the middle of the night probably to stop the wailing. I had a bit of food poisoning (yeah, great few days), and I had to use the little water left in the pipes in the middle of the night. I also had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to my room, in the older building, which is fine as I am fit, but still an effort when sick. On the positive side, the garden dining area was very peaceful, and the staff were friendly. And the breakfast was good. But I really can't recommend staying here based on my overall experience.
- Malte (5/5): Below expectations - The common area is nice. An evening fire place and a cozy inner garden makes it homey. The place is close to a mosque which will wake you up at 5 a.m. Also the facility was most basic. My room did not have and hooks to hang anything, the wifi did not connect and after having asked repeatedly if they might know why it wasn't their concern anymore after I left it. The breakfast is bad. It's no real coffee, one orange, some break and butter and 1 egg. For the price relatively speaking it is far below my expectation. Unfortunately, the newly built building seemed still half in construction as the floor of my room was still all dusty too. The first night I did not even have soap and they forgot towels too. Neither the service nor the facility were good for the price.

The neighborhood is traditional and very photographic. I enjoyed the ferry ride across the Nile to the accommodation. From the photos, I thought the place might be more stylish, but it is very outdated. The staff was quite unfriendly and did not accept our request to cancel the reservation. The shower in the bathroom was broken and the water leaked out into the room. Thankfully someone came to fix it.

- MujdatS3 (10/5): A peaceful gem in West bank of Luxor - We stayed in Amon Hotel for two nights and it was excellent. After spending two weeks in Egypt in different cities and hotels, I can say Amon Hotel is by far the cleanest, the most peaceful and the most professionally managed hotel we experienced. The rooms and the bathrooms are spacious, balconies overlooking a lovely courtyard garden with lots of trees and plants well taken care and a the soothing sound of water cascading in the manmade waterfall. The breakfast is rich, the receptionist Mr. Mustafa and the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The manager and the second generation owner of the hotel Mr. Mohammed is really kind. It is clean and comfortable, with a beautiful garden and restaurant, where you can get authentic home cooked Egyptian food that is really delicious (I recommend eating dinner here at least once during your stay!). It is located in a quiet neighborhood close to the ferry to the East Bank, but also close to all the attractions on the West Bank like Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple. The staff are welcoming and eager to help you navigate Luxor. They are great tour guides! I recommend the Amon hotel to all my friends!

This hotel is on the west bank which is much quieter and near the main sites (valley of the kings, nobles etc). A lovely boat ride takes you to the main temples on the east bank.
- Tommy (10/5): A pleasant and relaxing place to recharge while traveling abroad. - Mustafa and his staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and refreshing after a few long days of travel. The hotel was far enough away from busy roads that it was very peaceful and quiet - we only heard the sounds of animals which was nice and it's only a short walk from the Nile River. Luxor is an hour flight from Cairo and a good central location between Aswan and Abydos. We'll be staying at the Amon Hotel when we return! Nothing!

- Dhahab (10/5): Amon's Tropical Garden is a beautiful place to relax and dine - The Amon hotel was the very first family-run hotel on the West Bank and the hotel has a stunning tropical garden with fascinating flowering plants and trees, what a great place to sit and have your breakfast or dinner! The hotel staff is courteous and treats you well. Also at the hotel is a large meeting room with class-room style desks and chairs, for groups to study the famous sites and have discussions before and after visiting the famous sites, The hotel has lovely clean rooms and is centrally located, just minutes from the Nile River and 5-10 minutes drive to Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple. Around the corner of the hotel is Nobi's Stables, offering fabulous trail rides on calm and well-looked after horses and camels. Do a sunset ride into the desert for only US$25! Just past the stables is Atta bakery with delicious baked goods and European style croissants and buns. The owner of the Amon hotel, Mohamed, welcomes you :)

The hotel was clean, the garden/courtyard was beautiful and relaxing to eat a meal that is availabile at any time made by the hotel, and the room was just what my friend and I needed after a long train journey from Cairo. The best part of the service however was the care the staff took when I fell hopelessly ill and need to desperately be taken to hospital. The went out of their way and made sure i was brought to hospital and that i had the medicine necessary to recover. The hotel staff was like a friend and didnt leave my side until we returned to the hotel and even then they checked in on me to see i was okay. True Egyptian hospitality, thank you Amon! 🙏

The staff was kind and always ready to help, the rooms were very clean and we loved having an a different animal made with our towels everyday! Our favorite was the crocodile haha!

A peaceful haven, clean and spacious rooms with fans and air conditioning, balcony, fridge, comfortable bed and basic but adequate clean bathroom with shower. Great location, lovely garden, helpful and friendly owner and staff. Good food and breakfast included. Mohamed, the owner, can arrange anything you need and is unfailingly helpful like all the staff. Safe, welcoming and a quiet relaxing atmosphere with an oasis of a garden. You are well looked after and while the rooms are basic rather than luxurious they are all you need. Perfect base for exploring the area. Highly recommended.

The staff were friendly and accomodating, location convenient (just a short walk to the ferry) rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean and most importantly, the food was delicious. We organised most of tours through the hotel owner or manager, and they were always kind enough to have breakfast available for us no matter how early we needed it. Highly recommend.

- dawnannes2022 (10/5): The Amon Hotel, Luxor - I have stayed at the Amon Hotel several times. It is a small, welcoming, inexpensive, family run hotel on the West Bank of the Nile in Luxor. The accommodation is quite basic, as reflected in the cost - but is clean, spacious and comfortable. There is a lovely, tranquil tropical garden, where meals are served. The food is good - all fresh produce purchased daily from the local market. It is an ideal place to stay if you want to explore the many famous ancient sites - The Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, the temple of Hatshepsut…… or take a sunrise hot air balloon ride. Mohamed, the hotel owner, can arrange these local trips as well as those to sites further afield - to Dendera or Abydos, for example. He will also do airport transfers.

We always could contact the management of the hotel and got good advice and help. All employees made us feel welcome. You will find short ways to the ferry and some well organized shops. Next time we would like to stay here again.
