Guest Reviews
- Paul (9/5): Really lovely stay! - Beautiful isolated location
Helpful staff Minor point but would be great to have tea making facilities in the room
- Sebastian (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - Fabulous beach view, helpful and attentive staff, quite, clean pool. Would happily recommend
- Tom (1/5): The most overpriced hotel I have ever stayed at - Attentive staff who did everything they could to try and fix what was ultimately unfixable The blocked shower drains. The lack of hot water. The lack of WiFi. The bathroom smelled of urine. There was no water pressure for the shower whatsoever.
- Nour (8/5): -
- Dennis (10/5): From check-in till check-out, fantastic! - Home away from home!
Simply lovely!
The ocean view, the breakfast…surfing next door etc, etc, etc
- Marine (10/5): -
- Martine (9/5): Superb - The hosts were super friendly, service minded and kind. Air condition made some noise, but it was working good.
- Carol (5/5): Two weeks at Kottukal Beach house - Property managed by Jetwing built in 2013 I think would have been lovely in its day
4-5 rooms each with own bathroom
Can book whole resort
Has a pool and we were able to use Jetwing pool
We had an upstairs room with verandas
Lovely view
Bed ok and aircon and fans worked
Serviced daily
Good breakfast standard fare
Staff very helpful especially Hasif and Manager of Jetwing who arranged yoga and a couple of free dinners
Enjoyed all the animals and the quiet spot compared to ARUGAM Bay busyness Poorly maintained and needs a spring clean - water often disappears and pool murky not cleaned daily
Curtains in rooms need replacing and bathroom a bit stinky in mornings
They tried to sort pool after I commented but seems to lack a pool vacuum . Umbrellas and loungers need fixing or replacement
Whole place could do with a good paint
- Valeriia (10/5): Exceptional - This place is absolutely beautiful with stunning views all around! The hotel itself is big, stylish, and very comfortable. We really loved the nature here — everything is so green, peaceful, and full of life. The atmosphere is amazing — cozy, private, and relaxing.
One of the highlights for us were the dogs — so friendly and sweet, they made our stay even more special! 🐶
The hotel doesn’t have too many rooms, which makes it feel more private and exclusive — perfect for a peaceful, quiet holiday. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help with anything.
The hotel has a large area with beautiful spaces, amazing design, and lots of places to relax and enjoy. Everything feels thought-through and high quality.
We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it! 💫
- Mark (10/5): Amazing - aragum bays best kept secret and way quieter - Amazing beachfront property. Exclusive location. Lovely colonial home Road access in and out
- Anne (9/5): Superb -
- Russell (10/5): - Almost a year since our last visit to this magnificent beach house. Such a glorious setting with a great little pool surrounded by so many tall palm trees all fenced off from the deserted beach at the edge of the property. This hotel is really quiet and peaceful taking only a maximum of eight guests at any one time. It is remote but still easily accessible by tuk tuk to nearby towns though you’ll be hard pressed to match the candlelit dinners served in the evenings on the veranda; the cuisine is first class as is the warm hospitality. This is a truly atmospheric location. Many thanks to Hasif the manager and Malik the chef and the rest of the small team for making our stay so enjoyable, especially the delicious birthday cake for my wife! So thoughtful.
- Dinushi (8/5): Very spacious place - Rooms are Bigger bathrooms are bigger.
Unspoiled beach, very nice big garden. Entire property is very spacious.
Staff is super nice There were no mosquito net in our room. They provided mosquito repellent but it didn’t work.
No Tea making facilities in the room.
Very basic room.
- Simone (10/5): Great stay, beautiful location with very nice staff. We really enjoyed our time here. - The WiFi in the room did not work, for us this was no problem but we can imagine that some people want this.
- Kusalana (10/5): Exceptional - service was exceptional
views are stunning
food is tasty!
value for money. pool is not very well cleaned.
nasi goreng was served with papadam instead of prawn crackers.
breakfast was a set menu and it was better if there was alacarte menu also.
- Daniela (10/5): Amazing place to stay - We loved our stay at this beautiful beach house, surrounded by beaches. It was so quiet there. We had the best walks and sunsets at the beach. Breakfast and dinner was very good. They even provided us with a breakfast bag to take with us when leaving for a safari at 4.45am. And laundry was done too (and it was never that clean and smelled so good on our trip. Staff was great. Thank you so much, would love to come back! That we could not stay longer.
- Samuel (8/5): Very good -
- Javier (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisle (10/5): The Kottukal Beach House felt like a home away from home. It was peaceful and relaxing. The staff were excellent and the - The Kottukal Beach House felt like a home away from home. It was peaceful and relaxing.
- Elzbieta (10/5): Wonderful place to stay with amazing staff - This is a beautiful beach villa, colonial style, with a lot of privacy. Wonderful location, really excluded, fantastic views. Great and very helpful staff. Rooms are spacious, well equipped, very clean, so are the bathrooms. We had there everything we needed. Tasty and full breakfasts. You can eat lunch and dinner at the villa and I don't agree that they are overpriced, as some guests mentioned in their opinions. Dishes were tasty and various, priced as in an average restaurant in Arugam Bay. Overall, I wish I could come back here one day, maybe in a larger group to have the villa for our own. Only 3 nights there, I wish I could stay longer :-)
- Dr. (10/5): Exceptional - The location is wonderful, it felt like a home away from home, there’s only 4 rooms and it’s a very family style athmosphere. All the staff, Faahim, Malik and Subahan were incredibly helpful, and representing Sri Lankan hospitality and kindness at its best. The food is homestyle freshly cooked, and simply delicious. Our kids were obsessed with the house dogs, who accompanied us to the beach for a walk and swim :) we miss this place already and hope to be back soon!
- Jacqueline (10/5): Absolutely delightful - AMAZING FIND! Beautiful Villa, peaceful, clean, amazing Staff and Breakfast. The Hotel next door was also amazing staff and food for evening meal which was a very good price for the quality
- Srimal (10/5): Awesome place to stay - Food and the staff wre so good and friendly. The room was clean and fresh
- Igor (10/5): I will be back to stay longer. - Private place, you live in the villa with maximum 4 rooms for guests and 6 staff.
I spent 3 lovely days there in which 2 days I was alone in the villa. 6am morning swim, chat and help fishermen, get lobsters and ask the staff to cook me a lobster omelet. It was wow.
Next morning I got the king prawns and ask to cook in butter and garlic with sprinkle of white wine. OMG.
You would never have the same treatment in average hotel. The guys were amazing. I found and rescued a puppy and guys were very helpful.
The team has 3 house loyal dogs. If you who are reading it are “allergic to dogs“ ask in advance and don’t creat a drama together with a gay dramatic looking boyfriend ( my experience on arrival). The sentence-“ darling pack the bags we are leaving” was epic.
- Bernadette (10/5): Romantic secluded 5 star beach house with great little pool for early morning swims plus deserted beach for long walks - - This must be the beach house that every architect wishes that he had designed! Completed in 2012 eight years after the devastation caused by the tsunami, it stands defiantly on a beautiful secluded beach front property. Surrounded by over a hundred coconut palms to the sides and rear with the front garden edged by several frangipani trees, it is has been purposefully built for the sultry Sri Lankan climate. The two storey residence has front and back terraces on the upper floor which allow for the cooling sea breezes to sweep through it. The accommodation comprises of two very large en-suite bedrooms on the upper floor either side of the house, each with their own private veranda accessed through four double sets of folding French doors allowing the rooms to open right up to the elements if so desired. A further two villas are adjacent to the house, one on each side thus allowing a maximum of eight guests.
There is a deliberate colonial feel to this residence; planters’ chairs on the upper front terrace are perfect for an aperitif before dinner while you watch the sun setting and the birds roosting - look out for the red & white Sea eagles. Dine then by candlelight on the upper terrace to the rear overlooking the illuminated grounds while listening to the crashing waves in a truly romantic setting. Malik is an up and coming talented young chef who will not fail to impress you with his culinary prowess. Sri Lanka is known as the Spice Island and his knowledge and use of the different spices with the local organic produce available is first class, you certainly won’t want to eat elsewhere. Hasif is a most welcoming host, very attentive without being obtrusive. He runs a very happy household and it has been wonderful to have been guests here. Thank you.
- Shivani (9/5): Superb -
- Matan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manavi (7/5): A gem in arugam - Location view place is fantastic to chill private beach.stunning furniture fabulous bungalow with a great vibe.
To die for views.fantastic beach Staff was all over the place. . No tea. Coffee in room no breakfast.
Surf restaurant overcharged the menu price.food not up to the mark
- James (10/5): Best stay in Sri Lanka, hands down - So special to celebrate a best mates 30th in your beautiful surroundings x
- Russell (10/5): A taste of paradise - Last night in Sri Lanka. Memorable!
Get up early to see the fishing catch on the beach with Dan the hotel dog...
