Guest Reviews
- Diana (7/5): Good value, above average hotel in historic Oaxaca City - Good location, clean, friendly & helpful staff, good food at its restaurant. Good value. Not luxurious but certainly above average. On a busy street but across a large park.
- Roman (7/5): -
- Theo (8/5): It is a nice clean place with a great location and friendly staff. - It's a great location right on El Llano and the inner courtyard is beautiful. The restaurant is also very good and quite convenient.
- Martin (10/5): Como y agradable,buen precio - Si Todo bien
- LETICIA (8/5): -
- LETICIA (8/5): - LA PICHANCHA DEL BAÑO NO FUNCIONA BIEN, SE ESTANCA EL AGUA
- Victor (1/5): -
- Kevin (4/5): - This hotel was clean.
- Laura (8/5): - Hotel was clean and well maintained with a beautifully designed garden. It is very peaceful in a busy area of the city. Very happy to have stayed there.
- Eric (6/5): -
- Lucero (4/5): - LOS TRABAJOS DE MANTENIMIENTO QUE NO SE HAGAN DE NOCHE PORQUE GENERAN MUCHO RUIDO Y NO PERMITEN DESCANSAR
- Inocencia Silvia (8/5): - La ubicación
- Omar (4/5): - It's an old house that lacks maintenance and needs a room upgrade, only the bathroom looks new. The location is great and it could be an excellent choice for business or pleasure traveling alike.
- Paradise02663752458 (4/5): Too expensive for very bad food - Too bad! Food without taste, very generic, bread was like stone and old, table was unstable, staff never fixed; and the prices are very high for what was the food so the only thing you pay is for being in an old house, just that… it doesn’t worth to be honest I never recommend being there
- Ross (6/5): Enjoyed my stay with the exception of the poor internet. I have an Amazon firestick to receive news from back home and s - Location good, opposite the park.
Classic old hotel
Friendly staff Very poor Internet—impossible to stream live tv or anything
Room small basic, but clean and functional
- Kokopeli69 (6/5): Bad sleep due to super noisy all night AC unit - Bad sleep due to super noisy AC unit in room 19. We took a shower and water did not drain at all. Flushed the toilet and huge pool of water on the floor making it risky and dangerous of slip and falls. Plug 🔌 used by the desk did not charge at all my cell phone.
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional - The food at the hotel restaurant is also very good!
- Stefan.k (8/5): It met my expectations; the hotel has a lot of potential due to its garden. - What I liked most is that it has a garden and the old building at the Lobby area. The location is also quite good, a 7 minute walk to the Santo Domingo Church. They could renovate the rooms, they are in good shape but need an extra to be above average. Also the rooms that are on the back side of the hotel need to be better integrated into the rest of hotel.
- Kathleen (10/5): - We love the location - Los llanos park. This hotel is great. Staff excellent. Cafe great. Vibrant - people in lobby. Safe. Walking distance to cafes & fun. Have already recommended to a friend.
- Mary (8/5): - Lovely old place friendly staff decent restaurant, nice garden courtyard, blackout curtains, air conditioner/heatpump style in room, very convenient location but noisy traffic bring earplugs
- Jane (7/5): Disappointing - Good location although a bit out of the way.
Attractive older buildings Noise from street morning and night. Early morning music from exercise class in park across the street! Maid working outside window at 7am
- Theo (9/5): Superb -
- Emil (5/5): Great location, outdated rooms - Excellent location right next to a great public square in Oaxaca. Beautiful hotel Extremely dated rooms. Double beds very narrow and short in length.
- RUBEN (8/5): - Very good location. Food at the restaurant really good. Even it needs some renovation in the rooms, they are spacious, and comfortable. It us a very giod option to stay in Oaxaca.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely staff, comfortable room, great location. - quiet, but close to everything. All was good!
- EDUARDO CRUZ (6/5): - ….
- Marianela (9/5): Will probably stay there again but will make sure the air conditioner and tv were was working - Restaurant staff and front desk staff were great.. The internet was very slow. The air conditioner and tv were not working
- Ana (10/5): Wonderful hotel at a great location, very clean, and with extremely friendly staff. - I truly enjoyed staying at La Casona del Llano. The location was perfect, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, the bed very comfortable, the hotel was very clean, and the free wifi worked very well. It is a great value for the price. It exceeded my expectation in every way. I will stay there again when I return to Oaxaca. I cannot think of any negative aspects to point out.
- Manuel Adrian (8/5): - Habitaciones, cómodas,
- Ronald (9/5): It is a good hotel and price. If you want glitz, restaurants, tourist zone, pay more and enjoy it. - It was reasonable close to the dentist. The motel rooms behind the historic home were slightly dated, but were absolutely fine and impeccably clean, with a comfortable bed. The neighborhood felt very safe. The park across the street a coffee shop a block away were very nice. All doors closed with a loud bang. Dining Room in the historic home portion was very nice but street traffic noise was very loud at times. It is not in the tourist zone downtown with many restaurants and markets.
- Luis Daniel (10/5): - Muy buena ubicacion
- Eligio (10/5): - Centrally Located and Great Breakfast
- iris alvarez (10/5): - Todo excelente
- Roberto (10/5): - Todo muy bien
- Roberto (10/5): - Excelente
- Abiazer (6/5): - Necesitan reparar el aire acondicionado no enfría
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Staff is great! Room 28 does not get WiFi signal. Hotel is noisy across the street from park.
- HUGO (8/5): - lugar accesible buena ubicación.
- Karlene (10/5): - Great place to stay - easy walking to many historical sites & markets.
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Ricardo (9/5): stay 1 week . very good service will stay again when i go back on vacations - Close to local attractions , very clean and quite place to sleep. Bed could be comfortable by updating.
- Winnitowy (6/5): Fine old hotel but maybe could use a bit of an update. - Only ate breakfast once at hotel. Good food and service. Hotel has quiet courtyard. Cleaning staff were very good. Previewed three rooms with king beds and all were less than adequate. No chairs in courtyard for relaxing.
- Kenny (7/5): Great location, a bit run down. - Location was amazing, stuff was very nice. No hot water and the AC was broken in our room. In general the rooms were pretty run down.
- tessa (10/5): - Excellent location across from park. Rooms open onto a pretty garden. 15 minute walk to the zocalo. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Lucero (10/5): - TODO PERFECTO 👌
- Ritu (4/5): Disappointing -
- David (8/5): - We didn’t like our particular room much, but it was quiet, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant quite acceptable. The location of the hotel is excellent.
- Abel (8/5): Very good -
- Eduardo (7/5): Good -
- Ivan (10/5): - Super amables, lugar a gusto para dormir
- José (8/5): Pleasant - Great location and very typical architecture It was noisy because it’s located on a main street
- Lukas (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mitzy Adriana (10/5): - Hermosa
- Anonymous (9/5): In all it was a great stay in a beautiful place and wonderful people. - Grounds lovely. Very good to have grab bar in shower. Staff very friendly and professional as well. Loved it. If bedspreads and curtains more in keeping with Mexican colonial theme it would have been great. Rug for floor at shower only there one day.
- Victoria (4/5): Disappointing - The hotel is close to the Bus Terminal, just 10 min walk. Another 10 min walk to the center of the city. The rooms were very clean, towels white and fluffy, daily housekeeping. Great water pressure, and great air conditioning. Our rooms were right above the reception (not in the main building, overlooking the courtyard). NO internet there. NONE. I had to go downstairs to the lobby to be able to use it. The receptionist is not very friendly. As soon as we walked in she said that we did not have a reservation. I showed her my Booking app with the reservation. Took another 5 min and another person to find it. Than it took another 15 min and 2 more people to figure out the right remote control from our A/C unit. The rooms are very noisy (the concerts in a park were going on till 11 pm) plus the traffic noise. TV had only 2 channels. No internet. The room decor is from the 60's. The rooms were small, but the bathroom was an adequate size. Can't recommend this hotel, sorry.
- Oscar (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- NEREYDA (10/5): - Good Service
- Chuch (9/5): Excellent location and well services ! - Clean , well service, I can manage to check in sooner than the expected, The check out was easy and the place was really cool located . The parking space is a little complicated because of the stretch space
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was excellent. Too much traffic nearby. A bit too loud to truly enjoy sitting outside on the terrace.
Drenaje y moho.
- eduardo (10/5): - Nice place to stay. Recommendable
- Molly (9/5): A real old fashioned hotel with all the services, with rooms facing a lovely garden, at a good price - This is a very pleasant hotel and a real hotel, unlike many listings. There is a front desk that is helpful, a restaurant open 7am-11pm and the rooms are cleaned spotlessly every day. The rooms face a lovely, green quiet courtyard, so you can open your window and get a fresh breeze, unlike many hotels in Mexico. The room was spacious with a fan and tv. The place is located across the street from a park which is noisy on Saturday night.
- Rothoehler (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect . WE loved our 16 day stay ! would recommend it !
Tamara and Uwe .
- Constance (3/5): Poor - The location was super. Llano Park gives one a look at the real everyday life in Oaxaca City. Whole families and kids of all ages roller skating, playing ball, doing Zumba, walking, band practice, kids practicing their dancing. Not many tourists. So nosy we didn’t sleep for four nights
- Olga Vega (8/5): -
- Valerie (9/5): Superb -
- Miruni (6/5): Clean, cheap, friendly, but I didn’t like it - The room was clean and cheap, and staff was friendly, but otherwise I didn’t like it. Bathroom fixtures were old and worn. I had to stick my arm into the toilet tank a few times to adjust the flapper. The towels were clean but frayed. The bed was hard, as others have said, though I didn’t have any problem sleeping on it. The AC worked well, and the ceiling fan was great at night.
Nice garden, but no shade and nowhere to sit. Parque del Llano, a nice spot where local kids play, is across the street.
It’s not far, but the last few blocks of the walk from Santo Domingo to the hotel are dark and isolated, which I don’t like as a solo female. The first night, the power was out for the last two blocks of the walk and at the hotel. Power came back on as I entered the lobby. Luckily I had a little flashlight with me. The power went out again a day later, though only momentarily. That was twice in the two days I stayed there (after having spent eight nights in another hotel where the power never went out).
In a room overlooking the garden, I was far from the busy street out front and the park, and it was quiet enough. I did hear loud banging/exploding sounds around 10am on Sunday morning.
I stayed somewhere nicer for eight nights before this that cost about 50% more per night. I decided to extend my trip because I loved Oaxaca that much, and my original hotel was full. For me it was worth the extra money. If your budget is lower, try Oaxaca Real Hotel before this one.
- Jeff (8/5): Very good - Lovely restaurant with good food and great service, good location and good value Rooms could use better beds and windows that kept out more of the noise from the busy, main street the hotel is on
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice comfortable hotel - Good location within walking distance to Centro. Nice park across the street to purchase food from numerous vendors at night. We had a great breakfast at the hotel to start off our day before touring around. First mexican hotel/resort that we've stayed at that had plenty of hot water when taking a shower. The wifi didn't work in our room, but was available in the lobby and restaurant areas. Overall, we had a nice comfortable stay at this hotel and was reasonably priced. The washroom was small, but served our purpose. We stayed there for four nights and would stay there again.
- JESUS (8/5): - Things that I liked:
1) Centrally-located. Easy walking distance to most attractions in Oaxaca.
2) Easy to book tours to local attractions.
3) Friendly and accommodating staff. Very helpful!
4) Excellent value for the money.
5) Very good attached restaurant.
Things that I didn't like:
1) Bed mattress was very firm/ hard and made good rest very difficult. After a long day of hiking at Monte Alban or somewhere else, you want to be able to recharge, and those mattresses made it nearly impossible.
2) I had ants in my bathroom most of my stay. Not that big of a deal, but annoying.
3) I had a lower floor courtyard room. The bathroom window had a "frosting" on it to try and provide privacy. Unfortunately it did not ensure complete privacy, and was partially see-through. Again, not sure this is that big a deal but a lot of people want complete privacy in those moments.
- Christine (8/5): Very good - Great location - an easy walk to the historic centre. It was a little noisy around there, but everywhere in Oaxaca is a little noisy, and things mostly quietened down for sleeping. The staff were very helpful, and the cleaning staff did a great job on the room.
- Charlotte (8/5): This is my first trip to Oaxaca and friends recommended it. It truly did not disappoint. Clean - Staff was wonderful! Restaurant was very good. Location gets an A+!
- Mary (8/5): - Well located in the historic area. Beautiful park (llano) across the street.
- Dalgleish (8/5): We loved Oaxaca and would return but to a place with a kitchen so we could shop in the market & cook - The location was great. Close to things we were interested in and close to good restaurants. Loved Parque Llano across the street. There was a beautiful courtyard garden which was one of the reasons we were attracted to this hotel. But there were no places to sit in this garden. It would have been wonderful to be able to relax and read or whatever in the garden. A simple thing to do that would make a big difference.
- R (9/5): pleasant hotel in quieter location - the location is great. the classic old building and garden very pleasant they lock up the compound at an early hour, be forewarned if you plan to come home late.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Andrey (8/5): Very good - The room is large. The breakfast (paid separately) was excellent. Parking area is very small. The street with a rather extensive trafic is near the hotel.
- Nancy (9/5): Superb -
