• victor (2/5): Nada recomendable - Las instalaciones en general muy deterioradas, nada que ver a lo que muestran en la pagina, lo peor de todo no dormimos ya que desde las 8 pm y hasta las 5am el antro o bar que esta enseguida con la musica a todo volumen. Tengan mucho cuidado con las atenciones que te ofrecen en el bar barba Rosa ya que cuando llegas te preguntan solamente si estás hospedado puesto que ya te incluye el desayuno continental te llevas la gran sorpresa que te estan cobrando el desayuno continental de la carta, lo que se hace una falta de respeto. En general esta equis el lugar NO vuelvo, la atencion de los chicos de recepcion excelente trato Osvaldo y Julio

The front desk receptionist, Claudette was very, very nice and helpful! If it wasn't for the club noise, the location is great.

No hay toallas suficientes para la playa. No es cierto que están frente al mar , hay que cruzar un club de playa Para llegar al Mar y si lo usas hay que consumir , para que té buen trato . • Brenda (6/5): - Las cabañas están bien ubicadas, fácil acceso a la playa, restaurantes, bares y relativamente cerca a la plaza principal. La habitación es espaciosa y sencilla, la cama cómoda. Nos hubiese gustado q tuviera un refrigerator o nevera pequeña. El bar enseguida colocaba su música a muy alto volumen hasta dos y tres de la mañana lo cual fue algo incómodo. A ratos no había agua (creo q es un problema general de la isla). La atención de Ana, en la recepción fue buena al igual q la limpieza de la habitación por Israel. Las playas de Holbox son encantadoras y los atardeceres espectaculares. Como fuimos en Febrero no tuvimos la oportunidad de ver el tiburón ballena ni los flamingos rosados. En general la isla está muy cambiada. Nosotros fuimos en el 2014. Ahora hay sobrepoblaciom de taxis y turistas. Personalmente creemos q la isla no tiene la infraestructura suficiente para la demanda q hay en estos momentos. Nos comentaban los locales que eventualmente las playas se van a privatizar, no que sus muy lamentable. Igual recomendamos que la conozcan, la visiten. Tiene restaurantes y bares muy buenos con comida variada ☺️

• Sandra P (2/5): - Check-in not ready when we arrived at time was the first of a stayed with very noisy moments along all day and night, very bad attitude of service from lady at reception, low quality of furniture and bath sink broke without cold water. They use a “beachfront” word in advertising in a tricky way so be careful.

We spent as less as possible time in the hotel, during all days we enjoyed the wonderful beach but in the nights we had to deal with this bad place. Outside the hotel was loud music during all the night until the early morning, The walls and windows did not hold back that noise. Hard to fall into sleep if you feel like in the middle of a dance club. Never ever again I would join this hotel. The price was definitely not worth it. It’s a shame that this hotel is listed in expedía.

There were no amenities-coffee or coffee pots, safe, limited beach chairs and most were broken, one bath towel per person no hand towels. Our room was supposed to be ocean view with a hide a bed but the view was of the garbage next door and there was no hide a bed and wires hanging out of the walls.

El destino es de descanso y es ilógico que atrás haya un antro donde hay música toda la noche y no permite a los huéspedes descansar. Las camas solo tienen una sola sabana, y en la noche si llega a bajar la temperatura no hay con que taparse.

• Martin (2/5): - The only thing to like about this property was the beachfront beds. Location next to the most noisy club beach-bar was exhausting. Music sops around 2:30 AM. Mattresses of the beds were awful, and the staff, like other people here warned me for already, does not care about the guests. TV did not work, toilet malfunctioned (but fixed) and the place is literally falling apart. They don't know how to run a hotel properly and choose to ignore the guests, at best.

• LorraineSF (8/5): In The Center of the Action! - A really lovely, friendly hard-working family and their staff made this an enjoyable stay. As noted by other reviewers, the disadvantage to this hotel is its proximity to a beach bar that doesn't get going until after midnight. The music is mostly house so the beat makes it hard to sleep through, accompanied by a very loud generator. Holbox hotels, however, are quite expensive so this is a deal if you have really good earplugs. While there are no frills, the bed was comfortable with good quality cotton sheets and cushy towels, soap and body wash. They provide beach towels and 25 peso beers and 50 peso cocktails make it the cheapest spot to hang out on the beach. Sheets and towels are changed daily along with room service.

Good shower, room fine.

CM offers camping and shared cooking, washing and dinning areas which makes it feel like a hostel. The only reason we would not return is there is a "beach club" next door which blares Latin house music till 2 A.M.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Great Location, friendly service. - The Casa Maya is perfectly located right on the beach and is within a few blocks of the town square with many incredible food options. It is also right next to what's probably THE best beach bars on Holbox. Very convenient for people like me, who like to get late night drinks. On the other hand this could be a problem for some guests - as the bar plays loud music until extremely late, on weekends until 4am or longer. Our room (the only one with a king size bed) is especially close to that bar, so the noise could be less of a problem in other rooms. The hotel is more like a series of converted beach huts on a very nice large compound with a great old-school vibe. The whole thing has very much of an attractive budget feel without a hint of luxury. The room we had was right next to the reception/bar, so there wasn't a lot of privacy and you are awoken early by music and people checking in or out. It's a great big room, bathroom and shower are extremely basic and the water temperature is almost impossible to control. Definitely needs some work... There was daily and very detailed room service. We had an excellent stay at the Casa Maya. But in retrospect the place seems a bit expensive, the other hotels nearby had a much more premium and luxurious feel and build quality. Bottom line: I would recommend the Casa maya if you are looking for the most economic place on the beach and in town - and if you are ok with some trade offs in quality and don't mind loud music.

Instead, for more than US$160 / night we were awake until 3am every night from the loud party music outside next door, shower drips, no coffee / tea maker, no hair dryer, no real beach towels, no safe to lock valuables. MUCH better places to stay for this money on the island.
