Guest Reviews
- Andrew (10/5): Amazing hospitality in a beautiful neighborhood only minutes from the center - Lovely, peaceful residential neighborhood with cobbled streets, art murals, and mountain views. It was about a 15-minute walk to the center. The staff were respectful and kind, anticipating our needs. It felt like we were staying with family but with the privacy of our suite. It was perfect for us, and we would definitely want to return here for our next Oaxacan adventure. The mattress was not as new/comfortable as what one would expect in a luxury hotel. Also, opening windows and turning on a fan is needed to combat the July heat. Still, we managed to stay comfortable.

- Hil (8/5): Very good - The location was great. I stayed here during Day of the Dead celebrations - its a safe neighbourhood, with local activities and street parties (and is an alternative to Centro, which is really only 15 min walk away). Also some great local cafes. The accomodation is basic, but clean and comfortable, helpful staff with daily room service, and a great verandah.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Mafalda (9/5): Very nice place to stay on - The location, in a nice quiet neighbourhood close to the center. The house is really cute, with a really nice terrace. The owners are really nice and helpful. N/a
- Julia (8/5): I recommend Casa Xochimilco. It's safe, you have all the basics, it's very clean. - The staff and owner were very helpful and kind. The water pressure in the shower was a bit low. The water was nice and hot though.
- Diana (8/5): Very good -
- Gerard (9/5): Superb -
- Abdullah (9/5): Superb - 15 minutes walk to the center, very welcoming and helpful staff, they would suggest you things to do or places to visit and they will help you with anything related. Plus the pillows were really really comfortable! Na.
- Yorllana (6/5): We enjoyed the stay, Noe was very confortable and we loved the rooftop. Close to Muertos festivities and Xochimilco ceme - The nice helpful and the place was clean. The place is more like a hostal than a hotel. There was no AC,but the host gave us extra fans.
- Tom (7/5): Good - The location and helpful staff. The room was a bit cramped and I believe they had better rooms available which weren't offered to us, even at an additional cost.
- Rosen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ed (5/5): Passable -
- Elya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marco (7/5): notices and smells make me un happy - the property looks ok as a traditional house. the bed wasn’t confortable, the room wasn’t spacious the washroom was super small and they have a sharing kitchen just beside the room that all the smells and noises from others guests make uncomfortable stay.
- Yannis (10/5): felt like home in an amazing and safe location just 15 min walk from center! - location and looks like a house!
- The (10/5): Exceptional - The owner was super nice and helpful. Whenever we asked him something whether about the hotel, a tour, the city, a taxi or anything else, he always did everything to help us. We would come back anytime. Theres also a nice terraza to chill on the rooftop.
- Stephen (6/5): I was surprised that this hotel could be allowed to operate. - There was nothing I liked about the hotel.
During the day, the hotel being situated just on the edge of town, was very quiet. The following reflects my experience only. I am puzzled by the high rating of this place. I sometimes find that single travellers get dumped in any old room. This is certainly how it felt. The window was blocked by some staircase; natural light was virtually absent. The room was so small , it made me feel depressed especially given there was no natural light. One third of the space was taken up by a kitchenette which was so old it looked as if it were installed in the seventies or before. The pots and pans were old and so thoroughly used, you wouldn’t even pick them up in a second hand or charity shop. The sheets and bedding were so old that any pattern on the sheets had almost disappeared; they were so thin that I cannot see how they could possibly absorb the normal body heat and sweat of a sleeping person. Such sheets had no business on beds which people pay to sleep on. Even as rags, which these sheets were fit for, they would have a one-use shelf life. It felt unclean sleeping in the bed; I slept on top with jogging trousers. The front of the toilet bowl was so close to the wall that I was unable to stand up unless my legs sat astride the bowl. The shower head was immovable because some calcium compound had fixed it stiff. Last thing , and the only one of my complaints which the owner of the hotel is In no position to address , were the neighbours’ incessant barking dogs for half the night. I think in the end I fell asleep through exhaustion, think to myself « how can anyone sleep in this neighbourhood » mind boggling.
- Mila (8/5): Very good - This is the cutest hotel ever. Every wall is painted and decorated and the roof top terrace is amazing. The rooms are simple and not very modern, but for us that was fine. The family who runs it are very kind and can tell you a lot about Oaxaca. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood, with lots of nice street art. You can walk to the centre in 10 mins. The water pressure it not very constant so it will take a while to have a shower.
- Jordan (2/5): Very poor -
- Dean (9/5): easy going, laid back environment, good value for money and only a few minutes walk to the main busy areas. - friendly and helpful, clean and comfortable. good price for a good room.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dean (8/5): friendly clean and convenient. nice area a little walk away from the hustle and bustle. great view from the roof patio. - Noe was/is a great host, clean and eclectic.
- James (7/5): Good - this wasn’t the usual place in which we would stay. it was dia de los meurtos so everywhere was booked and we had no choice- as such i decline to comment as it’s not a hotel or budget that we’re used to. the owner was lovely and friendly and helpful. as above, although for a budget hotel that I haven’t been to before, I couldn’t believe how gross the shower head was, a toilet that couldn’t accept toilet roll so you have to put poo stained paper in a bin, a broken window, and wobbly sink tap, a gas cooker that looked like it was from a 1960s caravan… and so much furniture in a tiny room it looked like a bric à brac shop.
- Alonso (8/5): Very good - Check in was quick, location is ok, taxis easy to find or to call
- Sabine (10/5): a gem in a beautiful location - the host, the location, the roof top Terrace, the colourful decorations, the cleaning crew the mattress was a bit hard
- Maya (10/5): Very nice - Cute guesthouse in a great location owner was really nice, let us check in early and leave our bags. Close walking distance to the center.Has a great terrace too.
- Daan (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (2/5): this hotel does not seem to exist - The Taxi driver and/or locals could not find this hotel. It does not seem to exist. I will be requesting my money back.
- uh, clem (10/5): excellent value - helpful, friendly staff, very nice safe neighborhood, 10 or 15 minute walk from the oda/occ bus station and the downtown zòcalo, clean spacious room, everything needed to cook and keep your food. not only would i recommend this to a friend, i already have recommended it to both friends and fellow travelers.
- gonzalo (4/5): - Buen servicio poco cómodo como solo lo ocupe para dormir era importante el tema
- diana (6/5): Nice room, clean and simple - The owner was very nice, they carried our bags, called taxis, provided us with directions, activities around, information about the town, and even allowed us to use the phone for no charge. They are available 24/7. We lost our room keys and at 2 in the morning he came down and open for us. The rooms are very simple, and only has the basics. There is a small stove in which you can cook (didnt use it) and a tiny refrigerator. The rooms are small and the beds hard. No restaurant available and the terrace is small but are able to see part of the town.
- Howard (8/5): A quiet, comfortable place not far from town - This hotel is a great choice if you are looking for a family-style place that feels more like a home because it actually is a home. It's about a 15 min walk from town and is located in a quiet neighborhood. The staff / family are very friendly and accommodating. It's helpful to know some Spanish because they spoke no English to me ( except for one family member who greeted me when I arrived but then left town; apparently to San Francisco where I'm from!).
