- Udaya (9/5): - Very nice

- Evy (10/5): - Great location! Nature at your doorstep! Several wonderful walks just start from outside of the hostel. Big dining area, well-equipped kitchen. Very friendly and helpful staff. Common facilities (including sanitary facilities) were very clean. Very good value for money. If you don't have your own car, you're dependent on public transport in order to get food.

- Mark (7/5): Great scenery. - Excellent location for us travelling along the Traws Eriryi trail.
Excellent staff, very helpful.
Comfortable beds, plenty of room. Very limited bike storage even though I messaged ahead. We were unable to store our bikes. A bigger shed would be a good idea.

The staffs are amazing and there are very helpful.
Welcome you with a pleasant smile.
I really enjoyed my staycation with Idwal cottage. The public transportation service is very limited to the location. So need to plan ahead the journey.
- Megan (10/5): One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Great for solo travellers. - Amazing location overlooking stunning mountains and lake, the beds were so comfy aswell. I stayed here for 1 night after hiking Snowdon and was the perfect place to relax. Kitchen had everything you would need and everything was really clean. -
- Beth (8/5): Quiet, friendly, welcoming, helpful - Good kitchen for multiple people to cook at once, nice to have a separate quiet lounge Not a big issue but maybe having a plug socket closer to the beds??

- Kevin (10/5): I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend there and look forward to my next time - I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this second YHA experience. The hosts were very attentive, friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for me. The free car park was just opposite. The kitchen was impressively large and had everything needed. The drying room was a good idea. The WC room was very clean and large enough to change in. The shower cubicle was a also large enough to change in, clean and dry, and didn't have or smell of mold. The bedroom had good ventilation, night light, and quite doors. Very good value for such little cost. I will return soon The bed could have been a bit longer as I am 194cm tall

- Sjors (8/5): Definitely recommend, cheap and simple! - Cheap and simple. Don't expect much fancy stuff. It succeeds in giving you the basic needs, a bed, toilet and shower.
Big kitchen area, self-catered. Enough supplies and cooking utensils to make yourself a whole banket if you'd like to.
There's also a drying room where you can hang your clothes, shoes and gear to dry after a wet hike.
Washing machine provided as well.
The bunkbeds are quite nice, shared the room with 5 other men. Doesn't really bother me to sleep in a dorm.
Also the hostel is very closeby to a multitude of startingpoints of some amazing hikes (Tryfan, Y Garn, Lynn Idwan).
Voor de Nederlanders: de hostelmanager, Saskia, is Nederlands, dus je kunt altijd in eigen taal een praatje maken! Nothing really.
- Rakulan (9/5): -
- Katarzyna (10/5): Perfect! - Very clean, amazing atmosphere. Many hiking tracks just at the door step. Full kitchen. Nice cozy lounge area and spacious dining area. Also very warm. Radiators on when you needed. N/A

- Johannes Antonius (10/5): -
- Agnieszka (10/5): Wonderful - The hostel is located in a wonderful spot in the middle of the mountains. It was wonderful to relax there and admire the scenery. The staff was incredibly kind. I felt like I'd known this lady for years. I will definitely be back. I highly recommend it!
- Ewa (10/5): -
- Inci (10/5): - It’s a very quiet and peaceful hostel, mostly attracting older guests and hiking enthusiasts. If you're planning to hike Snowdon itself, be aware that this isn’t the most convenient base unless you have a car — public transport in the area is limited. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for the Snowdon hike unless you drive.
That said, the location is perfect for other stunning hikes in Snowdonia, like the Devil’s Kitchen and the Glyderau range — absolutely incredible scenery right on your doorstep.
The hostel staff were genuinely lovely — super welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. I had forgotten to pack a rain jacket, and they kindly let me borrow one from the lost property so I wouldn’t miss my hike. It’s that kind of thoughtful, friendly service that really makes a difference. Would definitely return for a peaceful hiking retreat. We were a bit unprepared — this wasn’t the fault of the accommodation at all. Just a heads-up: bring all your food with you, as we didn’t expect Bangor to be so quiet, and public transport in the area isn’t very reliable.
- Nithin (10/5): - Fantastic view outside the cottage
Spacious bunker beds liked it
- Hyett (8/5): -
- Amanda Jayne (10/5): -
- Adam (10/5): -
- Laura (9/5): - Great location for hiking in the mountains. Hot water, comfortable bed, warm radiators and a fully equipped kitchen where you can easily cook dinner or breakfast. The hostel is small but very cozy and pleasant. The only downside is that you can’t check in before 5 pm, but apart from that it’s really excellent
- Szymon (10/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): - fantastic stay... perfect location and a really good price. Staff were lovely and facilities were spot on
- khalil (10/5): - the staff 👌👌👌 nothing
- shubham (4/5): - I liked the location and the check out staff was very nice and helpful. Check in staff was a bit irritated as I had to change my booking preferences.
Also, YHA charged too much for a 2 bed dorm room where you are going to still sleep in a very small room and in a bunk bed only. 55 pounds for that is too expensive. The room's paint was coming off the wall. And it was a tiny room.
Looks like they charge you for both the beds even if you are going to sleep in only one.
Also, it was not my choice to take 2 beds.
- Paul (8/5): - Great location, good facilities Nothing
- TDR13 (9/5): Great value for money. Great location! - Perfect location for hikes and buses north and south. Large well equipped kitchen. Good sized private showers. Fridge space a little limited and beds not super comfy. 5pm check in is pretty rough (all YHAs)
- david (6/5): Ok - Location Staff did not inform change of door code. Yes internet is limited but a simple text message would get through at some point.
- Faizan (9/5): -
- Kara (8/5): -
- Erna Megawati (8/5): Great - The property is surrounded by beautiful nature and is easily accessible by bus. The staff were very nice and helpful. The internet connection in my room was very poor, and I couldn’t get any signal. There was no power socket near the bed, so if you are on the upper bunk, you have to climb down to charge your phone or other devices
- gareth (5/5): basic and expensive. - Location was great and staff were friendly. myself and 4 kids paid 200 for one night - a single room not much bigger than a cupboard, and 2 bunk beds in one room, where there is no hot food served and not even towels provided. In Europe 200 would get you a decent hotel. It is a general problem in the UK that holiday accommodation is very expensive and the YHA is no exception for what you get.
- Simon Scott-Hayward (9/5): - great spot great staff and great like minded people nil
- Larysa Olei (9/5): Goot hostel in a beautiful location. - Goot hostel in a beautiful location. Everything is very well organized and convenient. The staff is super friendly -
- Stanley (8/5): Nice staff and nice place - you don't have to pay Full day parking for the day if you just stay less than 4 hours
- Joel (10/5): -
- Stanley (10/5): Amazing location and staff team - Staff were amazing facilities and location are fab. Will definitely be returning thank you for having me 😁 rooms get a bit hot when full so leave a window open
- Kiara (10/5): -
- Martin (6/5): -
- Yuk Sim (9/5): -
- Emma (9/5): - Very clean accommodation, comfortable bed and provided everything I needed for a very reasonable price.
- Tom (7/5): - Location Price for a hostel
- Jan (10/5): Fantastic place - Room was very nice, of large size and with a really comfortable bed, perfect for a good night's sleep after a hike. Well-equipped communal kitchen and lounge and dining rooms.
- evans (7/5): - No breakfast, kitchen was good I think £60 for the single rooms is a bit expensive for the facilities offered. Especially if you considered what the budget hotels offer. No complaints as it completely served its purpose nevertheless that’s what I felt.
- Saket (9/5): -
- Omodiale (10/5): -
- Samuel (9/5): -
- julian (10/5): -
- Graham (8/5): I stayed with my son and granddaughters. Paddle boarding, hiking in the mountains, exploring. - Location is incredible, the staff were helpful and friendly.
- Illia (10/5): -
- Mando (1/5): -
- Yan (9/5): - Location, price and cleanliness. A bit noisy because of the bathroom doors.
