Guest Reviews
- Alan (10/5): - Excellent accommodations. Excellent location.
- Ron (10/5): - Staff was excellent especially Wednesday afternoon check-in. Don't remember her name but she handled the check-in procedure in a speedy and most professional manner.
She at all times was pleasant, cheerful with a sincere desire to make everyone in our group feel welcome and tend to our requests.
She is an asset to your organization an excels in what hospitality means. Ron & Linda
- Ronald (10/5): - clean
- Isabel (8/5): - We loved everything about this property, until my son and I spent 2+ hrs in the water park. I wound up with rashes on my skin, extremely irritated, and burning sensation in the eyes, and my son had a severe allergic reaction to the chlorine, and chlorine burns under his eyes. It was so bad, we had considered the possibility of an ER run had eye flushing, and Benadryl not worked.
My son is on a swim team too, so we’ve never experienced this before.
I think they maybe using a harsh amount of chlorine or chemicals to compensate for children tinkling in the pool.
It really put a damper in our weekend. That is my only complaint. Otherwise we absolutely loved everything else about Deer Valley! Great continental breakfast, awesome food options at the bar too!
- Douglas (10/5): Valley of Deer - Nice and quiet. Brightly lit parking lot. Comfortable bed
- Wendy (10/5): - Very clean. Friendly staff. Very unique decor. Only stayed one night. I would stay here again
- Kaitlin (10/5): - Everything was great. Thank you :)
- josephine (6/5): - The property was nice and clean. The staff was friendly.
- Amy (8/5): - Kids enjoyed the pool and water slides. Clean room, nice staff.
- Allison (10/5): - Deer Valley Lodge was a great place to stay with our two kids. We loved that there was a bar with food options available, as well as a little shop with things we may need. Our kids enjoyed the pool and water features! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds were beautiful with nice outdoor sitting areas. Great stay!
- Johnathan (6/5): - There wasn't really option for breakfast which is included in the price for the stay. The pool was very dirty and the stair to the water slides where in rough shape. It felt weak in some spots. The hot tub had a nasty
Foam on it.
The hallways looked dirty and needing to be vaccumed and there was dust everywhere. I know that it has the potential to be a awesome hotel it just needs a little TLC.
- Kayleb (10/5): - Decor was fabulous.
- Carol (10/5): - Room was comfortable
Staff was kind
- John (8/5): - We appreciated the room complete with a comfortable bed, nicely functioning AC, easy to use TV, mini-frig with freezer compartment, and bathroom divided into two parts. The complimentary breakfast was a bit thin, but adequate. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful!
- Rachel (10/5): - Staff was friendly and super helpful, very nice and welcoming, also they were understanding when we had to leave early for a family medical emergency. It is located in a great place just off the highway 30 minutes to Madison and 30 minutes to House on the Rock and absolutely love the surrounding landscape, scenery on a golf course plus near great food (Ope Haus is delicious!) Breakfast and drinks were filling, we enjoyed the activities for kids it is perfect for a low key water park like feel with the fantastic slides, ping pong and game room. Spacious and clean rooms. We will stay again!
- Steven (10/5): - Pleasantly surprised, for a non-chain facility. They did have an attached waterpark, which I did not use, but people seem to enjoy it. Breakfast is also pretty good.
- Betty (8/5): - The bed was a bit hard and the bathroom shower was weak and not upgraded. The bathroom seat was loose.
- Kimberly (10/5): - It was great!
- cassie (8/5): - Was great for an overnight with the kids. We were visiting cave of the mounds and house on the rock over two days, this was an easy middle point. Kids had a blast in the pool. Hotel a little outdated, but everything was clean and the price was very reasonable. Gold course looks amazing, but didn't have time this time.
- Amy (8/5): - Overall a good experience! Excellent price for all that is included!
- Hugh (8/5): - Its in a very quiet area, which is fine, but the hotel offers little in terms of bar or food. Decor is a bit dated and faded, but it was clean.
- Goldie (8/5): - Great location
- Alison (10/5): - We had such a fun time at this hotel ! Everyone that worked there was amazing; the rooms are great and the waterpark is so fun!
- Susan (8/5): - First of all, it is a beautiful property and the Saloon was an added bonus...when it was open. The Lodge itself was very charming and inviting.
We were a bit disappointed that there was no Microwave in our room and the walk in shower, altho great, ended up with water all over the floor..kind of wierd, but we out towels on the floor 😀
Probably the worst part was the room up above our room...very, very noisy with the bratty kids, yeh, i said it...
We called the front desk, and it was quiet for maybe an hour, and then the noise continued until 1:00 AM...
I should stare also, that an unruly kid pulked the Fire Alarm, and the Staff was right on it, getting a lot of people together as they calmly checked it out...Kudos to them!!!
- George (8/5): Nice staff, clean room - Nice staff , room was clean and comfortable. Furniture in room was terrible, warned out, time to update guys.
- Michael (10/5): - The property was very nice and clean. The lobby staff at check in and check out were so nice and helpful.
- Westley (10/5): - Pretty decent place. pool was fun to have for a one day stay. Let me check in at 230 after a day at house on the rock was probably nice of them.
- LaKeishya (6/5): - The game room could use some attention. Stayed in a double queen because the website said it “slept 5” however there is no pull out couch like I anticipated. When I asked the front desk attendant how the room “slept 5” she responded with well we assume people with smaller kids could co-sleep. This was a bold statement in my opinion, and is why I have staff the average rating. We also had extra room charges that were not warranted so check receipts. I will say the property this place resides on is stunning! So peaceful and my kids loved the lighting bugs they saw on our evening walk. Long story short if you have a family of 5 or more pay for a suite.
- Jennifer (8/5): - B
- Philip (8/5): - Friendly staffs, nice breakfast, great for family especially for young kids.
- Katie (2/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - Beautiful property located adjacent to the golf course and njce views .Attached water park looked fun but didn't use. Breakfast was good
- Larry (8/5): - This property was accommodating and the check in staff was friendly and quick. Place seems like it needs to be cleaned and updated. Things look abit rundown. Comforters in rooms were worn
- Joseph (10/5): - Very accommodating.
- Stefan (10/5): - Thank you for the great stay. We'll definitely visit again.
- Lesley (10/5): - Great water park for my 5 year olds and husband. Charming log cabin theme throughout hotel lobby and rooms.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Comfortable. Staff was delightful.
- Jill (8/5): - Free breakfast was very good. We used the hot tub and the pool area was clean with plenty of towels. Water slides were not up and running but we didn't want to use them anyway. Very disappointed that the lounge closes at 3 on Sunday. We didn't realize that and arrived after 7 hungry and tired. Saw in the morning that we could've ordered a pizza or purchased an easy mac from the front desk. Woman who checked us in was not friendly, never smiled, and seemed like she didn't want to be there. Didn't feel very welcoming which is probably why we missed the front desk food options. Gentleman working the desk in the morning was much more pleasant, but we were already on our way out. Only stayed about 15 hours, as it was an overnight stop on the way to The Field of Dreams site from Milwaukee.
- Kristian (4/5): - Very nice family stay. Just could use some deep cleaning or updating in areas. Also when we arrived there was housekeeping folding sheets on the tables used for breakfast.
- Kristi (8/5): - Great property. Quiet and convenient, easy access. A little dated, but well kept and comfortable. Will stay here again.
- Matt (10/5): Great place for families or friends! - Our only complaint is that we wished it was longer! Great place, with amazing staff and servive all around!!! Can't wait to come back...
- Jessica (8/5): - Stay weak great people were so nice! The little water park was fun hot tub could have been a tad cleaner and warmer, but overall pretty nice! The area was beautiful, I enjoyed looking out at the golf courses! There was a wedding when we’re were there so it was really busy. Beds were really comfy and the front desk was very patient and very accommodating! We will definitely be back, definitely need to find a few things to do
In the area.. this visit was a calm relaxing hangout!
- Tim (10/5): - It was fine for one night. Another night would have been fine too.
- Brad (10/5): Nice getaway - Great time staying one night to get away for the little waterpark. Perfect for little ones, water was heated and beach style entry was great. Good restaurants are only a free minutes away.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A couples getaway. Very cute. Will actually come back with our kids.
- Jamie (10/5): - 👍
- Kathryn (8/5): - This was perfect for a family get away. Only thing we’d like to see improved is the breakfast and beds.
- Robert (10/5): - The nicest people that operate the hotel.
Thank you.
- John (8/5): Small town comfort with a log cabin twist - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only recommendation is better food options, and later service. It was clean, water park waant extreme, but was just enough to have fun. I would most definitely stay here again.
- Ashley (10/5): - Nice water park for spring break fun.
- Rachael (10/5): - Beautiful rustic rooms on a very beautiful property
- Harry (10/5): - The pool area
- Tina (8/5): Great little Waterpark - Friendly and helpful staff, good affordable family fun. The Waterpark was a big win.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fun weekend hotel - We stayed Thursday and Friday night. Our room was clean and comfortable and the kids had fun. Staff was ok but not overly friendly. Mon-Thurs, nothing is open at the hotel, so you will need to venture off property for food. The water slides were also closed because there wasnt a lifeguard. Everything comes alive Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Definitely a weekend only type hotel.
- Ryan (10/5): - Our kids (6 and 3) had a great time in the waterpark area. Staff were friendly and laid back, our room was clean and quiet, free breakfast and on-site food was convenient, and they even surprised us without a word by upgrading us to a whirlpool suite, which was wonderful! Excellent experience for a quick overnight getaway.
- Leland (10/5): - Excellent: quality for the price.
Good: spotlessly clean, excellent service, friendly staff, updated bathroom fixtures and floor, updated microwave, refrigerator, and TV, water park access included - nice small pool and play area for children, hot tub!
Not so good: older facility with very dated furniture and carpet. All indirect lighting in the room - had to turn on all 8 lights individually and each had a different kind of switch (pull chain, push button, rotate knob), room was still kind of dark. Located in a tiny town, GPS indicated the nearest grocery store was half an hour away, just one restaurant nearby - Ope Haus - good food, bad service.
- Nikki (10/5): - We chose Deer Valley Lodge for a quick family getaway after snow tubing near by and it was perfect! Everyone in our group had a blast! The waterpark was fun for all ages and the hot tub was very spacious.
- KJERSTI (10/5): - Ease of everything
- Samantha (10/5): - Great experience, kid had blast at waterpark and not too expensive.
- Pete (8/5): - Water park was fun after a long day of traveling. Clean, large room. Breakfast was good.
- ARTHUR (10/5): - The room was spacious. We felt very safe.
- Karl (10/5): Hidden Gem - This place is comfortable, clean and has friendly staff, and the pool and hot tub are fantastic.
- Bradley (8/5): - Too noisy. Other guests slamming doors, yelling, etc.
- Barney (10/5): - Staff was friendly, property was well maintained.
- Dan (6/5): - The breakfast was limited. Iron burn in carpet
- Verified traveler (6/5): Eh - Clean room, although a bit small. The "waterpark" was a disappointment, it looked dingy and old. The hot tub was surrounded by dead flies and was barely warm. Overall, employees incredibly friendly a d helpful, but i don't think we'll be back.
- DAVID (8/5): - Staff was great, breakfast was ok. There was alot of bugs in the room. Flies and lady bugs in the window sills and in the room. No cleaning of rooms.
- Gregory (10/5): - Very pleasant
- Joseph (6/5): - Rather tired/run down/dated looking. In-room coffee was very weak/ poor quality. Towels were pretty thin. Room size was generous. Location was great for us. It’s a nice location, but is in need of refreshing.
- Bobbi (8/5): Waterpark?? - This place is great. Very clean, very cute. My only issue was we chose it for the “waterpark”. While there is one, it wasn’t accessible to my daughter due to no life guard…… which great, it was late. However, there are signs all over stating no lifeguard on duty. Does this mean it is never open? If so, it needs to be known. Over-all it was great .
- Kristin (10/5): Perfect Little Getaway - Great stay! Kids loved the water slides and it was exactly what we were looking for as a quick getaway. Perfect place for the cost and loved the golf course next door.
- Por (6/5): - Pool waa nice. Staff was nice. Rooms old.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Definitely 2 Star Quality - Definitely a 2 star mom & pop local hotel. Arrived very late and front desk was friendly. Not updated building nor decor but felt cozy. Liked the wood features all over. The small TV in room is atleast 10+yrs old, not a smart tv to watch your apps, only a few local channels. The carpet is really on its last season. The bed mattress was not comfy at all, the pillows need replacement.
The waterpark was fun for my lil one but no life guards or hotel adults to supervise. A very young teenager at the top of big slides, watching his phone the entire time, only making sure only one person at a time goes down. Not checking for height restrictions but at least a body was up there at the beginning of the slides. One parent walked up the stairs while the other waited at the bottom of slide to make sure our kid got out quickly. Other parents looked more local and let their kids run freely.
The staff was not attentive nor acknowledge us at the morning "breakfast" which was not even a continental. Only waffles and boiled eggs. Juice, yogurt, coffee, lil packets of oatmeal. Big disappointment. Gas Station near by.
Close to Cave on the Mounds.
Quiet the one time adventure, glad we braved the stay to show our kids how blessed we are and to be thankful for our fluffy beds. Sadly we will drive down further next time to stay at a more popular chain hotel. We had high hopes for this "Golf Resort". It is better than camping outside in a tent but we don't do that either ;)
- Alfred (10/5): - It was a very nice experience.
- Dorothea (10/5): - Exceptional property and staff.
- Ken (10/5): - It’s beautiful, awesome staff, comfortable beds, rooms were large, great continental breakfast, rooms are reasonably priced and quiet. Location was just off Hwy. 151 and easy to get to. It’s well kept. It has a water park that looks like a lot of fun. We didn’t use it only because we were too tired. Would definitely recommend and go back to.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Kids Had Fun - Good hotel for the price. Limited but adequate breakfast options. Beds and pillows were somewhat hard. Pool area was fun - kids loved it, however the two large slides are only open from 5-8pm, and the attendant closed them to take a break from 6:30-7pm. Not sure why she needed a break for a 3 hour shift. The front desk attendant was short with her interaction and spent most of her time sitting at one of the breakfast tables. Also there's a small bar with snacks but it was closed. Need more/better staffing. No microwave in the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The Last Hurrah - This was our last vacation of the 2024 summer. It did not disappoint! We will try to get back in the fall. This was simply beautiful!
- Michelle (8/5): - Hotel was clean and we enjoyed the pool area.
- Cheryl (8/5): - Came to this area to see the house on the rock and the American players. It is a very nice facility with a water park and golfing. Clean and it was a good price. Quiet hours enforce so nice for sleeping. Would recommend.
- Terry (6/5): - Ease of access
- Lori (8/5): - Loved everything except the bed. When you sat on the side of the bed you could feel the bed springs.
The value was excellent to include the water park with the hotel cost. My granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed the water park.
- Candace (10/5): - The pool area was wonderful. Wish they served food besides pizza during the week.
- Marie (10/5): - Clean rooms professional helpful front desk
- Tressa (6/5): - I thought the building itself was beautiful. Although i didn't use it, i thought the outside seating looked peaceful. I would suggest never, not ever, use a cot..for anyone unless you don't like them. I'm not sure why the 2 electric slides are only open from 5pm-8pm, especially since you can still use the Waterpark the day of checkout. The only other slide has a weight limit of 150lbs. They rules out most people I would think. The food was average and a bit pricey. Two orders of fries out of 5 were cold, grilled chicken breast was mostly gristle, and very tough. I don't recommend the shakes, they are almost tastless and pricey for what you get. 5 take out meals plus 5 shakes and no bags. We had to ask the front desk for a few to carry it all. We stayed one night. Mostly for little ones in my opinion
- Deborah (8/5): - We really liked the individual nature of the Deer Valley Lodge - the decorating with antlers, the cabin-like furniture, it's a refreshing change from chain hotels. The room was clean, comfortable and the views from the hotel are just lovely. The breakfast is pretty minimal but we were glad to have it. And we liked the country location a lot.
- Kevin (10/5): Thumbs up - Very enjoyable stay! Great pool area, coffee at breakfast was full of grounds, but other than that, good stay!
- Sarah (10/5): - Property is clean and very well maintained
- Carrie (10/5): Wonderful time - Very friendly and professional. Nice vacation for family friends and great for children
- Shirley (10/5): - This was the last night in our 5 night trip and it was such a fun little place to end with! They have a water park, which is the main reason we picked it. Although it was during the week and our little was the only one on site, they were happy to turn on the extra water things for her. We enjoyed the water park and hot tub very much! Staff was very friendly and although the hotel is a little older, you can tell much pride and attention goes into keeping it nice!
- Johnny (6/5): - Had a bad smell, cheap shower soap
- Charlotte (10/5): - Quick check in . Only stayed one night perfect overnight stay
- Anne (10/5): - I chose to stay at Deer Valley Lodge for a couple of days as I am a writer and needed a quiet environment, and this fit the bill perfectly. The Lodge is surrounded by rolling hills of Green ( golf course is adjacent), And the property is Beautifully groomed and has a walking path. Inside, offers the lodge Decor and vibes of the outdoors. It was very clean and well kept the staff was very courteous, kind, and professional and, the continental breakfast was delicious and satisfying. Perfect place!
- Beth (8/5): Clean and dated - The staff were helpful and friendly. Room was clean. Dated decor and the sheets, although clean, very thin and have loss there elastic grip on the bed.
- Steve (10/5): - NA was great and the spa was very nice!
- Dayna (10/5): Quaint little Place - I just needed one night for my family as we were passing by. It was only $100 and i knew it was risky for the price. I was pleasantly surprised. The lobby area was warm and inviting. The decorations and theme was cute. The front sitting area tastefully put together. The rooms were decorated very cute as well. For the price, it was simple yet homey. Pretty beds and very nice wood furnature. Bathroom and room were meticulously clean and well maintained. Ample plug ins and charging areas. Nice big desk and dresser. Fridge and microwave in room. There is a pool and nice nice ànd warm hot tub. Again, for one hundred dollars, i was surprised. The pool was actually large with an area for basketball hoops , 3 actually. 2 nice waterslides for the kids. 1 slide off pool too. There's a small area for kids with a large water fall type sprinkler. The continental breakfast was nice. Juices, coffee, cereal, waffles, sausages, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, yogurt. Again, for $100 very nice and really everything you need. Everything was so very clean and organized. There was a little diner but we didn't check that out. A cute hotel, smaller, and very much, exceeds, $100. Though we don't make it up to Wisconsin Dell's often, i would definitely stay here again. Again, very clean, simple, and friendly staff. Truly, there is nothing that anyone could complain about. It's well kept and someone should be proud to have this delightful gem.
- Michael (6/5): - I think this place could be so much better than it was. It wasn’t terrible at all, just so many more things could be better. The pillows were the flattest things on earth, very uncomfortable. Hot tub was not hot, breakfast could be better. The lady serving at the bar was moody. The ladies at the desk were helpful and great! Not a bad place, just thought the place could be better.
- Kevin (10/5): - Staff was great
- Katherine (8/5): Great water park for kids. - My family and I decided to stay here because of the water park, it’s excellent it’s geared towards younger kids but still has an average sized pool and hot tub for the older kids/adults. The only thing we felt could have had some improvement is the cleanliness of the rooms. We stayed in 2 rooms, and upon arriving the one room had a hair tie on the floor (we first thought whatever, could have fallen out of a house keepers pocket maybe?) but then our second room we found a can of Copenhagen pouches on the floor by one of the beds. After finding that it made us feel a bit uneasy wondering how clean our room truly was. We also called down for extra pillows, and were told they didn’t have a single one extra available. Regardless of those few things, we definitely plan to return if the opportunity presents itself.
Oh we were also very surprised to find out neither of the rooms had microwaves in them, we were traveling with a couple week old baby and heating up a bottle made it difficult to do so without having a microwave handy.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Other reviews stated that the property was outdated and the staff wasnt friendly. That wasnt our experience at all. We had a new flat screen tv in our room and the room was super clean. We even got to have the whole water park to ourselves for 2 hours! The only bad thing was the mattress was kinda hard and the pillows real flat. Other than that it was great!
