• Huicong (8/5): Happy. - Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely YHA vibes. Beautiful grounds. Nice walk along the river. Shower room has no hook. Shower head pointing to the wall which made taking a shower slightly awkward. Doors were quite loud.

Good location, good value for money Could have done with a shelf/ hooks in the showers or even just a shower curtain to stop water spraying all over, it was impossible to keep anything dry. I understand small bathrooms are cheap but not having the capabilities to get changed in the shower was a little disappointing, didnt really want to walk through the shared hallway in a towel to then either change infront of the people i came with or to the small toilet cubicle

• Adam (10/5): Great staff, great location, great stay - Worried the beds would be wobbly and noisy but nice and sturdy, comfortable beds. No noise apart from friends snoring in our room. Also the staff seemed to be helping a homeless guy deal with his washing and getting a hot drink and some food which was nice to see. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Maybe continental breakfast could be a little better but the cooked breakfast was great.

• Melanie (8/5): We loved it, it suited us great and helped me feel I was able to enjoy my holiday as much as the kids , which is rare as - Great bar and staff, the communal area was great and kids loved the garden . The communal toilets were not the cleanest, and the kitchen had great potential but needs some tlc with one of the three cooking countertops not working. The pillows and mattresses were quite uncomfortable but next time we will bring our own pillows .

Valuable👌 - Free parking , location ( could walk to the center for around 28 minutes or get a bus ) , sheets and mattress are clean and comfortable. Kitchen facilities are ok. Polite and friendly staff . Nice sitting areas. There was a very strange woman in my room who was behaving very strangely. I first saw her in the kitchen, moving things around in the refrigerator very nervously. When I asked her about the microwave, she didn't answer me, and even though I called her three times, she still ignored me. At night, when I went to bed, I saw this woman there. She was still constantly looking for something in the closet and making a lot of noise. Then she would go out and come back again. I tried to put on my headphones and play music so that I wouldn't hear these noises. I fell asleep four times. I woke up again at 11:30 at night with a lot of noise in the closet next to my bed. I complained to her. She ignored me and didn't answer. I gently tapped her on the shoulder and said, "It's 11:30 at night. I've been driving all day and I want to rest." But she still didn't even look at me. She was like a madwoman and I was worried all night that she would come and attack me. It seemed like she had gone out naked at 2:00 in the morning. The woman next to my bed had seen her. In the morning, we We complained to the reception, but it seems like this lady has been there for a long time and has been behaving like this, and unfortunately the hotel management has not kicked her out. The presence of such abnormal people deprives other travelers of their comfort and is completely intolerable.

My stay was terrible

• Ian (10/5): - The Lounge was stylish and comfortable, comparable with an hotel. Good breakfast too. Almost total lack of surfaces to put things on or anywhere to sit in the room apart from the bunks. No shelves, tables or chairs.

The staff were nice. The place was clean. The pool table entertained the whole family. Nice outdoor area. There was no WiFi in the room. The bulb in the porch was not working despite being reported. There didn’t seem to be lounging area if you’re not using the restaurant/bar.

• A (8/5): Great place for families - Great location and price. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, Self catering facilities were great, the place was clean and beds were comfy.
• Maryna (7/5): - Good value for money. Stayed two nights with children. Clean and basic accommodation. Our room was located at the far end of the building on the second floor, and the only exit is through reception with key card access. With children, this felt a bit inconvenient. When we asked about moving to a room closer to the entrance, we were told the hostel was fully booked, and relocation would require an additional £30.

• Lesley (6/5): Beautiful building, poor shower facility - Fantastic location and the staff were very welcoming. This is a historic building, the Rowntree family home. Stunning location close to the towpath walk of less than a mile into town. The staff had no knowledge of the history of the place which was a little disappointing. The food looked good although we didn't try it. Booking in and checking out was easy and very pleasant. There were 2 small toilets and 2 small showers between 4 dorms, minimum of 16 guests. There were no hooks in the toilet, to place your bag on. The showers consisted of the shower tray and that's it, no hooks, nowhere to put a towel or clean clothes except on the floor. Not surprisingly they got wet as there is also no shower curtain. Nowhere to put shampoo etc either, literally nothing but a shower. In my dorm there were 4 beds and 4 hooks. 1 small cupboard with 2 spaces, 1 could be locked and the other was open, both areas had been claimed when I arrived, all my stuff had to be left on the floor. There are no privacy curtains, which i guess is for health and safety but I have stayed in multiple hostels with curtains worldwide, it makes a huge difference when someone wants to stay up until 1am doom scrolling. And of course, the obligatory fire alarm going off at 4.30am is always fun ?

• Katie (7/5): Great location and parking - Great location, easy access into city center and great parking. Beds were VERY hard and was strange that the beds were up the stairs. Stairs were very narrow and not very accessible in the dark.No cups or glasses to have a drink from.

• Bill (6/5): Great VFM. - Great location and value for money. It’s a hostel and one of the better ones. It was school week so the hostel dorms were full. Not a pleasant experience with little sleep.

• Samantha (10/5): We loved it! - The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was great, and the room was clean and comfortable. The walk to town along the river is absolutely gorgeous and feels very safe. Altogether a great experience. The shared shower smelled a bit mildewy but I have a very sensitive nose and my daughter disagreed with me about the smell. Also, we couldn't access the WiFi in our room, but the staff said this is a known issue and they're working with the internet provider to resolve it. WiFi in common areas was fine.
