Guest Reviews
- David (10/5): Very convenient to downtown without the noise - Very convenient to downtown without the noise. Quiet neighbourhood that is 15 mins walk to centre of town.
- Adrienne (10/5): Very friendly and welcoming! - The place was comfortable and homey and had everything we needed. Really appreciated the advice we got on places to visit nearby. Overall a very pleasant experience!
- Keith (10/5): Thank you. - Beautiful little guesthouse, very homely and welcoming atmosphere, very friendly and helpful owner. Nice quiet area, comfortable bed, very relaxing. 10 minute walk to downtown Victoria. Highly recommend for a weekend stay.
Gerne wieder.
- Susan (10/5): Lovely vintage home 4 long blocks from town. - Elegant continental breakfast.
The room we rented included a private bath a few steps away. Unfortunately, other guests, whose English was inadequate to understand that, occupied our bath. This was not the fault of the owner.
- farley (10/5): Charm and gracious hospitality - Beautifully decorated and maintained B&B. Kind, generous, and welcoming hosts.
- Lauren (8/5): Private room too far from downtown - This b&b is cute and the room I had was well stocked with water, a coffee machine, soaps (no body wash) and robes. The continental breakfast was delicious and the host was very sweet.
My only issue with the place was that the extra blankets in the closet smelled kinda moldy, the fridge also smelled moldy and wasn't cold enough and that the location is further than expected from downtown Victoria.
Other reviews say 10-15 minutes to downtown and I would say more like a 20 minute walk or a bus ride - so just be prepared. The worst part is not the walk though, but where you have to walk past to get there. A homeless shelter meaning lots of homeless people along the whole street. As a solo traveler, it made me feel uncomfortable having to walk to far with my luggage.
Other than that, the accommodations were great with fast wifi, Netflix and a comfortable couch and bed.
- Shelley (8/5): Worth it for a short get away; not for long stay - I stayed one night - just passing through.
Breakfast was fresh fruit, fresh baked goods, cereal, yogurt. There were vegetarian and gluten free options.
- Brian (10/5): Gaslight Inn - Could be renamed Glasslight Inn! - Great and varied continental breakfast with fresh baking as part of the offering. Quiet evenings make for a wonderful sleep.
- Mitchell (8/5): Nice B n B close to town - Clean and comfortable accommodation with nice breakfast. Little walk into town but we found walking one of the easiest ways to get around. Free parking off the street which was handy
- Brad (8/5): Close to downtown with an at home feeling - It was my first time in a bed and breakfast, so I wasn't sure what to expect. My check in was late but the owner was very good at making the arrangements for me to check in smoothly even thought she wasn't able to be there. The particular room I was in shared a bathroom with another room which I didn't expect, but worked out fine. The room was clean, comfortable and the older house was quite nice to be in. The breakfast was great - a help yourself kind of buffet, with a good fresh variety of things. Linda - the owner was very personable, kind, and willing to accommodate. I had to leave very early and she left a take home bag of muffins, fruit and water for the trip which was unexpected but great.
- Avi (10/5): Beautiful Home, Charming Host - Beautifully restored Craftsman home; owner is wonderfully pleasant, accommodating and helpful, and takes great pride in making her house a real home. Rooms are large and very comfortable, with all needed amenities. One room shares bathroom, but that's fine with me -- something to know if it's not, for you. Good breakfasts, too!
- Mary (10/5): Amazing hospitality! - The room was cozy and clean, breakfast was fabulous, the host could not have been more friendly and accommodating and it is in a great location about a 20 min. walk to the centre. I highly recommend this B&B.
- Andrew (8/5): Great and Friendly B&B - 10 minute walk to a couple of great restaurants (Ca Va and Stables). 15 minute walk to downtown. Friendly owner and nice firm bed. Can say enough how few places have a nice firm bed. Lots of period architecture and stained glass. Great bathrooms with good water pressure although you do have to cross the hall to get to them. 2 rooms share one but we had the room with the private bathroom. The only downside is you can hear the traffic on Pandora. If you are a light sleeper not the place for you, otherwise we had a great stay and will definitely stay there again when in Victoria.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Smells old. Like a church. - Couldn't stand the smell, had to leave. Host wasn't friendly. Don't book here
- Jeffrey (6/5): Weekend with Victoria - Only stayed one night. For the price, not bad overall.
Positives:
1) Beautiful old-style (dare I say Victorian?) home. Linda is an artist and it shows through her decor.
2) Solid breakfast, with home-made cinnamon buns.
3) Friendly host, welcoming.
4) Very well-appointed room.
5) Quite close to downtown.
Negatives:
1) shared bathroom, so you had to bring the bath towels from your room, but there was a bath towel already on the towel rack so made for an awkward situation (it sounded like the other room that was sharing with us was on a longer-term rental)
2) no toiletries of any kind, not even a bar of soap. Ended up using the liquid hand wash pump soap to wash ourselves in the shower.
3) parking is very tight. No on-street parking in front of the house, and really had to squeeze into driveway
4) Noisy/busy street in front of house. Could hear traffic noise at night, and hard to back car out.
5) Host was a bit unprofessional at times, negatively commenting on another guest behind their backs to us. Made us wonder if the same was happening to us behind our backs.
- Ann (10/5): - Owner was very accommodating and breakfast was yummy. The home was darling and cozy. Very nicely decorated and restored. The bed was firmer than we prefer, but bedding was great.
- Linda (10/5): A Lovely Inn - What an enjoyable stay we had at the Gaslight Inn! This old house has been transformed into a lovely inn. There was incredible artwork throughout the inn, just a pleasing place to stay. The room was comfortable, quiet, and the excellent breakfast nicely presented by the friendly host, Linda. We chose the Inn because of its convenient location, but found a place we will surely return to.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I am happy with my everything in the Gaslight Inn Victoria.
- Janice (10/5): Lovely old house full of interesting features, art - Very nice, quiet, and an excellent continental breakfast; friendly hostess.
