Guest Reviews
- James (2/5): - The lady at the register was almost impossible to understand. The room is old. The bedding was terrible. The pillows were flat.
- Alejandro (6/5): Cheap price and cheap stay - Not the best stay but rooms were clean, the hotel overall stinks of cigarettes and the bed and pillows were not comfortable at all. Don't bother asking for extra pillows, they don't have any.
- Michael (2/5): Stinky motel!!! - It was like going back to the 80's. The check-in process was primitive! We had to use the same key card that had been used for decades. The place is non-smoking, yet it smelled worse than a speak-easy back in the 1920's. The bed was hard with only 2, flat, pillows. Also, the sheet had a poop stain on it. If it wasn't for the fact that we were staying there because of a wedding, we would've left. So, don't save the$35-$40 extra. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty and not pleasant - Room was dirty, sheets were stained. Photo attached is what came out of hot tub jets.
Will not be returning.
- Stephen (6/5): - No hot water 2 out of 3 nights!
- jerome (4/5): - they should charge $50 a night considering what other hotels offer at the same price. I arrived early and wanted to leave my backpack there while I ran errands. They had no space behind desk, like most hotels. Lobby was no lobby at all. No coffee anywhere. No place to sit. Let me have a room 2 hrs early like most hotels will. No hot water. I called the desk, they said is being worked on. No clock. Sticky carpet. Dead bug carcass in corner by door. 2 hrs later I call again, same woman lies and tells me she told me no hot water till morning and I get an argument. The next day 2 hrs before checkout, their maintman knocks and says water will soon be off completely. I check my shower and it's already off. It just isn't worth the price.
- Rachael (4/5): - The smell of smoke all the building.
- Christina (8/5): It was good until they tried stealing all my stuff - It was good for the price. The housekeeper was amazing, very friendly & helpful. I stayed 4 days & 3 nights. Zero problems until the last day. Checkout is 11am they deactivated my room card at 9am. I was in the middle of packing my things up most were still in the room. I had to take more than one trip. The lady at the desk was rude & a liar. She wouldn’t let the housekeeper open it for me until I talked to her. I was already short on time. I had somewhere I needed to be. She claimed I must have deactivated it myself. Again zero problems with my card until then. She refused to reactivate it. Don’t let her wait on people again she’s going to end up making the wrong person mad.
- Michael (10/5): - Very nice place
- Bobby (10/5): Good - It was a good stay.
- Bobby (10/5): Good - Restful
- Asma (10/5): - Excellent service they provide me sheets and towels within 5 min very helpful staff I will come again with my family it’s good for family and kids thank
- Janet (4/5): - The shower wasnt working properly. The screen on window is flopping. No coffee in room
- edwin (2/5): - Not a good place to stay
Next door is a much better option
The bed was horrible
- Darrell (10/5): - The room had some maintenance issues. The toilet fush handle was messed uo, the bathroom door latch didnt work and shower head needs replaced.
- Eric (2/5): - Management is completely incompetent, they forced us to pay the full room rate plus a deposit for the room and a service animal, when I’ve already booked and paid through Expedia. They say they do not allow pets yet they have a sign posted that they charge $25 for pets. They will not allow us to check in under the Expedia itinerary, and if we leave, they are going to charge it as a no-show. We will never stay at this place again, and they should be ashamed of themselves for trying to deny a service animal that is protected under American disability act.
- Sharon (2/5): - There were empty food bags and half full water bottles not picked up before we got the room. They are charging $4 per day per room for paying by credit card, which is not disclosed prior to arriving. They refused to print a receipt showing the charges. We hung the do not disturb hangers on the door and they came in anyways.
Pay a few extra dollars at another place for a clean room where they are respectful of your space.
- Nicholette (2/5): - There was a hole in our ceiling
- Isela (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE! - This place should not be as advertised AT ALL….not even the homeless would want to stay there. It was disgusting, dirty and how they handled complaint was horrible. I want to dispute ALL charges and not be charged for my stay.
I’ve attached pictures and how do they expect people to sleep on these pillows….DISGUSTING!
- Gloria (2/5): - This place was nothing like the photos. Looked very unclean. Did not stay. They refused to do a refund
- Heidi (6/5): Old, doesn't need to be old. - Walked into older hotel, which is fine. But person behind counter wasn't cleanest looking, which again, Ok. But then we were surprised that 4$ fee charged for using credit card. He had to cal ? To make sure we were treated right. Ok. Hes new? But then, never saw anyone behind front desk throughout times during the day. Didnt know how to ask for new towel, or any other request. Please clean the fans in both air condition and bathrooms.
- Tiffany (8/5): - Needed a safe quiet power nap...while contract working. Made a good choice at the last minute. Will revisit. Ms. B.
- Antonio (6/5): - the room was cool; furniture was outdated. I didn’t like that you had to call for customer service
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The ceiling had a leak with a big moldy area. We left after one night as it was very late when we arrived. They were cordial when we received refund.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Just say no - The ceiling had a leak with a big moldy area. We left after one night as it was very late when we arrived. They were cordial when we received refu.
- Stacy (8/5): - Quiet
- Tarrah (2/5): - The room that I was placed in had a ceiling leaking that had mold growing over the bed. I returned to the office to request my money back. I was told that she could not give refunds and I would have to wait until the morning. I have repeatedly called and have been constantly told that the manager was not in. I have left several messages and have not received a return call. The rooms are horrible and the customer service is even worse. Please do not stay at this place!
- Stacy (8/5): - Quiet and cheap
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cozy and Clean - This was very clean. We really didn’t hardly see any of the staff during our stay. There were 3 of us staying. There were only 2 bath towels 1 hand towel & 1 wash cloth for a 2 night stay. Of coarse u could ask for more, but usually they r setup already. Vending machine was almost empty. We would stay again.
- Nestor (10/5): - N/A
- Nestor (10/5): - N/A
- Ashwini (2/5): - Very poor condition
- Stephen J (2/5): Sleeping In Your Car is a Better Option - If you like dirty, dated and dismal this is the place for you. From check in to check out this hotel was a real shop of horrors. Unless these are your type of things: Plumbing issues, dirty towels, antiquated and dirty room, no USB ports and no coffee anywhere I would steer clear of this place
- Jerry (8/5): Nice - Nice Hotel, clean and quiet.
- Nancy (4/5): - Safety latch on door to room broken/unusable; elevator on opposite end of building rather than in central area; trash cans in room with "Holiday Inn Express" logo; check-in not in lobby; extremely noisy.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty - It was dirty, towels, bed sheets, everything was dirty and it smelled like smoke even though it said non smoking
- william (8/5): - Although I knew that there was no breakfast buffet available, I was disappointed that there was no coffee on hand either in the lobby or in room.
- William (4/5): - Property was in good easy to find location, close to everything but no towels had to call for towels (they need to get more towels and change out the towels) they also do not service rooms unless you call. We stayed 4 nights and even had to call to refill toilet paper! They also do not service bathroom in hallway. The guy who checked us in was really nice the cleaning lady was not
- Maria (6/5): - Missing clothes hangers and desk chair. Not enough towels. Feeling that manager questioned our requests.
- Marjorie (2/5): - We did not like the smell of smoke in the halls, room was dusty, musty, crusty, and filthy with old mattress sheets and comforter, bath towels stained and moldy, carpet was dusty not vacuumed, there was a slight smell of urine and smoke in a non smoking room. This place should have been cheaper for quality of the room and service. We will never stay here again if in the area.
- Marianne (4/5): Run from this one - Disappointed heat didn't work, tv reception was in and out, gave hand towels for bathing, shower was like using the sink and last but not least cleaning staff knocked four times regarding check out starting at 10 am
- Dessie (4/5): Horrible rooms NOT CLEAN!!! - First, I purchased to rooms. The room I stayed in the pictures shows it all!!! If you can keep up maintenance, laundry and cleaners close the hotel until you can do better!!! The bathroom was terrible horrible toilet seat old, toilet was not clean booboo strains etc, hair on tub. The linen had burn marks from smoking, mattress pad was torn up, blanket was torn, etc. fridge was not clean! The smell of the room!! This was the worst ever!! Don’t do it honestly!
- Mark A. (4/5): Terrible place - horrible. had to request bath towels and soaps after room service had finished. shower curtain all moldy along bottom of curtain. had to request an clean curtain.
never will stay there again.
- karen (2/5): - Disgusting hotel. I was afraid to sleep there. So filthy all over. Save your money!
- Ted (8/5): - The cost was very reasonable , We just wanted a place to stay overnight . We were pleased with the service. We were not looking for expensive amenities. The staff was very helpful.
- Gary (2/5): - This was a nonsmoking property, however, the first thing I smelled walking down the hall was very strong marijuana smoke and in the room, there were cigarette burns on the bed covers and stains on the sheets. I immediately requested a refund and left the premises.
- John (4/5): - Hotel in bad condition. Dirty. Room 2 towel maximum. No washing soap. 4 ketchup type packets to wash your hair. No shower soaps or hand soap!!! What!!! In this day and age what is up!!! No coffee. No coffee machine even in hallway or pop . Snack machine had 2 items in the whole machine. If we weren’t dead tired never would have stayed!!! Yuck!! Refund appreciated
- SERGIO (2/5): - Never went!! Need my money back
- Jeiser (10/5): - Nice place to relax
- gerald (2/5): - It smelled like a ashtray, hallways smelled like SMOKE, no soap for a shower, skimmpy on the towels
- Verified traveler (4/5): Run, don't walk away. - Zero coffee in the building. Closest pot is across FOUR lanes of flying cars and trucks at the Amoco. We ended up buying a $10 Mr. Coffee at Walmart rather than risk our lives. They blame Covid, which I explained was two and a half years ago. Didn't matter. One wash cloth in the room and it looked like someone washed their car with it. Filthy behind the TV. Filthy bathroom floor. Towels folded like the last guest used and folded them. Book anything else.
- Dejaughn (2/5): - not good at all -2 stars it was a horrible experience
- charlie (10/5): - after reading all the bad reviews i was surprised how clean the rooms were, the only thing i think they should change the shower curtain, place was quiet, but i would stay here next time i'm in the area and was expensive.
- Carolyn (6/5): - Hi, I think the rooms could be a bit cleaner. In addition, the towels had stains on them.
- Marc (6/5): - My non-smoking room had a blanket with 6 or so cigarette burns.
- Samantha (2/5): Not worth the 100 it cost. - My friend staying with me works in the hospitality industry. She can overlook a lot of things that others would make complaints. But the moldy shower curtain, the broken lamp, it seemed as if when the card holder with a gay just deal with it pride shirt came in to pay the desk attendant changed the room to this. I'm curious to what the other room she assigned us looks like and if the fact of two women, one wearing a pride shirt is the reason our room was changed.
- Judy (6/5): - Sheets were very worn/stained. Holes and bed was made very poorly, bottom sheet was so low that the shredded mattress cover was exposed. Blanket under bedspread had many cigarette burn holes, even though we had a non smoking room. Carpet had stains and didn’t appear to have much effort to clean it?
- Vern (8/5): - What i did not like about the hotel was they were only giving one key out when there are two people in the room.
- David (4/5): - The place would have been nice 10 years ago, but the owners are not maintaining it properly. The bed covering was torn, looked dirty. The room had broken lights and holes in the wall. The shower curtain was moldy and dirty. The place smell of cigarettes and needed to be aired out. We have stayed in many hotels through the years. This place was one of the worse we have stayed in. We won't be back.
- Rosemarie (4/5): - Checking in was awful. Had to find someone first then they wanted more information than I ever had to give anywhere else.... The room was ok but needed the floor to be vacuumed.
- George (6/5): - Just average; no frills. Cold, uninviting check-in, minimal employee engagement.
- Howard O (6/5): - All the rooms are smoking rooms. If you smoke this motel is fine. If you don't smoke I can't recommend.
- Garry (2/5): Awful Place - Do not stay here or at least look at the room before paying.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This hotel was in a decent area very close to where we were going so that’s why I chose it. For the price it was pretty much what you’d expect. The shower looked dirty and the toilet seat didn’t sit right. The tv remote didn’t change channels and the refrigerator froze every thing we put in it. Microwave had no plate. Don’t expect this to be a great stay. Fine if you only need it for sleeping.
- Candy (8/5): - It served our needs for the night
- William (10/5): Best Deal in Town! - I stayed 2 nights, the family staff was courteous and efficient. The room was clean and spacious. And it was the only place in Schererville under $100 a night. You can walk down the street to the Comfort Inn for their continental breakfast or there is a White Castle on the corner. The maid was super nice too. A little smell of smoke(NOT IN THE ROOM AT ALL), but hey, you are in the Midwest, what do you expect?
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They got bugs itched the whole time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unhappy. - Only the main walk are of room was vacuumed. Under thr table and side of bed havent been vacuumed in a long time. Bathroom had gum on thr floor under the sink. The shower came out ina stream and not very powerful. The whole hotel spelled like cigarette smoke. The pillows were stained yellow.
- Robert (8/5): Hotel Review - I was surprised the hotel was pretty nice. Enjoyed the room at a good price and very clean.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Rude
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was clean, not fancy. If your just there for sleeping it's good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - had plenty of parking
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was great, except no coffee maker and microwaves did not work
- Nora (10/5): Cute Comfy Hotel - Super clean, excellent Bed, Nice small hotel!
- Yonnie (4/5): Nasty - Very dirty
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing stay - The room wasn't cleaned very well. The toilet seat was broken, shower head was not very functional (needed a new shower head), and I could hear everything from neighboring room and heavy traffic outside.
I asked for extra towels, and was told that they were out. Also, I was told that there would be nobody on site after midnight.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Due to a long list of things wrong, I'm just going to do a Con's list for simplicity sake. Please note, I AM aware that COVID may slightly have something to do with the disorder to how this hotel operated.
Cons:
Charged our card before we even arrived to check in.
No Front Desk, just a small window in the wall.
No staff present.
Finally got someone and they acted surprised to see us.
Our Non-Smoking room smelled heavily of cigarettes.
Carpets were dirty with stains, hair, and something sticky.
The door has a pretty decent gap in it, on the side of the latch. It was closed, but you could still see light from the hall coming through the gap.
Odd smell in the bathroom that turned out to be a yellow/brownish puddle behind the toilet.
Shower rod was jimmy-rigged to the wall.
Paint job in the Bathroom was rough.
MOLD on the shower curtain.
Brown spots on the towels. It looked like poo.
NO FITTED SHEET on the bed. They used a top sheet and just laid it over the mattress.
Cigarette burns on the blanket.
Massive rip up the side of the bedspread.
TV didn't work well.
The mismatched lamps were kind of comical.
Furniture was pretty outdated.
Flaking Paint off walls and ceilings.
Telephone was GROSS.
No batteries in the smoke detector.
The back of the remote was falling off, and the buttons on the remote had cigarette residue and gunk caked on.
Millipede looking thing in the VENDING MACHINE.
No coffee or water machine anywhere.
Pros:
Air/Heat unit was fast & strong
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointed.. - For the price, I would have expected a breakfast. Not worth it. Nobody at front desk !
- Mariza (4/5): Will not be staying here ever again - Not very friendly staff/no hospitality. Smelled of cigarette. Lacked proper housekeeping. Asked for extra towels, got two but housekeeper took all our other towels and did not replenish them. We asked them NOT to touch our room until our check out date and they did it anyway and didn’t replace towels or trash can liners. Not very good shower head.
- Sharon (2/5): Ever again - I had fo clean my own room down nore when i got there. The toliet barely worked. They didnt want to give us extra towels for our faces. Instead of sending someone up with the items we requested they wanted us to come get them. My key didnt work the last day there. Hotel staff was rude as if they didnt even want to be there.
- Joi (2/5): Slept in my car - Room is super stuffy and uncomfortable. There’s two refrigerators In the room. Remote didn’t work and everything you seemed to have to buy on tv. Covers wear hideous. The air conditioner kept cutting off the wrong was hot.
- Gregory (4/5): Not happy. - Black mold in the shower, rod and curtain. Couldn’t see out the windows, too dirty. Snack machine empty. Ice machine on the second floor. WiFi password posted on the second floor only and not on the first floor. They only gave us one key card. Medicine pill was found n the bed when we pulled the covers back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good price for the amenities and decent room. Good they offer smoking rooms without going outside when it's cold
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We checked it at 3:15 and room hadn't been cleaned and then they finially cleaned while we went to a wedding. When we came back the TV wouldn't work for us. I have the guy came twice and couldnt fix it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is close to where we go. But there is never a staff at the window when we need something.
- mike (4/5): Too close to highway - It was clean and the bed comfortable. Located too close to highway and the noise made it difficult for sleeping. The air conditioning was inadequate for an 80 deg day. Les than expected for price. To pay more than $50 is too much.
- Jasmine (10/5): We enjoyed our stat - It was very comfortable and we had a really nice room
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I DID NOT LIKE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE! IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS THAT THE OWNERS DO NOT CARE ABOUT HAVING TO SPEND MONEY ON FIXES THAT NEED SERIOUS FIXING. THE CHECK IN TOOK 10 MINUTES, BECAUSE THE LADY DID NOT KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING AND SHE TEIED TO WRITE DOWN MY DEBIT CARD DOWN ON A PIECE OF PAPER AND WHEN I ASKED WHY, BECAUSE "THEIR COMPUTER WAS DOWN" I WAS SO DISGUSTED WITH MY ROOM, EVERYTHING LOOKED DIRTY, THE PILLOWS LOOKED FILTHY. I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN!
- Elizabeth (2/5): Canceled - Did not stay at this hotel. It was canceled by the Hotel. They said, there had been a water link and no one was staying there until it was cleaned up.
