- Thomas (10/5): Fantastic! - Everything. The boat tour was amazing. The food was good. Great atmosphere. The hotel is historic and is not new, but that’s part of the charm. The elevator was down, so we had to haul our luggage.
- Helmut (5/5): Gleichgultiges Managenent kann viel verderben - Tolle Lage und Ambiente generell interessant. Bewundernswertes Natuschutzgebiet mit der Möglichkeit fur Wanderungen und fur eine Bootsfahrt. Gute Bedienung beim Frühstück im herrlichen Saal des Restaurants. Fahrt man in ein Natuschutzgebiet mochte man nicht vor seinem Zimmer und im Gang eine Baustelle sehen. Leider schaute unser Zimmer genau darauf mit Lärm beginnend in der Fruh. Wir waren schockiert und haben das dem Personal kommuniziett. Solche Zimmer dürfen nicht vermietet werden. Reaktion: Null! Außerdem könnte das Lodge auch hin und wieder die Fenster putzen. Durchwegs alle die ich sah waren katastrophal verdeckt.
- Kimberly (8/5): Wonderful weather and got to see manatees - Updated chairs in the restaurant, great food as usual. Friendly staff, and the gift shop. Good river boat tour. Front desk manager would not let us stay in the room for 15 minutes after check out. The cleaner didn’t understand that as she wasn’t even close to getting to our room yet. A little disappointed in that since we’ve been coming here for over 50 years.

- dogislandnancy (10/5): A great place to relax - Love this lodge - It really is “Old Florida”. The lodge is beautiful and historic. The Spring and trails are so pristine - not commercial like so many Florida attractions. The staff is friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Laura at the desk who straightened out a mix up. The food is good and reasonable. What’s not to like?
- nicolebB4393KO (10/5): The kids can’t wait to come back! - A hidden gem for sure! The breakfast was great, the view amazing! The wildlife, especially the manatee were just chilling in plain view. The staff were friendly and the parlor was really cool too. Walking the lodge was fascinating. We were definitely pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our stay here! Boat tour is a must and if you are able to walk a mile, make sure you go visit the Cherokee Sink Trail! We were bummed we did not do it sooner and we did not bring swimming gear! Beautiful!!

- F6271OJalyssab (10/5): Excellent Spring Break Visit - Loved visiting Wakulla Springs with our family (myself, husband, and three boys 11, 9, and 7). The Lodge was a very cool piece of history to take in. We took the boat tour and had a wonderful time! Our boat Captain was so knowledgeable and friendly, he really made the experience amazing. We saw alligators, jumping fish, so many birds, manatees, a snake, and more! The park was also so nice to walk around and have a picnic at the tables near the lodge. If we had more time we would've loved to swim in the designated area and jump off the tower as it looked like so much fun. Would visit here again!

He drove the boat but offered little commentary on the history, birds and all that regular employees share. It was a waste. Not sure I will do it again. The volunteers obviously need a script or tip sheet.

Loved walking around the property and taking the boat tour! Nothing - all was fabulous!

- Roving16965671854 (10/5): The river cruise was the highlight of our vacation. - I didn't stay at the lodge, but I booked a river cruise for my family. We are visiting Florida for a week from North Carolina. We have checked out a few different nature spots, but the river cruise has by far been the highlight of our trip. Our guide was phenomenal. (McMullen or McCullen?) He gave us the history of the park, so much info about the animals we were seeing, but the best part was when he stopped the boat, cut the motor off, and just let us sit in the silence. I can't even put words to it, but I was very moved by the experience. Where I live in the NC mountains, we have rivers and woods, but this was something else entirely. The animals, the clear water, just the sheer beauty of it. And you can't get that from the docks. The price is super affordable, too. Thank you so much to the state park for making an experience like this affordable. We will never forget it.

- H9069DVbettym (10/5): Boat cruise is always a pleasure - We vacation at one of the Franklin County beaches at least twice a year. We always take new guests on the boat cruise and love to go with family. The clear water, turtles, varieties of birds, fish, and alligators are interesting and such a pleasure to see in this area protected from other boat traffic. The boat captains share interesting facts, and the entire experience borders on magical.
- franz-peru (8/5): Great place for a nature getaway!!! - My wife and I took the boat tour. Even though it was only 40 minutes, we managed to see Manatees, alligators, lots of birds, deer, turtles, and even fish!!! The waters are crystal clear, the captain made the tour entertaining and informative. The only thing we didn't like was that every time we saw an animal, the boat kept moving. It would be good if, upon seeing any wild species, the v3zr would wake up or at least try to slow down.

- H5079GAel (6/5): Go to the lodge’s “Soda Fountain,” skip the dining room. - Beware that the dining room is understaffed and extremely slow. After nearly an hour had passed beyond our reservation time for lunch and no one was able to take our order, we left and went to the soda fountain inside the Lodge instead. They made great sandwiches fast, with beverages, ice cream, and shakes available, and friendly service. They have two small tables and counter stools. Terrific.

So, I called to see if we could get later tickets, only walk up’s were available…. So, I asked if they could give us 2 walk ups at a later time and could use our 2 as walk ups at our scheduled time…. Would not even consider it! I understand that not knowing time zones is on us, but when there are available tickets and they won’t even consider letting us swap times is unacceptable. They should also have it on their website about the time zones so others aren’t caught off guard….

Quanesha at check-in was incredibly kind and went above and beyond by personally delivering a fridge to our rooms. Wanda was also wonderful, sharing helpful information about the boat cruises and the hotel’s history. The meeting space and food service were excellent, with beautiful views of the springs. The entire staff was phenomenal—Tanner, Chloe, Cassady, and especially Zane, whose energy and spirit were unforgettable. The food was great and it’s clear the new chef is doing an outstanding job. Housekeeping kept everything spotless and always greeted us with a smile—special thanks to Jessica, Sofia, Cheryl, Amanda, and Caprice. The outdoor experiences were a highlight: manatees from the deck each morning, scenic trail hikes, and a fantastic Jungle Cruise with alligators and beautiful birds. Truly a memorable stay!

- lindamC9119RF (10/5): Magical Time Travel - A magical place. The historic hotel is beautiful, with antique furnishings and amazing architecture. The warm springs attract manatees in the colder weather, offering spectacular views of these sweet beings from the dock. The boat ride with the naturalists through the “black lagoon” is beautiful and informative and offers great opportunities for bird and alligator photography. The food is excellent, and the staff is thoughtful, cheerful, and attentive.
- A4615DUsamt (8/5): My Difficult Stay - My husband, Sam, and I have been to the Wakulla Springs Lodge several times before and have always enjoyed our stay which we did this time also; however, I am now somewhat handicapped and we weren't told until several weeks before our reservation that their elevator is out of commission until July and that all their guest rooms are on the 2nd floor. This meant that I really struggled getting up the steep, 4 sets of stairs, but I did manage somehow. Our dinner the night we arrived and the breakfast the next morning were both really good as we remembered, but we won't go again until their elevator is fully operation!

- Jana (10/5): Ein besonderes Hotel in wunderschöner Natur - Ein ganz besonderes, wunderschönes Hotel. Toll gelegen im Wakulla State Park und am Wakulla River. Die Natur hier ist traumhaft. Die Zimmer wirken fast antik und auch die Lodge hat diesen Charm der 40er/50er Jahre... (hier wurde 1941 "Tarzan" gedreht). Etwa 100m von der Lodge ist dann schon der River, von wo aus man eine "Jungle Cruise" Bootsfahrt unternehmen kann (absolute Empfehlung!) und auch Baden kann man im klaren Wasser (abgesteckter Bereich wie im Strandbad). Die Zimmer waren sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet. Es gibt keinen Fernseher. Das Bad war recht klein, hat aber für unsere eine Übernachtung ausgereicht. Parkplatz vor der Lodge (als Hotelgast zahlt man auch keine Park-Eintrittsgebühr, sonst 6 USD). Es gibt ein Restaurant und Souvenirshop (mit Eisbar) in der Lodge. Das Abendessen war fantastisch und das Personal war super freundlich. In etwa 30min ist man mit dem Auto in Tallahassee. Es war dieses besondere Hotel auf unserer Rundreise, der "Geheimtip" sozusagen. Wir waren begeistert. (1 Übernachtung und Bootstour vorab gebucht). Es war alles super.

- Sherpa176015 (2/5): A loyal patron, who will not be back because of poor food quality, an obvious severe cost cutting measures by Management - My friend and I have been coming here for a very long time and loved it. However, we will not be back. We booked six months in advance for their New Year’s Eve party and a two night stay. The elevator still is not working so our room was on the second floor and I asked if our luggage could be taken up. The lady at the front desk was lovely but she said she had a bad leg so she couldn’t do it. After much insisting, she had a staff member come and take care of it . When we arrived, We found out they had canceled the New Year’s Eve party because it was too expensive. Now we could have a free glass of champagne and watch it on TV. No one called us to notify us the party had been canceled or we would have canceled our reservation. We always looked forward to eating in the Edward Ball dining room. What a disappointment this time. The shrimp and grits was so salty I couldn’t eat it. My friend’s shrimp meal had very small shrimp, much smaller than the last time we were there and the side vegetables were inedible. It took the waitress 15 minutes to even come back to get a food replacement order and then another 15 to 20 minutes to receive my food, which was moderately warm and average at best. The waitress was surly and never once came back to see how we were doing with our food. I will say, though all the other Restaurant, staff and Lodge staff or delightful. They did make adjustments on the bill for the food. We were still very disappointed in the quality of it. The New Year’s Eve meal was nice but mediocre at best. We had booked six months ago and we went to check out New Year’s Eve, the room rate had been doubled. We were told the computer makes the adjustments on its own. We were not notified and we requested management to correct it which they did. Staff did tell me there was a change in Management four months ago. Clearly management is cutting costs with lower quality food, canceling scheduled events without notifying the guests decrease staffing, etc. For most of our time there there was no one at the front desk. The room, however, was delightful and a housekeeping staff was wonderful. I am sorry to say that after many years of coming to this wonderful, beautiful Lodge and what used to be a fantastic dining experience, My friend and I will not be back. I sincerely hope that Managemen addresses these issues so that my friends and I can return to this beautiful Lodge again.

Carving station closed 10 minutes after seating, only well cooked prime rib remained. No starter sauce for shrimp. Service substandard and automatically added 20% to bill. Used to be a great spot for Christmas meal but now the prices rise and the food declines. Not recommended for the prices they charge.

- Matt (10/5): Under rated gem property in northern Florida - Absolute gem of a place. Historic building. $8 park run wildlife boat tour! Clearly subsidized by the state of Florida, you can't run a boat operation for that amount of money (I would know). We spent month and a half in Florida, this was the best place we stayed but a long shot. The history of the place was interesting, and it was like staying in a national park lodge, but the staying in the middle of the park with almost free boat tours and hiking triails?... This place is WAY under rated. Private event closed the dining hall so we didn't get to try the food there. But heh, we only stayed one night.

- RazrBakr67 (10/5): Great tour of Wakulla Springs! - We had a great tour of the Wakulla Springs. We saw a river otter, several manatee and a great many gators. The bird life was also very plentiful. The guide did a wonderful job explaining and pointing out different animals. She was very helpful and seemed to really enjoy her work!
- djoveges (10/5): Stepping back in time to old Florida, when life was simpler. - Exquisite Lodge built almost 100 years ago with only the best materials. Service was excellent. Food very tasty and the quiet park setting fed my soul. My favorite activity was the hour long boat tour. We saw manatees, alligators and a tremendous variety of birds.

- KMW-FL (10/5): Wakulla State Park-The Lodge-Great relaxing place - 10-19-2025 Our visit to The Lodge at Wakulla Springs was just what we needed to unplug, relax, and have a wonderful anniversary celebration. The hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places. Beautiful grounds (even with the construction going on at the moment). The staff was very attentive and pleasant to deal with. The room we had was very clean and was refreshed daily. The only complaint (small as it is) was that the walls are very thin...the noise level from the other rooms were very audible in our room, but not to the point that we felt compelled to complain to staff...just a caution to others. Also, they are working on the elevator which was not available during our stay. (The hotel did alert us to that fact as we made reservations.) We enjoyed three morning breakfasts with vouchers (B&B). The 'limited' menu was sufficient for us to have a satisfying breakfast each day. We also enjoyed two nights dining in the Edward Ball Dining Room. The food was very good as well as the service. The menu was varied enough to choose something different for at least a week or more if were to choose to stay that long. The decor of the 1937 hotel was splendid. The ceilings in the lobby will take your breath away. There is a swimming area with platforms, a small 'beach' area. They also have boat tours daily. We suggest taking time to enjoy the river and wildlife that will be pointed out to you by a guide. This is a touch of "Old Florida" in the Wakulla State Park.
- 993alg (2/5): Boat Tour is great, fun!! Restaurant dining should be skipped. - 10/19/2025 I'll start with I've lived in Wakulla County for 30 years and bring every family and friend visiting here. The boat tour is very enjoyable and relaxing, and just fun. We always go over the the dining room afterward. With a reservation you wait 20 minutes to be seated!! We asked to be removed from the waiting list because we were still in line to be seated and there were 7 tables open. In the past 6 months I have to say the service is nonexistent. They appear to be doing it on purpose to repel people. Someone here does not know how to run a dining hall. Very incompetent and the food isn't that special to warrant the wait. If it weren't for the surroundings I believe they would be out of business very soon.

- Traveler36152230035 (10/5): Wonderful River cruise, slow lunch service. - The river tour was exceptional and the guide was informative and witty. We saw lots of alligators, manatees, birds and turtles. We were lucky and the water was very clear, not always the case. Our lunch in the Lodge had very good food and atmosphere although the service was abysmally slow. It seemed they were somewhat understaffed, whether this was an aberration or a permanent condition I don't know. However, I would recommend allowing extra time for your meals and don't expect to eat quickly.

In the old days the soda jerk guy will serve you at the counter like any other bar counter service. If they would do that it would feel more authentic. Overall a good place to stay to visit the Wakulla Spings State Park. The double beds are very narrow. The breakfast was simple and not that tasty.

- carladV7176UB (10/5): Wonderful historic stay! What a gem. - This was a great weekend. The Lodge is beautiful and so architecturally-interesting! The staff did everything they possibly could to make our stay exceptional, which it was. The restaurant food was amazing (smoked fish dip, fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, the ribeye, and wedge salad were all outstanding!). The cocktails and wine were pretty great, too! We've done the Jungle Boat cruise a couple of times before, but each time it is different and entertaining. Staying in one of the Lodge rooms was so nostalgic, modern and clean, and we enjoyed watching old movies (Creature of the Black Lagoon, Tarzan, made in the Park) on the sofas the lobby before retiring to our wonderful suite. The Park Rangers do an architectural tour of the building on occasion, and that is fantastic to learn all about the building of the Lodge. It would be great to have that info in the notebook in the lobby for others to see. We loved our stay and highly recommend to anyone, both young and old.

- norme-ormond (10/5): First time visit here and enjoyed it. - For our first visit to Wakula Springs State Park and Lodge, we arrived labor Day, for one night. The park was very busy at the springs with teenagers mostly swimming and having a good time. We knew the elevator was being remodeled and the staff graciously carried our luggage, etc. to our second floor room. I must have missed it on checking out this stop and found out after we were in our room there is no television but they do have wifi. Upon checking in, we asked to be put on the boat tour (inexpensive and worth the money) and we were booked for a 4:00 tour. It lasts a half hour. I will do separate reviews for the boat tour and dining at the Edward Ball restaurant on trip advisor after this review. The second floor was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. We had a room facing the springs, #29. It does not have a tub, but a stand-up shower was there. If you go maybe take a extension cord because there are not many electrical outlets in the room or bathroom for charging. The lodge is very interesting if you take the time to read the brochure and then look around the lobby, etc. It also has a gift shop with ice cream and the world’s longest marble counter, over 72 feet. I tried the orange blossom sherbert while there. If you go also download instructions because we had no cell service there (we’re on T Mobile) and it was a little difficult finding the park. Once in the lodge we used our phone’s wifi calling. Everything was very clean and never saw any trash on the grounds. If we ever go again, it will not be during Labor day. The line to get in the park was about 20 vehicles waiting to pay. You must pay the park admission even if you are staying at the lodge. Only two disabled parking spots were available. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant dining room and never had to leave till we checked out.
- Traval013 (10/5): A perfect day! - We always love to visit the springs! This time we booked lunch at 12:30 and got boat tickets in advance for the 2:00 tour. The timing was perfect- we had a lovely lunch, a beautiful boat ride and ended with ice cream. A perfect day!

The room was comfortable and nice, and everything was exceptionally clean ( loved that there wasn't a TV).The boat tour was so much fun, and educational.The cheeseburgers were some of the best we've ever had. We sat outside for a long time, and watched people swimming and having fun in the water. It was wonderfully relaxing. The desk clerk that night(she had beautiful gray hair), got me hot water to make tea with. When checking out, we asked Karlin if we could buy coffee for the road. He said no, and proceeded to take the time and get us two coffees from the kitchen. Wakulla lodge should be very proud of thier employees. Thier customer service was extremely impressive.
