Guest Reviews
- Charles (6/5): - Room was clean and adequate
- Christopher (6/5): - If you need to place to rest, shower, and spend the night before your next stop (home) after camping at Great Basin NP, this place will do. Property has two locations within a block of each other. Sign on the second property says to go to the other for check-in but address posted on the door was erroneous. Oh sure, there’s also a number to reach the desk, but no nobody answers.
- GLYNIS (2/5): - I was unable to find establishments to check in and the phone numbers left on windows of another establishment under their name no one answered and of course it is a non refundable purchase
- Rossanna (2/5): - I drove up to the property and drove away. I did not check in. The property and surrounding area was very scary looking. Women in a corner smoking and waiting for who knows what. A lot of bikers in the area. I was not comfortable staying there and found another location.
- Bonnie (4/5): - The office is closed so you have to go to a different property check in and get any kind of service. Then, they tell you that that will take care of problems and never do it. There is a huge construction project taking place in downtown Ely so it is very inconvenient and noisy. It was very unpleasant!
- Robert (6/5): - Tv not working.told that cable needed fixed the foloing monday
- Randy (8/5): - the most important thing was a clean and comfortable room and bathroom
- Sheryl (8/5): - I was very pleasantly surprised! Great nights sleep!
- Kristin (2/5): - We were told the property is under new management, usually that is a good thing. Once we arrived, we were told by a man standing in front of the lobby (on his phone and smoking) that we needed to check in at the location down the street, which was obviously inconvenient. We were traveling with others, and at some point during our stay every key to all 3 rooms stopped working. That meant another inconvenient trip down the street. One night there were no employees to be seen, although someone’s little girl was trying to help us (she looked to be 6 or 7, she said her dad was across the street at the convenience store). The room itself had stained carpeting and was musty - there was no fan in the bathroom. The room did not contain a microwave, tissues, or a clock. This location was recommended by a family member who had stayed there several times. They were disappointed and embarrassed to hear that the property is no longer what it was.
- Richard (2/5): Hard pass on this one - The air conditioning unit was blowing warm air, basically just a fan. Not very easy to sleep in that warm weather. The water has 2 settings, hot or cold, there is no warm, so the shower was not pleasant. I chose this hotel for the low price, just a place to sleep and get a shower in the morning, it delivered on neither. The positive was the staff, they were phenomenal.
- I (10/5): - nice friendly
- Kerry (8/5): - Property is being renovated. Our room was newly renovated.
- Melissa (2/5): - The amenities were outdated and didnt work properly(Water heater, air conditioning, screens and curtains were ripped, parking lot needed repaving, no maid service, no room service, ice machines broken)
- Kelsey (8/5): - Bettee communication about property we were at lobby being closed and leaving our keys in a mailbox that anyone could have grabbed.
- Barbara (4/5): - Do you ever check out these propeties? Other than GM and Billy, it was very rundown. Potholes in parking lot. I would not stay here again and suggest you remove this property from your site
- mason (2/5): - So true story. Made emeigency trip to ely for family
- Nataliia (10/5): - Quiet, peaceful, cozy. A great place to spend the night.
- Andrew (6/5): - Our room was about 100mtrs down the road from office and dining room. Breakfast was a bit limited.
- Ginger (8/5): - I have stayed here before
- Bobbie (6/5): - There's lots of stains in the room, the chair was super stained and dirty wouldn't even put my bag on it. Odd stains on the sheets, had to use my personal blankets to sleep on the bed
- Sandra (1/5): It was a rip off unable to contact anyone hotel very dilapidated. Had to find other accommodations - Rip off charged for staying when we were unable to contact anyone to check in. Hotel in poor condition also.
- Patrick (8/5): Very good -
- Vicki (4/5): Just not good quality and didnt feel safe - Unsafe area...street person outside sending people to go in and get breakfast
Dont like no staff on grounds at this site. Blankets in rooms
No lids for coffee cups
Key cards hv never worked
- Ross (3/5): Poor - It’s a shit hole. Be prepared for that. If you can deal with it you’re fine. Whatever
- Jay (6/5): - Have to call for everything no one in office. Called for check in. Also for breakfast no one came to open so we just left so don't count on breakfast.
- Jacob (1/5): Terrible. - Nothing Every guest was given a universal access key. The owner was absentee and ignored my calls as well as those from booking. I’m still in dispute and involving the state. Oh also they billed me 80 dollars more than they were supposed to. So don’t stay here
- Ross (5/5): Passable -
- Jacob (1/5): Dumpster fire, with absentee management. Reported to the state. Booking.com is refusing to help with a refund. - Rundown facilities and as I’ve mentioned in this pending complaint, they give every guest a master key. See above.
- Clinton (8/5): - Don’t let the parking areas define your opinion of the facility. The room was clean and had amenities that are usually found only in high end facilities. A bathroom heater, iron and ironing board and a refrigerator!
- Beronica (2/5): Horrible - There was no one there had to stay at another hotel
- gary (4/5): - nice room, nonworking TV, no front desk on the property, no breakfast as advertised, door sticks and has to be forced open after the light turns green(rm 105)
- Andy (8/5): - Good cheap place close to downtown
- Roger (3/5): Poor -
- charlie (10/5): Nice visit - Nice place in a small town. Walking distance to almost everything. I went for the 3 day photo shoot at the train.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional - The staff went out of their way to make sure my stay was comfortable and pleasant
- Patrick (7/5): Good - Good location. Clean. A little run down
- James (8/5): - While the property is a bit "rough and rustic," we needed a comfy bed and a hot shower for an overnight when passing through town. It fit the bill. Have to give a shout out to manager Billy, who went out of his way to accommodate us and make sure that our stay was a pleasant one. Thanks, Billy.
- William (8/5): - We were surprised when we opened door to room. It was dirty. Smell was terrible. Tv did not work at all the front desk guy…..who was very kind……went and had to get a new tv. Not impressed at all. So noisy at night the neighbours. Never again.
- Tricia (5/5): Passable - The price. You do get what you pay for but it was decent. The rug connecting to the bathroom was very pokey on bare feet which hurt. Needs to have the threshold cover (?) replaced or a wider one put down to cover the pokiness. The lack towels and quality of the washcloths. Hair on the toilet seat - maybe the housekeepers? I'd like to think so....
- Maurice (8/5): - Nice clean rooms. Quiet..
- Robert (4/5): Not good! - While listed as a Hotel, it was clearly a Motel. The property was run down. Carpets and bed skirt stained and room had a bad smell. Did not stay, went to another Hotel.
- Lavita (8/5): - Michelle at the front desk was very nice. The room was clean
- Bobby (6/5): Family - This motel had a lack of most everything, it is old and under repair. There was a lack of personnel, cleanliness, and maintenance. The maintenance guy was doing everything!
- Melissa (5/5): This was a very disappointing stay. - The personnel were all extremely helpful and gracious. I was told the property is in the process of renovation. It certainly needs it. Very low light in the bathroom so hard to shower in the dark. Many amenities missing in the room. The website showed a refrigerator in the rooms. The manager managed to find one for us. She was very helpful under the circumstances.
- Lathan (4/5): - There was a white dirty towel in my bathroom and the towels are brown not white the parking lot was full of trash and the asphalt was all busted up there was no one at the office when I checked in had to drive to the other property to get my keys no ice at either property no milk for breakfast at the breakfast bar and my key quit working when I got back from the fair late at night and had to chase down the manager at the other property lucky I guess or I would have had to sleep in my Jeep was very worried
- Fahey (5/5): New owners are amazing! - Staff No ice machine, no AC in first room, no microwave in first room
- David (4/5): - Run down property without functioning air conditioning. Not badly located but badly needs updating.
- Miguel (4/5): - This property needs to be updated in every level
- ADINAv (2/5): DONT STAY HERE! HORRIBLE PLACE! - This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed!!
So many problems and management refused to fix the problems. First the water is so inconsistent it scolded my grandson when he was showering If anyone in the building was using the water at the same time it would get extremely hot then freezing cold. Second the AC did not work I had asked 3 times to switch rooms and was told there were no other rooms available. Carpet in the room was disgusting. I’ve machine was broken. The office is not open 24/7. And breakfast was not available at the times they have posted. House keeper took our personal towels and when I tried to get them back no one was available to go find them. Again DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE!! There are better options in the same price range. I’m still waiting for a response a week later from management on my issues. Also they lied to the Hotels.com representative when they called about the situation to help me switch rooms or get a refund and change hotels. They told the rep that they already switched my family into a different room.
- Mohammad Baqer (6/5): - We have been there one night, the room was not clean the spider net was visible on the corners, the breakfast is not good the yogurt they brought for breakfast was expired. Not recommended
- Michael (4/5): - Didn’t have our reservation and check in closed at 8:30. Door keys went offline during the night. People stranded outside their room pounding in the door in the middle of the night. No front desk to resolve. Website says front desk 24/7. Worst ever.
- Matthew (2/5): - Check in was difficult. Our first room had no tv, refrigerator or microwave. Got moved and second room had vice grips for a doorknob.
Staff left office early.
- Joseph (4/5): - Not nice, I would never stay here again
- Daniel (2/5): - After spending several hours trying to check in, I was shown a shabby room with a non working AC. They managed to find me another room at a different motel. I spent over a week at this facility but had to cut my stay short. I was assured that the difference would’ve refunded. Magnuson Park Vue refused.
I am part of a group of fifty pilots that visit Ely yearly. This facility is now blacklisted.
Do not shy away, run away from this operation.
- Kathy (2/5): I am aware that the motel/hotel is old but it needs adult supervision or a health inspector. Very uncomfortable and - The bed was decent. The shower, toilet and sink had water. Towels were nice and air conditioner worked. The drapes closed. Inside front Door knob was a pair of channel lock pliers. Carpet was hideously dirty. The whole room was dirty old and very sad. Way overpriced. Office was just as bad with clothes and junk all over the floor with overturned trash cans laying on the floor. Office was open but no one in site to get ice per the notice taped to the actual dirty broken down “ice room” The outside trash cans were way overflowing stacked with trash bags.
- Annette (3/5): Just needed a place to sleep and not very expensive! - The price The hotel is very dated and needs an up grade desperately. Clean, even the linen was very old!
- Crawford (2/5): Great staff, no air-conditioning, not worth the price. - The staff were very friendly I was on a motorcycle ride through the Nevada desert. I wanted three things: a clean bed, a cool shower, and air conditioning. I was very disappointed to find, after checking in, that the room did not have air conditioning. Oh, it had an air conditioning unit, however, the unit clearly did not work.
Yes, I was able to open the window (but remember, Nevada, Summer). However, for the price, the lack of working Airconditioning was a real disappointment.
Not to be too nitpicky, but the breakfast was very poor and the coffee was absolutely undrinkable.
- Sara (1/5): See above. Dirty room and broken sit conditioner - Horrible experience. No one at hotel for check in. Had to wait 10 minutes. Room was dirty. Air conditioning was broke. Couldn’t move us to another room. When the room got above 82, we moved ourselves to another hotel. Desk clerk never heard back from manager. Just awful
- Eileen (8/5): Very good -
- James (6/5): - Hotel and property good. Connivant location close to downtown Ely. Room clean and large. Nice Bathroom and sink. Had a refrigerator and coffee maker. All good, I have a good night sleep and was comfortable
Room for Improvement: TV and Dish did not work. Could not see news. Had no contact with check in person. The information and key was left with my name in an envelope on the main door. It had my address and information in it. Not safe for security.
No one manning the office at 7am, where I was told to finish my check in. Could not talk to anyone. Door open and unlocked but no one in the office.
No coffee and no cont. breakfast as I could see by sign on the door. I am traveling and really need my coffee.
I could have taken stuff out of the office. If I was a thief.
Lastly, I wanted to change card from my sister-in-law who booked the room, to my card. No one to help.
I waited and was told that no one was there, so I left.
It cost me extra time and concern about our CCs.
Thank you for reviewing my feed back.
Respectfully,
James Brown - staying at property
Janine Brown - booked room and card used.

- Kenton (2/5): Don't stay here - No one at the front desk, had to call to get service. Our door wouldn't unlock we were told to put a shoulder to it. Internet was out no TV. Contacted manager said TV would be up and running in 30 minutes would check back in with us. Manager did not check back in express the manager that this was unsatisfactory and that we would probably be leaving. Spent the night tried to turn in our keys the next day no one at the counter no one answered the phone had breakfast came back no one at the counter no one answered the phone.
- Grove (3/5): Don’t think we be coming back anytime soon - Staff was very friendly and helpful The first room we got the AC didn’t work then we got moved into another room and that AC didn’t work my husband I had to leave at four in the morning because it was just too hot
- James (2/5): - The front desk messed up the billing for two rooms upon arrival. Keys to rooms did not work. Rooms were not very clean. Carpets full of stains and crumbs. Blood stained bath towels and no hand towels. The mattress had a broken spring poking out of the side of the mattress and I almost gashed my leg. Come to find out, someone complained about that on yelp 11 months ago and they never replaced the mattress. Lucky me. The air conditioner is a joke. As in, not good at all. I had no refrigerator in my room, but my friend did in his. We've gone back to the front office 5 times to get the bill fixed and there's no one ever there.
Guess who else will never be there again...ME!!!!!
- Kathy (1/5): Bad - First we had to call to have someone drive to check us in at 9:30pm when the lobby was open until 10pm. Then it took an extra 20 minutes to even get in our rooms and the young girl who checked us in kept trying to leave before we even got fully in our rooms. Once inside the rooms we had absolutely no AC and only 1 of our 2 rooms had a fridge for use. There were dead bugs in the bed and more bugs and spiders crawling on the walls. There wasnt even a manager on site in the morning. It was one of the worst experiences I have had and I have stayed at worse looking hotels than this that I would rather go back to than Magnuson Park Ave.
- Grove (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (10/5): Nice little motel - Nice clean older motel. Very nice people, pleasant to work with.
- Allison (6/5): - The staff was helpful and friendly. The toilet was leaking. I turned off the water to it so it would be quiet. The weather stripping on the door was flapping. Glad it wasn’t winter. Otherwise, it was fine. The beds were comfortable and clean.
- Dan (6/5): - Cardkey didnt work the first two cards, and then didn’t work the next morning locking me out, ice machine was out of order, my milk at morning breakfast was expired, and we waited in the office for thirty minutes trying to check out before giving up and just leaving a note with the card key saying what room we were checking out of so we could get back on the road.
- Johnny (8/5): Very good -
- Harp (2/5): Very poor -
- Kimberly (1/5): Bad -
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Leann (4/5): Make your chiropractor appointment before staying here. - There was a fridge in the room. The staff was friendly. The bed was horrible, needs replacement. The shower leaked at the handle. It took 30 minutes to shower !! Room could be a bit cleaner.
- Anat (8/5): Very good - the staff is very nice. good recommendations for restaurant not very clean in bath room. no ice
- George (10/5): - Good place to stay.
- Kristy (3/5): Poor -
- Randy (8/5): - In the older part of town.
- pennie (2/5): - Let me book after hours but no one there to check me in, had to rent another hotel, no one answered or came for two hours.
- Nicole (4/5): - No microwave no fridge. No wi fi
- steven (6/5): - The room was clean enough and an average motel room. I arrived at the property at10pm and no one was there to check me in. They left my key and receipt taped to the door. In the morning there was no continental breakfast as advertised. There wasn’t a clerk to be found and the office was locked
- Tiffany (7/5): Good -
- Jay (4/5): Cheap but not cheerful. - Wi-Fi was so weak as to make it unusable. Bathroom toilet made loud screeching noise when flushed. Exterior is rundown. Cheap but not cheerful.
- James (8/5): - Checkin was pleasant, price was right, heater worked which was great because it was a cold day!
- Glenn (8/5): Very good - The staff was super friendly and helpful. Went above and beyond to help me due to issues with equipment.
- Anita (2/5): - No internet, no TV, front desk locked up and left as soon as I arrived. I was a solo female traveler, now alone at the hotel, trying to figure out why nothing worked. I felt vulnerable and unsafe. I tracked the desk employee to a sister property. He offered a refund and I went elsewhere. Looking deeper at the reviews I found that this is a longstanding problem with this hotel. I questioned why Expedia would continue to allow a property like this to continue booking through them, since they say they have tv and WiFi but clearly didn’t have either one.
- stephen (6/5): - Staff great. Clean inside but outside property very neglected
- Chuck (7/5): Good value and I would stay there again. Staff was very friendly and helpful - Did not have the breakfast Dish tv did not work for me.
- Cody (7/5): Good -
- Delbert (5/5): A place to lay my head to get some sleep. - The motel staff was nice and easy to find. The motel is old and needs updated. The carpet was dirty and the room smelled bad.
- Frederick (4/5): Not great. I would not stay there again. - Lots of hot water. Beds were okay. The first room we were given did not contain a fridge or table to sit at, contrary to what was expected in the room as per Booking.com's description. I had to return to reception to get access to a room comparable to what we reserved. The carpet in the room was worn, stained and dirty. I had to return to reception numerous times to get the room "keys" restored and to find out one had to lift the door's handle, rather than push it down as one would expect. When we went to reception in the morning (7:00 am) for breakfast, no one was there and the door was locked.
- Margaret (8/5): - The receptionist was great
- Linda (7/5): Good -
- Glover (1/5): Bad -
- John (10/5): - Clean room Very quiet
- Diana (8/5): - Toilet is too low for most people,
- Stevan (10/5): - Very nice area close to the downtown. Convenient for walking to shop or sightseeing the casinos and historic sites. The rooms are very clean and modern and offer many amenities, including a continental breakfast. Quite comfortable beds and pillows are a plus. The staff are friendly, courteous, and make the stay very pleasurable. Will make this a repeat stay when out this way again.
- Judi (8/5): - Old Motel, looks rough on the outside, but the room was clean, bed comfortable, great hot shower, a good breakfast and very friendly manager. Let us check in early.
- Dorinda (3/5): Would not recommend or use again - Nothing Broken Appliances
Sheets Only not enough pillows or towels had to call managers to bring more
No telephone in the room for Emergencies
Bed sizes were suppose to be queen size both, one was smaller
Bathroom door did not lock
The bathroom fan was broke
- ROBERT (8/5): Pleasent - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean and neet.
They did not have the breakfast in the morning, all they had was doughnuts and coffee and we did have a problem with the toilet when we got there that was fixed.
- Tomas (4/5): Never stay again - Service was great. If you don't need anything. Office closed at 9pm. No room maintenance ( making beds, throwing garbage or towels)in 3 days. Breakfast is coffee only and only after 8am. Doors would not open properly or lock. Microwave didn't work. Asked for extra towels since 3 in room, and were told maid didn't show up so no clean linens.
