• DeBaun (10/5): - Cute place to stay. The owners were very nice and accommodating. They live on the bottom floor and are available if needed. Clean and quiet accommodations. Breakfast is prepare yourself, but they had fresh local eggs, organic fruit, fair trade coffee (with multiple options for how to prep, espresso machine, drip coffee, Keurig) tea. You share a fridge and bathroom with the other guests. Very pleasant and quiet place to stay.

• Laura (9/5): Good option for a reasonably priced, pleasant stay - Pleasant room in a quiet residential neighborhood and only about a 10-minute walk from a beautiful park with a riverside trail. Appreciated the access to a full kitchen and ample supplies to make ourselves a nice breakfast. Also very much appreciate the hosts' work to make the lodging ecofriendly! Not sure if they allow pets, but would be helpful if they did. I don't mind sharing a bathroom as I've stayed in lots of English hotels and B&Bs that don't have ensuite bathrooms, but some guests might.

Although the place is not strictly accessible, I was able to get in and out and store my mobility scooter with help from the staff. Pleasant porch for eating breakfast and nice to make it oneself from what is provided. Breakfast a little basic, though adequate.
• Julie (6/5): You are renting a room and common space including sharing bathroom with potentially two other occupied rooms but it has - The kitchen was well stocked with hot pot or 4-5 different coffee makers (keurig, instant, press, etc). Organic eggs, gluten free oatmeal, fruits,pans, pots, breads, etc and even a compost container and recycling. We enjoyed making breakfast and relaxing in the kitchen. There was a great morning porch but weather was a bit chilly. If we had time, I would have loved to enjoy the Firepit that Flame started. The property was very clean. Kitchen immaculate. Bedroom clean and well thought out on needs. Community area was spotless. Because community environment, we met a lovely young lady from South America. We had some great conversations and shared travel ideas. There was plenty of free parking on the street. Raven was very nice walking me through the house showing me where extra towels and blankets were. Telling how to use compost container. Showing all the kitchen stuff. Making sure I understood rules so as not to disturb other guests. He was friendlier than Nick Saban. The walls were incredibly thin. Every conversation was heard. There were three bedrooms that shared one bathroom. We had to whisper so as not to wake anyone. I saw guest house and two queen beds with shared bathroom. I interpreted it as a separate space with two bedrooms for us with shared bathroom not three separate rented bedrooms using one common bathroom.

They provided all we could need for a good breakfast, everything organic from fresh eggs to oatmeal, to fresh fruit, coffee and tea. And we enjoyed it on a cute little screened porch. Owners lived downstairs and were available for anything we needed.

We really liked staying in such a home-like environment where you can just make your own breakfast with organic food and the best coffee. Everything is sustainable and it makes you feel good not to produce a heap of plastic trash as you would with a hotel breakfast. And the location is great - we walked downtown to enjoy the local restaurants.
• Sara (9/5): Superb - I stayed with my husband and two teenage children. Raven and Flame were great hosts and very welcoming. It was great to have access to a well stocked kitchen to make ourselves breakfast in the morning (Raven and Flame provided lovely local organic produce - fruit, bread, eggs, butter, tea and coffee etc). The house is quiet and very central. You can walk into the historic district in 20 minutes or take a cab if you prefer. Do note that there is a shared bathroom. This wasn't a problem for us (there are 3 bedrooms, we booked 2 of them and during our stay the 3rd one wasn't actually occupied). If it had been occupied by another guest, we wouldn't have minded but I guess some people would. There's a lovely area at the back to sit outside but we were only in town for a night visiting family so didn't have time to enjoy that. We would definitely like to come back. We found it much nicer than staying in a hotel for a family with two teenagers. There are also lots of leaflets and guides available which was very thoughtful. No problems with anything. It was all great. Wish we could have stayed longer.
• Helen (7/5): Welcoming - We loved the location and the hosts were hospitable. The organic bread, butter eggs and jam plus the good selection of coffee and teas. Impressive recycling and no single use plastic which was rare to find in other accommodation that we stayed in. One of the mattresses was memory foam which we found too soft. The accommodation was a little aged but homely and very good value for money.

We were given access to the guesthouse earlier than expected, even though we hadn’t arranged for early arrival. The hosts were welcoming and ready to assist with any concerns. The rooms were clean, as was the kitchen, which offered a great selection of coffee, tea, organic bread, and a cozy living room. It was such a refreshing experience compared to most hotels.

Breakfast ingredients were supplied and were good quality (farm raised eggs, bread that was delicious, organic butter). Hosts were very warm and gracious! As a 77-year old female, it was challenging to get my suitcase up the stairs leading to the house itself, and then another flight inside the house up to the main level. Room was very small; it would have been very tight for two people. Good for singles. Shared bathroom with 3 rooms, although it wasn't a problem when I was there because one of the rooms was vacant and the other one I didn't see at all.
• Andrew (8/5): Lovely room with shared bathroom in a cute house near downtown. - Faster wifi than you'd get at a generic hotel, cute home with nice people, lovely B&B like options and a focus on sustainable materials (and very high quality coffee provided!). Lovely common areas for working if that will work for you, relatively close to downtown but a little to far to walk (but short drive, also short drive to a lovely river walk!). I had hoped to do a zoom presentation for work in my room, but there unfortunately isn't much of a desk set up in the guest rooms. They're comfy enough, and as I said, you can work from other parts of the house, but if you need some privacy while doing so it may not work out.

They had local organic products in the fridge for breakfast, and such as eggs and fruits! Comfy beds, the rooms were clean and colourful. You share the B&B with two other rooms, which was fine, no traffic in the bathroom ;).

The guesthouse is equipped with anything you might need, and most things are plastic free and planet friendly which was a great bonus. We loved the space, the self-service very generous breakfast and the super quick response time. We would love to stay again if we come back to Virginia! Nothing, it was great!

The A/C didn't seem to blow in our room as well as it did in the rest of the house, so it got pretty warm in the bedroom with the door closed, even though it felt fine elsewhere.

From the moment we booked, they were communicative and wanted to ensure that we had the best and most comfortable time staying at their accommodation. It really felt like we were visiting friends or family more than just a house we were staying in. The home was clean and very cool to look around in might I add! We will for sure be coming back. Its emphasis on sustainability is great. It is a bit of a distance (maybe a mile) outside Charlottesville town centre but I knew that in advance and it is not a difficult walk,

The location was quiet with easy access to downtown and the interstate. The hosts were welcoming and helpful. This isn't really a complaint, but an observation. I am used to sleeping on a firm mattress, so the bed felt too soft to me.

They could have been more conversational but it was obvious they didn’t have time to interact with me. The floors made noise and walls thin as paper. The bathroom was shared.. when guest rooms are totally full it would be a disaster for anyone on a morning schedule.. you would share one bathroom with potentially six people. Not good .. plus… the scornful looks from another guest who happened to be one of the hosts’ older sister .. said it all. They wanted my money for doing a really small amount of hosting. There was also confusion as to my arrival time. Yes I came earlier than originally planned but I let them know ahead of time. And plus I still honored the check in time of 4:00pm. Also.. don’t say in an info message that you offer to pick a guest up from the train station for a small charge if you don’t really do it.

• Corinne (8/5): Restful and convenient home away from home - Everything was clean and comfortable — bedroom, sitting room, kitchen table, shower. I appreciated that the hosts buy local and/or organic foods and that quiet hours are maintained. The art, the cheerful colors, and the many plants are also nice. Also, Flame was organized wrt arrival time and check-in process. Location was great, a quiet residential neighborhood with a bus stop very close to the house and the downtown mall just a half-hour walk away (or a very short bus ride). There’s only one thing I didn’t like: Sound carries easily through the vents, so while the guesthouse on the top floor is visually quite separate from the hosts’ home on the bottom floor, we can still hear each other. At least I assume the hosts can hear from downstairs. I could make out conversations at times. I could tell my room (the Tidewater) was above the kitchen, for example. I couldn’t hear anything after 10 PM, it should be said.

• Bryan (9/5): Great find in a cute town - Flame & Raven are lovely people , and the rooms in their home are comfortable. Checkin was easy. We were shown around by Flame, who gave us information about getting downtown. You have the use of a very clean, well equipped kitchen, a comfortable dining room, and a living area. Breakfast is provided for you to cook yourself. The bread and peach jam were particularly nice. The owners are very keen on being environmentally friendly, which we very much appreciate.

• Wendy (10/5): Too fast and would love to visit again. - They had everything you needed, beds were comfortable. We didn’t get to see enough of it. Very sad for us. My flight was delayed 6 hours and put us in later than expected and had 0930 reservations the next morning. Great people

• Laurel (4/5): Gracious hosts, but the place just wasn't in the stars for us. - When we arrived the host was not at the property upon our previously stated time for arrival. Proper notification was given almost a day prior, even that day I had asked to arrive earlier than 4pm due to plans, possibly there was a miscommunication, I do not know and unfortunately we had an engagement early evening we still had to get ready for which was also mentioned in our arrival inquiry to the host. So we not did we have any time to waste, but luckily and quickly was able to rent elsewhere. At first glance we were skeptical but didn't have much time to judge at first, but as we waited briefly for the host to respond to a text announcing our arrival that eventually came almost 20 min later, we were able to see that it may not be as suitable as we thought... I get the vibe the hosts and place eludes to, and again we did not enter the property, but when its 85 degrees plus outside the windows of the entire property did not need to be open. It was hot that day! That was somewhat concerning, however we still waited a few more minutes thinking we should but had already decided not to stay.
• Ronald (10/5): Closest thing to home !!!!! - This place is fantastic it's like being in your own home but being taken care of the atmosphere is great you can sit out on the back porch which is screened in or you can go out in the yard you can play games you can look at paintings that Flame has done and other stuff that she does you can get a massage ( extra cost )you can do all kinds of stuff these two guys are great Flame and Raven are very friendly, welcoming, kind and gracious really concerned about your comfort and how your stay is I would recommend this place so much every time we are in town this is where we stay and you should too Flame is the Lady of the house and Raven is the Gentlemen of the house ( just an FYI ). We absolutely loved everything so there's nothing I can say that we didn't like.
• Edmund (10/5): This was an excellent and enjoyable stay and made my first visit to Charlottesville a pleasant one. - Exceptionally clean and comfortable, in a quiet location easily accessible by bus from downtown and the Monticello trail. The hosts were very welcoming and super helpful and are just downstairs if you need any assistance. Plentiful varieties of tea and coffee available in the well-equipped, clean, and well-ordered kitchen. Holly's Diner and Firefly provided warm and lively evening entertainment and good food within easy walking distance. I would heartily recommend for a stay in Charlottesville! The bus to the Downtown Transit station (for downtown and the University of Virginia) and for the Monticello Trail only goes once an hour. However, with good planning this is perfectly manageable.

• Barbara (8/5): Very homey and peaceful environment, relaxing after a long day on the highway. - The hosts were welcoming and efficient The room was thoughtfully arranged. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Be aware that 3 guest rooms share one bath. This didn't present a problem for me, but this is not the place to indulge in a log bath.

• Daniele (5/5): Passable - Street parking was readily accessible.Couple who managed the priperty also seemed eager to share info to make your visit a good one. Room was a good size. I just stayed the one night. I wouldn't refer to this as an Inn. Essentially, it is a house with the bedrooms being rented out. A couple who own/ manage the property live on the floor below. The bedroom nor the common living spaces had a TV. And the next morning, if you wanted breakfast, you would fix it yourself from their supplies and then wash your dishes. Again, not what I expect in an Inn. This is more like a private room hostel. Lastly, be aware that the location is a residential one removed from the main dt area. You would have to drive to any shops or eateries.

• S.barnabe (10/5): Great place to stay. - Flame and her husband are two delicious persons. She does everything to make our stay confortable. Good breakfast diy with bio and local products. Nothing.
• Rakayla (10/5): Fairhaven is where I will go if I ever need to stop in Charlottesville - Very informative and LOTS of resources within the home. Beautiful greenery and peaceful nights. Everyone was respectful and amiable
