- Abdullah (4/5): - Run down property. Window frame shakes and rattles in the wind. It's functional and does the job, but not worth the asking price. If it had been at least RM50 cheaper would still be acceptable. In dire need of refurbishment.
- Ivor (6/5): - Close to my meetings as i was there for business. No food nearby (walking distance). Old building could use some reno.
- bikerguysg (4/5): dated hotel room plus black out - Pros - provides towels, toiletries, bottled water, there was a friendly receptionist whom tried to explain how to get a bite outside with her limited English.
Cons - dated room, given 707, lukewarm water, badly cracked parquet floor esp nearer the windows, sink had a crack, tv not clear, one key card, black out for one hour and a half plus for the entire 7th floor which i had to report and walked down to the reception after an hour which reception thought it was rectified.
- abdulhafiz25 (6/5): Business trip to perlis - Its a old hotel. Careful with the Wardrobe. It can broke anytime. The tv, not clear to see the movies. How ever, the room is spacious. The breakfast is nice but not many choices. Overall is acceptable.
- LAI MEI (2/5): - Bedsheets and pillow cases are stained - - obvious yellow stains can be seen on bedsheets, and the pillow cases are of greyish and with pen ink. Worst thing is that the toilet gets flooded after shower! Towels are old, same as the room. Hair dryer is only available upon request. Not worth the price I paid for the room. Very disappointing. Definitely won't come back!
- Joey (4/5): - The building is tuning down. Needs upgrading.
- Amran (10/5): - Nice place to stay with family
- Rafie (10/5): - Everything is good..except old school hotel
Masa nak check in Pintu bilik x boleh bukak, panggil maintenance utk baiki, last terpaksa tukar bilik.Bila nak mintak rate check x bagi plk.Mahal dan tidak berbaloi dengan harga.
- Lee (8/5): Good - Staff are friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - my kids enjoy the pool but the breakfast menu very limited.no pastry
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good good service. I like it. Very good breakfast.. Good good service. I like it. Very good breakfast
- BalvirBelle (6/5): Work-Leisure Getaway - Reception - Friendly and quick.
Room - 711 An awesomely spacious room. Tea coffee facilities were provided. The bathroom was not all that clean. Perhaps due to the MCO and the premises was closed for almost 3 months.
Toiletteries were provided every day. Clean, white towels. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. Very little of the traffic could be heard and that wasnt a nuisance at all.
Swimming pool was closed. Through the window of my room, I could see that the pool seemed to be fairly large,
Coffee House - Most of the days, the breakfast was ala-carte. Only when the crowd picked up, that's when we had buffet spread consisting of local dishes of nasi lemak and noodles. Bread, butter, jam, eggs was served too.
Location - Ideal location for travellers who wish to go to Padang Besar (34km), Kuala Perlis jetty being only 10km away too. Its close to the city centre, can take about 15mins walk or 5 mins drive. Just across the road is an eatery called Bossku. Though I noticed many cars parked during meal hours, I did not have the chance to walk in there. If you wish to enjoy some ikan bakar along the seaview, do drive up towards Jetty Langkawi (20 mins drive) and you will find a huge row of shops. For Chinese seafood, you can go to Hai Thien. If you like some cafe setting, try Blackwood, just a 5 minutes drive from the hotel. For shopping , drive to Arau (7km away) and go to C Mart.
All in all, if I have to come back again to Kangar, I shall certainly stay here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is good but the room quite old and need renovation.. quite ok but not that satisfying.. need an upgrade for sure.. credit for the staff service very fast and friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice Regency
- ranoa557 (2/5): not that convenient stay - @ the water heater not working
@ limited plug to charge the gadget
@ concierge not very friendly due to tiredness?
@ parking sucks as the lining not clear
@ counter staff not so friendly
@ the room quite an old type, need refurbishment
@ the toilet quite rundown
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good meal for breakfast
- bukharij2019 (6/5): Middle of the Road - This hotel is so-so for a short stay. Good TV reception, ample space and comfortable enough, though only just. The food is mediocre and limited and the hotel isn’t in perfect condition. The coconut trees beside the pool are a major hazard when strong winds blow because the old coconuts could drop and hit you in the head, so beware.
- Zack (8/5): - Overall, the hotel is good. The foods served were nice and fit my taste. Just for a pool, I think the cleanliness of water should be taking care carefully by the hotel since many guests and outsiders are using the pool. And not to forget the facilities at the pool should be upgraded because some of rhe facilities are old and not fully in good condition.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable & clean
- HASAN (6/5): Putra Regency Hotel, Kangar, Perlis - The quality of services need improvement including the staffs. The Hotel Manager need to wake up see for himseft what are the quality of services they are providing. Otherwise the hotel is going to lost their customers.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No comment
- Ng (4/5): Room to improve - Poor breakfast,
- MOHAMAD ROSLI (6/5): Average stay - Time for hotel to refurbish. TV and furnitures are outdated and old. Service was good and breakfast also good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The furniture has been renewed
- Anonymous (4/5): - The building is old. The room furniture is very old. They only provide bare minimum toiletries. The food at the cafe is also below average.
- WeiKian (6/5): - The cleanliness is very bad,I found a piece of biscuit beside the bed, and the mirror in the toilet still got stains.
The most stupid part in the room is, there are only 3 power socket in the room, one for kettle located near the wardrobe, one for TV, another one beneath the TV, I really have no idea what is the best way to charge my stuff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - safe and a lot of parking lot
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bathroom and toilet facilities need to be improved
- eddy (10/5): - old hotel but facilities is good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the building was great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - thumbs up. good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel needs full refurbishment..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Is a business trip but the bed is nice to sleep accept the air conditioning perhaps can improve colder
- cetan (8/5): - the water pot inside the room have to change. others is fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall was ok.spacious room food ok. Cheap price. Only tv was old (big) and no power source for charging hphone and to use iron.
- Lynda (8/5): - Room facilities are ok. There is a need for additional lighting
- Ginny (8/5): - Overall OK. Room very big
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old hotel but ok
- Nur (10/5): - the room is spacious
- David (8/5): - Although a bit old, the room is spacious, quiet, and clean. However, no supply of tooth paste and tooth brush...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the place is clean and neat
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quite antique
- Ibrahim (10/5): - Food was great and cheap price! their hailam noodle was great. super tasty. I will be back just for that.
- Muhammad (4/5): - Condition of the room is very dusty. Tv remote and phone is not working at all
.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the room is spacious
very convinient to stay
- Subash84 (8/5): Leisure with Family - Good Welcoming Hotel. Comfortable stay, clean room but bathroom not so clean. Tasty breakfast with quite number of choices. Swimming pool for kids not clean. Big room for 3 of us adult and 2 kids below 12. Convenient for the town access.
- MASG (10/5): - Cleanliness
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Need to upgrade television and bathroom , great location and very friendly staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The building was good the room furniture need to repair, air cond is not
cold.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Old facilities...
- aida38 (6/5): Decent hotel - Room was good but toilet not so great. But for a 1 night stay....its good enough. I prefer this hotel to Seri Malaysia as it is not sprawling and u dun have to walk so far to get to the room.....and the most important thing is NO MONKEYS!!!! TV selection is minimal....no cable TV.
- hakimamir (6/5): Decent hotel, perhaps the best you can get in this city - For a one night stay, this hotel is quite good. Spacious room, comfortable bed, good shower quality and overall space. The major plus point for me is the price, on a Monday night via Agoda, i got it for RM130, which is dirt cheap. Nearby to most of the city’s centre attractions .. the hotel could do with some much needed cosmetic makeover..paints were peeling at the main signage of the hotel! and Trip Advisor, the hotel has changed its name to Putra Regency now. Tq
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent and very professional staffs
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent Service
- AliAzzam (8/5): Newly furbished - From my last visit, I made several comments on the Hotel room itself. Recently I stayed at the Deluxe room which I believe were newly furbished and I am satisfied with it. The coffee House remain the same with limited to medium choice of breakfast. The check in was quite fast. Ample of parking space and make it one of the best Hotel to stay in Perlis.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellence
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good and comfort
- app3956 (6/5): Room good, bathroom bad - My twin bed room looked recently painted and had fairly new engineered wood flooring. The mattress were extremely comfortable and the comforter/blanket was soft and nice. Very nice room.
But the bathroom was a totally different story. Very smelly, moldy and dirty looking - needs a major clean and better still major refurbishment.
The rest of hotel was very old and tired looking. No room safe although it states there is on their website.
- shireeta (8/5): good - the room was comfortable, also good for family. near the food stall.
- HedyTan (6/5): Decent - It's now known as Hotel Putra Regency
We just made an overnight stop in Kangar.
For a one night stay, it's quite decent
Room is very spacious though the bathroom is not adequately stocked with the expected toiletries.
There is no bedroom slippers
Room rate includes breakfast. The replenishment of food is rather slow
Set your expectations low so you won't be disappointed.
- NSafinar (6/5): Need some refurbishment - Been quiet awhile i had been back here. Am quiet dissapointed to see the condition of the hotel kinda run down.
For the rate i am paying i am rxpecting a decent hotel treatment if a 4* standard. Which i must say it is only a 3*! High time for the management to do something.
- myra_sany (6/5): Standard hotel but with good hospitality - Stayed here for two nights.the room is standard and ok to stay for two persons.check in and check out process were smooth.there are a big pool and kid pool also provided.
The best is the breakfast part.eventhough there were limited selection but the taste were delicous.
Suggest to provide free wifi as it is a basic need for the customer.
Overall, considering the price which is afforable,i think this is one of the good choice of accomodation to try
- ANFW (4/5): It's time to change - It's an old hotel but expensive. Smelly room because of the carpet. The toilet also need a new bath tub and a little bit of renovation. But the location is in the centre of Kangar town. So it's easy to buy food by walking. The hotel food also expensive and not worth it to order.
- yellowthing1 (4/5): A little unwelcomed - From the moment we stepped in to check-in, we had to do a fancy dance to be noticed even though we were standing right in front of the counter. Check-in was slow and a hassle as the front desk was not able to locate my 3rd party reservation details. Mind you everything was fully paid. Trying to ease the process by showing my reservation slip was not any help because front desk did not know how to link that reservation number to their system.
Room was a little run down for a suite. The window was bolted shut but not tightly shut so we could hear the wind melody when the breeze got a little too strong. Called front desk to ask if there was a room we could change to but they insisted on having the maintenance guy check it out. He basically unbolted the screws and turned the window pane 180 degrees and bolted it on the other side. Thereafter the wind melody was still audible but not as loud as before since the breeze had slowed its pace. For the effort made, we did not further insist on any change of room and just accepted it.
Nothing much to scream about with regards to the service or the lack of it to be truthful.
Leaves you with a feeling of "stay if you want, else we have other customers waiting for your room". A little bit harsh but I say it as I feel.
But having said all that, Pak Cik Maintenance Guy was polite and a very nice man who tried his best to help us out. Unfortunately, I did not get his name
- isaaconly (6/5): Best hotel - I was expecting more than this. Came to check in, they gave me a card to access the room but next time please put into an envelope to make it more welcome. The room was ok but the morning buffet was just ok. They offered very limited dishes.
- 198stacyk (6/5): Okay for short stay - Pros: Comfortable beds, tea / coffee & 2 water bottles free, towels provided, toiletries provided, daily room service, breakfast selection during weekends are okay, walking distance to night food stalls & 7eleven
Cons: Tv channels (1-3,7 & 8 only), pool opens 8-12 & 3-7 only, during weekdays breakfast limited choices, no malls around
Hotel is okay for short stay.
- zitasharmani (4/5): Rundown - My room was booked by my company but this sure doesn't justify being given a run down room like this. Arrived at a late hour on a Monday night, heard that the hotel was run by a new management thought it would have been better
No wifi in the rooms - carry you laptop to the lobby. Are we still so backwards?
Asked for an extra blanket - was told that they have to charge me RM 18.00 for it.
Photo of my breakfast attached. I had mee hoon swimming with oil. The girl at the reception told me that if I lost my breakfast voucher, I would have to pay RM 18.00 for breakfast. RM 18 for meehoon swimming with oil!!
Service from front desk staff was poor
Room was rundown
Food was poor
I pesonally wouldn't recommend this hotel. My colleagues in Kangar had a good laugh and will remember Putra Palace as the RM 18.00 hotel!
- JamesNjim (6/5): Comfortable stay - This hotel has been renamed Putra Regency Hotel since the beginning of this year. I had stayed here a few times in the past on official and private visits. It has been the sought-after hotel because of its good facilities although out of town. The rooms are large and amenities are basic. It is getting outdated and some improvements and renovations are urgently needed.
- Kebuh (6/5): Good location but very dated - When in Kangar, Perlis you don't really have much choices as far as hotels are concerned. I had reviewed Sri Malaysia awhile back which I found reasonably acceptable. Putra Palace, whilst in a good location has really got to renovate their rooms. The room was large enough but I had issues with their showers which were effectively a shower head and a shower curtain. By the time you finished showering, the entire bathroom was wet. Nothing a shower stall could not solve. Room was clean enough but looked its age. Whilst acceptable for a short stay, I wouldn't recommend for anything more then the one night!
