- paulina (10/5): -
- Alejandrina (9/5): Confortable charming hotel at a great price. - Located in one of the oldest neighborhoods, this hotel’s location is ideal, with great eateries, bookstores, and bars within walking distance. The staff was friendly, helpful, and available 24/7. The bathroom could be cleaner and smell better.
- Anaid (5/5): Observaciones - El servicio del bartender La chica recepcionista. Nos dio un trato muy pobre y nos mandó a un baño fuera de servicio
- Edwin (10/5): -
- Benjamin (8/5): Great location and value with breakfast - Great location and value There is some severe slowness on the WiFi. Only 1 pillow provided for the bed

- Frank (8/5): 30 years ago I had a good stay. This year I had a good stay. - A decent family run hotel. Good location to tour city. Not fancy, but nice.
- Iryna (8/5): Very good - Nice inner garden. Friendly staff. Perfect location near the bus station and city center. A bit noisy till midnight and early wake up because of cleanings outside of the room.
- Lucinda (8/5): Very good - The hotel garden and terrace is beautiful. The location is amazing- in the heart of a cute and fun neighborhood with lots of good food and shopping. The room was spacious and had a nice balcony. The hotel is nice and a good deal but could use some updating. Breakfast and coffee availability was unreliable.
- Maiya.lena (9/5): Superb -
- Frank (8/5): Very good -
- Green (9/5): Superb - The room great the common areas great including breakfast great staff friendly and helpful. No hot water . Oh well...nice cooling showers is ok..
- Matthew (8/5): Very good - Very clean.
Easy walk into the center but lots going on in the area too. Having to wait for staff to buzz you into the property feels a little odd, it would be good to have an access code instead.
They keep birds so it can be quite loud in the courtyard at times
- Lucero (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassandre (9/5): As a solo traveler this was a perfect place, simple, clean and a great location. The staff was extremely nice and welcom - Great location and incredible staff.
- Luke (9/5): Amazing location - Amazing location. Was here for Dia deblos Muertos (Day of the dead). There was always something happening just outside. The town centre was also walkable. The hotel was very outdoorsie with parrots in the garden. Only one shared bathroom that I was aware about. There were times I had to wait for it to be free.
- Luke (9/5): Superb - Great location. Was here dia de los muertos, and there was usually something happening just outside Only one shared bathroom that I knew about. Doable but wished there was another one
- Georg (9/5): Still a great budget option in Oaxaca City. Would stay again. - Breakfasts are still nice and great for chatting with fellow guests. The courtyard garden is excellent. Nada.
- Paul (10/5): My wife and I will be staying there again. Good people and good accommodations. Thanks. -
- Joy (8/5): Very good - Excellent fruit My mattress was too hard
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional - Really enjoyed our stay at Casa Arnel.
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ar.nederland (6/5): Pleasant - The location was the best The room and shared bathroom need maintenance. The walls' paint in the room and bathroom is old. The shared bathrooms need improvement, for example, one of the windows was incomplete.
In the bedroom, under the bed, it was dusty, and also in the corners of the room.
- Cyrus (7/5): Good -
- Ivan (8/5): Very good -
- Laramj (3/5): Staff didn't seem to care - Its a very nice building, with a nice courtyard and overall decor in the communal spaces. It's in a good location - not in the centre of Oaxaca - but in an interesting area with lots of street art and not too far from the main stuff. I arrived and the staff said that they had given my room to someone else based on 'a problem with booking.com' but this meant I had to accept a downgrade - so I ended up in a single room with shared bathroom. They really weren't apologetic about this and to be honest, I felt they didn't really care about me at all. The whole time I felt they were basically absent and uninterested.
During the night, there was a lot of noise and when I went to ask the owner about the guests making noise, he intimated that I should go tell them myself. I had to (at 23.30) tell other guests on the patio to lessen their noise, which was embarrassing. Then, the noise from next door got very loud so I still couldn't sleep. I asked for some earplugs which they gave me. But be aware that those walls are like paper.
Then I went to the toilet and there were two cockroaches. Now, I've lived in Latin America and I know that after a lot of rain this can happen in older buildings. But the whole experience just felt like one thing after another.
- Kerry (9/5): Oasis of calm in town. - Quaint and quirky. I really loved this place and immediately felt completely at home. My single room was spacious and clean with a simple ensuite . Not modern but adequate. The hotel is built around a piece of jungle well established trees snd plant and birds. It is stunning then has expansive walkways and terraces for socialising or contemplative moments early morning, in the heat of the day, . In the evening it's charming to watch the activity in courtyard of the church opposite. There are plenty of bars a restaurants and it is in easy walking distance of the centro historico. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room quiet. It was clean but not modern. I would have liked breakfast to be included for that price. It wasn't cheap.
- Mary-beth (10/5): Great place, friendly, lovely, clean, central - Very friendly and helpful staff nothing
- Hugo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rod (9/5): Superb - Beautiful courtyard, Great neighborhood, helpful staff Room is tiny but I expected that and it was fine for such a short stay.
- Henry (7/5): Good - Lovely courtyard and lending library!
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Loved the grounds - the terrace, the green courtyard, complimentary coffee and fruit, great simple breakfast to order, the library .... Our room was on the corner of a busy street, it was on a noisier side
- Hillary (9/5): Superb - I love Casa Arnel. It is a budget traveler's haven. The rooms are modest, the staff is great and the gardens, grounds and rooftop patio are wonderful. I will be back.
- Miles (10/5): awesome spot and staff. interesting guests - great barrio the coffee could be better
- Tobin (10/5): - Comfortable room, reasonable price, friendly staff, good location in a cute and colorful neighborhood. The courtyard garden with parrots and a shy dog are nice. This hotel is very popular with older foreigners / retirees so it's quiet in the evenings
- Linda (7/5): Good - Casa Arnel - Very basic but very clean.Safe neighborhood. Friendly staff. Easy to meet other visitors at shared light breakfast table. It is not close to the zocalo but in Jalatlchlo neighborhood which is pleasant and close to cafes and restaurants.
- Hillary (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - location, courtyardand rooftop
- Marcia (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Caroleen (8/5): - The only drawback to Casa Arnel is the internet reception which is better or worse depending on time of day.
- Moises (8/5): - Ok just in the shower the water it is cold
- Fiameta V (6/5): Charming and friendly, a great location. - Charming and friendly but the hot water and wifi is intermittently available, and there are mosquitoes in the lobby if you try to use the weak wifi closer to the router. the location was excellnet and provided a lot of authentic encounters with locals and the mostly native visitors, who were all friendly and tried their best to help me with questions, the location felt very safe, and I encountered no adverse experience.
- Kristen (8/5): Oaxaca stay - The room is comfortable, but the shared bathroom was not my style. Very basic, but all I needed for a few days in Oaxaca where I didn't spend much time in my room other than sleeping. Wifi was very weak, but staff was lovely and very welcoming!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff is very friendly and most accommodating! Unfortunately I was bitten many times by mosquitos - I discovered that the bathroom window was open with no screen.
- Brenda (10/5): - Very welcoming in every aspect. Wonderful neighborhood
- Verified traveler (10/5): - First stayed here 22 years ago -then brought a university group 14 years ago- very welcoming— very friendly and comfortable place. Highly recommended!!
- Margaret (10/5): Great value and location - Very good except for access as ringing at the door was often a wait for entry.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place - The Internet didnt really work when we were there for 3 nights and we had trouble with the shower which they helped sort out. The location is great and the place itself is really nice, especially the lovely terrace.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Terrible hotel. Shared bathroom and toilet were filthy. Bed sheets were so old and thin you could see through them. Towels didn’t look clean. Worst night ever, should have slept at airport. Night guard tried to make us pay cash for our booking even though we had proof we had paid online.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and friendly staff. The staff made me feel very comfortable and welcome during my first trip to Oaxaca.
- Arturo (6/5): - Nice and peaceful hotel. the rooms could use new and more comfortable matress and pillows.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful hotel with tropical plant courtyard - Casa Arnel is my all time favorite hotel. I've been to Europe, Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and the U.S.A. The hotel has character, beauty, and class. I love the architecture and each room is different from the others. It's so cute. We love the courtyard and the rooftop terrace. You can drink your coffee up on the terrace and look at the huge trees and flowers. The staff and the food is pretty good, but the kitchen staff took 30 minutes to bring us toast. That's a really long time to wait for toast. I highly recommend this hotel and it is the only place I would stay the night in Oaxaca. It is close to the city center. It is about a 15 minute walk.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Really bad description of the hotel, no bathroom - They said they have parking lot, they have not, we arrive around 4pm and our room was not ready, we have to share bathroom! Never mention in the description, we requested one bed and they provided two mini twins beds, so uncomfortable, no air conditioned, really bad experience
- Nancy (8/5): great location - The rooms are small but who stays in their room when all of Oaxaca beckons? There is a lush courtyard garden with several parrots and lots of birds. It's a cheerful place to stay. I had a room above the front door so when people arrived during the night it was noisy. Ask for a room away from the door. Showers were tricky, with water either cold or too hot. Hard to get it just right. Still, I would stay here again.
- Jaime (10/5): Beautiful terrace and gardens. - Great attention and clean place. the best time to enjoy the festivities is July.
- Satya (8/5): Good for economy and location, terrible services - Great location, conveniently situated within walking distance of the Zocalo and a stones throw away from the church. Very economical - given the location and season. Breakfast not included, and restrooms (especially the shared ones) are HORRIBLE - they keep backing up. And the receptionists is very unfriendly - no printouts for boarding passes, no soaps at night if there isn't one in the restroom. Lots of mosquitoes and bugs - not sure if the towels were even cleaned.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Fair warning! - Had heard very good things about this hotel, but after arriving and being ushered to a room that smelled moldy with no ventilation and no fan, we started to get concerned. Towels were ragged and should be replaced. Shared bathroom (not usually a problem) was not particularly clean and had one showering on top of a toilet. We moved to a room with private bath (at additional cost) and were accommodated, but still smelled dank. The fan rattled and was loud and the shower sprayed water all over the bathroom. Saw small cockroaches on the bathroom floor in the morning. Asked for a cup of tea, and were charged 20 pesos (usuriously high price). 2nd floor rooms seemed to be less dank, but the general worn state of accommodations. The courtyard is truly beautiful, and they put friendly parrots out during the day. The little library was also interesting and the 2nd FL deck looked fabulous and fun. Perhaps the dankness was due to the rainy season, but beware of the room conditions and poor & less than friendly service. This place keeps its front door locked, and you have to ring to get inside. At times, we had to wait a few minutes just to be let inside.
- Lisa (8/5): Pretty courtyard, great rooftop deck. - a nice family run hotel just on the outskirts of the Centro Histórico. Great cafes nearby,
