Guest Reviews
- N5020VPchadb (4/5): Very Disappointed - Unfortunately this "hotel" was the biggest disappointment on our trip and I want to give people a heads up before they decide to stay here. We stayed in Room 10 for 5 nights, so I can only comment on the condition of our room and experience.
Pro:
1) Was pretty quiet, didn't seem to be a lot of other guests there. location is off the main path so it was a quiet area. Was in a residential area needed google maps to make it there.
2) Pool was older, with loose light fixture underwater and leaking retaining wall, but it was nice and the kids enjoyed it.
3) Housekeeping made beds, swept every day and was polite and nice, She was a positive of this stay, we saw her more then anyone else. Only changed sheets and towels every 5th day.
4) Air Conditioning worked well, Tv worked and had a decent amount of channels.
Cons:
1) Landlady was unreachable. We were able to locate her to check in, and that was the last we saw of her. Her phone was constantly turned off, and she did not answer her door (right by entrance, unmarked), even when I could hear the TV inside. Could not locate her to checkout, so we just left the key in our door, and left. Also language barrier with staff, minimal English.
2) Roommates, See attached photos, we found a massive spider, a giant cockroach, and there was a lizard hiding under the sink. (did not get a picture of that one). We had to double check all our luggage as we packed to make sure we weren't bringing home any unwanted visitors.
3) Room itself was nice enough, but the closer you looked the worse it got, The window by the stove was not installed properly and the whole frame and window shook in the wind, banging around all night, had to jam towels into it to keep it quiet. No rugs or carpet anywhere, was a safety hazard in bathroom once it got wet. Stove used a propane tank that was located under the sink, and we needed to cook with the windows open to keep the fumes down to a minimum, it did had stove hood, but not enough electrical plugs between fridge, stove and hood to have it plugged in, cord just hangs there. Both headboards not attached to bed, so they also would bang.
4) Sink in bathroom had draining issues and would backup with minimal use, tub is old, was peeling and the shape of the showerhead sprayed water outside the tub causing water to be all over the step into the tub (major slip hazard). No electrical outlets in bathroom.
5) website states breakfast included, we booked upon this information thinking we could save some money with one less meal, but was told by the landlady that there was NO breakfast.
6) No fire detectors, small fire extinguisher in hallway. Front door to hotel is always open, and room doors are hollow-interior doors with ONLY key/Push-button lock, NO deadbolts, felt VERY unsecure.
Neutral:
1) Could not flush toilet paper, but that seems to be an issue on the island overall, so I wasn't too concerned about that one.
2) "Walkable" to Palm Beach nightlife, but very questionable (would not even try after drinking). No street lighting, and would have to cross extremely busy road with no crosswalk. We choose to just drive the 3 minutes and park.
3) Broken down cars in parking lot, while not a safety issue, its also doesn't look good if your running a business.
- V Michael (2/5): - Hotel staff entered my son’s room several times with saying why. Proceeded to do something in the bathroom behind a mirror. No lockbox in the room either. He checked out immediately after the staff entered his room the last time. Was not a safe environment.
- Lee (10/5): - Very Affordable! This location is a 10 minute walk to the strip of main attractions. The beds were nice and comfortable
- PAWEL (10/5): - This is a great place to stay if you're looking for an affordable option. While it’s not a 5-star property, it offers everything you need, and I’d give it a 5/5 rating when you factor in the price and all the amenities included. The staff is friendly, and they even allowed us to hang out by the pool after checkout.
- Francisco (10/5): amazing - Amazing!
- Alan (6/5): - There was no recorded reservation when I got there. They found me a room close by for the first night. The staff was great. The room was ok, air conditioner needed fixing and no hot water for showers.
- Svitlana (10/5): - Everything was great
- Barbara (4/5): - It looks like this property was at its prime 20-30 years ago.
In our room, the window blinds were missing. The couch and beds were old with wornsheets and blankets. The bathroom faucet handle comes off. One Coffee cup in a room for 2-3 people. And there were roaches every day.
Around the pool, the chairs were old and rickety and not sure if the jacuzzi works or not.
- yuanyuan (6/5): - saw few big cockroach walking around,, freaking my daughter out
- Marcy (6/5): - The property did not know we were staying with them. Expedia did a poor job of communicating with the property to ensure that the reservation Expedia made for us was received. This caused last minute stress for us which was unnecessary. Also, I understood that we would be provided breakfast but this was not the case. Finally, there were bugs in our room.
- DAVID (2/5): Beware of Bait and Switch - I was the victim of a bait and switch. I booked and paid for a room with a double bed along with a single bed, a full size refrigerator, kitchen area. The room i booked was called the Royal Suite.
When i arrived there was no conversation at all about room issues. I was taken to room 13. It was up 19 steps outside. Once entering it was a 12x12 closet at best with a dorm style refrigerator and TV that did not have a signal the entire first night and was useless . There was a bathroom as well.
The room itself was clean. I had brought a cooler full of frozen meat with me and this certainly would not accommodate me. When i brought this to the attention of the gurl who escorted me to the room she called the owner. All of s sudden there was a language barrier. In essence I was told the other room had a broken bathroom and since it was NYE weekend there were no repairmen available. So i asked just to use the freezer in thebother room. I was then told no because work men would have to go in and out.
It became obvious that they rented that room to someone else. It was NYE weekend and i had no choice to stay there. They did let me use an outdoor freezer that everone had access to. Thankfully my cooler was not disturbed. There was no apology no offer of refund. I was so disappointed. I was only staying there 2 nights tgen off to the Marriott surf club. It was only a 4 minute walk to the surf club. That is the only positive.
- Len (4/5): - extreemly basic
- 774debrag (2/5): Dreadful tour agent - We used Sandra’s splendid tours in Barcelona. What can I say…………
The attention to her customers needs was ignored, whilst her poor side kick was bossed around and run ragged all day.
We asked at one point to find a taxi as one of the participants was struggling with mobility issues, reluctantly she agreed, but then abused the taxi driver in pigeon Spanish.
Flying visits to many attractions, unable to fully get a feel for the place or even take a photo without being ushered along.
Was looking forward to Montserrat, however just saw the road up and back down again. Oh, and a dog doing his business in the road. Very rushed and absolutely no idea how to understand peoples needs.
Ended up making our own entertainment through Spanish dancing, learning the lingo and karaoke.
Ended up with her getting very drunk and singing through the night.
- Viktoriia (10/5): - Thank you to staff Sandra tours. Very nice people. I felt like I’m at home. Hotel located in just 7-10 minutes from the beach, restaurants, shopping mall. Very relaxing and quiet place.
- Fironia (10/5): - Good place, the staff are very friendly and kind. They provided us with beach chairs and they respond quickly.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Beauitful location and great people. Celebrated new years eve with them!
- Thomas (8/5): - Good proximity to Palm Beach, business, and nightlife, yet tucked away in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood. Pool, pool table, decent common facilities. Not much hot water, but a cool shower is needed when walking around in a hot climate anyway. Friendly staff, great price.
- Excursion735538 (10/5): family owned and operated wonderful people - pool in back yard close walk to palm beach family owned and are very friendly and helpful the rooms ae not fancy but they are cleaned daily.breakfast included always an egg and some type of meat and bread
- annwmarie27 (10/5): Cozy-comfortable-relaxing - Sandra the owner was so welcoming and kind from the very moment I booked. This hotel is only a 12
minute walk from Palm Beach and the strip- super easy. The room was beautiful , white linens, big window which you can open, a TV and a very well lit bathroom with a shower that has a good water pressure. Our room was cleaned and serviced (bed made) everyday by the staff. The hotel is like a bed and breakfast with an intimate feel to it. You wake up in the morning go to the pool/patio and have breakfast freshly cooked to order, which was usually over medium eggs,a meat and a grit cake/toast. There is also a pool table the guest can use free of charge. Everything went so smoothly and it was a very tranquil experience. I would most definitely stay here again.
- SlapShotHippo (4/5): Ok but nothing special - Stayed here for a couple nights over the new years holiday. In general there wasn't anything great or horribly bad about the accommodations.
Other guests decided it was ok to play loud music in the common area pretty late into the evenings (not the holiday). Disrespectful to those whose rooms open to the common area/pool area. Mornings weren't an issue with breakfast noise. So, I wouldn't say this is an overly quiet place to stay. Would recommend keeping music levels down after nine or ten at night for all quests when in the common areas. Just be respectful.
Last note, our pillows were paper thin flat. Would recommend something with some cushioning.
- Jaynyc2 (6/5): Some Positives and some negatives - I was attracted to this property because of the location and price. Without GPS, it would be difficult to find Posada Sandra Tours. Upon arrival I was greeted by the hosts. Very friendly and willing to help in any way they could. Breakfast is included. And I found it to be very fresh and cooked to my liking. I liked that the room came equipped with a mini fridge and good wifi. The room was comfortable....during the day. In the evening, there is a good lamp by the bed which had 'normal' light. But the ceiling and bathroom lights were blue (!). It was impossible to shave in the bathroom in the evening. My other issue was the lack of lounge chairs by the pool. Only upright wood chairs. While I had booked 4 nights, the last 2 nights I chose to stay elsewhere. If poor room lighting (see photo) and no lounge chairs are not an issue, I would highly recommend this property.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The owners were very lovely and welcoming. I had one major and one somewhat annoying issue. The major issue was the lighting in the room and bathroom. The lighting was BLUE. At least the bedroom had a lamp with normal lighting but the bathroom only had the dim blue light. Impossible to shave after dark.
- DrSilviuCiubotariu (2/5): Save money and book something better - Liked · Bed was very comfortable, very good AC, very friendly staff, quiet area and property, WiFi relatively ok
Disliked · The bathroom was terrible. The shower had almost all of the time very poor water pressure, there was mold spots on the cieling and I found two times, late at night cockroaches. Also our room didn't had a good isolation of the windows because in every single day at least 2 or 3 bees were flying inside although we never let any windows/door open. It is unacceptable to book a 3*** property and to "hunt" 20-25 bees during your staying especially when one of us is allergic. We discussed the issue but besides insect repellant spray there was nothing more to do, the room obviously needs some improvments.
- 267denisea (4/5): If Your Expectaions Are "Who Cares" I'm In Aruba.... - The owners (very nice) drove out to meet us because we couldn't locate the address.
We didn't get the room we reserved. We were told the "suite" was too big for 2 people that it was for families of 3 or more and had 2 beds not 1. (Turned out not true, photos on line show suite w 1 bed and kitchen and room across hall from us was a couple with a 1 bedroom Suite). Breakfast was a fried egg with processed slice of cheese and 2 frozen sausage links. Very NOISY! You can hear everything going on in the "lobby", other rooms, foot steps up and down the stairs as if you were standing there talking to them yourselves. There is a dog on the property upstairs that is out on the balcony that barks at everything. Property manager (which we didn't know existed until we needed to check out earlier than planned) does not understand English, hard to communicate with. The pool did not look as clean as the picture. We had the "pond" view. In front of it was a dirt lot with a lot of wooden pallets piled up and old broken furniture. Would not stay here again.
- corneliu (10/5): a nice hotel to consider for your travel in aruba - nice experience will stay again recommend to anybody traveling to aruba close to the airport
- Jackie (4/5): Close to mall, beach, fast food. - Nice owner and staff....room requires some attention that was promote a better stay. Even with rate paid...some improvements in room are necessary.
- Nancy (6/5): Disappointed - Starting with arrival. Hard to find. Outdoor area with pool ok. Room..not so much. No hot water..after calling Expedia (at our expence), we tried to change lodgings. The penalty charged by Sandra tours was too much. They installed a 2 gallon hot water heater. Yippee. Breakfast was fine, staff nice. Marta, the everything woman working there was wonderful. Little English, but we managed fine. Expedia DID NOT choose Sandra Tours, I did because if good comments and price. Hate to say anything negative, because the owners were so nice, but buyer be aware. Expedia tried. Asked for reception or front desk....there is none. Kitchenette adequate. They cleaned and prepared the outdoor Grill for us, again helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Small place near main road and tourist areas - Staff was very friendly. Had cake and champagne for my aunt's birthday. Facility was ok. Could use hot water in shower. Unable to open curtains during the day. Breakfast was good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): I slept in the renta car me and my wife - By looking at the room and the hotel it was terrible that why both of us slept in the car for four days it was my wife birth day on the 9/16/16 it was a terrible four days holiday for her birth day
- anastasia (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Very friendly. Great breakfasts. Showers were just warm, but days in Aruba are hot so a refreshing shower was great.
- 559nancyi (6/5): Crowded - The beach and water were beautiful and we enjoyed it, at first. Then the Carnival cruise ship passengers arrived. We were appalled at their behavior. They actually got under the umbrella with us to get in the shade. If you visit here, go when the cruise ships are not there.
- roxy12c (10/5): Good resort for the money!!!!!!!!!! - This is a very nice, clean resort. The staff is very attentive at all your needs. The rooms are big. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with plenty of room. Up to 8 people can stay in this unit comfortably. The unit is very clean and there is daily room service. The icemaker did not work, but we called and we had ice delivered to our room within 5 minutes. The staff called half way through the week to check and see that we were ok. The grounds were always well maintained. I noticed that the pools were always well maintained. They have themes every night, can't tell you much as we usually went out at night. There is security at night and I felt totally safe. You can walk to small kiosks where they sell breakfast pasteches (spelling?)of all kinds. Delicious. There are also kiosks at night all around that sell all types of good food. Try one!
WiFi- sketchy. We were in a room close to the pool. We had WiFi for the most part; but there were times that it did not work so great. You have to constantly log in.
This is not a place for you if you want to be able to walk to the beach. Although the beach is not far at all. There are so many beaches with amenities. My favorite was eagle beach. We found a bar that rents lounge chairs with a palaya included and there is free wifi. What more can you ask for.
- N9373AYmikec (10/5): Good Times!! - Had a fantastic time in Aruba! Excellent service from the staff! The breakfast was very delicious(tried an "Arepa" for the first time).
We did a jeep tour with Marvin to the natural pool and all of the island attractions. It was one of the best tours I've ever been on. We are thinking of going back to Aruba with more friends and definitely we will be staying at the Palm Beach Retreat.
