Guest Reviews
- G (10/5): - Erin was wonderful, making sure we were checked in quickly and given all the information we needed.
Fantastic location overlooking the ferry landing across the bay.
Huge balcony was wonderful for watching the sun set over the water.
- Manpreet (2/5): - Fake description about the rooms .very few items and no tv no wifi very less furniture
- Manpreet (2/5): - Not happy with the rooms, mosquitoes popping inside the rooms and making the night worse
Even the washroom was also not clean
Spiders web and mosquitoes everywhere
- Adrian (8/5): - Good clean no frills hotel. Many brand new rooms.
- Pamela (10/5): - Both Carla and Erin were great! We could not have asked for better hosts. The property is in a great spot in a quieter area. Our room was nice and had comfy chairs on a semiprivate balcony with a view of the harbour and the beautiful sunset.
- Peter (8/5): - Clean room , comfortable bed, beautiful view from the balcony
- Dylan (10/5): - very clean and quiet
- Hoda (8/5): - Very clean room, mattress and pillows are eeally comfortable. The View was good.
- Mary (8/5): - No appliances for hot water.
- Shannon (10/5): - Nice views and comfortable room, we would definitely stay here again
- Mary (10/5): - Clean room
- Peter (10/5): - Clean room, staff was great, I had room 43 and seating outside on the deck soaking up the sun and watching the views was breathtaking, a few times we saw the ferry come in
- Shenghui (10/5): - Room is very clean, staff is very nice!
- Yi (8/5): - Nice and convenient.
- Manny (10/5): - We had a pleasant saty at Tobermory Inns and Suites. They have certainly improved greatly since our failed attempt to stay here several years ago.
- anne (6/5): - the room had no chairs for sitting , No coffee maker.
the view of water was only visable from standing at railing on balcony. Advertised as premium room _ I do not agree with this for previous reasons.
- Obaid (10/5): - Lovely people at front desk, very flexible and understanding.
- Gustavo A (8/5): - Beautiful room, recently renovated, spacious and close to restaurants and the port.
- Ethel (10/5): - We booked last minute for a trip to Tobermory. The Tobermory Inn and Suites was very clean and comfortable. We came to Tobermory on the Chichimaun and did the Blue Heron Flower Pot Cruise one day, and the next day hiked the Little Dunk Bay Trails. It was a great visit.
- Peter (8/5): - Very clean. Great communication from staff ensuring a smooth check-in.
But, if you are a light sleeper, beware. I could hear the people in the room above me walking around, and the snoring from a person in the room next to me.
- Maria (10/5): - Very comfortable bed, very clean,beautiful view,excellent time
- randall (10/5): - The hotel was clean, in good repair and order, and had been rennovated to support modern needs for electrical supply and connectivity. Everything from the bathroom amenities to the various jacks to charge devices to the fridge and microwave were clean, working properly and well thought out. We enjoyed our stay immensly and would not only return, but would recommend to our friends and family!
- David (8/5): - A clean quiet room which was exactly what we needed at the end of a long day.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Very nice and simple
- Alan (8/5): - We were looking for simple accommodations at a reasonable price, and the Tobermory Inn & Suites delivered exactly that. The beds were clean and comfortable, which made for a good night’s rest. While the wall-mounted HVAC unit was a bit noisy, it wasn’t a major inconvenience. Overall, a solid stay and we’d definitely consider booking here again when returning to Tobermory.
- Anita (10/5): - They are renovating their property but clean and when completed will be beautiful.no problem at all.
- Janice (8/5): - The room was brand new so no problems with anything. Beautiful quiet location with water views. Lots of places to explore and of course the parks have trails for all ages to enjoy and even a pickleball court in town. The beds were really hard and after 4 nights I was pretty stiff.
- Alex (8/5): - The AC units needs caulk around border.
- SOBIA (10/5): - The office manager was extremely helpful. She was bery attentive
- Sandi (2/5): - I booked two rooms: one for my husband and me and another for my elderly father. His room turned out to have no heat at all—just a floor A/C unit. That first night he woke up at 3 a.m., shivering and fully dressed to keep warm. He barely slept and was exhausted for the day we had planned.
This trip was meant to be a very special vacation for my father, something we had all been looking forward to for months. Instead, this experience left a bitter taste in his mouth and made us feel awful about how poorly his stay turned out.
When I called the manager’s cell the next morning, she sounded sympathetic and assured me she would “make this right.” She eventually moved my dad to a room with heat and promised compensation for the ordeal. That was the last genuine effort we ever saw.
After checkout I followed up repeatedly. Each time I was told the “reservations manager” was handling it. A week later: silence. No refund. No credit. No return messages. Just a wall of excuses and then nothing.
A freezing room can be an honest mistake—but failing to deliver on promised compensation and ignoring multiple messages is unprofessional and unacceptable. The lack of basic accountability shows how little this property cares about its guests once they’ve been charged.
I would strongly caution anyone considering Tobermory Inn & Suites: if something goes wrong, don’t expect them to stand behind their word.
- Amadeo (4/5): - The rooms were barely clean.. we found water bottle caps under the pillows, con**m bag in the floor…
Make some effort next time..
- Isabel (8/5): - Little disappointed that there was no coffee or tea good thing i brought my coffee maker. No towel bar in bathroom, looks like it was broken and hadn't been repaired. The room did not have ant where to plug in chargers had to unplug lamps. Beds where comfy and view was nice.
- Harmanjot (10/5): - Really nice staff and well clean and tidy rooms
- Nina (10/5): - So close to the harbour!!!!!
- Hussein (10/5): - It was nice place , clean room . Staff are so friendly. We enjoyed it
- Monica (10/5): - You may want to consider investing in coffee machines for the room and an ice machine
- Kitty (10/5): - Lovely room with balcony overlooking the harbour. The room was very clean, beds were comfortable and staff responded quickly and efficiently to our requests.
Will definitely visit again in the future!
- Prinkdeep (8/5): - It was nice
- Alicja (10/5): - Erin was fantastic host! She ensured my family was comfortable and enjoyed their stay. Very personalized customer service and experience- highly recommend it!
- Olga (10/5): - It was ok
- Ankit (10/5): - Excellent property
- Manveer (10/5): - Clean room. Best location
- John (10/5): - Great setting, view of the harbour, and away from the centre of Tobermory, so cheaper. But a nice walk to the centre. Person who greeted us was genuinely friendly. Room was modern, clean and very comfortable. Smart TV.
- Kevin (10/5): - Staff on site went above and beyond for us. Nice clean fresh rooms, good restaurants within 10 min walk. Great view of the bay
- Grace (10/5): - The views of Georgian Bay is excellent.
- neil (2/5): - The room was clean but not impressive. It was over priced for what we got. I am very disappointed in our stay. Will not book there again
- Melanie (10/5): - Amazing view from balcony. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great price. Our room was newly renovated and wonderful.
- Bryan (10/5): - Loved the location. Beautiful area, very quiet. Staff very helpful.
- Nadine (8/5): - Newly renovated place in great location with nice view. We could walk to town on the boardwalk in 15 mins.
No coffee!
- Yuki (10/5): - Very clean updated motel. Great view nice balcony.
- Lisa (10/5): - Pleasant & helpful staff!! Cleanliness & great rooms for the value 👍👍
- Nina (8/5): - The air conditioning is annoying.
- Marta (6/5): - We had to wait for the room keys more than 30 minutes. We arrived at 4:30. Room check in was at 3:00 pm. No staff on site, no answer to the phone call, or text. It took more than 30 minutes for someone to arrive with the keys. Although we communicated with the staff that we will arrive at 4:30. The key was not left in the locker as the staff member instructed. Room was clean and area beautiful.
- Monica (8/5): Convenient location by the water. - Room was clean. Felt safe. Convenient location by the water. I didn't realize when booking that it was a "self-serve" place. Was hard to get more toilet paper. Parking a bit confusing. If you miss the parking area you have to drive all the way around the block due to one way streets.
- Rostislav (10/5): - Great motel a short walk from the main bay. Room was clean and had all the amenities you might need when travelling. Will definitely book again.
- arlene (4/5): - This hotel is very outdated. There is definitely no room service. There is no ice machine. Bathroom is a very small, and no ventilation. Hard to sleep at night because air conditioning is very loud. It is probably one of the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, definitely very disappointing, we wanted to go home on our first day.
- John (10/5): - The property manager Erin is very pleasant, welcoming and helpful. Our room was a good size, clean, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed for our two night stay.
- William (8/5): - It was ok.no coffee station. Missed a few things cleaning room. It was a little dated.
The view was good, not to far of a walk into town about 10 minutes.
- James (10/5): - Nice
- Cynthia (6/5): - The room is good for being close to the area q
- Ray (6/5): - The Manager Erin was great. Very help full and has good ideas to upgrade the hotel.
The current management has owned this hotel for 4? years now and their upgrades have been slow. Unfortunately our room was missing the sliding screen door, no box of tissue available, towels for 2 people not 4 in a 4 person room. The toilet was missing the solid seat cover and the cabinet with the sink could have been bigger considering the size of the bathroom. More wall outlets near the bed would be help full as there are no usb ports available. The tv was fixed to the wall in a way we could not see if it had a HDMI port so we could plug in our laptop.
- Fiona (10/5): - Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Motel was clean and a nice walk from town.
- Aubrey (8/5): - Good location close to the docks. Friendly staff and nice enough rooms for the price.
- Felicia (10/5): - Loved everything. Unfortunately there were some really loud people outside at night and early morning.
- Brian (6/5): - This property has some potential, but it is currently a work in progress.
The appearance of the room was updated nicely. However, the contractors were not competent. Door seals around the entrance were make-shift, leaving gaps where spiders and other bugs could enter. There was also an open electrical box with cut wires inside and the smoke detector was not near the ceiling.
The sliding glass door in the shower was not mounted correctly. Once I hung it properly, it didn't glide easily and the handle was coming apart. The bathroom was small and had no ventilation fan. We had to open a small window which allowed passers by to peer into the bathroom. Due to the size of the bathroom, you had to reach around behind you to get the one-ply toilet paper, likely used for septic system reasons. There was not a spare roll of paper supplied, and we had to call someone two days in a row to get a spare.
As for the room cleanliness, it was tidy and well laid out. There was a layer of dust on much of the relatively new furniture and floor. The bed linens and towels were very white, clean, and free from stains.
Finally, the television was equipped with smart features, but would only allow you to view anything if you logged in with your own account. Taking into account the minimal security in television streamers, we decided not to do so.
Overall, this property has some good potential, and they are making good efforts to update it. But some things could be better.
- Sid (10/5): - Key was left in a lock box outside of room door, with accurate ditections how to retreive it. No need to go to office at all
Excellent scenario.
- Dennis (10/5): - Love t
- Israa (10/5): - Staff was really helpful and nice
- Musharaf (10/5): - Great staff experience!
- Bill (8/5): - It was okay. Not staying there next year due to poor location
- Nishchey (10/5): - The room was nice with a great balcony view. Overall, the cleanliness was excellent. What I liked most was the smart TV — it made our stay more enjoyable as we were still able to relax and enjoy some Netflix and chill.
- Brett (6/5): - We needed a place to sleep before taking the ferry in the am. The staff was helpful with directions and parking info, although we never saw any staff members. Location is a little off the beaten path, but a 2 minute drive gets you to the docks and all the good stuff.
The suite itself was 50/50. Our room had a balcony looking over to the docks which was neat. However, room had just a bar ledge, no table to place anything. The walls and ceilings had dirt / dead bug smears on them. The bath was ill-equipped with no hooks or racks to hang up towels or travel bags. My wife stopped counting after 7 spiders needed to be dispatched.
It was a budget friendly option but next time I may spend to get come comfort.
- Kathir (8/5): - Can't complaint much about property. Great location! Receptionist was bit rude at our kids. I think it better suits for couple.
- Julie (4/5): - Did not love this property. A bit old and over priced.
- Cheri (4/5): - Very expensive for a 2* hotel.
We had no hot water for our shower, there was someone else’s reading glasses on the floor beside the bed and a ton of garbage under the beds and the mattresses were very uncomfortable.
- Aamir (6/5): - The only reason I gave a low rating is because there were cobwebs in the restroom and bugs on the room ceiling.
- Lee (10/5): - Great accommodations. Great service and friendly staff
- Darioush (6/5): - Building is too old.
Staff were helpful.
Room was too small.
- june (10/5): - Tug away in a quiet area with a water view.
- Philip (6/5): - Good location. We liked the small balcony and the room cleanliness. However, maintenance was somewhat lacking. The towel rack was ripped off the wall in the bathroom. No spare toilet paper. The floors were thin and felt rickety in and out of the rooms. One of our beds was a bit sloped to one side. Thin and loose carpets on the stairway to the upper floor. Check in procedure was a bit odd and different than explained in advance. Overall we were quite negatively surprised at what we got after paying $241 for a night. Seems far too highly priced for what is on offer. The same is true of all of Tobermory, but it seems the owners of this property are taking advantage cost-wise.
- Rasy (4/5): - it was okay, but very small for 4 guest and lots of spiders and ants in the room.. it waa scarry to sleep especially if you have small kids
- Christina (8/5): - The hotel was amazing, the only thing that I recommend is that there is a place to hang your clothes/coats, also that there should be a nightstand between the beds with a direct phone line to the office in case of an emergency, as well as an alarm clock with drawers. The rooms are very beautiful and with a very modern design and incredibly clean. With a beautiful balcony that faces the gorgeous waterfront and the balcony is very large, I do recommend for a room with 2 queen size beds like we had, so for 4 adults that there should be four chairs not just 2. Lastly the staff are absolutely amazing, they are there for you if you need them for anything. The manager Erin is probably the best manager I have ever experienced my stay in, out of all my travels and I travel alot. Thank you for our wonderful time and very pleasant stay in tobermory.
- JANE (4/5): - The owner was extremely pleasant. The view was superb.
However, it was more like a self service motel, as in if you needed bins emptying you had to take garbage to the office and get a new garbage bag. Need toilet paper? Go to the office or if nobody there, phone a number. Need fresh towels? Same deal.
The very small room had 2 queen beds. No drawers/closet to put your clothes in. Not enough surface to comfortably make coffe or food. AC so loud it was too noisy for sleep.
Bathroom. Probably 4 feet X 5 feet. Nowhere to hang anything. The toilet tank served as a place to put toiletries, with the closed lid of the toilet being another option. No fan in the bathroom. Had to leave small window open for ventilation. The window was head height…I had more than one person look in at me through the bathroom window as they walked by. No privacy. There’s no extractor fan so the window had to stay open.
I believe the basic landscaping is a work in progress.
My overall impression. 4 adults would find the smallness challenging. This motel does not provide the basic needs or appropriate facilities. The normal service and facilities we expect to find in a motel were absent. The available space and the “self service” should be reflected in the price.
Sadly, we would not recommend.
- chris (4/5): - I paid $309 a night and in the 3 nights we stayed there no one cleaned the room or brought towels !! For that price there are other options to stay at in Tobermory
- Claude (6/5): - Sheets and bedding were clean however spiders and cob webs could have been cleaned prior to our stay (inside and out). There was no storage and no hooks for towels with limited privacy on the deck. Also looked like the room door had been kicked in recently and so that should also be properly repaired.
- Ray (10/5): - Impove wifi
- Donna (6/5): - No ice, no coffee maker in room, no coffee in office, tv was not good (very hard to work, no local channels for sports.) Beds and bedding was comfy, no local info available in office, Ugly shacks outside in front of our rooms, no access to the water, no food delivery, no close restaurants. Microwave was very old, lettering coming off, fridge worked well.
- Niloufar (10/5): - Located near Tobermory Harbour
- Vasu (10/5): - Quite area close to the lake. Room was clean and well kept. Small fridge, microwave and air conditioning included. Bathroom was very clean.
- Tara (8/5): - One night stay, overall average place for one night. Entrance door, room door and sliding door in room were hard to open/close.
- Kashif (6/5): - Helpful staff. However it would have been better if the air conditioning was better and if washrooms had ventilation.
- Binitha Anna (10/5): - cleanliness
- Shokouh Pooya (10/5): - We stayed one night over the weekend in this Motel. Overall it’s a clean and convenient place, but the rate is a little high for a motel. $304 CAD per night.
- Jason Peter (10/5): - They now have reception. It was clean and quiet, still renovating but overall a good option if you are in the area. Give them a try
- Bryon (8/5): - The property must have been newly acquired or under some renovation. We had everything we needed for our stay .
- Fang (4/5): - Air conditioner is too noisy to sleep
- Gurdeep (10/5): - Its was more than perfect
- jinlong (8/5): - Ok
- Rita (8/5): - The staff was very nice and quick to respond to your needs.
- Ashutosh (8/5): - All good, having an exhaust fan in bathroom would have been nice!
