Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - THE HOTEL IS CLOSED DUE TO BANKRUPTCY - IT SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM ALL TRAVEL WEBSITES
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The place is closed and shut down for business.. I arrived and had a horrible experience. Nobody knew nothing about why they shut down.. All I know is that I want a refund.. It’s not a lot, however that’s not good business.
- laura (2/5): HOTEL CLAUSURADO - EL HOTEL SE ENCUENTRA CLAUSURADO
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Property closed for renovation and I was not informed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - ruido del restaurante y el baño parece un poco descuidado, pero en general es bueno

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Buena chiquita hotel, lompia, buena cama, y tambien bon precio,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to shopping , one block off the beach, but when your in your room it is a feeling if being tucked away. Really tranquil and peaceful.
- sandra (2/5): - Claimed I had no reservation even though I had the email also said same thing to my daughter and next day met two girls and they were told they had no reservation even with the email something is not right do not trust this place at all
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Been staying there for years and it only gets better each time!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No internet in rooms. Very noisy. No hot water. The location was great,. The roof leaked.
- patricia (6/5): - Very adequate for the price. I found it to be clean. The bed however was uncomfortable and the music from the boutique and surrounding area did not stop until two in the morning and even with earplugs I found it hard to sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In the heart of Puerto Morelos. Homey and comfortable.
- charles (8/5): pleasant stay - this ended up being a last minute choice due to other travel situations, but overall enjoyed out stay, a couple of things...location is awesome, music in neighbouring bar was a bit loud but ended about 10pm, wjfi was only available in common areas, so that was less than convienient at times ( common areas are outside and when it rained we essentially had no internet access.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bathrooms need to be closed half door no ceiling shower hesd need Repair
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It has a lively grapevine covered courtyard. Close to square, nice bar area with great wirjers
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Chambres propres et confortables. Ne vous attendez pas au style d’hôtel nord-américain. Quartes murs, un lit, une toilette et une douche. Minimaliste.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice place to rest after traveling.....convenient.
- Élisa-Maude (10/5): - Love this place, the staff is very helpful and nice but bring earplugs for thurday nights.
- Verified traveler (2/5): STAY AWAY - Worst ever in all my years of travel.Checked in w/ teenage daughter at night, and checked out next am. Had to prepay ; non-refundable(of course). Didn't resemble pics on website AT ALL. Last 2 pics show door to room which could be accessed by anyone coming in street from back. Flimsy lock can be clipped by even me. Room bug infested, and notice the huge gaps in slats on door, so can't use light as more bugs come in through them. Woke up eaten alive by bugs. Worst (can't see from pic) but it's all one room-toilet shower and beds. Mold EVERYWHERE. Half-wall next to bed WET with mold. Most disgusting room I've ever seen. Unsafe. Hotels. com: TAKE THIS HOTEL OFF YOUR website so others don't get ripped off or ill as we did. Found another hotel only a few dollars more that was lovely the next am. Had to pay 2 hotel stays for our vacation, but no way we could stay there.
- Viajero (8/5): - Hotel sencillo y agradable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Excellent location , unexpensive , good mattresses but cold shower , insects on the floor . P
- Jody (10/5): Romantic and lovely in the heart of it all - Hotel Posada Amor is a lovely decorated and quaint hotel right in the middle of the beach area of Puerto Morelos. In 30 seconds you are at the main square with children's playground and artisan's market on Friday and Saturday nights, bars and restaurants; another 30 seconds to the beach. The grapevine-covered main hall and the accent lighting in the evening is very romantic. There is a bar at the very front and the delicious Le Papillon restaurant is adjoined. Our room was located at the rear across from the free parking area and featured an outdoor dining table with gardens and accent lighting. The room was clean and had air conditioning and a cable television. There was also a coffee maker, fresh towels and toiletries. The shower water was very hot. There was a faint mildew odour upon arrival which soon dissipated once the air-conditioning and ceiling fan got the air circulating. The fan made an annoying clicking sound on one of the five speeds, but when adjusted the sound stopped. There was a mechanized on/off sound up on the roof during the night, likely from the water pump but it must have been because other tenants in the next-door rooms were having showers. The service manager Rafael speaks good English and was accommodating in providing a service for us when we wanted to send postcards but our flight was departing on Sunday morning and the post office was closed. When I return to Puerto Morelos I will stay here again.
- Susan (2/5): Avoid. - Condition of the room was bad - tiny, broken window slats, no glass window in the shower at all, dark, damp, water running constantly off the roof onto the entranceway to this room. The room itself was full of mosquitos and other tiny insects. No wifi in the room, only near the reception, outdoors. Also, a loud bar in the front that seems to be their primary business. Staff was friendly, but wouldn't switch me to another room (have no idea if one was available, but I think so). Had to take a sleeping pill to get through.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We have stayed at Posada Amor 3 times in the last 5 months and each time we get a room that was worst than the one before. The last time we stayed I reserved a room with one full and one twin. I was given a small room with one full, the toilet and shower where in the same room like and RV. The room smelled terrible and the ceiling fan was so dirty we would not turn it on. The staff is very nice and the bar attached to the hotel is wonderful. Unfortunately, we won't be staying there anymore.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Affordable, convenient, safe and clean! - The hotel has changed hands since we were last there, but it remains safe, friendly and affordable. The new owners have updated the beds and bedding, and added some nice art work and small things like art work. Also added are TV's, which we don't use.
- Wendell (6/5): Pretty, Quaint, Convenient, Mildewed - We would have loved being in this inn had it not been for the stench of mildew in the bedding. It not only interfered with our sleep, but we also know that the spores of mildew are detrimental to health.
The staff were nice, but did not go out of their way to be of service. No one told us where to contact someone in case we should need anything after they closed; and they closed very soon after we checked in.
When we asked them for restaurant recommendations, the man literally said, "Our restaurant. The one that is here." And that was all he said.
Also, no one mentioned to us before checking in that the entire city square, extending outward to our hotel and the other streets adjacent to the square, was a massive road project. The pavement and sidewalks were ripped out and men with heavy machinery were in full throttle scraping and ripping and spraying down and leveling to prepare for new pavements. Our driver who brought us in from Cancun where we had returned our rental car couldn't access our hotel. With our luggage we hiked over the destroyed road surfaces, not even sure where to find the hotel. It was amusing, really. But the hotel manager neither forewarned us nor commented on the havoc that confronted us, his guests. That is not the guest-host relationship basic human compassion requires!
- peg (6/5): Best location
Really nice staff, good rates - Loved the coziness here—very hip. Don’t expect the Hilton here—expect a great adventure right in town—great bar too
- Pierre (10/5): Affordable but nice place. - We always avoid the crowds of Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Puerto Morelos is still small enough to get a true Yucatecan experience. Posada Amor is affordable but clean, comfortable and close to all tourist infrastructure in Puerto. The staff is friendly and accomodatlng. Highly recommended.
- Mike (10/5): - A++
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent boutique hotel - Great Parking in back, Great Location and Great Wifi
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Staff! - We checked out yesterday and later my wife realized she had left her Kindle behind, went back and the staff had found it and were holding it for us. What a relief. Gracias, gracias!
- gail (8/5): charming, no-frills hotel a block from the water - my friends Patrick, Amy and i enjoyed our stay at Posada Amor, we stopped in Puerto Morelos for 1 night after being in Tulum and Valladolid for 8 days. the charming town was recommended to us since it was close to the Cancun airport and because of its charm as being a small fishing village that hasn't exploded with overbuilding. Posada Amor was perfect for our stay, we are easy going people and don't need much and it fit the bill perfectly. our rooms were air-conditioned, clean and simple. i had a room upstairs and it was quiet and had nice light. the beds were firm which i prefer. the restaurant downstairs was lovely and the courtyard was relaxing. WiFi is in the courtyard which was an inviting place to sit and check emails. there is parking in the back which was very helpful to us. i don't have anything bad to say about the place.
- kevin (8/5): Great location - Exellent location. Great staff. Maids always did terrific job cleaning room. They really need to get fridges in the room, the one big complaint of mine. Stayed 19 nights. Would stay again. Great sitting area right outside of my room. Older hotel. Wi fi was good in room i had.
- Kirk (10/5): Super duper stay. Room, Restaurant, Bar all in one - The best yet of 4 yrs running
- deb (6/5): - Very good location. Close to beach. Unfortunately the hotel is really noisy at night until 5 a.m. so sleeping is an issue.
- Kirk (10/5): Super Location & Accomodations - Fourth year to Puerto Morelos and this was our best find to date. The rooms are quaint but very comfi and adequate. The bar is an absolute blast and the adjoining restaurant offers great & delish food. The employees just plain ‘Get it’!
- Rita (8/5): Small hotel, conveniently located. - Check-in was fast, staff very helpful and
friendly. It is not a fancy hotel, but the price
is right and we had everything we needed for
a three day stay. At 6AM you wake up from the
chatter of the girls arriving for work. Otherwise
a pleasant experience, I would stay there
gain. Lots of restaurants nearby.
- Verified traveler (2/5): I did not stay there. - I did not stay at Posada Amor. I reserved a room through Expedia, but when I arrived Posada Amore told me that did not have a room. They did find me a room at another hotel, but I had to walk several blocks to the hotel. I prefer to book directly with the hotel and in the future will do so--even if a hotel is more expensive.
- Jim (6/5): Comfortable cheap place to stay - This is a small hotel right next to the town square. Very small but comfortable rooms. bathrooms could certainly use an update. Gets noisy at night as there are bars right next door.
- Erin (8/5): Adorable place! - This quant little hotel is right off the center square, 2 blocks from the ocean. Plenty of cabanas for rent at the beach so no need to pay extra for a beach front hotel. Not the most comfortable beds, but adequate for a short stay.
- Christa (8/5): Thumbs up - We enjoyed this place, it was a little bit loud but only because it is so close to nice live late music. The common space is very cool with a grape vine ceiling.
- Sarah (10/5): Great ending to trip! - Lovely stay to end a 3 week vacation to the Yucatan. Close to many amenities. Price for food at restaurant on site a little pricey even for PM. Nice bathroom, hot water and great pillows.
- Verified traveler (6/5): OK - Clean, nice staff, but the bathroom light and the television did not work. Only one bright light (like a cell or a hospital!) in the room--and internet only available near reception. It was a last-minute booking so it was fine, but I won't book it again.
- Dave (4/5): Not a nice hotel. - Not a great place for $77 Canadian. Pictures online were deceiving. I would not recommend it to anyone.
- Javo (4/5): Good location, good bar, close to beach - Paid for one queen and one twin bed and they gave me a room with one bed even though I showed my room confirmation with room description to manager. They requested an additional $20 per night for a room with two beds, which is what I had paid for in the first place.
- Phil (6/5): Great location and price. - Reservation indicated 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed, We only got a double bed and a twin in a very small room. quite crowded for the 3 of us.
- John (8/5): Behind the Bar - Nice quiet town. Hotel tucked behind small bar just half a block from charming central plaza. Parking provided but the dirt lot is a bit swampy and getting bags to room is best done from the street. Room was clean and spacious. AC and Wifi worked fine.
- Chuck (6/5): Not bad - Rooms are tiny so beware of that. It’s a no frills place. Air conditioner and shower broke after night #1. But they moved me to a new room so wasn’t a big issue. It’s humid there. So sleeping can be a challenge and also because you’re right next door to Bara Bara night club and it stays pretty loud until the wee hours of the morning. I was drunk and passed out so didn’t bother me much. Haha. Staff is friendly. The bar is a great meeting place to have drinks. But watch the prices. One day I received much better prices than on other days. Not sure why but. I would come back but I think next time I want a bit more upscale place. There’s lots to choose from in Puerto Morelos. Do your research as some include breakfast which can be a great thing.
- globetrottersue (6/5): One night only - Spent one night here at the end of a tour of the Yucatan as Puerto Morelos is close to the airport. This is the oldest hotel in PM. We had 2 rooms booked and initially these were opposite ends of the hotel. Our friends room was changed at our request (waited 30 mins for it to be thoroughly cleaned). Unfortunately the room was next to the bar/courtyard and revelry went on until 3am and our friend got little sleep due to bar noise.
Our room was clean but dated. Bed comfy but pillows not so much. Not the great sleep we wanted before the long journey home but the cold shower woke us up! No hot water at all and only a slow trickle from sink taps. Friend managed a warm shower but was unable to wash her long hair as no hairdryer and polite request not to use electrics in the room.
Staff friendly and honest - I asked to pay in MP rather than put charge on card and they took money. Next day my money was returned as Expedia had auto-taken the money.
Didn't try the restaurant and only had one drink at bar prior to leaving but noted that it looked well stocked and it is obviously popular in the evenings. The regulars must be immune to the mosquitoes as we were all bit numerous times despite using repellent. The hotel is in a jungle setting and rain overnight made us more susceptible
PM a lovely fishing village and there are a number of good restaurant. The Posada Amor - "love Inn" - is a quaint place and good for price but we will up the budget and stay elsewhere when we return.
- tom (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Very clean and comfortable, but the cable TV never worked.
- William (8/5): Cozy little Hotel. - I loved this hotel. It was very cute. It has a bar and restaurant attached,(always empty) but across the street there is an awesome one with great food The grounds for the most part were great. Some minor construction was going on but nothing disturbing. I would stay here again.
- Liam (8/5): Good for the price - Overall it was good. Room is basic and lots of mosquitoes in the garden area but it's good value and the attached bar and restaurant is nice.
- Thomas (10/5): Love this quaint little place! - The location is ideal -- just a short walk to the plaza and beachfront! We've been there twice now and though the rooms are basic (can't beat the price!), they're always clean and comfortable. The managers and staff are wonderful and friendly. This will be our hotel of choice whenever we visit Puerto Morelos!
- Michael (6/5): In love with Puerto Morelos - You get what you pay for. We probably won't stay here again, until they remodel and update. However, the staff and management were very friendly and this hotel is only minutes from the beach area and is in the heart of Puerto Morelos
- philip (10/5): Simple value and friendly. - You can't beat the price for one block from the beach.
- Charles (8/5): - Posada Amor is a nice ,simple place which is comfortable and quiet. It is handy to the local restaurants and the beach. I'll probably stay here again.
- Edward (8/5): Small intimate place with lovely courtyard - Second time staying here. It's under new ownership and they have made some nice improvements and continue to do so. The rooms are very basic but clean and efficient. Location is fantastic. One block from the beach and boats to take you out to the reef to snorkel and dive. The restaurants across the street are fantastic and there is a European style café/coffee shop on the corner.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No hot water or pressure - My room was exposed to a construction site next to a road on the back . It didn't seem secure for a single woman. The room was clean and light though
- Daniel (8/5): Very reasonable no frills hotel. - A very nice little humble hotel right off the main square in town. You can't beat the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): just a place to stay - very basic hotel in puerto morelos, right in town. Rated four stars because it was just what I needed, a bed, nothing more. Place was clean with a bar in front. Very basic but that was all I needed.
- Phil (10/5): great hotel.....$about $40.00 - about 1/2 block from town square and all restaurants. 2 blocks to beach. This is not a first class hotel, but the reasonable price, cleanliness, location, and atmosphere are great.
- suz4988 (8/5): Close to everything! - In town and only two blocks from the beach.
If you are looking for an inexpensive no frills hotel this is for you.
- Kieran (4/5): An Original Ruin. We - Very disappointed. Had to put up with construction starting at 8am, electric saws, hammers, demolishing part of the structure. Wide gap under the door that permitted insects and mosquitos to enter the room in the evening.
If you are going to stay here then bring your own showerhead as our bathroom did not have one. This is the oldest hotel in Puerto Morelos and shows it.
- sharon (2/5): Run down hotel - We were very disappointed with hotel. Location was great as it wS 2 blocks off the main square.
- Luis (10/5): - This property is very peaceful and the staff is helpful and gracious.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Maybe it was just our room, but our door was warped at the top which caused a big gap enabling mosquitoes to come right in. I could not fall asleep because they were kept bugging me amd biting. I had to stuff the gap with some shorts of mine. Woke up with a lot od bites. Just make sure your door closes amd maybe wear some repellent. Staff was great though. I'd stay here again but a different room.
- Lynda (8/5): Great Location! - The room was basic but comfortable with no hot shower. The temperature dropped at night so the fan was adequate. There was a coffee machine & enough coffee for first thing in the morning! There's a bar with great music but bring earplugs if you plan to sleep! There are places to eat & dance & the water just minutes away.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Rave club next door - It's 345 am and the neighbour property is apparently a rave nightclub. Unbelievable. The base is shaking my bed literally. And literally the club is attached. Other hotel guests are awake wondering what's goin on too. Nice place overall but if you are looking to sleep forget it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming Little Inn. - Right in the heart of town, a block from the beach and steps way from great dining. The hotel bar created some noise in the early evening, but not a problem for sleeping. The manager spoke excellent English and was very accommodating. When a problem with the electricity cause the A/C to not work well the last night, another room was given. Parking was easy. Water pressure was a little weaker than is common in the US. Soap and shampoo are provided. If you use other toiletries, you should bring or buy them. Convenience stores are close by. Property was easy to find from Cancun airport.
- Don (10/5): An amazing place....but please don't tell anyone! - Understand our 5 rating. It is a simple "Mexican" hotel. If you normally stay at The Ritz or JW Marriott, this is NOT for you. But if you want a very basic, simple, clean and friendly place, you will feel right at home. I don't think you can get a bad meal anywhere in town. Great steaks at Al Chimicuri right across the street. Italian 100 feet south cooked by an Italian chef. Best fish tacos right off the NE corner of the square. Warmest people you will ever meet. Genuinely wonderful people everywhere we turned. Not happy here? Then THAT is on YOU!
- marijke (8/5): Close to everything! - It's a hotel with some charm but needs updating.
There are both in the front and the back nice places where one could sit, but there are no chairs/lounges.
As of now there is no restaurant but they are working on it, in addition to the existing bar.
Only a short walk from the beach.
The staff are very pleasant, helpful and hard working people.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good choice - Completely friendly, clean hotel. It was definitely HOT-even with a fan. The bar was very loud until 11 or 12. Great spot in a cute little town that is growing!
- Carlos (6/5): - Just one night but friendly people clean surroundings and in the center of town
- Charles (6/5): - Nice small town feel, good restaurants, beach close by--lots of good music in the square evenings, and good arts & crafts. Waaay nicer than big developed hotel scene.
- Jerry (8/5): Quaint little hotel in "downtown" Puerto Morelos. - Late check-in was a breeze. The staff, from the bartenders (who were awesome, by the way!) to the owners were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were immaculately clean. Do note, however, that these are basic accommodations and definitely nothing fancy. The air conditioning was fantastic! The location is great--very convenient to the beach, restaurants and bars. No need for a car. The only downside is the noise from the band and bar after 9:00 p.m. As we arrived late and had to get up early, we weren't big fans. On the upside, the band sounded good and the bar scene was probably fun. If you want to avoid some of the noise, ask for a room at the back. We stayed in the back on our second visit and it was much quieter.
- Brenda (6/5): Good value! - Cute little hotel right in the centre of Puerto Morelos. Close to everything. Live music on the weekends means you don't want to try to sleep before 11:30pm or so but other than that lots of character!
- Jose (10/5): - Awesome stay, Lorena at the reception made us feel at home. Lorena was very attentive and informative. This is my fourth time staying there very clean and cold a/c. Will recommend it to anyone on a budget.
- go heels (4/5): Very noisy room - The room we had was very noisy owing to a bar that is at the entrance to the hotel. We had a terrible time sleeping until 1 am or later even during the week. We stayed 2 nights and left for arrecifes suites that are wonderful.
- Kim de Kanada (8/5): downtown Puerto Morelos economy hotel - This is a modest hotel/Inn that suits people travelling on a budget. Centrally located, just minutes from everything needed in PM, it is fine for an overnight or several days. The staff are efficient, and management friendly. English spoken. Can be noisy on weekends at night due to the entertainment. Very accommodating, versatile and low-key.
- robin (8/5): Gracious Hosts - We stayed at the Posada Amor for 6 nights. The staff was extremely friendly and our dos camas room was impecably cleaned. on the weekend nights.near-by music was lively.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice old hotel - Old hotel. Lots of charactor. Rooms very noisy. Not particularly good for light sleepers.
- Travelinguy (8/5): CASH only & restaurant gone - Very nice staff, clean room, wifi only within about 10 feet of office, not in rooms as stated. Very convenient location. Very disappointed couldn't use credit card when checking out, even though Expedia shows Master Card logo. Picture showing restaurant needs updating; restaurant closed. Erratic water temperature and pressure.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location, cute hotel, great margaritas!
- Anthony (6/5): Puerto Morelos I love you - Pretty bare bones. If you can roll with that you're cool. People are amazing. Little bar is awesome. Accomodations a bit rough, but a very great experience overall!
- David (8/5): Great staff, cheap rooms, muy buena onda! - Everybody at Posada Amor was so helpful, generous and nice. The small hotel is one of the oldest in the village, is cheap and comfortable, and located 3 minutes away from the beach and next to one of the best restaurant in town (Parilla uruguaya) and a busy club (Bara Bara). Great option.
- Verified traveler (4/5): 1st time to Puerto Morelas - Difficult to figure out where to start. Well here goes, when we 1st arrived at the "hotel" for our much anticipated first time in Mexico trip we were kind of shocked. The manager met us and informed us that due to recent heavy rains she was limited in the availability of rooms. She offered us room #4 for my wife and I, well what could we do we knew nothing of the area but what we had read online so we took the room. Upon inspection we became more aware of what we had gotten into. First the beds, concrete slabs with a mattress on top. The "bath", oh the "bath", a shower with a shell for the shower head (not really effective). The doors were what we in the states would call "storm doors" just a thin metal door. The furnishings consisted of a table with 2 chairs, which were quite heavy and a shelf unit. AC was a window unit which needed to run continuously due to the humidity in the room but which mysteriously was turned off whenever we left the room. Back to the bath, the lavatory with no hot water faucet and a small mirror over it accented by a low wattage light fixture which made shaving for me and makeup application for my wife extremely difficult. And i shouldn't forget to mention the fact that they don't accept credit cards for payment, cash only which we only learned as we waited for the van on our last day.
- Barbi (10/5): Amazing little hotel in Puerto Morales! - The charm and friendliness we received at Hotel Posada Amor rivals all others for our week in Mexico! The charm engulfs you as you walk thru the grapevines above to the registration where they called me by my name! Our room had double beds and was clean and crisp! We only stayed one night there, but we came back almost every night to have THE BEST margarita in town! I met people from all over the world staying there for a night or two before moving on. The experience there was nothing but delightful! I highly recommend staying there for a night or two in your Mexican travels!
