Guest Reviews
- Bubblesrgood (6/5): Clean hotel but very basic and restaurant average - We needed somewhere to stay while driving through the Port Dixon area and found the Klana Beach Resort. There was plenty of parking outside despite the resort being very busy. The reception was very helpful and we had a room on the top floor. The room was clean but very basic and a view out to sea. A large comfortable double bed with pictures of the night sky above.
Opposite the hotel is an observatory. Unfortunately it was closed for renovation while we were there,
The restaurant was designed to cater for domestic local palettes rather than our western style (example we found everything too fishy for our tastes). So I write this with an advisory that many people may like the food more than I did but it would not alter my score as the restaurant was basic canteen style and designed at a conference or group trade.
We were looked after, the place was clean but was basic and the food and restaurant not to our particular liking so we would not stay again unfortunatkly.
- Tourist01335069902 (6/5): Room condition - Generally the room is clean.
The issues here are the aircon not working properly. Make noises at night.
Flushing system is terrible. Cannot use. Bad maintenance. Please do something about the room condition.
The staff is friendly and accomodative. I ask for a room near the lift, my request was met.
- Happiness31720368482 (4/5): This is a haunted hotel - I was haunted by ghosts and there was a headless man. the paintings changed and the toilet light were flickering and object fell over and somebody was watching us pee people heard scratching and banging on the doors
- NUR NADIRA (6/5): - I booked for queen bed but i got double single bed.
- Ngung Chia (8/5): Poor services but impressive exterior - Exterior is impressive. Room is spacious and well maintained but dated. Walk to beach not possible when high tide. Location a bit off pitch and own vehicle necessary.
Services are unique and need improvement.
Example 1 - For double room, provided 2 set of toothbrushes and toothpastes BUT provided only one set of toiletries (1 shower cap, 1 shampoo and 1 bath). Not sure how to share these between 2 person. Need to pay extra for another set.
Example 2 - Breakfast variety limited. More local and Muslim orientated. No ham, bacon, etc. Starts 7 am but most food gone by 8 am. Very slow to refill.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great - Great
- Anja (6/5): - The rooms are really old and would need renovation. No sunbeds at the pool. Only breakfast for Malaysians, no international offer. Very nice and helpful kitchen chef. Good value dinner.
- SAIFUL ANUAR (8/5): Best - Good hotel. Syariah compliance..
- Nick (8/5): - Environment is nice, surrounding with seaside. Breakfast is nice
- Umi Kalsom (10/5): overall is excellent!👍 - Im not sure who he is,maybe duty manager. He is really helpful. From the time we checked in till next morning while we had our breakfast @ cafe, he is there. The front desk is ok but need to improve some more especially on which customer u need to prioritize, like citizen,on wheelchair, pregnant women @ women with baby. The housekeeping makcik is really lovely. Tqvm.
- mmuazhiim (8/5): A nice small hotel - Although the rooms are simple but i appreciate this hotel location. The staff are helpfull and im surprised that this hotel food way lot nicer than most hotel in PD. Visitor can watch beautiful sunset from this hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Weekend trip to PD - Been many years since last trip to Port Dickson. Wanted a reasonable beach hotel for overnight stay. Klana Beach Resort was quite a good choice as it had privacy! It has swimming pools albeit segregated pools, and if you wanted to swim in the sea, it was just down the stairs, past the little rocky bits and you have clear water to swim in. Overall good hotel for short trips.
- AdiFarhann (10/5): Excellent - One of the great experience i have had in this resort in PD. Good parking space, spacious swimming pool area and good access to the beach. Got an Observatory besides the hotel. Calm and humble place to stay.
- halimran7 (6/5): The picture with pool and hotel is misleading as you need to cross a parking space - Went there for an office event. The front desk was responsive but could be friendlier as we need to ask for certain thing to get the info liked where's the breakfast going to be, where's our event being held. The lobby has some telescopes and pictures of night skies for decoration purposes but didn't really lift the mood.
Hallway towards the room was also decorated with the pictures of night skies but looks dated. The room tried to reflect the feel of observatory which is just across the hotel building but somehow looked like any ordinary hotel room with some space decoration. Other electrical appliances in the room are working. Tv channels were limited to mostly local.
Breakfast buffet is kinda limited too. Two main dishes like nasi lemak and some other nasi or fried mee. Continental breakfast menu is available too. The hotel has a pool area but you need to cross the parking area. It's nearer to the observatory compare to the hotel. The beach is accessible during low tide in the morning but there's like a pipe you need to pass to get to the main beach.
Shops & restaurants are kinda far from the hotel so driving is advisable. There's a very small night market organised by the hotel's restaurant on Saturday' night. The observatory too will put a telescope out for public to view the moon for free but they didn't explain much. You can visit the observatory' huge telescope too at designated time but it is accessible by stairs only as far as I know. It is chargeable for non guest but during my visit there, there's no explanation too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Secure and secluded. Very peaceful.
- JonathanChong (8/5): - The place is quite nice, our second time staying at Klana Beach Resort. The room have a safe and mini fridge, that what we like.
- JonathanChong (8/5): - Overall is very satisfied 1 night stayed in the resort, the room is clean and the amenities are satisfying. The unique about the resort is, there a "Balai Cerap Telok Kemang" just opposite the resort.
At night we can get a "pass" from the resort and went in to see the stars. It is an astronomy centre.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - kolam yang berasingan untuk lelaki dan wanita
- FizaHussein (8/5): Good for family with kids. - Since this trip we bring our niece & nephew. Love the huge swimming pool. Even though its a school holiday with lots of people still we are having fun at the swimming pool.
While for the room. Its a new refurbish and spacious. Breakfast buffet with variety of spread.
- HRS_6 (8/5): Good observatory - It is satifactory for me, toothbrush was provided, not as some reviewer wrote. Prayer robe/telekung and kain pelekat were also provided. We brought and ate our food at welcoming place outside restaurant using the hotel,s plate, fork and spoons. The telescope there was one of the best in Malaysia.
- Yat (8/5): - Overall good.only during check in took time as only 1 counter opened for check in.
- Khairunnisa (8/5): - Envoirement different with other hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Suasana hotel ok, bilik bersih, kolam mandi agak kecil tetapi sesuai utk keluarga.
Iklan gerai dibuka jam 6pm, tetapi jam 7pm masih belum bersedia sepenuhnya..
- Ummuaisya (2/5): Should improve service - This is my 2nd time here previous was in 2016 but the service was different (it was excellent).Receptionists weren’t friendly, room service was dissapointing.Ordered food for 3 but received only 2.It took 1 hour for food to be ready (during non peak hour) and the staff did not apologize for late and incomplete orders.I came here to support muslim company but this is so frustrating.Room condition was so-so and had weird odour. With the price i paid i think it wasnt worth it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable - The room is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the hotel near convenience stores and small eateries. The view of the moon and Jupiter through the hotel's telescope is a pleasant surprise.
- oktray (8/5): Nice resort - Stayed 1 night at level 3 triple room overlooking the open sea. Resort staff were friendly and breakfast spread was decent. My kids enjoyed the giant whale slide at the swimming pool area! Location is near the ostrich farm.
- Jonathan (10/5): - The staff are all very helpful with genuine smiles. The swimming pool is great and it's in front of the beach to have a good walk and relax. It was a great experience and I highly recommend the place. Their price is reasonable too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Best Sunset we experience so far.
Facilities are clean
Good value for money.
- adawiah81 (6/5): Relaxing stay, but have pro n cons - Hotel entrance is warm and welcoming. They have receptionist with tudung.
We were given a room facing an old bungalow. it looks like a ghost house. The room when we entered smells bad with cigaretts smoke and toilet was so so.There should be some improvement.
As i have a OKU husband,he accidentally make the towel fell on the floor. According to the reception, RM5 willl be charged for the additional towel. I was actually request for a replacement okayyy.
I am so unsatisfied for this. I'm not being stingy but what is good service meant for a hotel when towel replacement is to be charged though they have tonnes of towels.
My kids love the pool. The amenities at the pool side are good and clean.
Though the hotel is just beside the Baitulhilal, Pusat Cerap Teluk Kemang, the shore is not swimmable because there are lots of rocks and the shore not safe to be combed through. However the ocean view and sea breeze are superb.
Food served during breakfast are so so. Just normal local meals and some cereals/cut fruits. Nothing much to boast. But the cafe is clean.
I think we will not make a return visit unless i find a better reason.
- jenjalankami (10/5): Romantic Getaway With Family - We came as a couple with a toddler on tow. The romantic arrangement was magnificent! Our room was beautifully decorated, candle light dinner went well, and pasma dinner offers variety of food, while giving back to the needy.
And we get to see Mars at night! 😍
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Close to beach but rocky area. Have to take steep steps to the beach.
Breakfast was so so, good spread but lacking the taste. Ample parking.
- thesojourningseahs (6/5): Decent resort, but no beach! - Stayed at the resort for 2D1N during my family trip to PD. My experience can be summarised as below:
What's impressive:
- Good location at the quieter section of PD at Teluk Kemang.
- The biggest plus point of the resort is guests get complimentary access to the observatory centre which is just opposite the resort and on a clear day and if the timing is right, you get to see saturn, mars and other planets over their huge telescope. (Opens daily 10:30pm - 12:00am)
What to expect:
- Guests will have to dress up properly moving in and out of the resort (Note: It's a muslim theme resort so proper attire and basic decency required)
- There are outdoor pools with separated male and female pools. There's a children pool with a nice little slide.
- Room comes with basic amenities such as kettle, TV, towels and shampoo. No toothbrush, so bring your own. No in-room safety box too.
- There's an in-house restaurant serving local and international food which opens till about 11pm.
- Complimentary WiFi provided by relatively slow downlink / uplink speed.
- It's a fair drive out if you wish to get food outside.
What can be improved:
- Walls are thin, can hear noises from next door and also along the walkway.
- Breakfast tasted OK but could improve and if you drop in after 9:30am, you'll probably have limited choices.
Final Verdict:
- Decent but if you want a resort with beach, you may want to look elsewhere.
- But if you are someone who's interested in astronomy, this is probably one unique resort that you want to explore. Having said that you can still come as private guest to visit the observatory by paying the access fee without needing to stay in the resort.
- Mr (10/5): - Nice hotel with nice surrounding
- PQCHAN (4/5): Dissapointed - In general the hotel is quite run down and rooms not that clean.
Very poor WiFi in the room as it keeps dropping off. Was told by receptionist to just change username but this did not work as had to set up new account with different email and difeerent cell phone number.
Breakfast is good with many choices
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good value for money
- Jacob (10/5): - Old hotel but still in good condition. One of the most comfortable in our travel list
- Trek56689076233 (10/5): Nice and clean hotel - Went there last month with my family. The resort overall is nice, great location, clean room and the staff are friendly. We also get to go to the observation tower which is only 10 meters away from the hotel. Great experience!
- ALICIA (10/5): - Too short to recommend but location great.
- shuhairi (10/5): Good trip-Value for money - -Very nice place to stay
-not too crowded
-separated pool for kids/women/men
-near beach-walking distance
-good view-high ground
- Edders88 (8/5): Nice hotel - sea view without a beach! - Generally, this is a nice hotel. It has an observatory where hotel guests can actually visit and when I was there, I had the chance to look at planet Saturn using the telescope. The staffs at the observatory were helpful and friendly as well and you can see that they work with passion. Coming back to the hotel room, it is a normal sized room, price for this place is not exactly cheap. However, the basic necessities are there such as soap, shampoo, beverages, drinking water and etc. The swimming pool is rather small and they do have a 'ladies only' pool. Kids pool is quite nice with a nice slide. Great view from the top but, sadly, this hotel doesn't have any beach. On a happier note, there is a walkway down close to the sea and then up again to the hotel but, it is quite public where non hotel guests can enter as well. Breakfast was good when I was there because there were a large amount of guests staying.
- marilyne2375 (2/5): needs loads of improvement - no beach at all, everything extra like soap, towels or bottled water is charged. the carpet in the room was dusty and dirty. the pool was dirty as well. limited choice for breakfast and the food didn't really taste that good. the only saving grace was that the staff at the reception were friendly and helpful. the lift was not working for a while so we had to take the stairs which to our horror was clogged up with stuff making it a fire hazard. there was even a cat walking around the coffee house during breakfast. walls are very thin so it can get a bit noisy
- aziziazmin (8/5): Great hotel with bad beaches - The first thing that came into your mind when you decide to go to PD is them beaches.. Yes, beaches..all those beaches. But staying at Klana Beach Resort, I'm sorry to dissapoint you, them beaches are bad ones. Its very rocky and not suitable for you to swim there. Them beaches gets realllly dirty when the tide rise. You dont want to step your foot there, unless.... if youre into long exposure beach photography. Those rocks and wave combo photo can be very mesmerizing if you know how to snap ones. But if you really2 want to swim and relax, just drove for couple of minutes and to where the real action is..Teluk Kemang Beach.
Having said all that, the best attraction this hotel offer is the observatory. By far, the best experience you will get here. Opens at night (1030PM - 1200MN), you'll get to catch real time glimpse of planets in our solar system (minus Pluto of course). Really informative. Hotel guests (2 pax) gets to view FOC (IINM, since I came under a government package) and additional RM10 per pax. Non-hotel guests, I think should be pricier (sorry cant recall how much tho,RM100+ maybe. I got many people giving different values for that..dont know who is right). Weekends should be very busy with people here, so plan yourself if you want to be here.
Rooms are nice and modern. Amenities are quite enough for your whole stay, except for toothbrush! The hotel provides you with things you dont really use that much (cotton buds, shower caps!- I meant, who uses shower caps anyway?? I dont). But you will need to brush your teeth man! So, Pleaseeee... provide toothbrush as well.. This message if not only meant for Klana Beach, but other hotels as well.. I've been to much cheaper budget hotels and they provide the RIGHT amenities..that's right.. toothbrush is one of them. Shower caps, cotton buds...you dont really need that.
Food- breakfast and lunch is ok, quite a lot of menus. We had an opportunity to have our department's BBQ dinner and boy I think the food selection is numerous! We were unable to finish all those food.. Pity.. there were like 70-80 of us including family members.
Sleep quality is good here as the hotel is quite far from the main road and traffic.
- Jang (10/5): - Very recomended. Good hotel n nice view. I hope 1 day i will come here again
- altarisma (8/5): - nice and comfortable ... good facility ... beautifull sea view from my room ..
- VthyaK (6/5): Could be better, need lots of improvements - Was there for three days and two nights during Raya time. Somewhat overpriced, mb coz its peak season, room that we paid for came up to rm672, plus extra surcharges for pillows and towels, first time ever kena surcharge like this. Like AirAsia concept but price is not very cheap. Very bad experience occured during their breakfast buffet, they didnt label one of the food, ended up eating beef serunding.. i brought it up to the management and they were very apologetic. he offered free lunch, but i didnt take it...coz not my intention to get compensated but was rather upset they didnt acknowledge we live in multiracial society and hence food such as beef and pork has to be clearly spelt out coz we dont want ppl of different religion consume it. Now, imagine if roles were reversed, and instead of beef , its pork, Im pretty sure one whole committee would be sent to check apa lagi yang haram kat hotel itu laaa... very nice view and access to beach and of coz their highlight is their observatory. overall, right now in PD, this is definitely better than most of the other places. still clean coz its still new.....
- Rweannara (6/5): Beautiful view Good for family with kids - It’s good enough for a night stay with nice location overlooking a beautiful scenery. Hotel is a bit old but comfortable bed, clean room and toilet. Enough parking space. Breakfast is all right. Value for the money
- Asma (8/5): Nice hotel sea view - This is my first time being here. room are more to islamic that make me very like it . very comfortable. And a view very nice.
- HLChin (10/5): Peaceful Environment Hotel. - Nice hotel if you would like to experience some spectacular sky planet n star seeing. Huge telescope are available for viewing 3pm-5pm (Sun) & 1030- 12am (Star n Moon). Do make arrangements with reception before that. Other than that, staff are friendly n if u need help, are always there.
- Shuvra (8/5): Very nice for family trip. - The location was fabulous. Trip with family members is recommended. Peace and Calm.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - staff polite and helpful
- ameera (10/5): nice hotel - a bit frustrated at first as they said we can check in at 3 but it was a bit delay as the room are not clean yet but the staff offer us a complimentary coffee. overall it was a nice trip and looking forward for another vacation at klana hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and clean hotel - Stayed for 2 nights with family. Enjoyed stay and front office staff very courteous and helpful. Room also very clean and cosy.
- Mohd Shahril (8/5): great place to stay - the stay was nice
- Annie (8/5): - Good for a short stay. Breakfast is good. More variety of salad if possible.
- Asrin Yusairi (8/5): A nice hideout with a view - I would say... a comfortable stay... but you will need to have transport.
- anne (6/5): - Its a quiet place to stay.. as it is further away from the crowd.
- Verified traveler (6/5): An O-K hotel - Overall, hotel is ok. Staff are ok. Room is ok. Facilities are ok.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I would not recommend to others at this hotel because of i would not satisfied with the services. Tq
- mimiazin (8/5): Clean hotel - Fast check in, friendly hotel staff. Clean room, complete with iron, ironing board, hair dryer, praying mat, "telekung". separate pool for male & female. My kids love it. Complimentary breakfast, food was nice.
- Mohd Faridzul (10/5): Nice view and Good breakfast - Amazing stay. This is my 2nd stay and love the breakfast.
- Farah Delaila (8/5): Great hotel for short escape - i definitely will come backj and recommend this hotel to my friends.
- shah (10/5): Nice hotel near to the beach. - The buffet for breakfast was marvellous and superb.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Second time staying and still love it - Excellent staff. Friendly and helpful. Food was great. The observatory add a special twist to
Your stay.
- Ashok (8/5): - Pleasant Hotel. Good value for money. Rooms are good.
- Francis (8/5): Nice hotel condition. - Klana Beach Resort is a nice hotel to stay if you plan trip to Port Dickson. It location is not too far from city and condition and cleanliness of room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel near to beach - Smooth check-in and the hotel is very close to the beach.
- Nizam (8/5): Very clean hotel - Nice location which just walking distance to beach. Comfortable room. But the food need to improve
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good and we are very pleased that the Hotel upgraded us to deluxe room.Lovely surprise! The breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. It was an added bonus that we had the chance to sight the moon and jupiter!I would say the environment was pleasant, clean and quiet. A good hotel to rest and relax with the beach so nearby.
- Fatimah (8/5): EXPLORING THE UNIVERSE! - The most unique thing for this hotel is that there is Telok Kemang Obversatory located within the hotel compound where the hotel guests are able to enter into it for free. This is the first time ever I entered an observatory and I was very excited. I believe they are still lots of Malaysians haven't enter into an observatory, this shall be your next destination!
