Guest Reviews
- Lynette (8/5): Cool little place - Cool little place to stay. A little pricey for what you get. Room's are very small but super clean and recently renovated. Nice bar/restaurant downstairs.
- Charlie (8/5): - A unique, old school, cozy inn with rooms above the active bar/restaurant. Everything quieted down around 10 for a restful nights sleep. I’d definitely do again
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Mateo (10/5): - We got in, and the staff efficiently checked us in gave us keys and directed us to our roomn It was clean, towels neatly folded and verg hospitable.
Staff is really friendly, and can let you know all the cool things to do around here. 50 minutes to Traverse City, or Leland make it a great spot to stop before a trip to the Manitou Islands.
- Stephen (6/5): - Room was clean but needed some repairs. Electrical outlet behind bed was broken. Light switch in bathroom was not working and sink drain was slow. However bed was comfortable, but just not what we expected for what we paid.
- Joyce (10/5): - It was clean and quiet and worked for us.
- Marshall (10/5): - Perfect little town! Came for a quick weekend getaway. Love the walkable downtown with its taverns and restaurants. Cold Creek Inn and Restaurant Staff are the best! Thanks for a cool weekend!
- Ruth (10/5): One night stay blessing - It was difficult finding a reservation at "the last minute", for a one night stay at the height of summer in a tourist area. Our room was very comfortable in the size and cleanliness. We slept well in our three queen beds. We had dinner at Cold Creek Inn, too. the food was very tasty and the portions were sizable. We sat on the patio, enjoyed the fine weather and view of the charming town and activity.
- Patrick (4/5): - Room very small, no chair, no desk top/table. Advertising Should mention limited access for folks with mobility issues (stairway only access to second floor).
- Trevor (10/5): - Love staying here. Unique experience. Clean room.
- Scott (10/5): - The owners are great! You check-in at the bar in the downstairs restaurant. The rooms are clean and comfy. The perch dinner is incredible and you’re walking distance to the water on Crystal Lake and a few other bars and restaurants. Perfect Up North accommodations
- Virginia (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately some of my to-go nachos were glued to the foil under them. I enjoyed the rest though.
- James (8/5): - This is a quaint little inn, very clean, well appointed, and conveniently located. They had guest wifi, and Keureg style coffee in the common area, with single serve brewers in the rooms. No breakfast on site but within walking distance from several places.
The restaurant opened for dinner, and was a bar/tavern/grill.
The down side was the price quoted from expedia was a cash price, we paid with card on site, and there was a 4% (I think) surcharge undisclosed fee added for the card use, so the Expedia price was not accurate.
The guest rooms are on the second floor with no elevator, so access from the front is up a full flight of narrow stairs, and from the parking lot it was up almost 2 flights from ground, also not overly wide. No handicap access was noted.
I woyld stay there again, my wife, however, would not.
- Patricia (10/5): - It took someone to come and work the air conditioning. The windows wouldn’t It open. 85 * hot. It I went out to dinner and it was cooling off when I got back
- James (4/5): - Very expensive for the quality of the experience. Very small room; super loud air conditioning.
- Nancy (10/5): - Very clean, comfy bed, and within walking distance to the lake.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - The room was clean, comfortable. Great location. Good price.
- Robert (10/5): - Loved it. Very clean and beds were very comfortable.
- Eileen (10/5): - We were greeted as a welcome guest. Our room was above their dining area; which they offered to visit for great food. Our room was cozy and comfortable. We walked aroud the community and enjoyed the charm. We returned to the hotel for food and drinks. The food was great! Our stay was wonderful. We would stay again.
- Natalya (8/5): - We love this cute Inn, try to stay here every our visit - Sleeping bear Dunes! Friendly caring staff! Room is small but very clean and bright white. AC, fridge, table with 2 chairs, one night stand ( wish there were 2 - on each side of the bed with the plugs!), fancy coffee machine at the lobby. Great view from all 3 room windows. Plenty of parking space on rear! And Cold creek running right behind the building! We could dine right here at the lounge! I love my Perch Dinner fancy and very delicious. Short walk takes you to Crystal lake with breathtaking view especially when sun goes down. Great Five shores brewery right across. And short drive to Frankfort and Traverse City and other good places around!
Highly recommend
- Mary (8/5): - The cleanliness of a establishment is #1 in where I stay. You couldn't even find dust on the floors heater vents it was SO IMMACULATE.
The food on property was great, but unfortunately for the customer, if you're not a local you do not get attentive service one comes to expect in a dinning experience.
There are ALOT of stairs so if you're unable to climb consistent for two flights- I would definitely find something elsewhere.
We met a local Motorcycle driver (Bud) that just had a birthday and turned 99 while we were visiting and for us, that was one of highlights of this great vacation to Beulah, Mi.
Over ALL, I give The Cold Creek Inn 8 1/2 ☆'s
- David (6/5): - This is an old hotel above a restraint. During the winter, it's limited services. The day of our arrival, we we're called and informed our key would be taped to and outside door. Once we arrive, we found that we had to come up a flight of snow covered outside stairs. Apun entering the building we had to carry our luggage up a second flight of stairs and then a third flight of stairs in our room. The room I selected had three beds and we liked that part. But, getting to it was a lot of work. Would not book again.
- Jennifer (6/5): - You have to check-in inside the bar. You then have to park in the back, but because the parking lot immediately behind is full of bar patrons, you must park across the road and walk across the metal bridge, that had not been shoveled or salted. Then you climb the outside stairs that had been shoveled but not salted and were very slippery. My husband slipped. The bed was smaller than a queen but was very comfortable, and the walls are thin. Also, keep in mind that you are upstairs of a bar.
- Savannah (10/5): - Skiied at crystal mountain - close to there, very clean and quiet. Would recommend
- Tasha (10/5): - Great hotel with a wonderful restaurant.
- Cathie (8/5): - Very clean rooms and quiet environment considering the rooms are above a bar and restaurant
Bedding high quality
- Dennis (10/5): - The property was close to what we were doing very convenient.
- Michael (4/5): Just a night to stay. - Just needed a night for a stay.
- terry (8/5): - Not thrilled with the room locks. Door doesn't lock automatically when closed as in most hotels.
- Brian (10/5): - I really liked the room. It was perfect for a quick trip to the Sleeping Bear Dunes marathon. Staff was very accommodating.
- FNU (10/5): - First rate assistance from property owner, great restaurant and bar, a block from the lake. Beautiful.
- Mike (10/5): - Cute little Inn with a great bar/lounge. The food there was great as well. Highly recommend this place as you travel northern Michigan.
- Rose (8/5): - Thank you for a great stay!
- Liam (10/5): - Amazing spot with cool people and great vibes
- Daniel (8/5): - Simple room, clean and comfortable. Checked in very late so the staff left a key in an envelope for us.
- Christopher (10/5): Very clean rooms and cold beer - The staff was great, very friendly. The food was delicious, huge portions. Best of all cold beer. Check out the fish in the tiny creek.
- Andrew (10/5): - Quaint family owned lounge, restaurant and inn. Super friendly staff, excellent food, beer and mixed drink selections. Great price for the whole package. Will stay again the next time we're in the area.
- Kelly (10/5): - Don't let the looks of this property from the outside concern you. The inside is very quaint and clean. We read the reviews about the rooms being small and needing to check in with the bartender and took a chance and stayed anyway. We are glad we did.
It is a 100 year old lodge, restaurant and lounge.
Our room was small and cozy, but very clean. We slept very well. Not noisy. Staff we great. Location was great and we enjoyed walking around the small town and by the lake.
Only concern was keys were sticking in the locks as they had just gotten some new ones made, but they were working on this.
No designated parking for the motel. You can park in public parking or on the street. We parked on street and did not have any issues.
Take a chance and experience a little history!
- Debbie (10/5): - This was a quaint little spot! The lodging is above the restaurant but you aren’t bothered by noise from there!
The room was small but the bathroom was a good size! The small room was not an inconvenience for us at all!
Over all it was a good experience!
- Carol (10/5): - Very nice public beach within walking distance.
- Myrna (8/5): - My husband and I stayed one night and had dinner. The check-in was awkward because we parked behind and weren’t sure where to enter. The bartender checked us in at the bar. There isn’t an elevator. The room had the basics and was small, but clean. Weak Wi-Fi. Nice, hot shower! The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We recommend the perch. The owner stopped by our table and chatted for a bit. We enjoyed our stay.
- Daniel (6/5): - It was very noisy a diesel tractor behind the building.. The staff was very nice, but the room was really small for the price. I don’t care for surveys. If you want to give me a refund it was very expensive for the size. Anyhow, I usually don’t complain, but I don’t care for surveys.
- Kurt (10/5): - Staff were super helpful
- Christian (8/5): - Its a nice place to stay food close by and a good sleep for a salmon fishing trip
- Robert (6/5): - Overbooked
Worked out issues
Didn’t need hassle
Seemed as if booking through Expedia was the decision to bump us ?
Property “found” a room after offering a room at a sister property 3 miles away sight unseen
- Timothy (8/5): Nice Inn, great staff, great location - Cold Creek Inn was very nice, excellent staff, a great choice for a fairly basic hotel stay in a great location. It was a perfect base for our fall northern tour, will definitely consider them for future trips.
- Tasha (10/5): - Hotel and restaurant are amazing. Room was very clean and restaurant food was out of this world.
- CYNTHIA (10/5): - super clean and staff were very friendly, definitely would stay again
- Michael (10/5): - Loved the small quaint town and hotel. Their restaurant is great with amazing food. Their perch is by far is the best around.
- Lisa (10/5): - Perfect spot in town above the bar but also incredibly quiet even when it's busy down there. Friendly staff, clean room, basic amenities. Would totally stay here again. Oh and the restaurant downstairs has a great menu for dinner. Wish they were open for breakfast, but a pleasant walk down the block to Ursa Minor provided great coffee and delicious healthy breakfast.
- Amy (2/5): - Rooms very small. Staff unavailable. Lots of stairs. Had to go down the street for coffee
- Dan (8/5): - Clean and tidy rooms. Pleasant stay. Quiet and slept well. Nice location. Would stay again.
- Don (8/5): - Very unique place. Loved the room. The guy that checked us in was fun to talk to and very easy to deal with. Very quiet place.
- Shirley (10/5): - Staff awesome location, had a bar , and grill food awesome
- Art (8/5): Very helpful staff - Very Helpful staff, cool place, great location
- John (10/5): - Loved the nastalgic feel and coziness of the hotel rooms. The food was great and the staff was very kind. We already booked a week next year!
- Howard (8/5): - The room was very very very small
- Greg (10/5): - We loved how close this property was to the cute shops and really good restaurants.
- helen (10/5): - Great stay. Convenient to area attractions.
- Charles (10/5): - We accidentally ended up at Crystal Lake Resort instead of Cold Creek Inn, but the owners of both motels were so accommodating and gave us a room at CLR in spite of our error.
Very comfortable, clean, and overall pleasant place to stay!!!
- Roger (8/5): - Clean and in the heart of Beulah. Great spot when visiting
- Kathy (10/5): - We have stayed here many times and it used to be about 175.00 for the night, now it’s 254.00 a night for a queens size bed and a window view of a roof check out time was 10:00amThe room was small but very clean and the bed was comfortable
- William G (6/5): It could be better - I gave the inn a neutral rating because the good and bad basically canceled each other out.
Checking in was no problem. The person I dealt with was very friendly. I wish though they would have a veteran’s discount.
After entering the room, we were very surprised how small the room was. That bathroom was almost bigger. There wasn’t even room to put a small chair in there, and even the luggage rack was folded because it would block the door to get out.
The room was clean, including the bathroom.
My biggest complaint though, was the mattress. It needs replaced. There was a huge “valley” in the center of the mattress making it difficult to get comfortable and go to sleep. If the mattress was changed, I would be able to get the inn a better rating. Especially with the price I paid for the room. I’m my opinion, the cost should be decreased at least $75.
- Kevin (8/5): - Helpful staff.
- James (10/5): - Was very happy with everything there food was excellent too
Highly recommend it
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very Pleasant Stay - Very pleasant stay. We found the staff checking us in very friendly and helpful. The Room was quiet, clean, and had a large bathroom.
- David (8/5): - Cold Creek Inn are vintage guest rooms above a bar/restaurant. As long as you know what to expect, it is nice, clean, and comfortable.
- Connie (10/5): -
- Andrew (6/5): - Very friendly and nice staff. Room wasn’t ready by 4pm check-in which caused me to be late for wedding.
- Noel (6/5): - Room was clean but very tiny for 4 people. Considering the room size, the rate is expensive.
- Darrel (10/5): - It was a highlight of my trip the rooms were spotlessly clean the owners are great people the food was second to none had a great time thanks
- Jon (8/5): - Immaculate room. Small and charming.
- rob (10/5): - Very clean and convenient. Right in the middle of town. 1 block away from the beach.
- mary patricia (10/5): - Fun in town experience
Small clean pleasant room
above a lively restaurant/bar
Seniors-Lots of steps to your room. Want to be on the beach
Try their other property ❤️
- Corey (10/5): - Loved the town its in. The people in the restaurant below were super nice!!!! We will be going back in a couple of months for sure!!!!
- Evan (10/5): - The staff was excellent and incredibly friendly/considerate. Room was very nice as well
- Leonard (10/5): - Quaint accommodations located above an excellent restaraunt / bar.
- Cathy (8/5): - Room was very small and no elevator for 2nd floor. My mother is 87 and has bad limp. Stairs were very hard for her. Room was clean and bed was very comfy. Staff were very nice
- Avhidipta (10/5): - The accomodation is top of the restrurant. So there is no look out for food, stuffs are amazing
- Kevin P. (10/5): - Pleasantly surprised at condition of room. Will stay again.
However, the rooms are not handicap-assessible, need to climb several stairs.
No trouble for us, though.
Really liked it.
- Lynne (6/5): - The location was within walking distance of the shops and the lake. Did not realize it was up on the second floor room was rather cramped. Prefer nicer toilet paper. Since they have a restaurant some kind of breakfast could have been an option.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth the overall price for room. - Room was very disappointing very small not as advertised
uncomfortable to say the least. Not anything as pictured in ads. TO ME a bit dumpy at best. Note may not use your services again.
- Nathan (10/5): - It's like an olden-times inn with the (wonderful) restaurant downstairs. the staff is so friendly, it feels like family. The town is cute and the scenery gorgeous.
- David (8/5): - Great location- great restaurant
- Roger (10/5): - In the heart of Beulah. Walk one block to Crystal Lake. Park your car and not needed.
TV did not work
- Jennifer (10/5): Quaint and enjoyable - I enjoyed my stay. The room was not super big, but was cozy. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked fine. The bathroom was nice and big and, in my opinion, very clean. As a former housekeeper myself, I check just about every nook and cranny and found no dirt, hair, or rust. The rooms were quiet and there was a nice restaurant attached. Good food. Housekeeping staff was very friendly. Check in was a bit funky as you had to check in at the bar in the attached restaurant, but check out was easy. Could use a continental breakfast and coffee. A couple bottles of water per room left in the fridge would go a long way too. But overall, I would stay again!!!
- Mary (2/5): - We were not able to stay here because our room was not available. The previous person never checked out and the staff could not get ahold of the person. Now I know why they have more pictures of the food they serve, rather than the rooms. Very misleading.
- Drew (10/5): - Was better than expected for a fishing trip! Nice clean rooms, nothing fancy, but efficient. Restaruant right below was a plus!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Staff was nice owner not all there
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The doors shutting when bar closes very loud
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location is ok.
The room is above a bar which closed at 10p Sat night.
Clean room.
Plenty of hot water.
Semi secured.
My draw backs.
No wifi. Bad cell reception.
Toilet was a low, low rider. O my knees.
I prefer a bar soap. The squeeze was a little much to wash my hands.
The stairs are a climb.
The shag carpet. I don’t have that at my own home.
No counter person. Just seems better.
No check out box to leave the keys.
Its ok if your in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rooms are small but neat and clean. Perfect for my family as we were just sleeping for 1 night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a nice place, room was small and that was fine but needs a second small nightstand on other side of bed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Felt like a poorly kept up dorm room. Very little noise separation from the neighbors. Very confusing check in and check out—no instructions, no directions.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay at cold creek inn. They have a restaurant below the rooms. Very delicious 😋
- Verified traveler (8/5): - VERY CHARMING.
- jennifer (10/5): Cute - Very cozy room , there was a nice restaurant downstairs .
The shower and room were a little small if you were staying more then a couple nights it might be an issue
The town of Beulah is very cute and charming
- Verified traveler (8/5): - My car was vandalized in the rear parking lot one night. The bsck could be cleaned up more, but we were pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the room we had.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s very close to the lovely Crystal Lake. A small but clean room with no curtain in the very clean bathroom, but no view either. There was no dresser, nor room for one. The cheerful staff provided hangers, ironing board and iron we we requested them. Expensive, small, clean, well-located. If they had handicapped excessive room, I didn’t see any. Check out is 10 AM.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The place was small, but clean. Unfortunately, they told us we had no reservation when we arrived. I had to prove my reservation by showing the confirmation on my phone. They did get us in, thankfully.
