- Nelson (8/5): - Was small but liked how clean it was and just things there that over night guests need.
- Richard (10/5): Great - The location was very convenient for an event I was attending. The rooms were newly renovated and were very clean. Every time I returned after being away for the day, I found the room made up perfectly. This is an incredibly clean inn.
The owners were very cordial and hospitable. Nothing needed to be improve at the inn. The community did not have a lot to offer but I was very glad I found this inn to stay at.
- David (10/5): - Neal and Family run a wonderful, warm establishment
- Michael (8/5): - My husband stayed and said it was well taken care of. He did have some problem with the ac unit but the manager brought in a portable one to make up for it so that was good of them. Over all he said he liked it and it was next to were his mom lives so very helpful. He said he will make it a place he will stay again when we visit his mom.

- Stanley (8/5): Very good - Nice, quiet, tiny. Clean, snacks and magazines provided. Shower is super narrow... Hard to turn around in there and the toilet wasn't fastened firmly to the floor. Kind of wobbly.
- Denise (10/5): - This little inn was perfect for my overnight stay. The entire building had been renovated, so everything was updated with excellent features.
My room was well appointed with a very comfortable leather reclining chair, desk, mini fridge/microwave and a host of complimentary beverages and snacks. Even the modern bathroom offered a basket full of toiletry supplies.
This property is a hidden gem, and I would definitely stay here again if I’m in the area. It was a very pleasant departure from the large chain hotels I usually end up staying in.
- Micheal (10/5): - Easy, pleasant check in....room is very clean
- Robert (6/5): - Fine. But pricey for what you get.

- Nancy (8/5): A safe, clean place to stay - The Amherst Inn was a very convenient choice for the event we were staying for at nearby Sweet Briar College. It was easy to get to and the staff was very friendly and informative about things to do and places to eat nearby. The room was clean but small, the ac worked great, and the outside appearance and parking area was neat and safe. It was well lit and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with lots of extras like ear plugs, razors, and toothbrushes (individually wrapped); the shower was small but, again, very clean.
- Ashleigh (10/5): Exceptional - Very homey feeling, loved the comp snacks and drinks The bed was pretty uncomfortable.
- Ron (10/5): Boutique Hotel Experience - Excellent little motel. You can really tell the owners have worked hard to make the rooms clean and beautiful. There are so many little thoughtful details. - Sarah (10/5): Cozy little stay - The Amherst Inn is absolutely lovely. I am 6'1 so my feet hung off the bed and the shower was smaller than usual, to me. Just don't drop the soap! I felt like Snow White waiting for the dwarfs to show up to be honest. Wish there had been an open window to sing along with the birds. No complaints, it was quiet and so cute, little snack bar with a variety of goodies, books to read, a welcome book illustrating the town, restaurants, attractions, and outdoor activities. It's a very cozy little stay. Gas station across the street, dining and grocery store within walking distance as well.
- LAUREN (10/5): - Fit our need for a quick overnight stay! Beds were comgortable and had anything you might need or have forgotten!

- Michael (8/5): - Clean and well run hotel, and Neil at the front desk is very accommodating and professional. Rooms are a bit small for what I am used to, but for a few nights, it was perfect. Rooms are well stocked with all you need, and surprisingly quiet though it's off a busy road. Thank you!
- Brent (10/5): - great place to stay. Reasonably updated and nicely appointed room. Would consider this again if I am in the area.
- Susan (6/5): Tiny but cute. No breakfast. - WAY overpriced because of college graduation weekend. Tiny room. No breakfast or restaurant. This room is worth maybe $145 per night - they charged me $368 Including tax. Horrible AC unit. It’s a motel, not a hotel. Room is cute and quaint. But did I say tiny?
- Erica (8/5): The hotel officials were extremely hospitable! - Location to my destination. I was in town a participant with the Liberty University graduation. No Handicap accessible options. My elderly and handicapped mother traveled with me.

- Greg (10/5): Exceptional - Owner provides nice personal touches in amenities and decor. Feels like home.
We always stay here when in the area. All was goood
- MICHAEL G (10/5): Fantastic Find! - We were so pleased with this motel! They had imagined every possible need, down to a reading lamp by the bed in case your partner is asleep. It is absolutely charming. The snacks were perfect. Probably most important, the room was spotless. Also, the shower rocked! It was powerful and hot. I would definitely stay here again. It's a beautiful spot in Virginia.
- Kim (8/5): Tiny room - Amenities were exceptional. Staff was lovely. Location. Very little to no access to property around the hotel. Room is very small for 3 people and the throws and extra pillows just get in the way. Only a desk chair. No chair with arms for relaxing. Utilizes the small space very well but a comfortable chair to rest in would have been great.
- Ahmed (8/5): Nice little gem - A real great stay at this cute hotel. The service was excellent and welcoming, the rooms had been newly renovated and were very very clean. Bed was super comfortable. Attention to detail in the decor and the complimentary snacks basket was a nice touch. This is a motel style accommodation so the room are small, but the other pros offset this. There was a little musty smell in our room and the Aircon was a little noisy, but honestly don't hesitate to book this gem so close to the blue ridge! We even extended our stay one night.
- Betty (10/5): Very comfortable, loved the shower and appreciated the fridge, microwave and lovely towels and linen - Can’t think of a thing!
- Holger (10/5): A must for anyone who wants to do the roadside motel experience - What an amazing surprise this place is. Always wanted to stay in a roadside Motel and were expecting something a lot less comfortable. Awesome all the little details to make the stay memorable. Great snacks, amenities and even a booklet to help find everything in town one might need! Maybe location is not really picturesque but actually cannot think of anything!
- Lisa (8/5): Comfortable and clean - Very clean room and comfortable. Liked the in-room coffee and snacks. Did not know it was a motel but only reason it concerned me was that I was traveling alone, it was late and I was on the end unit so I hurried into my room Slight musty smell from a/c unit
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional - This was by far the nicest motel our family has stayed in over the last 5 years.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - clean, comfortable, attention to detail w amenities
- Frances (10/5): - Room was on the smaller side, but super clean and very well-equiped. Inside and outside showed real pride in ownership. I would not hesitate to recommend it and as a matter of fact, I already have.
- Larry (8/5): Very good - I liked the entire setup and room. The renovations are nice and they had plenty of amenities for all my needs. Very clean. The bed was just a little stiff for my personal taste and while the water pressure an shower head were great the shower stall was a bit small for me since I am a large man
- Michael (10/5): Great little motel. - Older Motel but beautifully redone, very comfy with lots of little extras in room snacks, bottled water and coffee. We will stay again.
- Evann (10/5): - Neal and Mina provided a wonderful place to stay that was full of unexpected and delightful touches (like muffins, a cinnamon bun and other snacks in the room). Comfortable beds, a clean and well-stocked bathroom and a very simple check-in and check-out process. 😁👍
- Raegan (10/5): - Very niceplac3 Higley recommended!
- Michael (10/5): Graduation trip - Very nice, clean and quiet.
- Anthony (10/5): - Very nice place. Courteous staff. Lots of little unexpected extras. I would definitely recommend.
- Tawhera (10/5): Old meets new! - The inn is so lovely and comfortable with many amenities. From the outside it definitely has a motor lodge feel, but the room is updated with nice furnishings. I would definitely stay here again.
- henry (10/5): Clean and restful - This was part of a longer trip and we just needed a place to sleep for the night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was fresh and clean. It was a great place to rest on our journey.
- Matthew (10/5): Great, Clean, Updated room. - So nice to have a CLEAN, UPDATED and NICE room.
Frankly many hotels I’ve stayed in are gross and not worth the $115+ per night (really not worth $15).
However, the Amherst Inn is great! Impressed by the service, cleanliness, furniture and amenities.
Thank you to the management and all employees.
- Deborah Jane (10/5): - Such a cute little quaint place and good location to wineries and Blue Mountain Barrel House and Restaurant. Great price and the room had complimentary water and snacks!
