Guest Reviews
- Mike (10/5): - Super helpful and lovely owner. The hotel is a bit dated but is in a quieter part of the island and suited our needs well. The owner rents scooters and my husband and I had a great time exploring the area by scooter. It’s a beautiful island.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ken the owner and his wife, Lu, are great hosts. Hong the receptionist speaks brilliant English and has encyclopaedic knowledge of the area and what to see. She also is very helpful in booking tours etc.
Breakfast is simple , eggs, toast, cereal but done well. Small inexpensive bar and will organise good takeaway meals if you want a night in. About 15 min walk to town. quiet location on river .Good ice cream and coffee shop close by
- David (10/5): Fantastic stay - We just stayed for one night but were made so welcome. The owners, Ken and Lieu, helped by recommending cycle routes and sorting our travel transfers, Ken even gave my wife a lift to a local restaraunt on the back of his bike/go-cart while I ran behind (quite a bit behind!).
A tour was organised for us around the Delta by Hong who was a fantastic guide with lots of interesting stories. When we left we hugged and were waved off by our new found friends. We would definitely recommend the Oasis hotel and the tour. The staff go above and beyond.
- Paul (10/5): - A wonderful family run hotel. They couldn't do enough for us. In fact they were the perfect hosts. We did the half day boat tour which was excellent and Hong from the hotel was our tour guide and so informative. Also they arranged our bus to Ho Chi Minh City. which made it easy for us
- Lorna (10/5): Nice - It was very nice, clean, good service, cold pool
- Lorna (10/5): Nice place - The hotel is great, owner is a card, dogs are special, pool is cool, food is delicious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming stay, so much adventure - Check in was a breeze, the room was clean, ac worked perfect. Free water. The outdoor pool was clean and cold. The owners dog had puppy’s eight weeks ago so there were 3 little wonderful butterball pups to entertain me. The own, Ken, is a delight to talk with. All the staff are very helpful. WiFi worked great in the room as well as common areas. Breakfast was served every morning. I recommend the omelette, so delicious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful laidback place with super friendly owner and staff. Not to miss is the boat excursion!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff at Oasis were what really made our stay special. The omelette for breakfast was the best I've had on our travels. We particularly enjoyed our trip along the river and canals. The hammocks strung up under the shelter were great for relaxing.
- Jay (8/5): - Very unique property and an enjoyable stay. I would say that the pool is the beautiful thing it was in pictures and that they’re a little further out from town than I thought. However they have excellent bikes to ride and the staff is extremely jovial and helpful.
- Fiona (10/5): A Wonderful Experience - We loved our 3 nights in the Oasis and our trip with Hong on the river for half a day was one of the highlights of our 3 week holiday. The Hotel offers basic rooms and facilities but these do not matter as the owner Ken and the rest of the staff are such characters that they more than make up for the dated bathrooms!
We took the public bus from HCMC (including mini bus transfer to the Hotel), which was ideal. The Hotel is by the Ben Tre River a 20 minute walk from town. The town has not yet been affected much by tourists which made it very interesting.
On our 2nd day we took Hotel bikes and cycled 30km on a route suggested by Hong to a very unspoilt Island, it was quite delightful to see no tourists all day.
Hong is the source of all knowledge about the area and about being Vietnamese - we so admire how she has learnt to be such a great guide, with the help of Ken and the Team.
- kathy and dave (10/5): Excellent staff - Ken, Hong, and An made our trip to the Mekong special. Ken went to town twice for me, to fix my phone and then to buy an adaptor for my bio-mat. Hong and An are absolute jems. So helpful and knowledgeable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We totally enjoyed our stay at oasis hotel. The staff were lovely. They arranged for us a private inexpensive tour of the rivers and surrounding area which was wonderful.
A magical time with frendly and beautiful staff.
Thank you to all at oasis.
- Heather (10/5): - This was grest place to stay and relax. The owners and staff were top notch.
- Georgia (10/5): - Great staff, very friendly with lots of good local tips. Relaxing area away from hustle and bustle, well needed after HCMC. Bit loud in the mornings (being on bottom floor near breakfast area, and some neighbours doing construction works), but this is Vietnam after all! Really good value and would love to stay here again next time I’m in Ben Tre.
- Shaun (10/5): Great Place to Stay - Stayed 2 nights. Great quiet location. Family room was very comfortable. Breakfast was quite good. We enjoyed talking to Ken and his very friendly staff. Very relaxed easy going place. Did the tour which was a highlight of our Vietnam trip.
- lesley (4/5): Ripped off with the transport costs - it upsets me to write a bad review, and this in no way reflects on Hong (reception) who was really helpful.
firstly we put our trust in hotels that we book, so I asked for transfer from Ho Chi Minh. That was $72 for a 2.5 hour car journey. As soon as we arrived we asked for help in arranging transfer onto Châu Doc. It was either $165 for car (6 hours) or $265 for a slow boat ( no toilet etc) we choose the boat.
I appreciate that there was only 2 of us on the boat, and we were hoping for a more picturesque journey Along the Mekong, but it was far more Industrial than we had imagined, and a very arduous 14.5 hours journey.
Having now had further transfer costs, and speaking to others travellers, it does seem like we were made to pay over the odds for the transfers.
Another very small issue, but worth a mention was, this was booked due to a recommendation in Lonely Planet guide, which states free push bike rental. We borrowed bikes for around an hour, with no mention of rental costs, and then when we had to pay for the boat, we were charged for the bike rentals.
Having said that it is a quirky place to stay, Hong was very helpful when I discovered I had lost my bank card.
I would just advise you shop around for transfer costs if you are staying here.
- Simon (6/5): Out of town hotel - We could only stay one night, and it was fine for that. We did a morning boat trip, but parts of it were curtailed- the coconut candy place wasn't really open yet, and the mat-weaving place was closed on Sunday. But hotel manageress/tour guide Hong was very good and informative, and the coconut processing place was interesting. Lunch (elephant ear fish) was good, although very early.
We borrowed bikes to potter around on, visiting a local restaurant recommended by Hong (the Garden restaurant), but it was not a great meal. We walked to a nearer restaurant in the evening, and the food was good, but we were the only customers. The hotel is on the other side of the river from the main town centre, so expect to use taxis etc if you go out in the evening. Breakfast was good. The room was ok, if a little tired and dated. Hong was very helpful in organising onward bus travel for us.
- sonia (8/5): - Very welcoming staff great and very helpful, super relaxing atmosphere
- Robin (10/5): - Nice pool to cool off in, shaded patio area, hammocks...very social environment, guilt, awesome host, Hong, she is the nicest person we have met in this country and she speaks excellent English
