Guest Reviews
- Deborah (10/5): - This is the second year we have stayed at the lovely Viva Mare, we have already booked again for next year. This little gem of a hotel is amazing and you will not be disappointed. The welcome you get from Chrissa, Maria and the team is wonderful, they are always on hand and can help you with any questions you may have, booking trips and restaurants. The hotel is very clean and all the rooms are spacious, cleaned every day and well equipped with cooking facilities (microwave, hob and fridge freezer) if you wish to eat in. Breakfast is varied and top quality. The pool is a good size with a poolside bar for drinks and snacks. There are plenty of sunbeds and seating areas around the poolside. It is child friendly with various pool toys available and a shallow area.
It is a ten minute downhill walk into town (the walk back up to the hotel is quite steep and not suitable if you any mobility issues). In the town you will find plenty of restaurants, boutique style shops, beach bars and you can hire sunbeds on the beach. You could either take a boat trip around the coast or hire your own small boat. If you choose to hire a car the villages nearby also have some lovely restaurants. Highly recommend.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - Excellent accommodation in a beautifully clean complex. Rooms cleaned to an immaculate standard: clean bedding and towels every day. Breakfast is simple but fresh local produce. Swimming pool is perfect. A quiet time is observed between 14.30 - 17.30 though you can still swim. We found most families headed for the beach and returned early evening for a sunset swim. Perfect. The staff are amazing- the cleaners clean everything including shutters, windows, everything! Special mention to Alex as nothing is too much trouble and also to Chrissy who is so friendly and helpful. To summarise this place is perfect.
- Olga (10/5): - Viva Mare is a gem. Beautiful apartments, well appointed, with both a pool and easy access to the beach, shops dining. Alexandros, one of the owners went to exceptional efforts to help resolve a problem I had accessing some Greek services. Many thanks!
- George (10/5): - Great property. I would recommend for families
- Ulrike (8/5): - Beste Aussicht auf die wunderschöne Bucht und die vorgelagerte Insel. Stilvolle Einrichtung und schöner Poolbereich.
- Garry (10/5): - Great looking property, pool is excellent.
Front counter staff speak excellent English and are very informative.
Even made dinner reservations for us at a very good and popular restaurant.
5 min walk to beach and restaurants.
- Johannes (10/5): - Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter-innen, sehr schöne Apartments. Tolle Lage
- Donna (10/5): - What a delightful hotel! Wonderful Greek experience, wish we’d discovered it earlier in our travels through Peloponnese. Definitely in our plans on return trip for a longer stay. Staff very friendly and efficient.
- Serena (10/5): - Lovely hotel, very clean with beautiful views of the village. Staff extremely friendly and helpful
- Charles (10/5): - Wonderful hotel - so bright, clean and beautiful! Amazing service - friendly and helpful. We can’t believe how lucky we were to find this gem. Easy 2 minute walk to beach and lovely village. We will be back!
- Simon (10/5): - Superb customer service - so friendly and helpful. The hotel is kept impeccably clean. Breakfast (delivered to room - order day before) is excellent, especially the homemade pies and cakes! Location is overlooking the town (<5 minute walk away) with wonderful views.
- Olivia (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, lovely seaview from the room/balcony. Stunning pool, very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely rooms, very clean and great standards. Quiet location but only 5mins walk to the beach. We had the most relaxing and wonderful holiday!
- DIMITRIOS (10/5): one of the cleanest place I've ever lived - clean clean clean and sweet
- Bogdan (8/5): Polecam - Pokoje bardzo przyjemne i czyste z fajnymi balkonami.

- Vasileios (10/5): - Καταπληκτικό το service του ξενοδοχείου
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ambiente spazioso e pulito a 2 passi dalla spiaggia locale. Staff cordiale e disponibile.
- Gunilla (10/5): Fantastiskt! - Underbart hotell! Genuint, lugnt, bra service och fint poolområde.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved it. Can't wait to go back. Fantastic place - lovely and clean. Pool is fab.
- Donna (10/5): Perfect stay - Very warm welcome plus a bottle of fizz as it was our ruby wedding anniversary!
Perfect spacious accomodation and friendly staff especially Eleanor
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very clean and picturesque hotel, with lovely swimming pool and accommodating staff.
- Jo (10/5): Really nice, friendly hotel - Lovely apartment, great breakfast, nice pool. Everyone was really friendly. Short walk to the beach and shops and restaurants. We had a great time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was excellent at Viva Mare.
- Frances (10/5): Best looking studios in town. - Very spacious studios, enormous comfortable bed, great views of the sea and town. We were at the top and the only ones with a balcony on both sides by luck. Vast choice at breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely pool, very rarely used by anyone. Definitely the best hotel in town!
- Patricia (10/5): A Southern Peloponnesian Oasis - In all of our travels we have rarely encountered an accommodation as nice as this one. While not a large property, it meets or rivals much larger Greek accommodations when it comes to management, decor, cleanliness, beauty and can-do, positive attitude of its staff. There is really not enough that is positive that we can say about the Viva Mare. They’ve been attentive to every detail when it come to decor – rivaling places in legendary places like Mykonos and Santorini. Their pool is beautiful and there’s an enchanting beach right below the hotel. The landscaping is impeccable and simply must be seen for its attentiveness to detail. Perhaps the only area where Viva Mare needs improvement is expanding its parking, though we had no problem in parking our car. The breakfast room is enchanting and pleasant and the choice of breakfast fare should satisfy any and all comers. We plan to return to the area for the simple reason that, this time, we wish to reserve an entire week to relax amidst the charms of this place. Would that all Hellenic hotelier emulated the owners and staff of this little oasis in the Southern Peloponnesos.
- John (10/5): A Hidden Gem - This place is a gem. We had been travelling for Europe for 2 months and this was without a doubt the best place we had stayed in. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff were fantastic and the included breakfast was awesome. The pool was great. It was a short walk to the main shopping/dining area and the beach. We wanted an authentic Greek experience and we weren't disappointed. The streets come alive at night. What an awesome experience we had in this town. We wished we had stayed longer but at this moment we are planning a return visit. I would thoroughly recommend this place!
- Yiannis (10/5): Fabulous Hotel Close to Beach - We stayed in a lovely, spacious family apartment which comfortably accommodated 5 people. The hotel is of a very high standard, in fact one of the nicest ones we've stayed in Greece. Very clean with fresh towels every day and bedlinen every other day. Free air conditioning which works very well. Excellent pool area with bar. Five minute walk to beaches and tavernas. Lovely, friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In close proximity to the beach. Super friendly for families and kids but also very pleasant for young couples. Nice, clean and friendly staff.
- Andrew (10/5): Nice hotel close to the beach - Highly recommended. Nothing to fault. You will not be disappointed.
- Aron (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay, wheather you relax by the pool or explore the beaches! Walking distance from the main strip in Finikounda which hosts small shops and the best resturant... Elena's!
- SUSAN (10/5): Hidden treasure! - Fantastic apartments, wonderful staff, short walk (200m) to the beach, a few bars and tavernas. A small traditional village - chilling with the locals!
If you are looking for total chill out, then give it a go.
Evie at Viva Mare can arrange a taxi from the airport (quicker than bus) 1hr door to door €70 each way.
Worth a visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Our Greek Island resort stay on the mainland! - Amazing stay, friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast buffet and decor throughout. Like a trip to the Greek Islands. Only a 2 minute walk to the great beach with cool waters and great views. A fishing area with loads of restaurants and town people walking after dinner on the main square. We had a view of the sea and a great suite. The pool was a wonderful and inviting with tiki pool bar and restaurant. There is a full kitchen for cooking if you like and most of all a very lovely manager to greet us on arrival with a welcome coupon for a complimentary sangria by the pool. Could have stayed a month! A true find. Lovely and well run.
- Anne (10/5): Little paradise - Such a delightfull place. Spotless accomadation the staff are really helpfull great swiming pool
- Verified traveler (10/5): As new - Open 5 years but stylish furnishing and decoration as new.
- Maria (10/5): worth staying there - highly recomment
- Kelly (10/5): Lovely hotel, authentically Greek. - We had a fantastic holiday at Viva Mare hotel. The hotel itself is well positioned and we had fantastic sea views from the balcony of our room (B7). It is quiet, with a mixture of Nationalities but mostly Greek families. The lovely pool area is quiet during the day, most Greek families go to the beach so there was always plenty of sun loungers available. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Hotel manager Evi can't do enough for you.
The hotel is in a small fishing village with several good restaurants and bars, some shops and a supermarket. We hired a car for a day and explored the local area. Just 20 minutes in either direction there are villages with coastal castles, we particularly enjoyed Methoni.
We would highly recommend this hotel for travellers who want a quiet, relaxing holiday with an authentically Greek experience.
- Sam (10/5): Excellent Hotel - The best hotel we have ever experienced in Greece. We got a good rate as our daughter finished exams in June so we travelled in early July - rates seem to rise on around the 16th. Viva Mare is located about 100M from the beach, up a side road, overlooking the small holiday town of Finikounda. The hotel has an excellent pool, reasonably priced pool bar for drinks, a small taverna - little used by guests but actually very good. The room rate includes daily cleaning and a breakfast buffet which is pretty good. The facilities are in superb condition because the hotel is only a couple of years old, and rooms vary in style and layout - all charming island style. Try and find the 360 degree room viewer on the hotel's own web site for a detailed look at each unit. Some are on the ground floor for the less able, other's have an eagle's eye view of the coast and are up a couple of flights. The hotel feels very quiet, even when fully booked, and most visitors are Greek families who enjoy going to the beach in the mornings, and using the pool in the late afternoon. Sound insulation between rooms is excellent. Beds are superb and in good condition. Extra pillows on request. Daily cleaning is exceptional. We were really knocked out by this place. The Manager Evi speaks very good English and she and the rest of her staff could not have been more helpful. There's the usual half-finished construction next door, but that's beyond the control of the hotel and we expect that in Greece. Excellent
- jo (10/5): Lovely hotel, excellent value. - We had a spacious apartment with comfortable beds, which is often hard to find. Very clean. Friendly staff. 5 mins walk to town. Lovely area with fantastic beaches within short drive.
- Cathy (10/5): Beautiful apartment close to Foinikounta - Out holiday had been planned for over a year, as a special treat to celebrate hitting the 60's! As four women, we had booked a room comprising accommodation to this effect and it did not disappoint. The hotel was near to the main street, albeit a rather sharp winding hill! - and featured a wonderful swimming pool in the midst of all the modern bungalow-type apartments. However, as we arrived extremely late, having driven from Athens, we were most relieved to find the manageress waiting for us! The only problem was that we had thought breakfast would be included in our 9 night trip and this proved not to be the case as the main season had ended and this service had been withdrawn. This was not mentioned on the website. Nevertheless, the staff were only too willing to assist in this matter, although we did have to pay extra for it. We had a lovely big open plan room with high ceiling and wooden beams, a kitchenette with stairs leading to the mezzanine floor for extra bedding. The little garden and seating area in the front completed the effect perfectly!
- m (10/5): Just lovely! - We have stayed in a few of these pelopennese apartment hotels now, and this is by a long way the best. Smart, well maintained and attractive building, lovely spacious studIo, excellent bathroom and comfortable bed. The swimming pool was a delight and extremely clean, and an excellent beach bar. And you simply could not better the service or the room cleaning. A steep, walk down to the small town, which has a,good choice of bars and some excellent restaurants, and a short drive West to one of the best beaches I have been to in recent years. Just lovely!
