Guest Reviews
- Charles (7/5): -
- Chelsea (4/5): - My shower did not work and the room next door was extremely loud and the staff refused to do anything about it.
- Cesar (7/5): - Las habitaciones huelen mal
- Linda (8/5): Great value for the price … would definitely recommend for those needing a cost friendly motel. - Conveniently located Older and somewhat dated, but clean and comfortable.
- Brian (7/5): Clean and good value with friendly service - Easy to get to and close to shopping in town. Easy access to highway to Dubuque shopping as well. Friendly staff and well maintained despite having some older finishing. Parking stalls were close. Some road noise but not terrible.
- Corey (3/5): Not the best but not the worst I've ever been to. - Desk was friendly Rooms were very outdated and in poor shape. Floors were dirty.
- Ann (5/5): - We didn't have any. Cleanliness! This hotel isn't even handicap accessible, so safety is a big concern.
- Lori (5/5): - It needs a little updating It didn’t have a clean cozy feeling to it, simple updating would help
- Heide (6/5): -
- Vandgrift (10/5): - Convient location, staff was very nice Clean room except the air conditioning system, very dirty with mold
- CHARLES (4/5): - Lots mold in the bathrooms (have pictures) Beat up front storm door, no key for upper lock, but hand turn inside...no safe feeling. Miniature bar of soap, sink was brush painted. Thought about stop payment......would never stay there again. Would have gone some place else, but none available. Also this "place" was not full (i can see why) Really beyond description. Worst place i ever stayed in my life!
- Kevin (10/5): - Was very impressed. Nice clean rooms Very clean and neat. Friendly staff location is great . Definitely recommend .
- debi (10/5): - The motel staff/owner was polite, friendly and accommodating. My sister and I stayed 2 nites to visit the Field of Dreams and the town. The motel is only 1 mile from the main part of town with wineries, breweries and dining. I absolutely will stay here again.
- Shirley (4/5): - Very outdated & smelled. No table only 1 nightstand, lamp shades peeling, curtains looked as if they were to fall apart, many items rusty and a ceiling light used as a wall light. Fire alarm went off at 7:30 a.m. husband had to take it off the wall. Only stayed because other hotels booked. Could be a nice place if it was redone.
- David (4/5): 🥲 - Not much! Run down!
- Justin (10/5): Good - Good
- Judith (8/5): Convenient and quiet - Clean Had a funny smell , bright light coming in window
- Dawn (1/5): - I don't know because they won't let us stay and they still charge the room I guess they need the money I booked it and when we got there they won't let us stay they must need the money hope whoever got the room had fun on my money
- Cool (10/5): Great stay - Staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful and made sure we had everything we needed
- Nicole (8/5): - Clean, comfortable room. Friendly and polite staff. Simple and no fills but just right for what we needed.
- Tim (4/5): It was a very old facility that didn’t even have a blow dryer - Television Old and outdated
- patrick (3/5): - Location. Room had a weird smell.
Tub / Shower had mold in the corners
Sink drained very slowly
Toilet had to flush twice every time.
- Hunter (10/5): - Here for a wedding
- James (5/5): Even though I like to save money, it would have been worth the extra $35 for another hotel. - While older and somewhat worn, it was clean. I appreciated the microwave and the mini fridge. The A/C was not initially sufficient. It was a small wall unit mounted in the west wall (direct sunlight on typical hot summer Midwest day. If you check in and expect it to cool down in 30 minutes or so it isn't going to happen. By the middle of the night it finally got to the point where I had to use the blankets. The mattress was like sleeping on the floor - hard. Very thin curtains with no blinds resulting in a fairly bright room with other business lights in the area. Bottom line here - pay attention to the dates on the reviews. If I had I probably wouldn't have stayed here.
- Cole (8/5): It was good - Clean Nothing
- Gabriel (10/5): - Property was old school with a regular key to get in. It was convenient for us since the boys were playing baseball around the area
- Norman (7/5): -
- Scott (1/5): This place is a dump would not ever stay here - Nothing! All the mold in the air conditioner in the shower and the sink area lights falling off the walls. Bad management in this place is a dump.
- Poss (3/5): Poor -
- Ivy (3/5): We booked for two nights but only stayed one - Location, manager was responsive and explained it is under new management and they have planned restoration of all the rooms Fall 2025, room was clean, price was just over $100/nigjt Rooms are small, extra small bathrooms, pillows were flat and only had two, small individual air conditioners that did not cool in the heat, room was a bit musty - maybe due to high temperature
- Guy (7/5): Good -
- Mary (4/5): You get what you paty for - Very wore rooms. Rooms reminded you of the Bates Motel. No bed bugs or vermin. Thevrooms were as clean as they could be. Wallpaper was peeling very badly in the bathroom. Tub wass clean. Doors seemed flimsy but did have an extra lock on them. Microwave did not work. Refrigerator was good. Clerk was nice but it was hard to understand him, he had a very thick accent. All in all you get what you pay for. I would not stay here again.
- Garold (6/5): - Not up to par. Many rooms closed Not sure how it can stay open.
- Jason (2/5): Dated - Walls unpainted, dirty walls, exterior cluttered just not a good experience for the $
- Jeni (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (5/5): Passable - Room was clean and tidy. Room was cheap. Location was good (near the Field of Dreams Movie Site.) Facility really worn down. No breakfast on offer.
- Johnny (6/5): Fair value - Convenient Looked very tired, dated
- Dennis (4/5): Disappointing - Location Asked for first floor, got second floor
- Darla (8/5): - The most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. Clean and good staff
- Gilligan (8/5): Very good - Convenient Basic
- Kayla (2/5): - Check in time starts at 2, we showed up after 3pm and were told we couldnt check in because our room wasnt ready. Once we were able to go into our room the bed size wasnt as guarenteed, there was mold in the bathroom, shower didnt work, and all you could smell walking in was a bunch of cleaning chemicals. I would give a 0 star rating if i could 😒
- Bridget (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Good location. Good price.
- Brian (8/5): - Room was clean & staff very helpful
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allyson (6/5): Nofrills Clean Stay Exceptional Host - With such high ratings, we were expecting something less run down. Room was clean, tv is small, screen on door duct taped, bight yard light shown through curtains, heater, road, & train noises made it difficult to sleep. Host was exceptional & room was clean so if one is looking for a reasonably priced, no frills stay & can sleep with noise & light, it was very good.
- Roger (5/5): Passable -
- Bruce (2/5): - Very old and needs way too much work to even be close to acceptable. Rusty painted barhroom sink, very used bedding inc pillows. No coffee pot. Towel covering air conditioner. Mold on barhroom ceiling.Toilet leak. One useful outlet. Screen door ripped. No coffee pot. We stayed because it was dark and we were very tired. My opinion, it should not even be open.
- Kurt (8/5): - Has been updated since last time we were there. Family in the area so just need beds. Last time was very dated, new fridge, microwave, furniture, bed spreads. Much fresher. A bit of peeling wallpaper in bathroom but everything was fine. No 5 star place but clean place to lay your head and only pet friendly place in town.
- Penny (2/5): Never again - Location the only thing good about this property
- Linda (7/5): Location was great. The rest was just average. It was clean. - The location is great for what we came for - the National Farm Toy Show. It also is a clean place. There was no hair dryer in the room so I couldn't wash my hair. The place is an "old school" motel, not as modern as most places today.
- Stephen (8/5): Just an overnight stay. - Beds were comfortable. TV had only one channel. Wasn’t important enough to complain about.
- caleb (4/5): - Kinda a dump
- Charlie (8/5): - The property manager was very nice. It’s an older hotel but it was clean, had hot water, cold air, working furnace, working television, easy parking, comfortable bed, easy chair, a good price and it was all I needed. I have no complaints. But if you want something snazzy and new, then go elsewhere. But if you don’t, this is perfect.
- Jim (2/5): Nightmare - The photos shown for Hotels.com are not actual. This place is so rundown, the paint definitely, still lead, the room was dark and moldy smelling, the floor and the bathroom were scary, so old. The blue railing by the office is bent and loose. wasn't expecting this from the pictures that were shown, from some other motel. The check-in desk is not what you see from the photos. Shame on Hotels.com for not verifying this place. 8 men hanging around were very sketchy, then they went directly to the room above us. The manager wanted us to move to a room next to where the sketchy guys were, "It had new carpet" he said. The window had old newspaper stuffed under it, guess to keep the wind out, but probably couldn't open the windows anyway. found a clean, safe Super 8 for the same rate
- Deanna (4/5): - I felt uncomfortable in this area for some reason
- Brad (8/5): - Clean
- Brian (2/5): - The black mold in the wall ac unit first gave me pause. Then the fact that the sink drained slower than my 89 year old grandpas bladder. The shower had ok pressure. But everything about this place gave me huge sketchy vibes, to where we spent one night out of our two there. Also the manager/owner is a super weird guy. Would give zero stars if I could.
- Geri (4/5): Would not stay at that hotel again PERIOD - Nothing to note about property Dirty surroundings around hotel property
- Julie (10/5): Great location and great value! Clean! - Very friendly manager, clean Na
- Darrin (8/5): Very good -
- Hill (8/5): Very good -
- Joella (5/5): Adequate but... - This is an older sad looking hotel with dated furniture.
However it is very clean.
Bed was comfortable.
Manager was quite nice There are 3 deep steps up to the office and no ramp. The railing is not in a position to be helpful. You have to step up to enter your room.
This hotel is not appropriate for the handicapped.
Pillows were awful.
- Kiml (8/5): - Everything was pretty good
- Lorincz (8/5): Good - Good Nothing
- Matthew (10/5): - Good clean place to stay
- Mark (10/5): Amazing woeful stay overalls great - Wow Clean room with comfortable beds! Our room included a microwave, fridge, tv, .friendly stuff, quite room clean bathroom location great everything walking distance. Our room was serviced each day. Great price. Would definitely stay again! Outside look little older
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional - Overall great stay We enjoyed our short stay here. The hotel is very clean and staff is friendly. Our room was great size and clean. Bathroom clean beds comfortable quiet room location great ,outside look older but everything good I recommend this place ….. No breakfast
- John (10/5): - Great location nice comfort bed clean room
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Murley (1/5): Bad -
- Le (7/5): Good -
- Trevor (10/5): - Easy check in and out process. Friendly front desk. A nice simple and comfortable place to catch a snooze.
- Charles (4/5): - Worn and dated.
- Patrick (10/5): - Good stay for a good price point. Staff was very nice.
- Timothy (8/5): Would visit again - Clean, inexpensive and less expensive than most ...continental breakfast was a nice bonus. Lack of bathroom outlet outlet was my only criticism.
It appeared to be a popular hotel and I can see why.
- Tawnee (6/5): Only in a pinch would I stay again - Well it was not an upper class hotel by any sense of the word. Found blood droplets on the bathroom wall, the bed was too short for my husband who is 6’3”. For king size bed there was only two pillows. There was no outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer. No coffee pot for the morning, no ice tray or a machine. you’ve got what you’re $56 a night paid for - a place to rest your head.
- Blake (8/5): Fair Value - I stayed with my wife and six year old. We had a good stay. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were not bad either. My only complaint is that the bathroom was lacking a bit compared to similarly priced rooms I've stayed in before. The sink did not have any kind of surrounding surface to place products while getting ready for the day. All in all it was good for the $62 we spent.
- Dawn (8/5): - For an inexpensive place to crash it was fine. Not the most comfortable bed but you can’t ask for Hilton quality for the rate they charge. Friendly staff, and though it said there was breakfast, it was just coffee.
- Charles (8/5): Farm toy capital of the world - Love the hotel and location!! Older hotel but worth it
- Verified traveler (8/5): - centralized location...close to food and grocery establishments
- JenniferM (10/5): - No frills but clean and priced well. If your just looking for an affordable place to rest for the night this is the place to go
- Dale (8/5): Nice rest at end of day - Good rest at the end of a long day of travel. Met our needs just fine. Close to places of interest!
- LarryT (10/5): - Central location, great owner, older motel, love this place the town is great, The antique mall and family restaurant
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice clean room at a great price very friendly poeple working there
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and clean with good price.
It is close to city
- Barb (4/5): - I think the bed spread was older then me. The paint on the ceiling was cracking and the air conditioner and the bathroom fan were extremely loud! We could hear all the other rooms as well. You’re not provided with shampoo, only bar of soap😳
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Liked nothing. Messed our reservations all up. Blessing in disguise place unfit to stay at
- ROGER'SWIFE (2/5): - Paint peeling on dirty walls. Dried whiskers in sink. Carpet had not been vacummed after last visitor. No electric plug in bathroom. Only available one was an extention cord draped over the bedside table with no mirror closeby. Cigarette burn hole in bottom sheet. Only one bath towel for two of us, but I wouldn't have showered there, anyway. No wonder the price was low, but we were desperate. Second time we've been burned on Expedia or similar service. Live and learn.
- joyce (6/5): - The hotel could use some sprucing & painting inside. Smelled a bit stale. For the price kind of wanted a bit more.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a super clean motel and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is old. Bathroom was small, no outlets. Ceiling paint in the bathroom was peeling. Air conditioner a little noisy. The room itself was spacious and clean but a little run down.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For the price i was well satisfied! Enjoyed my stay!
- Nik (10/5): - It was a nice little hotel and great for what i needed it for, I was only staying one night there, so I didn't need something elaborate, property seemed safe and so did the room. The only thing was there was no desk or chair to work on my laptop, I moved the nightstand a bit to use that, but I'm always on my devices, if this isn't important to you then it's not a big deal I'm guessing. But overall I had a nice stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, interior was a bit out dated but everything worked good. Would have been nice to have a laundry facility on the premises
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Authentic motel feel. Perfectly comfortable and a good location. Breakfast is limited.
- Aliesha (10/5): - Traveled for my wedding we have a lot of family there.
The area is quiet, the manager, staff are great and the rooms are clean.
- Aliesha (10/5): - This is an older property looks like it is being renovated.
It’s quiet, the manager and cleaning staff is pleasant to deal with.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value, nice room.friendly personal. Easy to find
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location and price are great. Could use a bit of upkeep and deep cleaning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location and price. Quiet and clean. Very good WIFI.
