- Jason (10/5): - Beautiful room
Lovely staff
Wonderful location
- Emma (10/5): We will be back. - No breafast, but room was exceptional, clean and well appointed. Bar staff, serving staff and food and drink consumed all first class. Excellent live music too. Nothing! Will return for certain.
- Lee (8/5): - Nice cosy place to stay with friendly staff. Food was. Excellent and drinks good value. Would definitely stay here again.
- Gary (10/5): Super - Very friendly, helpful staff. Reasonably priced drinks. Superb food 👌. Lovely room and amazing bathroom. We will definitely stay again.
- roger (9/5): - Breakfast was very good, the full english was big enough for both me and my partner, and the staff were attentive
- Catherine (9/5): -
- Paul (9/5): An excellent room and helpful staff. Food was well prepared and presented. - A really good breakfast, but it took us a day to find out that it needs to be booked on the previous evening. Excellent room and en-suite. Food was freshly prepared. The pub weas busy when we arrived and it took a while to be shown where to go. At 8:30pm, we only just managed to get a meal. It is a large pub and it may be rather noisy in mid-season.

- Sharon (10/5): We will definitely be back! - We stayed overnight and absolutely loved it. The room was very clean and the little extra touches like the toiletries were lovely.
The cooked breakfast was quite possibly the nicest we have had and the portions in the restaurant were generous.
Staff were friendly, we will be back!
- Kirsty (9/5): Lovely! - Easy parking, lovely room, great facilities and good was good too
- Annette (7/5): The owner of this business need to decide if the swan is a pub with rooms , or a hotel and focus on delivering what woul - Great staff , very friendly , lovely building , nice ambience , food good but basic pub grub , room 10 amazing really comfy bed , great bathroom , lounge Woken by cleaner at 7.37 am hovering tile floor under our room , we had booked breakfast for 10 am separate charge , so went down early 9.25 am as been woken early , no staff there to serve breakfast even though states starts at 9 am , members of staff came in at 10 to do out breakfast , which was excellent but we where charged for teas and coffees on top of price of expensive breakfast
- Stuart (8/5): -
- Sophie (9/5): Very nice. Great breakfast and staff. - Location Suspicious stains on all chairs in suite
Trist … apparently nobody cared!?
- Margaret (5/5): A cramped room for two people but had all the facilities one would expect - Excellent location Really not a restaurant with rooms … more of a pub
- Melissa (9/5): A great stay - We had a lovely stay and the owner was very accommodating to all our requests. Lovely room right in the centre of Long Melford. We also had a nice lunch. Though we were aware at the time of booking, it would be great if they offered breakfast. This is something we really enjoy when we are away. I imagine it may not be worth it due to only having a few rooms and having to staff it.
- Maurice (9/5): Lovely - Easy to book, easy to
Check in, attentive staff N/A
- Sparrow (10/5): We enjoyed our short stay at the Swan, we loved our room because it was all original, the bed was comfortable and the s - Very old and had history, it’s the sort of building we love.. Nothing
- Lynda (3/5): Sorry but will not be using this hotel again - The location is great & having stayed there earlier, before the change of management, I knew the rooms were very nice & comfortable. I was given a very small room but they were able to offer me an upgrade, for an extra ÂŁ20, to a room I had stayed in earlier. On the website there are only 2 room choices, which should be amended. Sadly since my last stay there the standard has deteriorated, it is not as good as it was, which many locals had mentioned to me. I have friends that live in the village. I stayed 2 nights & was shocked to see my room was not cleaned on my 2nd day, even though on the website it clearly states DAILY HOUSEKEEPING. Checking with the manageress she informed me they clean only every 2 days & that was on the website ! There was no mention of breakfast on the website & on arrival I was informed it was an extra ÂŁ12.50 per person & had to order it for the following morning. On the following morning the Full English Breakfast arrived but the quality was not the best. Neither my friend or I managed to eat much of it. Overall I was very disappointed, especially with the attitude of the management, very little sympathy was shown.
- Danny (10/5): Short stay two couples, rooms were great and staff very helpful. - Lovely old building, bedrooms were a good size and well designed. Nothing
- Cannon (10/5): Great Hotel in a Great Location - Friendly and accommodating staff. Great Location, spacious rooms and a convenient rear courtyard. Parking spaces directly outside hotel. The room had the best shower I have used in a hotel ever in my life, both the water pressure and functions were fantastic. Was not impressed with the Tapas menu food ordered.
We have ate here before without issue / high praise, so just personal opinion vs the choice on this occasion.

- john (8/5): Nice relaxing stay .expected more for ÂŁ170 - Excellent room .all staff were excellent For price point needs a mini fridge .we were given the wrong room to start with .had to ask for the heating to be put on both nights.charged extra for cups of teas and coffee at breakfast.never had that happen before .expect more for ÂŁ170 a night and breakfast was extra
- Richard (1/5): Dissapointing - The rooms are better than average and clean. Staff where helpful. The menu came with a list of what was off the menu, only choices left were from a deep fat fryer. When my scampi and chips arrived it was overcooked.
There was no breakfast available (maybe my mistake) but it added to my feeling the Swan was a missed opportunity.
- Philip (10/5): Lovely stay which exceeded expectations. The room had a wow factor... - Room decor was wonderful. Location in High Street of busy village. The breakfast which was paid for separately was delicious. Lost of salmon in the Eggs Benny
- Glen (9/5): Nice - Everything Very nice
- Rosemary (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Lovely rooms and a nice pub - Loved the decor There was no breakfast
- Francesca (10/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): - Breakfast was unavailable which was a shame Include a breakfast - cooked and continental
- Susan (8/5): - Its a shame they don't offer breakfast
- Tracey (8/5): Great room and facilities but noisy - Character features. Lovely room and bathroom. Comfortable bed Very noisy from doors slamming outside, music and people on the street. It was Saturday night
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Ron (6/5): Decent place for one night - Good location No breakfast
- Charlotte (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Lovely pub in ideal spot. Friendly helpful staff. Room was good value and spotlessly clean. - Lovely pub, room was spotlessly clean. Very friendly helpful staff.
- Tracey (9/5): Lovely place to stay and would definitely come back. - The room was really clean and had everything you needed. Also I would recommend to eat in the pub as food was fab. The only thing is they don’t do a breakfast menu but they did recommend a few tea rooms in the high street.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and great hotel Nothing
- Simone (8/5): Very good - Room standard That there was no breakfast.
- Naomi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richardbre (10/5): excellent hotel - room was very clean and functional ,staff very helpful and courteous, good location nothing
- Jeremy (10/5): A great stay in a super-comfortable pub! - The pub is in a delightful historic building that's both located so conveniently in Long Melford and so well converted for comfortable modern living. The roll-top bath in the room made for a really relaxed and comfortable soak. All the staff were friendly and helpful. All good!
- Vivian (10/5): Very enjoyable. - All aspects. Room, location, restaurant. As it is a pub, it can be a bit noisy late at night.
- Frank (8/5): Very good - No breakfast available
- Lucie (7/5): Disappointed - The room was tiny and tired looking, carpet was stained, curtain would not open and there was 1 hook to hang your clothes, no other storage
- Fletcher (7/5): A great place to stay which looked aesthetically pleasing, but there were many things lacking from the staff and the cle - Lovely fixtures & fittings colour scheme great! Crumbs on floor, very cold as room not warmed before arrival.
Disappointing
Bedside lampshade was broken
- Natalia (10/5): Touch of luxury - Bit of luxury in a sleepy Long Melford. Stunning accommodation, lovely staff. Travelled for wedding anniversary, we got upgraded to Suite (room10)
The decor, cleanliness and comfort were all top notch. The steel bathtub in the bedroom was a talking point. Would 100% recommend. N/A
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - Lovely location beautiful room. Nothing
- Angela (6/5): Nice but with no breakfast option doesn’t work for a hotel B&B stop - Good location, nice room and friendly staff. Lack of breakfast. For the price you’d expect a breakfast option and nowhere nearby open on a Sunday morning despite assurances.
- Shona (10/5): Fabulous long weekend stay - Very comfortable bed, spotlessly clean, lovely bath, and plenty of natural light in the room
- Nathan (10/5): Nice stay, lovely place - Great pub. Very historic. Easy check in and comfortable room with a lovely bath and comfy bed. Everything nice and clean. Bathroom was very nice. Nice beer garden. No breakfast currently served. Owner did explain this may happen soon though. For the time being for them price I would put a continental breakfast in the room
- Stephen (3/5): Chaotic organisation of the hotel and very stressful. - The room and location were good Hotel didn’t serve breakfast and were only told this via a note in the room despite being called a B&B. Earliest breakfast wasn’t until 9.00 and long walk away. Had to leave via fire exit when pub was shut and couldn’t get back in until pub opened. Not given any check in instructions when we arrived.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (5/5): Lack of management on site and attention to paying guests. Spoilt our 2 day stay. - Nice room and comfy bed No breakfast at all. No staff on site overnight and awoken at 6 45 am by fire alarm . Poor fire evacuation procedures which has been discussed with owners. Ordered food only to be told 15 minutes later they didn't have it. Waited over an hour for meal after this and didn't follow my dietary requirements. Not happy!
- Melanie (8/5): Very good - Very cosy room. It would be nice to have a breakfast option.
- Mr (9/5): Superb - Well appointed roomsdecorated with a quirky shabby chic design. Clean bathroom with quality fittings (if you don't wish to use the bedroom bath). Good food available in the restaurant below. No breakfast available which is a shame since the evening meal was delicious. 10am checkout is too early when you have to go out for breakfast to places that don't open until 9am
- Donna (10/5): Extremely comfortable - Lovely property all through great attention to detail Quite expensive to not include any breakfast
- Sonia (8/5): Very good - Room and staff were great. Room not cleaned during stay and tea/coffee not replenished during stay.
- Trevor (10/5): Would recommend - Food and service was very good
Very friendly staff Very small tea/coffee cups in the room
A mug would have been excellent
- Clay (8/5): Lovely cottage in a wonderful town - Great location Nothing , it’s a lovely little cottage
- Johnnie (9/5): Lovely friendly stay in heart of Suffolk Village - Booked a room with our little dog between xmas and new year, Immediately greeted by very friendly manager who spotted our faces fall when told there was "some trouble with the heating in the room you've booked".... "but don't worry" he said "we've upgraded you to the suite"...PERFECT! And what a lovely suite it was, very quaint, copper bath in the bedroom, large modern shower room, and a separate sitting room, delightful. Had a lovely meal in part of the restaurant where dog was allowed to join us and spent rest of evening in the friendly bar, altogether a lovely experience. Can't think of anything!
- Lisa (9/5): Luxurious without the price tag - The bath in the bedroom was gorgeous, bed was huge, shower was amazing. Food was so good and all was really reasonably priced. Nothing
- Rod (9/5): Superb -
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): We arrived at The Swan on a freezing colds day and was delighted at the warm and friendly staff. - w
- Barry (4/5): Nice place but they need to sort out the heating in the winter months. - The place was very clean, the staff were helpful and the lunch on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday were very good. The room (#10 The Suite) was very cold when we arrived. I complained and the heating was turned up in the building but when we arrived back at the hotel at about 11.30pm, the heating had gone off and our rooms were freezing again. It didn't help that the radiator was behind thick curtains which covered a window out to the street which was left slightly open so they could run a cable out to light up the tree outside!
- Shaun (9/5): Nice pre Christmas break in Long Melford - Room was luxurious with gorgeous hot bath and comfy bed. Dinner was good. Would have liked more choices at breakfast. There was a very annoying banging door all evening just below our room.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Great boutique hotel - Lovely character and great location. Fab breakfast Nothing
- Robin (7/5): Excellent stay, can totally recommend! - Pretty much everything. Staff were excellent, room was lovely, bed super comfy and breakfast first rate! Hot tap plumbed in the wrong way, scolded ourselves first time using it.
Room was cold, warmed up after a while, but radiator was inadequate for the size of room.
- Michael (6/5): Clean and comfortable - Clean and comfortable Very disappointed that there was no breakfast
- James (9/5): Superb - lovely staff
- Claire (10/5): Perfect stay! Lovely staff, amazing food and beautiful room with fabulous bath. - Friendly staff
- Clare (9/5): Great stay in long Melford. Good quality interiors. Accommodating our dog also. Very clean. - Friendly staff and clean room. Well furnished. Pillows were uncomfortable.
- Paul (10/5): Great hotel pup and restaurant, excellent staff and attention to detail - Relaxed atmosphere very well maintained with great staff Nothing
- Tara (6/5): Lovely property but shame I could not sleep - Lovely old property with many beams, creaky staircases, full of character and tasteful furnishings. Full English breakfast was very nice. Staff were very friendly. Have stayed before. Unfortunately fire regulations have meant they have had to install ridiculously bright green lights on the inside of the bedrooms doors. I cannot sleep in light and hence was pretty tired and unhappy after 2 nights, what a shame.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (8/5): Very good - Comfortable and well-equipped room. Helpful staff. Nothing
- Sara (9/5): Amazing service at stunning property - Stunning room, amazing en-suite.

- Carol (10/5): Little gem - This was a last minute break, and I was impressed with the room and how friendly the staff were, nothing was too much trouble, we stayed in room 6 this was very comfortable , I would definitely recommend
- Malcolm (8/5): Ok but good have been better. - Locaton was good. S dissappointed to be told 1 day before arrival that resturant closed .
However they did make us a reservation at another pub.
Cooked breakfast not available till 09.00 was laso a draw back.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Claire (9/5): Superb - Really lovely 1 night stay in a cosy room with a very comfortable bed. Great location, staff snd restaurant. I’d highly recommend.
- Nick (8/5): Lovely old Inn-Ideal for visiting this part of Suffolk - Cooked breakfast was excellent and service was friendly, helpful and personable.
Bedrooms were comfortable if a little quirky (historical property) and a good shower. Double rooms with only one chair always annoy me personally.
Unfortunately the restaurant and bar were closed during our stay (Mon/Tues) but alternative venues were available nearby.
The manager was extremely welcoming and personable but the property is up 'For Let' so I'd do some checking before booking over the coming months. Not convinced paying extra for Tea at breakfast is something that should be welcomed!
- Sandra (10/5): Very happy with the accommodation and the food but especially how lovely all the staff are ! - Breakfast was nice and all the staff were very helpful and very friendly. Everything was perfect for our stay.
- Mike (9/5): Superb - Nice room and
