Guest Reviews
- Roger (8/5): - Nice room ,comfortable and tidy good bathroom .
Good food and very good service.
- Vernon (10/5): - Excellent evening meal and breakfast.
- J (10/5): - Really good basic pub/hotel friendly staff perfect for stop over
- Edward (10/5): - We were leaving to early for breakfast but as a gesture, the hotel provided you with a packed lunch, which was fantastic. Great service
- John (10/5): - The staff are really friendly and helpful. Evening meal was great and the breakfast and breakfast chef could not have been better.
The team there really do go the extra mile.
Small niggle TV in the room is small but on the plus side does have a DVD player.
- Helen (10/5): - Pleasant room, very clean, great staff.
Super breakfast, so excellent value
- Dawn (8/5): - The Inn is also a pub. When we arrived it was filled with people due to a darts and pool tournament. We were shown to our room (Pig room). It was comfortable. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the pub. Food was excellent. It was quite loud in the pub until around 11:30pm. We slept well.
In the morning we went down for breakfast (included in the cost of the room). Again, food and service was excellent!!!
- Suzanne (10/5): Just 1 night - 1 night stop off passing through after a tour of wales homeward bound
- Zoe (8/5): Great food, nice rooms at a competitive price. - Friendly staff, all the amenities you need in the room, but could do with a lick of paint. Bed slightly uncomfortable and room quite stuffy with no open windows, but manageable. Food was outstanding and breakfast service was fabulous. We are planning to try the sister pubs and return here to eat again. A little gem really and imagine on a sunny day, it would be wonderful to sit out in the garden.
- Renata (8/5): - Staff very friendly and family welcome. I did like that it was big balcony for smoking and looking for the stars. I was impress for activities you can do, like big library all over the please, you can play pool, darts, chest …. Room big for family, it needs to do cosmetic painting, no smell, beads was comfy and sheets clean. It not the best installation for walls or doors, if you like to have quiet evening. But over all I liked. Food portions is big and suppose local farm provider's. We enjoyed the breakfast, that you have pre-order bee for 9pm. Food taste was really nice, fresh juice and milk , I was impress's how tasty was. Thank you for good memory's.
- Keith (10/5): Enjoyable stay - Lovely stay …staff were so friendly and helpful..food was amazing great value
- tim (10/5): Easy going and friendly. - Great place to stay, parked motorbike at the front to the right, all good. Nice ales and food was very good. Breakfast was made by a dedicated chef who has worked there for 15 years. Cannot find fault. Only minor thing was the bathroom was smelly in the Horse room, maybe a sewerage leak or something, but looks spotless.
- Julia (10/5): Great place to stay - Food was really good catered for my allergies gluten free /dairy free. Breakfast was really good , you order the night before , all very hot
- joseph (10/5): - GREAT STAFF GOOD FOOD . NICE PLACE TO STAY . HIGHLT RECOMMENDED
- Joel (10/5): - This was a little out of the way but well worth it.
- Jenny (8/5): Good little hotel. - A great place to come for a night stay when attending a wedding.
Good location for where we needed to be.
Big rooms- we had a family room with a double sofa bed and double bed. Lovely shared balcony area.
Staff were super helpful and breakfast was yummy.
Good value for the price.
- Claire (10/5): - Pleasant stay. Lots of free parking.
Above a nice pub.
Outside the room window was an air conditioning unit or generator which meant it was too noisy to leave the window open which was a shame as it was a warm day.
Apart from that I’d recommend and stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fabulous couple of days - Amazing food in the restaurant, comfortable spacious room with lovely communal terrace. Very clean. Only downfall was on night 1 the pub alarm went off at midnight and 3am and as no staff sleep on site, we just had to put up with it which resulted in a sleepless night
- Adam (10/5): Loweland inn. - Big clean room. Comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent.
- gareth (10/5): - Really nice place, rooms were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was A+
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was very clean, also a good selection of teas and coffee ( above average ).
The food was very good we had a lovely evening meal there, also breakfast you had a great choice of menu.
- Gary (10/5): The Lowfield Inn Review - The Inn was excellent in all respects.
The duty Manager was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was as we expected.
The other staff were also very warm and helpful, food was also first class.
- Shan (10/5): Amazing - Amazing that there’s a mini fridge, I can keep my drinks cool. Easy parking, nice staff and excellent breakfast.
- Tara (10/5): Outstanding service at a lovely inn. - Great place. Staff are super welcoming and the management have thought of everything to make your stay smooth and cared for. Nice sit out area on the rooms floor overlooking the inn. Great food in the restaurant and they provide a trayed continental breakfast if the standard hours don’t work for your schedule.
- Brian (10/5): - Excellent service from the staff, food outstanding.
- Sally (8/5): A great find - Friendly check in, room was very comfortable, lovely bathroom, good selection of beverages
Had breakfast & dinner there too which were both excellent - great choice and very tasty!
Would definitely stay here again
- Faye (10/5): Very nice - Service excellent, nice clean room & lovely breakfast
- Claire (10/5): - We loved our stay at this property. We had dinner in the pub and the food was delicious and very generous portions, friendly staff and a room with pool table, darts and games for children.
Room was large, comfortable and very clean.
Breakfast was amazing! You preorder the night before and can select as many items as you want from an extensive list!!
Would highly recommend and would stay again if ever in the area again.
- Julie (10/5): The Lowfield Inn - Visiting family on Saturday 7th June for a week so decided to go a day earlier and stayed at the Lowfield Inn and thoroughly enjoyed the stay the room was very nice and comfortable. We had a very nice meal with a drink and all the staff were very friendly and helpful The breakfast was nice and if we are up this way again we will certainly stay again.
- Mary Elizabeth (8/5): View - I was expecting more of a view of the countryside plus somewhere to walk from the inn.
Not shown on the advert. The inn was inbetween two industrial units.
- Richard (10/5): Handy countryside bolt-hole - Comfortable stay in a very good-sized room. We stayed in the Cockerel room (they are all individual and animal-themed), which also has a sofa bed and views out to the hills.
Outside the rooms, there's an upstairs lounge and balcony, with books to peruse, in a nice touch.
Very much enjoyed the plentiful breakfast, cooked to order with a wide variety of items from full fry-up to smoked salmon and kippers.
Liked the beer range, which included Purple Moose.
More books to borrow in the bar!
Anyone looking for the pub needs to know it's a little out of Marton village and keep going past the national speed limit signs.
One potential improvement could have been a shelf or unit for putting toiletries when using the bathroom sink. Otherwise v happy and top marks. It's in a great location for exploring Shropshire and the Welsh borders.
- Sian (6/5): - This place had really good food reviews which is why we decided to stay the night as well instead of driving for 2.5 hours home after visiting Powis castle. also eat there. The staff were very friendly but my heart sank a little as we climbed the very threadbare (complete with holes) stairs to the rooms. Everywhere could do with a good lick of paint. The room itself was a good size but it was tired and there was stale aroma. The pink towels were ragged and threadbare. Our hope of a ‘treat’ evening were dashed and we decided to head home. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and I felt awkward for them. Just a little TLC would have made this a real gem of a place.
- Graham (10/5): - The staff all employed locally. Very friendly, attentive, knowledgable, good humoured and all ready to go above and beyond to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing with apparently no limit on what you could eat. Yoghurt with fruit and honey, cereals, full English, vegetarian options, etc. Order on tick list the night before, and chef serves you directly to your specific orders. Bar food and restaurant food excellent, with soup-, pie- and curry-of-the-day; they even have a takeaway clientele. The seating area is very large with many places to tuck yourself away and eat in peace. Lots of book shelves; a wonderful place to spend an evening just reading if you wish. Well stocked bar with lagers, ciders and beers. Pool and darts area sectioned off if you are feeling athletic. Upstairs the room was light, spacious with a lovely en suite, television, hair dryer, fridge, jars full of tea bags, coffee and hot chocolate sachets; you could comfortably spend hours in the room itself. Also upstairs are more book shelves and a communal balcony with table and chairs overlooking the pretty garden. Plenty of parking space in the car park. A wonderful, relaxing place to stay reflecting amazing value for money. Couldn't recommend this stopover highly enough!
- Henry (10/5): - Room was spacious with a lovely bathroom and the food was absolutely amazing.
- T C (8/5): Tims Stay - Generally OK. However, the pillows were poor quality and affected my sleep.
Also the Sheep room has a skylight window that cannot be covered. Consequently I was woken up by sunlight streaming through the window at 05:00am and could not get back to sleep.
- Christopher (10/5): - Amazing Inn Staff very friendly indeed they could do enough for us Food was excellent value for money great
- Courtney (10/5): - Lovey property and wonderful staff! Would definitely stay again.
- Jane (10/5): a very nice inn - A lovely Inn. The welcome was very warm and everything explained well.
Comfortable rooms with plenty of space.
An excellent breakfast .
If we had to be in the area again we would stay here again.
- Robert (10/5): - Great food, easy parking, comfortable room
- Bikramjit singh (10/5): Very good - Friendly staff and delicious food
- Michael (2/5): The worst in my full 53 years - Wouldn’t recommend any 1 stay hear the staff is rude refusing me to stay because I was 5 minutes late to land to stay with my family and kids we needed to get another hotel
- Steve (10/5): Excellent - Service and friendliness was excellent. Location was very quiet, room was comfortable and good was very good. We will be back.
- Dave (10/5): - Food was amazing.
Room was very spacious
Overall i would definitely stay again.
- GEORGE EDWARD GRAHAM (10/5): - The meals and drink provided were excellent.
- Duncan (10/5): - Very nice room and food
- Robert (10/5): - Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff, room was very clean and the food served is well above average pub food, in fact the food is more like restaurant quality than a pub, have been to The Lowfield many times and never been disappointed and wouldn't hesitate to visit again
- Andy (10/5): - Extremely polite, helpful and attentive service which was a very pleasant surprise as it was my first visit
- Robert (10/5): Great accommodation - Great value accommodation, the evening menu is varied and very reasonably priced, we had curries which were delicious, good selection of beers and lagers .
The breakfast which was included is brilliant, you select what you want the night before and it includes cereals, full English, fish and yoghurt and fruit.
The bed was comfortable, room and en-suite very clean.
This is a great place to stay
- Robert (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and professional, meals were good
- Eifiona (10/5): - Lovely food, nice staff
- Tessa (10/5): - Was lovely and cute for what we needed, lovely views. Doesn’t have anything around it so will need transport to get around. Lovely spacious rooms and very clean
Breakfast was lovely and very personable
- Annie (10/5): - Very reasonable, friendly staff, large spacious room evening meal available and
- Helen (10/5): - Lovely friendly staff. Nice clean and comfortable room. Food was great and well priced and the best breakfast ever. Thank you.
- Robert (6/5): - Excellent food, accommodation needs drastic update.
- Clive (8/5): - Lovely area. Comfortable. Pleasant staff. Had problems with flies when I was eating.
- Paul (8/5): Friendly inn amidst the hills - Staff were friendly and efficient and showed me to the Cow room at the back of the property with a nice view of the hills. Dinner was great - an extensive menu to choose from. A good breakfast was provided the next day; I really like omelettes and this inn made a good one. There is plenty of parking. I would definitely return if in the area.
- John (8/5): - Friendly and helpful
- Julia (8/5): - We had a spacious, comfortable room. We also sat awhile in the 'sunroom'. We had a delicious evening meal and a wonderful breakfast! All staff were really friendly and helpful.
- Christopher (10/5): - Enjoyable stay good service excellent food especially the breakfast.
Room nice and clean
- David (8/5): - The inn Was very rural nothing close to it but it was very clean and the staff were super and very helpful. Meals there were lovely.
- Sandeep (10/5): - Staff was professional and friendly. Excellent rooms, wonderful breakfast. Really recommend.
- Geoffrey (8/5): Wedding anniversary celebration - We went for just one night for our golden wedding anniversary. The hotel was closeby to where our family live. The food was excellent.
- Kathryn (10/5): An amazing find - far surpassed our expectations - We booked this fairly last minute to break a long car journey from South East England to North Wales. We booked largely on convenience of location and price, and were encouraged by the positive reviews we read. But our expectations were vastly exceeded by the excellent experience we had in every way. The girl who welcomed us at check in couldn't have been friendlier; we had a lovely family room for the price with a well stocked hospitality tray and little themed extras and access to a comfy seating area and balcony with country views. The room was quiet and we'd never have known we were above a pub. As for breakfast, what can I say. The most amazing selection; full English, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, poached egg and kippers, omelette, fruit, yoghurt and honey, home made preserves and sauces. Unlimited choices and all cooked to order and served by the friendly staff in a pleasant conservatory area. Probably one of the best breakfasts we've ever had, including in much more expensive establishments. We'll definitely be back!
- Nathan (10/5): 👍👍👍 - Really nice staff. Rooms immaculate. There’s beautiful views from the hotel, for the money. It’s incredible really. Would highly recommend
- Lynne (10/5): - Good value for money
Friendly welcoming staff
Spacious clean room
Lovely bar area
Sandwiches crisps and drinks provided instead of breakfast for our early start.
Would stay here again
- IAN (10/5): - Nice views
- Jason (10/5): Excellent service - Excellent service and great conditions as always.
- Kelly (10/5): - We stayed for a wedding just up the road, we had a lovely time, food was excellent and staff were really friendly and helpful
- Jennifer (10/5): Will definitely stay again. - Highly recommend. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Good value for money.
We spent one night after attending a wedding elsewhere.
Large, clean and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast - served in the dining room area opening out on to a well kept garden.
The pub area was large and inviting.
Two small drawbacks - no teaspoons at the tea / coffee station in the bedroom and some of the pillows rather hard and lumpy.
- Becky (10/5): Perfect, highly recommend - Highly recommend. There aren’t many hotels that truely go out to cater for the travelling worker.
Breakfast brought to my room as I had to leave early, pack up lunch offered for onward travel.
The room was a great size with a desk. A lovely shared balcony seated area for the rooms away from the hub of the bar. Will definitely be back. Thank you
- Kathleen (8/5): - Online stayed overnight but had an excellent evening meal and breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful
- Joyce (10/5): - The standard of the property was excellent, very clean and well presented.
- naveed (10/5): - A bit out of the way from any major town but quiet, good location and not parking restrictions.
- William (10/5): - very easy going and exellent location to explore the surrounding area.
- John (10/5): - Convenient stop over traveling from south Wales to Derbyshire and hats off to the chefs 👩🍳 👏 the food was amazing
- Robert (4/5): - Not ideal for a business visitor, breakfast not available until 08:30. Even then, there was literally nobody around at 08:30. All lights off and doors locked. After setting the intruder alarm off, I left the room key on the bar and set about trying to find an exit. Front door locked with no fire exit handle. Eventually found a fire exit to rear. Glad I didn’t have to try find an exit in an emergency. Perhaps I should have been given exit instructions? (I wasn’t). Didn’t have dinner after over hearing a diner returning theirs. Room was fine other than very flat or bumpy pillows. Wouldn’t recommend. Won’t be returning.
- GODFREY (8/5): - Excellent food
- tom (10/5): Great place to stay for the money - Just a really nice place to stay for the very reasonable money
- Janet (10/5): Lowfield is great! - My friend and I stayed at the Lowfield for two nights. My birthday fell after our first night's stay and we booked an evening meal to celebrate my birthday. After giving an overall excellent rating for the review topic I can include an excellent for a wonderful meal. The Lowfield is a jewel set in superb countryside and is great value for money. Maybe should change its name to Highfield!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Great welcome from walking through the door. Good service at evening meal and breakfast and great food. Everything needed in the room and an outside balcony for the use of all guest staying.
- Jill (10/5): Excellent stay - It was an excellent stay from start to finish. Staff helpful and welcoming, the room had everything I needed and the breakfast was great. I was sorry I was only staying one night. Thank you Lowfield.
- Jason (8/5): Great place to stay - Realy helpful staff. Quiet and clean facilities and rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - Clean and tidy.
Bed was comfortable.
Shower was weak,
Quiet location except that there was fan from the pub's kitchen that ran all evening and kept coming on at night which meant we didn't sleep well in our room.
Continental breakfast was adequate.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Great value, excellent breakfast
- Martin (10/5): - Excellent value for money. Friendly and helpful staff. Large room with everything you need. Good food and breakfast from the restaurant below. Would recommend to anyone!
- antonietta (10/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast choices. Good meal at night.
The only very small negative was the t.v. was too small for the size of our bedroom, which was very comfortable.
Would definitely recommend.
- Diana (10/5): - The room in lowfield inn was very comfortable clean and surprisingly large. The breakfast was great so we had an excellent mini break. We will definately stay here again. Thank you to all the helpful staff .
- Gerald (8/5): - Didn’t realise that a large factory next door which was bit noisy in the morning. Food good and presented well. Staff friendly and attentive. Room a good size with every thing that most would like to be present. Very clean and modern. Steep stairs to reach bedroom. Nice en-suite bathroom.
- Jason (10/5): Friendly and good value for money - I stayed for one night on business and found the location to be great, the staff all very courteous, and the room very clean and tidy with good facilities. Will stay again and would highly recommend.
- Trevor (10/5): - Only stayed for one night lovely polite staff, room was excellent lovely food and a great breakfast all in the price book in here and you won't be disappointed I would definitely stay here again well done to all the staff at the Lowfield Inn
- Sally (10/5): Excellent service from staff - Couldn't have asked for a nicer team to look after us during our stay. We were stuck for transport to a local wedding and something was quickly sorted out for us by the manager.
The accommodation itself was fantastic super comfortable and clean. The breakfast the next day was superb.
Id love to stay here again soon.
- Alice (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, friendly and helpful staff! Amazing food!! Highly recommend!
- Tom (8/5): nice but cold - food was excellent. however there was no heating when we woke up and had to have cold showers as they forgot to switch heating over! it was minus temperatures outside.
- Robert (8/5): - A nice pub with large, clean well equipped rooms, in a very beautiful location. (Watch the roads in bad weather though as they can be slippy)!!
Service was good - especially evening team, and the food in the bar was excellent.
Could do with a little updating here and there but on the whole - very nice.
I was unfortunate enough to be there when the boiler failed overnight so there was no heating in the room or hot water but these things happen.
- Rosaline (10/5): WOW - Not been for some time, because not staying in area. Only one way to describe our stay WOW.
Especially superb was dinner and breakfast, Charlie is a credit to this establishment.
Nearly didn't write this review as they only have 5 bedrooms and don't want them to become too popular.
- Robert (10/5): - The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. There was a good variety of food on offer both for and evening meal and breakfast. The food was well cooked and well presented.
We thought the room was excellent value for money.
- Kevan (10/5): - Great place to stop over for work. Highly recommend
- Heather (10/5): - Lovely clean rooms, comfy beds and amazing breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for solo overnight trip - Staff welcoming and efficient. Spacious room and bathroom. Large parking area next to Inn. Quiet at night. Food OK.
- Christopher (10/5): One of the best - A little gem. Close to Powys Castle surrounded by stunning Welsh borders views. The pub has a fabulous traditional feel, oak beams wood burning stove polished bar and an extensive range of drinks - even if I'm wrong about fire or beams that was the ambience - and extememly helpful and welcoming staff. The room (pig room) was generous in size, good shower and toilet facilities and a comfortable bed - only negative point, no window in the wall because the room is in the eves so a velux in the ceiling but apparently some of teh other rooms do have window. The evening meal was of generous proportions and I particularly liked the grilled cauliflower starter and teh steak and ale pie my brother had looked spot on. Breakfast the next day was excellent, with homemade black pudding and perfect sausage.
This is the most effusive review I have ever written but the experience deserved it. I shall ceratinly be returning and would highly recommend to anyone in the Shrewsbury / Welshpool area
