- Craig (10/5): -
- Thorsten (9/5): -
- Timothy (8/5): -
- Limin (9/5): - The breakfast was excellent Mattresses could be better
- Irene (5/5): Cold showers and epileptic slumbers - Quaint and antiquey No hot water in the evening or in the morning and the smoke detector was right over the bed and flashing all night (impossible to sleep).
- Kathleen (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic bed and breakfast. One of the best we have stayed in. Loved it. - It was a quiet and beautiful bed and breakfast. The staff was great showing us around and even put us in a different room to accommodate my wife. Someone making our morning breakfast was a special touch. Loved how I felt at home sitting in the living room and relaxing. It was a fabulous stay and we will go again. Room did not have enough outlets but we made do.Fa
- Jessie (9/5): -
- Cathi (10/5): The Spencer House is beginning to feel like a home away from home. - The Spencer House is within walking distance to the Cumberland Island ferry and is very quiet, comfortable, and relaxing.
I love the breakfast with hot cooked eggs made to order and homemade items. Also, fresh flowers decorate the already beautiful decor of the Inn. I can’t think of anything that I disliked.
- Dwight (10/5): Most enjoyable o -
- Kristen (10/5): Great stay! - Quiet, clean, friendly staff, loved elevator. Needed space heater at night and didn't have one in room or anyone to ask.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Memorable and begging for a return ❤️ - Lisa and Sofia greeted us and then Miss Penny, all in an upbeat, pleasant way!
The Inn was exceptional in every way. Beautifully restored, comfortable and with every connivence available. It was located close to the harbor. Not a thing.
- Karon (8/5): I enjoyed it, but did seem a bit expensive for such a small room and queen size bed - location, charm of facility only had two hand towels. Did not have bath towels. I came in late Saturday evening, so I could not ask for bath towels.
- Walter (9/5): -

- Ronnie (8/5): We had a good time, no matter the circumstances around us. - It was right in the center of things going on. The room was tiny! It was in the middle of being painted and being worked on We would have like a heads up to make up our minds if we still wanted to come.
- Victoria (10/5): This B&B has so much to offer! - The living room was comfortable with nice decor. The room was clean, with plenty of storage.
- Ralph (10/5): - Penny is an amazing host! Would stay again.
- D (10/5): - Beautiful old house. I loved the new fountain in the side garden!
- simpson (9/5): My friend recommended you guys to me and I’m so very glad she did! It was a very pleasant stay. - The location was excellent being walking distance from the things I wanted to see. Breakfast was so very good and the staff so very pleasant. Nothing comes to mind!
- Francisco (10/5): - Your app is not friendly. I tried to change the date and I couldnt
- Richard (10/5): - The style of the house, location, and the staff was the best. Nothing
- George (8/5): Delightful facility, friendly, helpful staff; Very enjoyable! - Excellent!
- Melissa (10/5): - Absolutely loved the lady at the front desk. She made my birthday trip extra special! Enjoyed the stay & visiting Cumberland island. Very cute place.
- JOHN (10/5): -
- Jack D. (10/5): - Really nice people who go the extra mile to insure your stay is outstanding.
- Jana (4/5): Disappointed - Very cute with a great location. Good breakfast! The hotel only had 2 other occupied rooms. They put us on the 3rd floor with a bed shoved against the wall which makes it impossible to get out of with two people without waking other person up. I requested 2 times no feather pillows, they even called and confirmed no feather pillows. Upon arrival, all pillows in the room were feather. They offered wine to buy then had a sign in the same room not to consume in public sitting room. Only has 2 outside chairs.
- Rick (9/5): This is a great place to relax, refresh, and recharge under the care of an attentive staff. - The breakfast was varied in selection with pastries, breads, cereal etc. but in addition made accommodation for a customized hot meal of bacon/sausage and eggs.
The staff was universally friendly, helpful, and paid attention to every detail. We celebrated our 48th Wedding Anniversary while here and the staff took pains to extend a special touch to our celebration. The city is quaint and holds a special place in history. A ferry trip to Cumberland Island is a must. Be sure to take the van tour. The sleeping room was a bit small which is typical of a period hotel of era but the common area makes up for it.
- Charles (9/5): -
- Tawny (10/5): - Beautiful building with lovely common areas. We loved the history. We would definitely return.
- Stacie (10/5): -
- Katrin (8/5): Being a night in charming world! - The place has an old style charm of the south. We really enjoyed that. Beautiful garden flowers all over the house. We had a very large room with a cast iron bathtub. That was fun! Very convenient to walk to all the restaurant and the picturesque shoreline. We will come a third time. The AC vents on the floor were loud for me as a European. My husband didn’t mind (American). Also it was blowing constantly and definitely for me too cold. I put a pillow on them and it was much better. Breakfast was nice but the lady who served it was not too friendly.
- Joy (10/5): - The bed in this room was fabulous! The property was well-kept, and beautifully maintained. Highly recommend.
- Alexa (8/5): Great Option for Cumberland Island Getaway - Excellent breakfast options. Close proximity to Cumberland Island ferry. Many restaurants, parks & other attractions in the immediate area. Hotel provided packed lunch for our trip to Cumberland Island, which was awesome! Seems like the hotel is short staffed. Had to wait for someone to address basic requests for ice, towels, etc. Water in shower got cold in like five minutes.
- Kelleen (6/5): - The bed was so uncomfortable.
The room was freezing. Went to ask for a blanket. No one answered at the front desk.
Only got to stay for one night. Asked for a refund for the 2nd night. Was charged a larger amount for the 2nd night even though we left at 9: AM. Staff ( the kitchen staff and maid) said they would contact the owner or manager about us leaving and wanting a refund- and we never heard back from them.
- Sophia (10/5): - Very warm and friendly staff and excellent condition of the rooms, each one with its own character and distinción. Careful attention to the quality of linens, towels and little things that show the owners and staff care about the property and the guest satisfaction.
- Jacquelyn (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Beautiful, historic Inn - Staff were great. Very informative, gave us a tour of the Inn and tried to help us however they could. Beautiful place with all period furniture. Our room was very nice and a nice location close to the docks. Booking.com stated it was about 11 miles from Amelia Island . It ended up being over 30 miles and taking nearly an hour to get there. This was nothing to do with the Spencer Inn but mi'srepresentation on the web site.
- Jennifer (10/5): - The staff was so incredibly helpful and friendly. The bed in room 302 was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
- Leslie (9/5): Superb - Beautiful bed and breakfast with wonderful staff. Great way to start our Cumberland island adventure
- Joseph (9/5): Beautiful property, excellent breakfast, great staff and location. - The inn was beautiful. The breakfast offered many options and was in lovely room. Loved the age and architecture of the building. The staff were sincerely welcoming and friendly. If I recall correctly, I read in the Q& A portion of your site that this Inn did not allow pets yet there was a couple with their dog staying at the Inn. Do they or don't they allow pets? This question should be answered for every property you advertise. I never stay at a pet friendly property and would not have stayed here had I known ahead of time. That being said, I enjoyed my experience there.
- Salim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hood (10/5): Exceptional - This is our 2nd time coming here and it is very nice.
They serve A Great Breakfast to get you started for The Day and there is plenty of things to do .
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diana (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (9/5): Just a lovely place to stay. - This property is well maintained and well appointed. Lisa who set up and made the breakfast did an excellent job. The staff we had contact with are all very friendly. We picked a room where the bed was up against the wall which makes it difficult, as older people, to get in and out of. Also there was a slight sag in the middle of the mattress. The other rooms we peeked into looked perfect and we would definitely pick one of them.
- Mike (8/5): - I was just disappointed, I thought we had a claw tub in our room according to the internet and called to get some bath salts. I also called and asked about bathrobes. On the phone they were all helpful but the room had been recently upgraded and the claw tub was gone, no bath salts, no bathrobes. Wish the staff had just said we don’t do that so downgraded one star.
- Susan (8/5): Spacious double room filled with lovely antiques, a bodacious delicious breakfast filled with delights and special extra - Beautiful surroundings, most comfortable bed ever!, superior breakfast; fresh raspberries, blue berries and black berries, eggs made to order, and orange and lemon water daily. May have been no fault of the staff but a prior customer stole both blankets and all of the coffee from the coffee pot. However, staff should have discovered this before my stay.
Honestly the property was excellent!
- Jayne (10/5): Hidden Gem - Our stay was an overnight stop on our way to Savannah. We were pleasantly surprised by the Spencer House Inn.
Inn was situated in a charming little town and was everything that we were looking for. Would definitely return.
- Frances (10/5): - Very quiet. Room was perfect. Towels lux! BUT...I wish the staff (not kitchen) was more visible. I found myself hunting them. Breakfast was wonderful. Continental and eggs cooked to order and delish. They can also accommodate you if you arrive after 8 pm food wise. It's absolutely beautiful. Many rooms to choose from. Lovely living room and wrap around porch. Perfect if spending the day at Cumberland Island and you don't want to drive home. They can also pack you a lunch to take with you! Will come back for sure.
- Lilly (7/5): Good - Nice location, cute place with friendly reception and refreshments and coffee offered self service. Tub in our room was a claw tub mounted on a small pedestal, covered in carpet. The configuration made it difficult to get in the tub. Can't imagine someone older trying to navigate it. I assume the carpet was placed there to make it less slippery.
- Yvonne (10/5): - Beautiful property. Breakfast was delicious!
- Robert (8/5): Quiet, pleasant staff and great location. - It was convenient to town. It had an elevator.
The breakfast was excellent the mattress has seen better days. very soft to the point I almost rolled off the bed 3 times during the night.
- Terry (10/5): - Elevator was handy. Breakfast was good.
- Kathy (8/5): Charming old inn with friendly service - Old world charm, friendly service Property showing a little wear and tear
- Darrell (10/5): - We enjoyed our visit!! Everything was excellent, specially the staff!
- Janice (3/5): Poor -
- Edward (10/5): This bed and breakfast went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. My wife and I don’t really like to chat a lot s - Very nice and in an awesome location by the docks. 5 minute walk to the docks where the wife and I sat to look at the boats and the people. Very cute town and would recommend on an east road trip.
- Scotty (10/5): - Excellent service and property.
- Angela (7/5): Great hotel near Cumberland - Very beautiful house, stellar dinner service, chef is great. Penny the innkeeper was fabulous, warm, welcoming . We had booked a different room but apparently the plumbing didn't work, so we had to be moved to room 300, this room faces the street and was incredibly noisy due to a bar down the street that had outdoor music . Other rooms appeared to be substantially larger as well. Bed was so soft which is not a good thing if you have low back pain. Woman running the breakfast service was visibly stressed out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Some issues with late arrival and room number and key number not matching and poor initial follow-up. Staff did provide follow-up to compensate for situation. Breakfast was good but standard rooms and beds are small.
- Victoria (10/5): Stay in this 1872 house is Worthwhile - Friendly hosts in a grand 19th century house. Wonderful breakfast. Walking over to take the ferry to the reowned Cumberland Island takes only a few minutesutes. Great restaurants with views of St. Marys River. Hosts were super gracious and helpfull. Worth our stay. Highly recommended. N/A
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Michael (9/5): Nice place to stay -
- Brian (10/5): - Beautiful property and comfortable beds . Penny at the front desk was great
- Jenifer (8/5): - Penny at the front desk was so sweet and helpful. I ended up getting food poisoning from something at breakfast there. I thought the fruit tas
- Matt (8/5): - Staff was friendly & helpful, great location.
- John (8/5): - Great staff, nice atmosphere
- Heather (10/5): We had a relaxing weekend in St. Mary's thanks to the Spencer House Inn. - On the evening that we arrived, the inn was hosting a special Valentine's Day dinner that included a 3 course meal and live music. My friend and I had not eaten dinner yet and the friendly woman working the reception desk said that they could fit us in even though we did not have a reservation. It was delicious!
The room was clean, beds very comfortable; our room didn't have much of a view but that was not important to us.
The inn is in a perfect location for walking around the cute town and accessing other activities like biking, kayaking, shopping, catching the ferry to Cumberland Island, dining, etc. Or, you can grab a book and read or enjoy people watching from the wonderful front porch.
- Julie (2/5): - I arrived at 2:00 check in is 3:00 even though I was called and told my room would be ready earlier. They said it was ready but it’s $30.00 to check in the hour early even though the room was ready. It was pouring down rain out she said just go walk around for a hour then if you don’t want to pay the $30.00 extra for the one hour early. So I left in pouring down rain and waited till check in. The rest of my stay was very uneventful. I hardly saw anybody and no one spoke to me except for at breakfast. No ice machine, no drinks. They did serve dinner but some meals average 60.00 a plate. Breakfast was continental except for you could have an egg and bacon or sausage. I tried one of the pastries, I didn’t care for it. I would not go back

- Susannah Hills (8/5): - A lovely old building in a relaxed liitle town with a lot going on for its size. I'm sure the dinner at the hotel must be good but we loved Locals, which has a lovely view and the best hushpuppies ever. I recommend a walk around - it was very peaceful when we were there. There are vintage stores with great selections nearby.
- Carole (10/5): - Quiet and roomy accommodations with a helpful and warm staff. We loved our stay at Spencer House, and St. Mary’s was a lovely little town to explore before and after our day on Cumberland Island. Great seafood at Locals too.

We loved the breakfast that they made to our order. The dining room was so beautiful! We stayed at this home to be near the boat dock for the Cumberland Island tour. We also were able to walk to nearby restaurants. We will definitely stay here again as our stay was so amazing and we felt like we were family. Everything was perfect.

- Johnnie (8/5): Super close to Cumberland Island Ferry - Lovely setting, great walkability to restaurants, and the Cumberland Island Ferry. The bed was too soft and squishy. We kept sinking into the mattress. I booked a river view, but the whole house is inland. There are no river views anywhere.

- Sharon (10/5): - We were warmly greeted and all staff were kind, gracious, and very service-focused. The rooms are great. Bed was a little too soft for me, and I would have liked to have an extra blanket.
We had dinner here and it was fantastic! Everything homemade. The wine, although limited selection, was good quality. Everyone in our party was happy!
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sunny (4/5): Expensive for what you get. - The people are very friendly. The property is very clean. Very small quiet town. Close to Amelia Island. Eggs and bacon is not an acceptable breakfast every day at a B&B. Especially when it is advertised as a very different experience.
