- Sussan (9/5): Cute & stylish hotel with great communal areas to relax, and suburb rooftop views. - The main communal room was a great space. Given that the rooms are more basic and small (all you need for sleeping really, so no complaints), we enjoyed sitting in our group on the couches and enjoying a self-catered platter and glass of bubbles before going out. As well as tea afterwards made in the kitchen. The outside rooftop space and views were also exceptional. We had a drink there after our night out. The lift door forcibly closed on me and hurt my shoulder. Not sure why it doesn’t have sensors, but that seems to be a hazard.

Huge lounge floor with lots of comfy seating/eating areas and kitchen with coffee machines and tea etc available 24hrs, as is the lobby bar open all night with night managers. Fab stay, thankyou.

The room did not have tea and coffee making facilities but there was 24hr access to a great coffee machine and tea making in the very homely comfortable lounge which I preferred. There is a roof top sitting area. You can borrow bikes for free with locks and helmets. It is a modern hotel boutique style. It was noisy in the evenings due to a live music bar opposite. It didn’t bother me and ear plugs were provided but if you are sensitive to noise this might not be the place for you.

- CATARINA (8/5): Bon hotel à Perth, dans un quartier animé! - Nous avons beaucoup aimé les espaces communs, l'espace lobby et mezzanine sont très agréables. L'hotel est bien situé dans le quartier de Northfield tout en étant proche à pied du centre et de la marina. Petit déjeuner de qualité et personnel très agréable. Chambre sont propres, décorées de manière design mais cela manque de rangements (pas un seul placard...) et il manque le coté cosy qu'on retrouve dans le reste de l'hotel, quand on reste une semaine c'est dommage de devoir garder ses affaires dans une valise. Quartier animé, c'est bruyant les vendredis, samedis et dimanches soirs.

- Chase (6/5): Nice, but let down by basic things that are easy to fix. - Location is great. Room is small... but functional. Stayed twice within the same week and left feedback after the first visit. Returned to find the exact same issues unresolved in a different room. Broken fixtures throughout, unreliable TV reception, a shower head that wouldn't stay in position, a rain head that flooded the bathroom floor, broken toilet buttons, and a loose soap holder rattling around inside the shower. For the price, the standard of maintenance is well below what's acceptable.

- Ikuyo (8/5): Lovely hotel - I loved the concept and style of the hotel including furniture and design. Hotel staff were charming and helpful. Nice convenient location to go anywhere yet it can be noisy at night depending on the room you stay. Bicycles are available if you would like to explore the city freely. The door to the balcony couldn’t be closed properly so we heard noises from the outside at night.
- Chulung (8/5): Noisy Northbridge - Very close to event venue and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff and receptionist. Didn't have room access to water and fridge. Preferred not to go to level 1 to collect water. Would've rather smoke on balcony then go all the way down to noisy northbridge street alot of humbug from passing people and was worried about our safety. Can still hear noise from room but that's Northbridge for you.

- Detlev (9/5): Das Hotel ist mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln sehr gut erreichbar und für eine Stadterkundung ideal geeignet. - Sauber, gutes Frühstück, sehr gute zentrale Lage, sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal Für 2 Personen etwas eng und es fehlen Abstellmöglichkeiten für Koffer.
- Jane (8/5): Nice hotel but not a nice stay - Very friendly and helpful staff who helped reunite my husband with his tablet which he left behind, great location and nicely styled hotel, but... We were not informed before checking in that there was a wedding going on in the evening using all communal facilities, including the roof terrace. We were allocated a room directly below the roof terrace adjoining the function room where there was a disco and dancing on the paved surface of the terrace, all of which might as well have been taking place in our room. The rooms have no tea/coffee making facility, this along with provision of drinking water all being in the communal lounge on the first floor....which was full of wedding guests, so unusable by us. In the evening, the one lift was dominated by wedding guests moving between the first floor and roof terrace. Had we been allocated a room on a lower floor away from the terrace it would not have impacted quite as badly on our one night stay, but feel we should have been advised we were effectively staying in a wedding venue as unwanted and excluded guests

Alex hotel took multiple charges against my card and it took time to sort out whilst in Australia on my travels. Eventually sorted out and they apologised.

- Jill (10/5): Perfect option for a work trip, beautiful surroundings in a great location. - The location is fantastic, staff were so friendly and accomodating. I worked from the Mezzanine most days and it has a great set up. Had drinks on the roof top bar most nights. Bed was so comfy. I felt I made the most of the facilities and couldn’t fault any of it. I will definitely be back. I stayed a long time ago and they had boiled eggs as an option for breakfast but they don’t do that anymore. Small detail but I would have loved if that was still included.

- Joanne (10/5): Northbridge's jewel - The Alex is a beautiful hotel. It has a classy, grown-up European hostel vibe. The bed was comfy, the common areas so cosy and pretty. The staff were warm and kind. I wanted to sell my house and move in! I loved everything about it.

Perfekte Lage. Fußweg zum Hauptbahnhof 7 Minuten (z.B. Zug vom Flughafen!) und an die Waterfront 20 Minuten. Viele gute Restaurants in diesem lebhaften Viertel. Klare Empfehlung!

- Grace (6/5): Comfortable but expensive - Comfortable bed, modern bathroom and good bathroom amenities, and the balcony was nice feature. The location was in the heart of the night life, which means that every night there was endless noise. The room provided no boundary, I woke up 3-4 times every night as if there was a live band playing right in my room. Furthermore, the breakfast is an added payment which it definitely should not be. It's a few types of bread/pastries and a little fruit, and I found myslef hungry an hour later every time. This was my most expensive hotel stay by far, and although it was pleasant enough, nothing stands out that makes me believe the price is warranted.

- Nicholas (6/5): Read the reviews first - It's very central, very clean. I’d recommend reading recent reviews carefully before booking this hotel, so you have a clear sense of what to expect. I arrived at approximately 11am during heavy rain. While I completely understand that standard check-in is at 3pm, I was told I could wait in the upstairs area or pay an additional early check-in fee. Given the already high nightly rate, this felt a little unreasonable. There were also no umbrellas available for guests, as they were all in use at the time. What added to the frustration was seeing other guests checked in while I continued to wait, which felt inconsistent and not particularly considerate. I had booked a room with city views but was instead allocated a room with a frosted window facing a building. When I raised this with reception, I was told my original room wasn’t available at 1:50pm, so I had been moved to an alternative room to allow for an earlier check-in. I wasn’t asked whether I was happy to accept a different room type to check in slightly earlier, and this effectively resulted in a downgrade to a room I hadn’t booked—just to gain access earlier. I’ve also taken a photo through the mesh showing what was described as the “city view” provided. Unfortunately, the room itself didn’t reflect the price point ($261 for Friday Night and $276 for Saturday Night). There were no in-room amenities such as tea, coffee or bottled water, with everything located in shared areas. There’s also no desk in the room, which means relying on communal spaces again. The lack of a proper window—just a frosted door—makes the room feel quite enclosed. I also purchased a bottle of wine, but there was no mini fridge in the room to keep it chilled, which was disappointing. Noise insulation is another significant issue. Footsteps from the room above are clearly audible, and when the toilet upstairs is flushed, it genuinely sounds as though it’s coming from within the room. Music from other rooms is also audible, which makes it difficult to relax.
