Guest Reviews
- Andrew (9/5): -
- JamesMillard (10/5): Wonderful historic hotel! - The owner was exceedingly helpful in advising us about our plans to tour along the Cabot Trail. This was especially helpful considering we were visiting prior to the start of "tourist season", and many places had not yet opened for business. He told us where to get excellent breakfast fresh-baked food, and recommended a wonderful restaurant in the harbor which was absolutely fantastic and reasonably priced. I have stayed in this hotel before, and at that time I enjoyed breakfast there as well, but this is not done during the off season until after mid May.
- Mike Barnard (10/5): - When we booked in, the proprietor was very welcoming, and informative. He gave us a very comprehensive list of places to eat, gas stations and sights in the local area.
He also provided a map of our planned Cabot trail journey.
Plenty of parking space and the accommodation was immaculate. Being 6' 4" tall, i found the modern bathroom toilet facilities difficult to get down to and up from.
Be aware that the main street has available parking on both sides and some inconsiderate parking can encroach into the entry point of the accommodation.

- Vanessa (9/5): A clean, quiet place to rest following a busy work day! - A lovely place to lay your head at the end of a busy work day. I will return! The owner checked me in upon my arrival and helped recommend places to eat and said if I needed anything to let him know. I have no complaints as everything was great!
- Christine (3/5): - There was no breakfast offered at this place
- Patricia (10/5): Our stay was exceptional and we would stay here again. - Enjoyed our accommodations as well as the very friendly and helpful staff. We liked everything but would have appreciated more coffee pods in the room. Not a huge deal though as we were able to get some in the main lobby.
- Gerald (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Enjoyable experience - Location to other venues!
Good parking!
Staff and all folks at hotel , very helpful about tourist opportunities in the area! All good!
- Linda (8/5): - Amazing place to stay, so cute and homey. Exceptionally clean. Seemed recently renovated A little loud due to proximity to street.
- Colin (8/5): Lovely older property with charm. Would stay there again. - Staff helpful and good.
- Van (9/5): - Bon emplacement et propre
- Colette (9/5): It was cozy. Staff was pleasant and helpful. - The location was perfect. We could take nice strolls in the town right outside the inn. Nothing I can think of.
- Nathalie (8/5): Petit séjour charmant et délicieux. - La chambre était très propre, charmante et une très belle vue sur l’eau. Le déjeuner était varié et délicieux. Les propriétaires très gentils et accueillants. Le lit trop ferme.

- Glenna (10/5): Convenient location and decent price! - Quaint, right downtown Baddeck. As it is an older building, of course there are no elevators so a bit of a climb up with heavy luggage. A tiny little room but good for one night.
- Melissa (8/5): Cool place in a great location! - This place was cute! It is an older place but clean and it has a charm to it! Baddeck is such a beautiful place and the Telegraph House is in a great location. The shower wasn't working great, it needs to have a new facet as you couldn't pull it open all the way so the shower head wasn't getting full force of the water.
- Mary Lou (7/5): -
- Anne (9/5): A one-night stay in November but warm and comfortable. - So impressed that the owner waited for us to arrive from a late ferry! Around midnight! And the heat was on in the room.

- J260554 (10/5): Perfect location and great service - We spent two full weeks in one of The Telegraph House cabins when visiting Cape Breton for the Celtic Colours International Festival. Our first impression was that the cabin is very small - smaller than most Canadian and US motel rooms. That said, everything required is provided in the room and once we adapted to the limited space we were VERY happy in the cabin. There is a large fridge, high quality coffee maker and plenty of power points for phone charging etc. Wifi is very fast and reliable. There was plenty of parking very close to the cabin.
The bed was large and comfortable and - very unusually - there was plenty of storage space for clothes: a hanging rail and nine deep drawers. This was great for us as we were staying for two weeks and required many changes of clothes to accommodate the different activities which we were to enjoy during our vacation. The fact that the dressing table mirror was largely obscured by a huge TV was annoying as we have better things to while on vacation than watch TV. However, the bathroom was large and fully equipped with a large well-lit mirror to compensate for the hidden mirror in the main part of the cabin.
The cabin was spotlessly clean and housekeeping staff kept it meticulously so throughout our stay. The housekeepers were super-helpful throughout, being totally flexible as to when to clean the cabin. That said, all the staff and the owner of the property were really friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a happy one from the moment of arrival to departure. When he heard that I had a slight issue with the hotel's wifi, the owner went to huge lengths to ensure that we had a fast, powerful, stable signal.
This is a delightful and historic hotel which we wholeheartedly recommend. It is perfectly situated in the heart of lovely Baddeck within easy walking distance of restaurants and stores and with spectacular views of the Bras d'Or Lake. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already made our reservation at The Telegraph House for next year's Celtic Colours vacation.
- Jeanne (9/5): Beautiful place in a great location - Beautiful property, great staff, absolutely wonderful dinner Stairs🫤
- Melissa (10/5): - Nice room in the cabin behind the main building. Great location.
- Tamir (7/5): -
- Patricia (8/5): Great visit and solid place for us - Great location near all the shopping and restaurants. Tv screen was very small even though we were not there to watch tv
- Allen (8/5): - Clean and comfortable. Located well.
- Greg (8/5): A good experience that was good enough that I would not hesitate to book another stay. - Location was excellent for walking. The restaurant was refined and the food was excellent. The views from the room were limited.
- Lynn (4/5): Clerk checking us in had zero empathy. My husband and I haven't been away in 7 years - Location Room : not suitable
Sent request changes, never happened
My husband and I had to sleep in separate beds
- Horst (8/5): -
- Sabine (9/5): -
- Jacquie (8/5): A night in Baddeck. - Room was clean and cozy. We had a delicious turkey dinner at the Cable Room for our Thanksgiving stay. Our waitress was delightful. Breakfast is not served in the morning.
- Whelan (8/5): -
- Kirby (10/5): - The balcony view was great. Nice historic property. Great central location and lots of walkable places nearby.
- Kent (8/5): Excellent spot, walking distance to Alexander Graham Bell museum and lots of little shops - nice location, excellent staff over the top service
- Umang (8/5): - Good motel at a good location in Baddeck. The room was nice but the fan was broken and when I asked, the staff were confused and then came by to check it out. Then the manager said that there was nothing to do and “it’s cold, so don’t worry.”

- 66AMS (8/5): Very good Inn and restaurant - The Telegraph Inn was very good, the room as a bit on the small side but as we were there for one night it was OK. Well located in the town. Room was clean, staff friendly. The restaurant was very good, excellent choice of locally sourced food. Only complaint is that they do not serve breakfast which was a shame as the evening meal was so good. Well located if using the Cabot Trail and surrounding area.

- John (10/5): -
- Tolboom (9/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Room had fridge, tv w/decent internet. Nice deep jacuzzi tub. Older rooms but adequately updated. Short walk to water and restaurants.
- Ben (8/5): Good entry or exit place to stay for Cape Breton Highlands. - Good location in Baddeck. Great restaurant, sadly not serving breakfasts, but the Village People Roasters opposite were fantastic. No breakfast on site.
- Laura (8/5): -
- Linda (8/5): -
- Lorraine (6/5): Clean but small room with outdated facilities. - Location with good parking.
Clean and friendly. Small room with double bed against the wall so either climb over partner or wriggle off the end of the bed. Lots of foot traffic heard through floors. Coffee / tea only available from 0700.
- Julius (10/5): -
- Cindy (8/5): Nice motel behind Telegraph Inn - Sweet little motel room with a deck area. We were in room 27, and it met our needs. Plus, the restaurant in the Telegraph Inn is excellent. The wi-fi did not work well at all in the evening. Lagged like dial-up. The next morning it was fine
- Joanne (6/5): - Although the room was small it was clean, the air conditioner worked well.
This is a old hotel and it shows it's age.
We found it pricey for what it is. Also, no breakfast on site. They did offer coffee at the reception desk in the morning but we opted out as we went to a restaurant for breakfast

- Joan (10/5): - Everything was very clean, staff helpful. We did not have balcony or any view to speak of.
- Sarah (9/5): Characterful & clean accommodation in a good location - Very friendly, warm welcome. All very spotlessly clean. Characterful property with well displayed information about the history of the house and its owners. We didn't get to eat in the dining room due to our timing & other activities, but can recommend Tom's Pizza opposite & also the Lobster Galley (excellent chowder, the best so far). The room we had chosen when booking was on the small side, as in had a small double bed with access from one side only.
- Andrzej (3/5): -
- Dawn (8/5): - We sta
- Dawn (8/5): - We enjoyed this Inn so much that we came back for a second night!
- lindsay (4/5): - Mattress was worn out and lumpy giving no support for a good nights sleep. Only one lumpy pillow each and no second pillow to prop up to read or watch a show. Toilet sits crooked on the floor and makes a loud squeaky noisy when you open the lid...the seat moves around when you sit down. The screen on the window is torn so if want fresh air you get bugs coming in. The price is unreasonable for a room of this quality.
- Martin (9/5): -
- Robert (8/5): - Dinner was amazing. People are friendly
- Francesca (3/5): Struttura complessivamente buona ma molto poco accogliente - La posizione Rapporto molto impersonale con la direzione.discreta confusione nell’assegnazione delle chiavi e della camera
- Dale (8/5): - Nice old building with some history
- Tony (10/5): - Great place, Staff is great especially Marley , was very helpful, informative and patient. Room very clean and cozy. Premises very clean and beautiful.
