Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very thing very good
manager
staff
very care taker
- Mariya (8/5): - Located in ols historic building.
Thw host Jamini was superfriedly.
- Karl (6/5): - It was close to old town montreal and easy walking distance to old port
- Verified traveler (10/5): - basic property, just what you need in term of essentials. Everything is clean. Very friendly check-in.
- Catherine (4/5): Nice manager, poor maintenance - Jamini, the lady who runs Maison Brunet, is friendly and helpful. She makes it hard to write a bad review. But - the place is not being cleaned or maintained. I'm sure it gets a superficial cleaning. But the edges of the floors near the walls and baseboards were filthy. The windows in my room were so dirty it was hard to see out of them. The kitchen area was dusty, the toaster was covered in old crumbs and grease. There were bags of garden soil and a vaccum cleaner stored right next to the rack of dishes for guest to use. The shower surround was coated with soap scum. My mattress had a hole in it at one end. The blankets were stained. The front entrance made me think the building was abandoned: missing awning, worn stairs, crumbling pavers in front and lots of tall weeds. This was once an elegant house, and Maison Brunet could be a real gem, but not without better cleaning and maintenance.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Found the shoes I left behind and sent them to my house.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - . .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was my second time at this property, and I'd stay yet again. It is clean and centrally located near old Montreal and two Metro stations. Jamini was the staff member on duty for the days of my stay, and she was always cheerful, welcoming, and helpful. Her great service was much appreciated.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I was unable to travel to Montreal due to a medical emergency, while I understand that it's a non-refundable rate, it would have been nice to have had one night of 2 refunded as a gesture noting it was not in any one control, even after offering a hospital note.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - no breakfest ( only same bread in freaze). aiircondisn dont stop Receptions dont open - only some women by phone
- Roxanne (8/5): - Great Location close to old Montreal and St Catherine st. Property is clean with minimalistic amenities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super easy check in and check out. There is no on site parking.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The neighbourhood was quiet, the room was clean, it was close to downtown, and the manager was really nice.
- Lacey (10/5): Only place we wilk be staying from now on. - Best location. Hostess was the cutest, and very helpful with parking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful personal. Good location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice room and wonderful staff. The location is really nice as well, close to subway station.
- James (8/5): - Basic bed and Breakfast
comfortable bed
clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice antique place - The hotel is very nice, the welcome was very heartwarming.
- Matt (10/5): - The staff was amazing, the room was superb, an incredible experience the whole time!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location and price but no AC and extra guest charges were disappointing.
- D (2/5): - terrible stay experience, the house was like hunted, poor, very very old and dirty, smell disgusting...scary, could not sleep in the night.
- Norm (10/5): - Great lication with lots of charm! Felt most welcomed.
- John (10/5): - It’s a lovely little bed and breakfast. Very close to old Montreal and Rue St Catherine, bars/restaurants and downtown fun. Jamini, one of the owners, was really sweet and they kept the room in tip top shape. Very clean room, comfy bed and a terrace with a decent view. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy place to stay in Montreal. - It is a very cozy place to stay in Montreal, a few blocks from the old port as well as from St Catherine. Very good bed and breakfast type hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Was expecting a nicer hotel - Jamini made the experience wonderful. The hotel is kept quite clean, but it could use updating. The floor of our room on the second floor was sloped from every way to the door. There were several “quick fix” looking things. The emergency fire escape stair case did not look sturdy enough for my 10 year old to be on. The location was quite central which was ok, lots of parks around; but also a lot of homeless people and used syringes around. It wasn’t the worst, but I had higher expectations. An extra person fee of $80 and some other fees of $60+ was added for I don’t know what reason.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Jamini is very accomodating
- Sarah (2/5): Not so good - It was in a lousy neighborhood, and it was depressing inside the area. Not at all homey like a good B&B. Not worth the money and I would never go back.
- Matthew (4/5): Noisy and uncomfortable- but great location - Don’t stay in room 11 on the ground floor (en suite). The Cleaner lady sits right outside there all day talking loudly on her phone, and the clattering of breakfast at 8am will wake you up every morning.
Also - even though I had booked for four nights - I was told that my booking was only for 3 nights and that I’d have to find somewhere else to stay. The owner eventually reorganised other guests and I could stay for the fourth night, but it wasn’t the best Welcome on arrival!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay in Montreal - The room is large and clean. The host is friendly.
- Dkay (10/5): Didn't want to spend $ on a bed. This worked good - Visiting Montreal on a budget and wanted something within walking distance to old Montreal but didn't want to spend the high dollars on the hotels. It is an older residence that has been converted into 9 different rooms about 20 walking minutes to the area we wanted to see. When paying for so little for a room we didn't expect much. This worked out great and was happy with the arrangement. The lady was friendly and the room was clean. If you want something upscale and modern in Montreal with extra amenities there are lots of expensive hotels to choose from. If are going to be out sightseeing all day only care about having a bed and a clean room you will find this a good value.
- Alexis (10/5): Friendly staff, great location! - Wonderful location and service - the hosts will make you feel more than welcome and are always happy to help. Rooms are comfortable, a little dated but more than made up for by location, cleanliness and friendliness of staff!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very simple but clean accommodation. Central location for downtown east, Chinatown, or Old Montreal. Five minutes walk to Berri-UQAM metro station to go anywhere else. Incredibly friendly staff! I'd definitely stay there again.
- Santos (8/5): Correct Accommodation - Spacious room and clean. Comfortable bed. The location of the room by the breakfast-living room area made it quite noisy in the morning. I use ear-plugs so it wasn't a big deal for me.
Location wise is excellent
- Verified traveler (6/5): Service animal fee - We ordered a queen sized bed and we were given a room with two twins instead. I also have a service dog and the manager was none to happy about it and charged me an extra fee for having an animal. I argued the point about the legality of a service animal but I ended up paying the fee.
- Dave (6/5): couple minute walk from the gay village - Small room. Pleasant staff. If your looking for something fancy, this isn't it. If your looking for a room & a bed walking distance to the heart of the gay village this works.
- isabelle (8/5): Nice but .. - Very nice place but the walls were so thin that you could here everything... Even during the day they told us to bring the noise down because people were complaining. And we were only talking .. but the reste was perfect.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - Hostess was very helpful and polite. Rooms are not well isolated interm of noise. You can literally heareveryone outside and next to your room as if they were with you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute hotel near old montreal - Had an amazing 4 night stay here! Would highly recommend. Has a lovely homey feel and a sweet backyard. The wonderful lady who showed us our room and took care of us was like our 'Montreal mom'. She genuinely cared that we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed! 5 out of 5!!
- Louis (6/5): Well located to visit old Montreal - Large clean room in old home. We were warmly welcomed by a nice lady who showed us everything. Twenty minute walk to old Montréal which is very pleasant to visit. Downside was parking with several streets closed and parking prohibited due to a Formula E race. Had to park 10 minutes away and circle the next morning trying to find a way to get close to the hotel to pick up our luggage. Even without the race, it would have been street parking and you could not have been certain to get a close spot. Certainly if you are not travelling by car, this hotel is a good choice at reasonable cost with easy access to old Montréal.
- Pete (8/5): - This hotel is in an excellent location near Old Town and downtown. Keep in mind this hotel seems to be a house converted into a hotel. Staff are very friendly and willing to help or meet your needs.
- Verified traveler (2/5): what do you mean?? you did not know the residence - Horrible horrible experience, never come back again in the residence house, Not a hotel at all!!! the residence house was like never been maintained and it smelled like in hell and dead bodies in side the house, the inside was dark and not being painted for over 100 years. The beds sheets looked never been washed and cleaned, all furniture were second handed as they were all not matching. floor was stained and blacked....inside like a hunted house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I parked my car alongside the street, and it was hit and run by the pickup truck parked in front!! the whole area was poor, and terrible you don't want to go out unsafe. My worst experience ever in the whole trip. I do not recommend anyone to book this.....worst experience....
- Rhonda & friend (8/5): Great location close to Old Port - Nice B&B. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy walking distance to lots of restaurants. Parking was a bit tricky due to construction in that area
- Verified traveler (4/5): Would not recommend - Good location, but terrible stay. Killed two spiders on entry into room. Land lady kept reminding me to not lose my keys on several occasions as if she was scared I was going to lose it. Bathroom is across the hall from room and was very inconvenient to access. Random cleaning supplies scattered through the hotel and inside the room. Flat pillows. Jin blankets. No room service. Basically no amenities. Would not recommend to friend or family.
- Mel (8/5): Close to everything. Quiet residential area. - Older hotel. Well stocked kitchen to organize breakfast - bring your own food items however. Clean. Friendly staff. Quiet - no outside noise. Comfortable beds. Parking is dicey but staff very helpful with this ! Would stay again but hopefully the city will have completed ALL the construction in the area --- made getting to hotel taxing!
- Elliott (8/5): - the lady was super helpful at time of check in. When I go to Montreal again I will stay there for sure.
- Sara (10/5): Great Stay - I went with my mom for this past Mother's day weekend and stayed at Maison Brunet for one night. The woman who checked us in was very helpful, nice, and accommodating, and really made our stay that much better. The room was no frills, but was clean and had its own private bathroom, tv and wi-fi. There was no breakfast, but the hotel was in such a great location that we could just walk anywhere to grab food. Would definitely come back for any short stays in Montreal!
- Paul (10/5): - I loved my time there. I was right in the heart of the city, and close to major transit routes and within walking distance of a lot of great things to see. The lady who manages the property was the sweetest woman you'll ever meet and was constantly seeing to my needs, including my privacy.
I plan on coming back to Montréal again, and I will definitely be booking here if they're available again.
- Mary (10/5): Convenient, homey and clean hotel. - It was great! From the moment we checked in to the second we left, staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel had a very homey feel and was in an extremely convenient location.
- Vicki (8/5): - We arrived at 8:00 pm and we're told that our room was not available and that the last room that was available was being held for someone else who hadn't arrived. We got the room after a small wait, but it was tiny and the bathroom wasn't attached, it was down the hall. It wouldn't have been bad but we still got charged for the full price room, no discount.
- Heather (10/5): Quaint and convenient - I lived my stay here. It was a first time to Montreal for my friend and I and we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly. It was perfect walking distance to the everything and if it wasn't the metro is 2 blocks down. I can't wait to go back. Thanks for a great trip Maison Brunet!
