Guest Reviews
- Anders (10/5): -
- Christine Wilson (10/5): Our family are all ready planning the next trip. - One of the best resort hotels I have stayed in the food and the staff were spot on, plenty of variety, we are going back. The diving school was first class. Maybe diet drinks could be included in the all inclusive package.
- hayley (10/5): Great family stay - Staff were all exceptional. Every individual member. The tents are exceptionally comfortable and enjoyable to sleep in. The food was outstanding
So much variety, great taste and the Christmas eve feast was outstanding. Dive instructors were all kind, knowledgeable, patient and wonderful teachers. The neighbouring hotels offered light pollution in the evening. Such a shame. Marsa Shagra itself is without fault.
- Hilde (10/5): The perfect place for a dive holiday - Location, facilities, diving facilities, staff, organization of the diving area, relaxed atmosphere
- Rooseleer (9/5): -
- Stacey (8/5): Nice diving retreat ( less good for snorkellers) and sprite some niggles we are glad we came - Nice location
Restaurant and restaurant staff were great
Great house reef Felt snorkellers were second class citizens compared to divers
We were misled on seeing dugongs
Unfortunately missed spinner dolphins too .
Forgot my partner’s birthday cake despite being ordered.
Ridiculous scenario of not accepting Egyptian cash at reception
- Stephan (9/5): - Super friendly staff, excellent dive shop, perfectly organized, very safe and relaxed. Bit pricey 😉
- Mohamed (8/5): -
THE SPIRIT OF SHAGRA IS GONE- Ich musste weinen beim Tauchen im Hausriff.
- Ivana (9/5): Excellent location, Pristine resort - Excellent dive location with direct access to the reef The resort is massive so it’s sometimes a bit tough to walk in the extreme heat between places - tough but manageable.
- Clermont (10/5): -
- Robyn (6/5): - Snorkling was very enjoyable.
- P&A (10/5): - Baza nurkowa idea Zmiany klimatu, umierające rafy widać bardzo zniszczenia w stosunku do ostatnich lat
- Jessica (9/5): - Divers paradise Huts were too hot during summer. Food wasn't the most appealing at times.
- Kerstin (10/5): - Unglaublich wunderbarer Tauchspot mit Atmosphäre und Professionalität
- Ana (10/5): Very well run, small and comfortable resort in a beautiful location. Perfection. - Amazingly beautiful location, nice food, comfortable rooms. We stayed in the cabins with bathrooms. The coral reefs have suffered from heat and are currently grey. Hoping that this 2025 summer will be milder and allow them time to recover! I should note though that the experience of snorkeling around is still breathtaking — mostly because there is so much wildlife. It truly is a diving/snorkeling safari.
- Philippa (10/5): Brilliant holiday full of memorable experiences - Amazing location and sensitively designed Nothing
- Machin (8/5): A Real Divers Paradise, a place to be with nature, relaxed and professional. - Been before and it is great , best set
No
up for independent divers. However it has got very expensive compared to accomodation elsewhere along that stretch of coast. It doesn't include diet drinks which in this day and age doesn't make sense. Food is tasty and staff amazing. We are in a 5* Jaz this week and it is beautiful. All drinks and food and snacks included. Stunning grounds and pools. Nice beach and very good reef. We paid exactly half of what we did for Shagra. However we love the atmosphere of Shagra the fact where ever people are from , we all having diving and a lovely of the sea , so everyone chats. We will of course go again. Pay for diet drinks and accomodation package is very expensive even for a basic room with no private bathrooms.
- Louis (8/5): Very good -
- Sean (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Sensational shagra. I will return - The diving was incredible
The food was amazing
The location was breathtaking
The staff were friendly and helpful
Exceptional value for money Not really a criticism but a little more choice on the soft drink side would have been good. Only coke or Fanta offered as part of the fully inclusive package. Diet coke was available but at an extra cost
- Ljvt (9/5): Great place for divers - Great place for divers, super well organised, excellent food, very nice staff. The house reef is wonderful, and easy access to plenty of other great dive sites Bit strict/expensive for early check-in.
- June (8/5): - Liked: large rooms, quiet, varied choices at meals, food was delicious
Dislikes: bathroom had urine smell. I propped door open and smell wasnt as strong but was still there.
Also, the resort is so big, it felt impersonal and cold
- Alessio (8/5): Beautiful prestine stay - The house reef is beautiful and the diving school is good. The royal tent is very clean and also the shared bathrooms. The food was nice. The enviromental friendly measurements were appreciated. The breakfast overall could be better, especially the juices. In the royal tent the fridge was not working.
- Massimo (10/5): - Le tende royal fronte mare sono alquanto affascinati. Letti enormi e comodissimi.
- Christina (10/5): - Looking forward to coming back already !
- Felix (10/5): - Highly recommend. Great holiday, amazing diving experience.
- Jan (9/5): Great to be by the sea and in a sympathetic development - food good but not outstanding. Sea can be a bit rough if windy.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabriel (8/5): perfect place for snorkelling - excellent breakfast except that the butter wasn't butter and tasted awful. Butter substitute. Lack of any indoor lounge for when it's too windy to sit outside
- michael (10/5): - Was realy nice there. Nice reef to dive, nice tent,.nice food. Only the transportationprice to the Airport was to expensiv. Taxi was so much cheaper.
- hana (10/5): - Un endroit de pure zénitude.
- Nadine (10/5): - Very unique experience. Great staff, great facilities, beautiful house reef, hotel, rooms. Food was great too.
only negative point that you have to pay for wifi, at least it should be included in the public areas.
- Jayd (10/5): Immersive Red Sea experience - We stayed in the tent and chalet. It’s a different experience but both are wonderful. Everything centred around and well organised for guests to enjoy underwater life to the max. The concept attracts a certain type of clientele, mostly divers, who are not there to party and make noise but to enjoy and respect nature. Wonderful to disconnect. For this price, espresso coffee and fresh juices could be included in the package.
- Jayd (10/5): Complete immersion in the Red Sea experience - Amazing location and house reef. Whether diving or snorkelling we saw something new each time we went out. Super well organised and explained. Hearing the waves lapping from the tent was fantastic. Healthy, balanced and varied food which keeps you feeling good and at your best for exploring the reef. Very helpful , friendly and qualified staff.
- Kerstin (10/5): - Fantastischer Ort für Taucher! Das Nachhaltigkeitskonzept ist vorbildlich. Alles in allem ein tolles Erlebnis. Wir kommen ganz bestimmt wieder.
- Marco (8/5): Lovely time with my wife - All good Food and restaurant set up can be improved. A hanger in the royal tent is suggested
- Cornelia (4/5): beautiful place. - amazing place beautiful location on the beach. food amazing. rooms beautiful my room what I booked was not available. so the gave me a room. sooooo big. I think the room the bed the shower everything was toooo big. you can make 3 rooms instead of 1 here. they were working and didn’t say this on the internet. they where painting with a really bad smell. I left. I talked to the manager and he apologized.
- Kyrill (1/5): overpriced, rip of mentality - the food was good value for money in regards to facilities.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Delarosa84 (10/5): Exceptional - The diving facilities, staff, organization, equipment, access to Nitrox bottles and house reef easy access were excellent. A divers paradise! The brand new speed boats with impressive 300ps engines are awesome.
All inclusive food buffet was overall good. Chef Mohammed gave us extra amazing attention and provided on request fresh grilled fish, fruits etc. I celebrated my Birthday there and the kitchen organized a lovely (huge) cake, which was a lovely gesture.
The Chalets are good size and definitely worth the extra price to stay a bit warmer if you are here in January where evenings get cool. Bed was a bit too squeeky though. Hot water and good pressure in shower were very much appreciated! The diving package is a bit pricey if you only do excursions and don't want to dive daily on the house reef, so I recommend to try to maximize the reef dives per day. Unfortunately there was no option to only do excursions without the unlimited house reef package.
The Chalet has no hair dryer. We could get one from reception, but they only have 4 available for the whole village, so it took several days before we got one.
The place is missing a decent beach bar with some chillout music and cocktails for the evenings...
- Ahmad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tamara (10/5): A great place for peace & nature loving people - not just divers. - It was absolutely great.
Desert, ocean, sustainable philosophy.
Great respect for protecting the nature, reef.
Free water dispensers to avoid pet bottle pollution was a super gesture. Everything was perfect. I hope they keep it this way and dont make it larger, more commercial.
- Marcos (10/5): Exceptional - 5 star diving center, incredible coral reef for snorkeling and diving, many activities and delicious food, very attentive staff, we'll be back soon That we only stay 3 nights :(
- MANUELA (10/5): - Barriera corallina meravigliosa. Bagni in comune sempre puliti.
- Anthony (10/5): relaxing - location the food was cold/warm
- Magid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Camille (9/5): amazing place - will come back for sure. it is one of the only places where you can dive alone and also enjoy amazing fa - freedom to dive, good diversity of food, amazing facilities
- Javier (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alaa (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The proximity to the beach and the beautiful well equipped tents.
- Claire (10/5): - The accommodation, facilities, house reef and staff are all out of this world.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dedicated to divers. Very convenient house reef to be explored, excellent chalets comfort.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the tranquility. Didn’t love the poor communication or having to ask more than once about addressing certain problems or concerns. Also, would be nice if they had free wifi. Who doesn’t have free wifi in this day and age?
- Fabienne (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing - The place is lovely. We stayed in a Deluxe chalet which was comfortable and beautiful, with the view on the sea on one side and the desert and mountains on the other side (but careful to mosquitoes). We went there for a week end of February to snorkel and relax and it was the perfect place. Beautiful fishes and reef (thanks to the staff who make sure that people don't abuse the reef). We also saw many turtles and one white tip shark.
The staff is friendly, professional and relax. The food was good. The transfer from Marsa Alam airport is quick and can be organised by the staff on demand. Everything was well-organised and made easy for the guests.
- Christy (8/5): Royal Tent for 2 nights - My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay in a royal tent! The tent was just what we needed -- simple, comfortable, and clean. We even had a front row view to the sea!
The bathrooms were a little bit of a walk from our tent, which made me dread having to go to the bathroom during the middle of the night. The food and staff were excellent with lots of variety for each meal. The reception desk helped us organize a day trip south along the Red Sea to see Qulaan and snorkel at Hankorab beach -- super affordable and a wonderful day!
I will say that for Egypt prices, the tent is a little spendy for accommodations. Yes, you are right on the water and have access to all inclusive meals and beverages, but at times it felt like we were paying a "divers tax", especially since we weren't necessarily there for the diving. All in all, highly recommend and would love to stay here again if we are ever back in Egypt!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - best diving expierience in the redsea. friendly and helpful staff, best food ever.
diving sites and service is exceptional.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The reef is amazing - Thanks to all stuff and special thank to
C/ karem , hesham, fade, sewaisy, And ezz
And thanks to our amazing chif, and all the shaid stuff.
