Guest Reviews
- Charles (1/5): A scam? Manorom is closed; we were sent to Khamphiane Hotel instead - Good location, near the night market and lots of restaurants. When we arrived at Manorom and approached the desk to check-in, a man approached from the back of the lobby, said "Manorom closed", and pointed to an A4 print out which was taped to the check-in desk. The note stated that Manorom hotel is closed, and people who booked through Agoda (note that we booked through booking.com) would be accommodation at the Khamphiane hotel instead. The man said Khamphiane was "just around the corner". No apologies; no explanation. We found our way to Khamphiane, and luckily the guy at check-in there had our reservation. Again; no apology nor explanation was given as to why we were not staying at Manorom.
We were given a twin room, despite having booked a double room at Manorom. Our booking at Manorom included breakfast, but there was no sign of such at Khampiane. The room itself was inferior to that advertised by Manorom, such that we suspected we had been duped.
The complimentary water bottles in the room - at 235ml - were the smallest I have ever encountered in a hotel. Three gulps and they were finished.
All together, it was the worst check-in experience I have had in 26 years of travelling and living in Asia. Why Manorom is still advertising on Booking.com is beyond me, unless there is some sort of scam underway.

- Davis Damon (1/5): Terribile - NULLA.
- Thongsavanh (6/5): Just fair and need improvement of the staff. - I came late and the staff seems not to be accommodating me, I have to fight before the staff will find me the new place to sleep. Receptionist.

- Henrich (3/5): -
- De cort (7/5): Quite okay! - Very good location! Breakfast was nice too. Some things in my room weren’t good. The toilet seat was loose, it fell off a few times. My window/door couldn’t close fully. So it was still a bit open at night. Didn’t like that…
The walls were also a bit dirty.
- William (9/5): Great location - Location The shower wasn’t the best
- Bounthong (10/5): Three times stayed, staffs and owner are helpful - Clean and close to night market, river side Good for families
- Damrongsack (7/5): - Sehr nettes Personal und die Gegend.. Alles sehr alt...

- HING MAN (10/5): - Very good Nothing

- Yan Lin (4/5): - Smell is not good

- LPB-Review (2/5): "Worst Hotel Experience Ever – Filthy, Smelly, and Unsafe" - Avoid this hotel at all costs – unless you want your entire mood ruined.
From the moment we arrived, it was a disaster. We couldn’t even finish checking in before the power went out. We had to sit and wait for around 3 hours.
Once we got to the room, the nightmare continued. I didn’t even know what to complain about first – the room reeked of a foul smell, it was filthy, and the floor was covered in dust and dirt.
The bedsheets and towels were yellowed, torn, and smelled terrible. Some lights didn’t work at all. The door wouldn’t close properly, yet the staff claimed the room was “safe.”
We asked to change rooms and were shown over 10 rooms – all in the exact same disgusting condition. One of the Vietnamese staff members even got irritated and spoke to us with an aggressive tone.
We had booked for two nights. When we requested a refund, they refused to refund the first night – only offering a refund for the second night.
In the end, many of my friends had to find a different hotel just to have a clean place to sleep.
I’ve attached photos – see for yourself. No one should have to stay in a place like this.
- Ebony-brooke (5/5): Wouldn’t recommend - The air con worked well The room was dirty, the curtains were filthy, stains all along the wall. We were supposed to be in a double bed but we were in two singles pushed together, this meant there was a crack in the middle so we had to just sleep separately essentially, only one single duvet for the both of us and then another single duvet without a cover which I found in the cupboard. It too was filthy. Tried to use the hairdryer and it just heated up red hot and smelt like burning plastic then sparked and shorted out. The hotel is falling apart with glass panes missing and also my partners shoes got stolen at one point after leaving them in the lobby where there were other shoes left. And after harassing the staff to look through CCTV multiple times did the shoes miraculously turn up. The only good thing is the sweet older gentleman working behind the desk.
- Keovongsa (4/5): Disappointing -
- Phaiboun (5/5): Passable -
- Ko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alicia (7/5): Good - Breakfast excellent! Plenty of fruit. Need more cleaning public areas

- Glynis (9/5): Really delightfull would recommend this place as a price value location. Would stay again. - Staff, attentiveness, help and support - Good local knowledge and great location. Very friendly even when I left my key in a local restaurant. Vientianne is a relatively poor city to visit but the people are remarkably friendly and interesting. The area is bit smelly at times but that's the price of a hot country.
- Elton (5/5): Passable - Very central location, overall poor mantainence and dirty,
- Christiaan (8/5): Very good -
- Mohammad (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good . Old and needs to do some maintenance
- Derek (5/5): passable - location facilities and breakfast
- Mounir (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (7/5): Good - Centrally located with a nice breakfast.
- Naveunsay (6/5): Pleasant - It's not very clean at all. The staff were not friendly and very miserable.
- Josemari (8/5): Very good -
- Mixay (1/5): 2 nights - I like nothing Bathroom
- Pekka (4/5): Disappointing - trying to charge two times
- Daniel (8/5): Would recomment - Room; I liked the size of the room. I found the bed to be very comfortable. The room had a good working refrigerator, decent AC. Wifi was great.
Breakfast; The staff provided some good breakfast service. Choices of egg, different fruit, noodles
The staff; they were very helpful, friendly and hard working
Location; close to the (food) night market and the regular night market. Close to some beautiful Buddhist temples. The hotel Building itself is in need of some repairments.
- Karin (8/5): For a short Manorom is a good option and if you are depending on hotel WiFi - Location excellent, staff very helpful Wifi not working in breakfast breakfast area and on 6th floor in the rooms at the end of the corridor or most distant from the source
- khamlav2023 (2/5): Stay way from this hotel. Trust me. - Just stay out of this place, period.
Trust me you will not just only waste your money but it will also spoil your holiday.
The old man at the reception is the worst person with the worst attitude.
Nothing in this hotel is working.
Door isn't working. Aircon compressor is very loud right in front of your bedroom. Shower is smelly and gosh those towels hasn't washed for weeks.
Stay way!
- Patrick (8/5): Very good -

- Bk (8/5): Great stay for the price - Great location, great price, very friendly staff, clean, comfortable. Walking distance to many things. A little street traffic noise. Bathroom door didn't shut all the way and exhaust fan didn't work but still a great stay for the price.
- Matloob (7/5): Good -
- Navann (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (8/5): Basic and reasonable price - Great budget hotel, if your looking just for a place to stay and wash and have a bed. Staff were friendly and very helpful, booked my bus for me into Udon Thani. The hotel is very outdated and is in a bad need of renovation.
- Elin (9/5): Superb -
- J.g. (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tom (6/5): Pleasant - Nice breakfast Shower but you get used to it.
- Phirum (3/5): I may not recommend and stay again my for my next trip is still the same. Thank you - Location Facilities
Broke
Disk for breakfast serving omelet was broken at apart but still put food for customers
Shower not convenient, material like mattress, tower are old
No hot water for shower, no coffee or tea bag serve
Not clean especially restroom ground floor at lobby was dirty, no clean, no tidy. Some staff not helpful when ask for taxi service they don’t help they say don’t have. They ask me booking via website, not make sense as we just need quick call to the market.
My purpose of feedback is not blaming I just want the owner to check more with staffs and improve some points.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Win (5/5): Passable -
- Sarah (7/5): Wooden hotel with breakfast close to bus stop and temples - We got the room from the photos. Shower was great! Best shower of our trip. Rain shower and a movable one on the wall. Hot water was good. We had two balcony’s, one in the room and one with a door from the outside. Not a bad view. We had breakfast included though we had to leave early so we missed it. :( We saw the menu and it looked basic but ok. You could get soup and pancakes and such. Tea and coffee you got yourself. The dining room looked fine. The older owner dude took us to our room and had the cleaner clean it straight away when he noticed water on the floor from the fridge. Location was good near a bus stop and some temples. Wifi was good. We got a small bottle of water each in the room and they let us check in early. Looks like a nice hotel that has been a bit let go. Everything is a bit run down and dusty or broken. The Tv was melted on the screen in sections and many channels didn’t work. The fridge was leaking water into floor. Bed was hard and not level. The shower door was rusted open. The door to the room was a bit broken so there was a trick to opening it with the key. There was no tea or coffee in room. Vientiane really didn't have much going on. The city seemed dead during the day. The night market was the busiest thing we saw.
- Anu (8/5): Very good -
- Dharmvir (3/5): Poor experience - Location and property is good but facilities are very poor Bathroom and AC or other services are not working
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Bede (9/5): Stay here when I’m in town - Great location near the night food market and a walk to the other market by the river
- Alain (6/5): Nice place to stay. But some details may not suits exigent persons - The classic wood decoration are nice and it is well situated near the night market, the Mekong river and many conviennent stores. Staff is ok. The attention to details are not always good. Some details are broken and some are not always clean (for example the curtains and showers.
- Gavan (8/5): It’s okay - It’s okay for one or two night. Nothing too fancy. Breakfast is below basic. Not too many options. It’s just okay
- thitaweesp (4/5): Cheap price but… - Cheap price, Clean but very old and have bad smell.
Mosquitoes inside the room. Curtains cannot prevent light from outside.
Can hear people walk from outside the room and can hear motorbike on street.
Good located at Sihom, that is easy to find something to eat.
I will not back to stay here again.
- Boun (3/5): Poor -
- jup1983 (2/5): Just disgusting, run while you can - I've read reviews of more than 5 years ago that they hotel was build and then it was never again maintained. I can conform that it only got worse. The entry hall was Nice, but after that it is only downhill. Beds are hard and stale. The bathroom is disgusting, my wife did not dare to take a shower. The doors of the shower do not close because of the erosion and the shower itself feels like it can tumbling down on your head in any second. All that in an atmosphere of dark mold in every corner. The other rooms of our company were in the same state of even worse. There was one bathroom in a room of the children which had a leak so the room was flooded. This was told at the front desk, but no action was taken whatsoever. No one got a good rest in his room. The outside unit of the airco sounds the same as the airplane taking off which we took in the morning. In the morning we took one glance at the breakfast, only some lausy looking fruits and some bread, we did not dare to eat and just ran. When you first enter the hotel the staff immediately starts asking for money, which is understandable, because if you take one look beyond the frontdesk you do not want to stay there for another second. Run while still can, this place is the worst.
- Prempavee (8/5): Very good - confortable hard bed asian style, staff is great here working site near the window. No view at all from my room. Other room them have. I felt was not clean as I would have liked
- Aungmyat (1/5): Bad - Very terrifying service , never stay again .
Once check in , owner (old man) provided the room at 206(2nd floor) and door lock is not working well, even hotel staff can’t open it. We faced door lock problem again in the evening and when we requested to change another room , owner (old man) is aggressively replied to try again. It make us very annoyed, finally he allowed to us to changed another room with block view .
Inside room are also not enough cleaning service . Bread in the breakfast time also getting smell badly . Totally disgusting service.
- Nattarin (1/5): The room was very dirty, especially, the bathroom that seemed like never been cleaned. The shower door did not work, we -
- Ben (7/5): Good -
- Richard (7/5): Nice - Good location, nice staff
- Adrian (1/5): Super dirty - avoid unless you’re desperate - The location was great and the staff was very friendly, however we still decided to check out one day before because the hotel looks good just on the pictures. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, honestly. I wasn’t expecting a luxury room and a 5 star service for the price but at least the room could be clean. And it was very very far from that.
The room stank of mould, the shower was dirty, but the bed was the worst - the pillows and bed cloths had stains on them. We arrived to Vientiane after a long journey and were really tired so we spent one night here (and booked two nights) but on the second day we decided to move to another hotel after we discovered me and my wife HAD A RASH on our arms and legs in the morning, and we believe it was from the state of the bed we slept in.
The balcony door was broken too and wasn’t closing properly, there was a gap that mosquitoes were using to enter the room and bite us all night long.
Forgot to mention the included breakfast: toasts, jam, butter, a few slices of melon on almost empty buffet style table.
We moved to a hotel 5 min walk from this one, for the same price, the room was spotless, the breakfast had plenty of fresh options, and there was even a swimming pool.
Avoid this place unless you’re really desperate.
- Jean-marie (5/5): Passable -
- Heidi (3/5): Poor - Nice Öady at the front desk Dirty rooms
Cant close windows proporly
MANY mosqitos
Alot of mold
- Leong (7/5): Pleasant stay with the adequate facilities to go by. - Its location is convenient. Nil
- Hannah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Francis (3/5): Poor - Nothing Everything I think take it of tore list as its complete ship eg my room wasn't ready I skift room 2 times everything was broken tv never worked I paid for ypgraid never happened so I'll never go back if that's 3 star joke
- Valeriia (10/5): For your money the best option in Vientiane, in the center but located on a quiet street, pleasant staff who speak Engli - Very nice staff, great location and excellent breakfast. Good water pressure in the shower) It takes a long time for water to drain from the sink
- Voravong (9/5): Superb -
- Klaus (8/5): Very good -
- De (2/5): The rooms are really dirty but the hotel’s location is perfect. - The location’s perfect. The rooms are really dirty ! And we literally killed 30 mosquitoes.
- Dhrumin (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent
- David (2/5): They need new management - Bed was soft Very dirty and smelly. Had them book us a cab which was dirty and charged us twice the amount
- Alan (6/5): En route to Vietnam - Lovely room, comfortable bed. Very good breakfast
Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff , especially Yen.
Went out of their way to help us organise bus tickets to Vietnam.
Lent us an umbrella in the rain
Water cooler in the lobby
Good location for bars, restaurants etc
There is a lift! Doors and windows don’t close and are taped shut so lots of mosquitoes
Air conditioning shut off every hour during the night so we were woken several times
Very bright street light and flimsy curtains meant we slept very poorly.
- Grant (3/5): Wouldn't recommend will not go back - Nothing special The room ,not clean ,smell dirty towels, shower not work properly shower not close
- thelifeofbelle (6/5): Everything good, building old - We stayed for 2 nights and we're allowed early check in at 10am (no extra fees). I believe this was a beautiful hotel back in the day. The lobby is spacious and we see there were efforts to "modernize" and renovate it.
The bed, headboard, closet and dresser were made of thick fine wood. Beddings were thin and old, needs replacement. There is a small terrace for smoking or just getting fresh air. The bathroom used to be nice but needs a makeover and deep cleaning. Nonethless, we slept well.
They also offer complimentary Continental breakfast. It's simple but filling. You can choose from omellete, 2 fried eggs or pancake. Then there's a buffet table of toasts with butter and jam, fried noodles, cereals and milk, assorted fruits.
Staff were nice. Location is closed to restaurants and cafe as well as the night food market.
- Gro (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed and shower, and Nice staff Bad breakfast
- Yumu (6/5): Pleasant -
