Guest Reviews
- Nancy (9/5): i had an excellent stay at the courtyard by Marriott i went for son's graduatioin from MSU vet schoo - Everything from the staff to the cleanliness to the quiet It was great overall. Really no complaints. other than breakfast included a little continental would be nice, because it ios always more expensive when you convert American dollars to Canadian
- ReddFoxx (9/5): Great considering all - Location was great once I figured out where I could legally park only one serviceable elevator and distance had to carry luggage
- Shamika (10/5): - Rooms were great!!! Bartender was boring
- Montana (8/5): -
- Mark (10/5): -
- Usher (7/5): A convient stay for a short trip! - The front receptionist was accommodating! I also enjoyed the staff members warm welcome. The overall hotel was nice but the cleanliness wasn't there. There was leftover candy in the elevator and particles of hair on the common floors in the bathroom. I felt the bathroom in the room wasn't clean as it should be.
- Ecel (10/5): My stay was great - It was very clean and welcoming.
- Jesselyn (8/5): Very nice property, would recommend - Very clean, kind staff Parking
- Angela (10/5): - Great location, friendly staff and the food was good. I think it is a bit overpriced for an off-season stay. I felt like I was paying a higher rate since it was relatively empty. I understand during peak athletic seasons for the college, prices being competitive.
- Latoya (10/5): -
- Neel (10/5): -
- Allen (9/5): -
- Blake (8/5): I will be staying here a lot more - The rooms were nice. It was close enough to everything to get whatever you needed in a timely manner. I paid for the breakfast included package and knew nothing about it the whole time I was there
- Jessica (8/5): -
- Allen (10/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): - Our rooms were excellently cleaned! The staff was amazing and we ended up getting in earlier than expected so I called to see
Could we come on and check in and they allowed us to!!! All the cleaning staff were amazing and front desk staff things our 3rd time using this facility and anytime we are in town we will always stay with the courtyard!!!!!
- Kelly (10/5): - My daughter and I stayed at the Starkville Courtyard Marriott for a long college tour weekend. We were greeted with a clear MSU bag for the football game with waters, bookstore coupons, and treats. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating and the hotel was beautiful and clean! I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when in Starkville!
- Chavonne (8/5): - Close to MSU campus. New hotel, clean, comfortable.
- Amy (10/5): - Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and quiet. Very convenient to campus
- Jana (10/5): - Everything was great, but for the price it should include complimentary breakfast.
- Ashley (10/5): - Location, cafe, and sofa bed
- Lisa (10/5): - Great place
Great staff
Great location
- Ruth (10/5): -
- Thomas (6/5): Hiccups with construction but great location and very clean - The location to MSU is perfect I didnt know about the construction or the elevator situation until late morning since I booked on another site. I checked the hotel website and I didnt see elevators were down. I had to take the stairs. And then my locked tripped and had to call for maintenance. It was a simple fix but it was uncomfortable having my door not shutting briefly, especially since I had two teen girls with me. I will stay again but only after construction is done.
- Tareq (10/5): - Just a great place
- Lisa (8/5): - The room was very nice
Huge shower
Friendly staff
Lots of construction
- Jakayjia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kesha (10/5): Exceptional - Location, everything
- Defense (6/5): - The image is very misleading for the room I paid for especially 630 bucks but the room I thought I was getting was much bigger from the image but I was let down and misinformed with a smaller room
- Debra (4/5): Disappointing - Hotel was under construction and wish we had known this prior to booking. It was very difficult to get to because of it
- Staci (8/5): great! - Was in nice renovated room Did not know hotel was under construction. Entrance is in the back. Thought the entire place had been shut down when we first arrived.
- Kira (2/5): - I booked through Expedia, soon arrival the front entrance was completely boarded up and blocked off, I thought the hotel was closed down. I had to call the front office, then I was directed to enter the back of the hotel which I arrived at night so I had didn’t like that. Then when I got to the little ass concession stand check in desk he said it stated it through their website. Not Expedia but their, which I think if they allow third parties to book their hotel, they should have them put it in their description as well. They tv kept freezing up in the room I had to unplug it twice, followed by being woken up 7/8 with construction work on the hotel. In my opinion they need to close it down until they get finished, or rooms shouldn’t be 240$ for one night for the inconvenience. That was ridiculous
- Rickey (8/5): - Room very nice, had a lot of room for myself, wife and mom. The water in shower took a long time to warm up, but other than that, everything was fine. Renovating was going on, but hotel did notify me before my stay.
- Larry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Larry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Larry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Murry (10/5): - In town for business at MSU! Great hotel and conference center!
- Quincy (10/5): Exceptional -
- amy (4/5): - The property was being heavily renovated. The front entrance was not even open. You had to park around back in the parking garage and access through the pool area. And none of this was noted when we made the reservation. Overall, it was an OK stay. We were just in quickly for student orientation. Hot water in the bathroom took literally 5 to 8 minutes to reach our sink or our shower.
- Lisa (1/5): No sleep happened due to loud construction and hallway noise all night. - Drools going off at 7:30 am and hammering very loud halls all night . Could not sleep . I have video but it pictures
- dawn (2/5): - bed comfortable. room clean. too much construction. no restaurant. disabled father had to walk a lot further bc of on renovations. wished i had known this before booking
- Steve (8/5): - Great
- BRIAN (10/5): - Immaculate still looks brand new plenty of FREE PARKING!!!
- Carmen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marvin (10/5): - My stay was great! Friendly and conveniently located
- Edrice (6/5): - I would not stay here again. Though it was convenient, the staff very unfriendly. Most hotels offer complimentary breakfast. They did not offer even coffee.
- Emily (10/5): I would stay here again. - The staff was very kind. The hotel was in the middle of everything. I was never more than 2 miles from where I was headed which was a plus. I could hear the people above me walking around and could hear their music. I don’t know if they were super loud or if the floors just didn’t have much protection from noise.
- Brittany (6/5): - Our room air conditioner was leaking very badly on the carpet and caused a horrible smell the entire weekend unless we had the air on. Which the air was not needed most of the time. The fire alarm went off due to steam from the bathroom shower and would not go off. I also added the $10.00 breakfast ticket which was not needed due to no breakfast without paying. Overall, it was an average experience.
- Shelly (2/5): - Floors dirty, we had to wear our shoes or flip flops the whole time. We called and asked for towels they told us to come get them. We were charged for parking and that was supposed to come with the room.
- Angela (10/5): - we had a good time and was within walking distance to the stadium
- Tamara (5/5): I pay $600 for two nights to stay the weekend to move my daughter back into the college and did not know that the hotel - Very nice gear towards the college That it was under construction, and no one said anything and the prices were very high to be under construction, and you didn’t know until you arrived
- klbuck2014 (2/5): Dirty Rooms and Brown Water - My experience was far from what I expected from a Marriott property and has left me quite disappointed.
Upon arrival, I was assigned a room where the bed had hair in it, the toilet had a sandy deposit, the toilet paper had not been refreshed, there was a stain on the sheets, and the room was incredibly dusty. Due to these issues, I had to request a room change.
Unfortunately, the new room had its own set of problems. When I turned on the water in the sink, it was completely brown, forcing me to use bottled water to brush my teeth and wash my hands. The shower water also came out brown initially before running clear, which was concerning. I reported these issues to the front desk that night and again the following morning. The front desk representative a now manager is using the excuse of renovations and have not offered any remedy to accommodate the horrible conditions. I will not stay here again.
- Robert (6/5): - I recently stayed at this hotel and, while the overall experience was decent, the bathroom left much to be desired. The bathroom door wasn’t properly aligned, which meant it wouldn’t latch securely—definitely an inconvenience. The shower faucet was loose and didn't feel secure against the shower wall, which made using it somewhat uncomfortable. Additionally, the toilet paper holder was so loose that it barely held the toilet paper in place. To top it off, there didn’t seem to be a working vent in the bathroom, which made the space feel stuffy after a shower. These issues, though not deal-breakers, certainly detracted from an otherwise pleasant stay.
- Amy (4/5): Not up to Marriott Courtyard expectations - A Marriott Courtyard is usually a better hotel and priced accordingly. The positive was: they didn't cancel our hotel reservation (there were no other hotel options for that weekend.) The negatives were: they changed our 2 queen room to a 1 king room for 3 adults. There was a sofa bed that was extremely hard and uncomfortable. There was no bedding for the sofa bed so we had to go back to the front desk and got sheets but were told "there are no pillows because housekeeping is shorthanded." The room had a really strong chemical smell either from the new carpeting or recent painting but we all had headaches in the morning. I am used to paying for breakfast at a Courtyard but there was no one working the breakfast bar in the morning so we had to drive elsewhere. The room was not serviced, despite chatting with the housekeeper on our way out and letting her know we were out for the day so she was free to go in. So that afternoon we had to go back to get towels so we could shower. I understand hotels go through renovations, and have stayed at hotels under renovation, but this was over the top a cluster and to pay as much as we did, I do not plan to stay there again.
- Samantha (4/5): Disappointing Stay - The hotel is under construction and they could not accommodate us in the correct room we booked. The shower was dirty and would not drain. The hotel smelled. There were no towels when we requested them from the front. Overall, it was not an enjoyable or comfortable stay. We have stayed in the past without this issues so I am hopeful that it is because of the construction that this is happening. We could have spent less and stayed elsewhere had we known what the condition of the property was, but we chose this hotel because it tended to be the nicest in the area. For what we spent, they should have offered at least a breakfast with the reservation to off shoot the rest of what we needed to deal with while staying there during construction.
- Thomas (2/5): Horrible work by Hotel.com and the hotel - The hotel was under construction. Booked to swim no pool- no warning when checked in. Shower curtain smelled sour. Bathtub handle so tight it took two to turn. Dropped all night. Part of dinner was burned. Will not stay here again. Hotel.com should not have recommended this hotel. You are not current with their construction
- Candace (5/5): Passable -
- Marla (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (2/5): - The stay was terrible. The door to the room kept sticking. Had a hard time getting in or out of the room. There were no extra sheets for the sofa bed. The shower drained slow. Water was just standing in the shower for hours. And they did not notify us about the construction going on above us. We woke up on Saturday morning 8am to loud bagging and dragging of materials right above our room!
- Maryann (2/5): Very poor -
- George (8/5): - The property is being renovated so, I'm willing to overlook some details. Staff was very helpful.
- Dapremont (8/5): Very good -
- X6183KJbenw (2/5): Don’t plan on this hotel - Hotel is under construction and is overbooking. Myself and several families were turned away even though we had reservations. Will definitely not be including this hotel in my future plans. It would have been great to get a phone call to let me know the hotel was overbooked, but unfortunately when I arrived late in the evening we were told there weren’t anymore rooms.
- Lisa (8/5): - Not many choices in Starkville and this is probably the nicest hotel they have. That said, they need to freshen up a few things and probably offer a little more staff. Can’t get blankets or towels at night without going down to the desk and have had the air conditioning not work and the tv not work. This past stay was fine except for shortage of staff.
- 0011223344 (6/5): Fine for One Night Stay - We stayed here for one night on a road trip. I was worried by a lot of the negative reviews but it was fine. Yes there was construction work ongoing but the room was fine, it was big, it was clean, for a one night stay basic but all was fine. We didn't really use facilities there as we arrived too late for the pool and had breakfast out of hotel.
- Aine (6/5): Fine for One Night Stay - We stayed here for one night on a road trip. I was worried by a lot of the negative reviews but it was fine. Yes there was construction work ongoing but the room was fine, it was big, it was clean, for a one night stay basic but all was fine (we didn't pay a high room rate for this room). We didn't really use facilities there as we arrived too late for the pool and had breakfast out of hotel.
- Gregory (10/5): - Our visit was excellent… nice room amenities.. microwave, mini fridge, iron and board.. room was clean and comfortable… no smoking inside rooms or building but outside area had a designated area
- David (4/5): - The rooms for our stay averaged $350 per night, a three night stay. First we went down for breakfast and coffee first morning NO FREE BREAKFAST OR COFFEE! So on top of $350 per night we paid $7 per cup of coffee. Next we didn’t see housekeeping for our whole stay. Third the water in the bathtub ran continuously. Could not shut it off. When I got off the elevator my first impression was that the carpet seemed old and worn but dismissed as me being too picky. Now I think they’re over priced, not well kept up, maybe trying to pay for the remodeling that’s ongoing. The room itself was roomy except for the constant running water. When I made a comment to front desk about being pricey and not worth it her comment was that I shouldn’t have booked through Expedia, they charge more.
- Alli (7/5): Very pretty and clean place in a great location! Parking garage was a super nice addition! Staff was super friendly and - Location is great and rooms are very clean! I wasn’t aware that pool and hot tub were under construction so that was a major bummer! My daughter was super upset, but other than that it was great
- Jennifer (4/5): - Room was dingy and had broken things in need of repair. Air was noisy and made clicking sounds that woke us in the middle of the night. Too expensive for this kind of facility.
- Brittany (6/5): - The property is under construction at the moment, which I understand. However, when I pay $657.00 for a 2 night stay, I expect to have hot water, a fridge that works in my room, and a door will easily open with our key. Our door did not latch properly so one of us had to pull it hard while the other held the key to the door. Our tv remote was so dirty that I would not let my son use it. I feel like I paid way too much for what I got. I will not be staying there again.
- Jason (8/5): - Staff were great and friendly, hotel was very clean.
Would have liked housekeeping to visited and cleaned the room during our stay and replenished the towels but everything else was great
- Sonya L (8/5): - I stayed during renovations. They were in the midst of redoing the rooms. The noise was kept at a bare minimum, but it was still an “annoyance “ I know they did the best they could. Looking forward to coming back and staying in a newly renovated room.
- Dafuntay (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Linda (6/5): - It was very good experience
- 106eddiec (2/5): No Hot Water - No hot water after running for 7-10 minutes. Told the front desk upon checkout. Her comment “I’ll let someone know”. No apologies. Won’t stay again. Tried to purchase a candy bar and M&Ms. Clerk said $7.00. No thanks. Nothing special about this hotel
- Christina (6/5): - The elevator had an odor of burning motor oil, and I could feel that the floor was broken under the carpet when I got off the elevator. One of the floors was under renovation, but I felt unease that the floor was in such bad disrepair. The staff was courteous. Also, parking is behind the hotel in a garage, but no one told me the best level to park is the 2nd level. Level two is the same level as the hotel, and you can enter from the back.
- Jasmine (10/5): Exceptional -
- hendawyomran (6/5): Good but it needs improvement - Stayed there for one night with my wife and two kids in a room with two queen size beds.
Pros: it is walking distance from most restaurants and has free parking.
Cons: the power outlets in the room we stayed in were not working or loose. Shower handle needed a catalogue to figure it out. A little bit pricey for the quality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good but it can be improved - We didn’t spend much time, only one night.
Pros: close to all restaurants in the area (walking distance). Free parking.
Cons: most of the power outlet in the room we stayed in were not working or loose. Bathroom shower handle needed a catalogue to figure it out. Little bit pricey for the quality.
- nicholeandfam (4/5): Traveler beware and lower your expectations. - Courtyard has pushed me over the edge with the Starkville hotel/accommodations. We arrived today, walked in our original room and it had not been cleaned up from the previous guests stay. That was one thing but not the worst. Due to our original room not being cleaned, we were moved to another "bigger" (accessible) room. It's just me and my husband so honestly I couldn't care less about the size. I don't particularly care for accessible rooms but the least that it can be is clean and in decent shape. Of course they are sold out because it's a baseball home game weekend, so we're stuck unless we drive to the next town.
This should be the top tier hotel for Starkville however, it's not. They make way too much money for the room that we are in to be this crappy. I feel like when a hotel represents its brand this bad it should have to relinquish the brand's name and go independent. Courtyard Starkville, should have NEVER let these rooms get like this. It's a downright disgrace. I wasn't expecting 5 star but I wasn't expecting 1 star either.
I just wanted to share pictures so people KNOW what they have the potential to experience in choosing to come here. I'm not the biggest fan of the Holiday Inn Express, but, I'm probably going to stick with them because this is not up to the expectations that I have for a Marriott brand hotel.
Side note: I REALLY wish room cleaners would take more pride in their work. There are so few that do.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Awful! - We have stayed here several times before, but this will definitely be the last. Shower was filthy, had to ask several times for sheets for the pull out couch, halls had trash scattered throughout, person at the front desk was rude each time we asked for something, there was apparently renovation happening on the 4th floor but that was not mentioned, as was the fact that they would start working beginning early the next morning. Overall, a terrible experience.
- Patricia (8/5): - I was disappointed in the cleanliness of my room. I have stayed at this hotel before and it was not like this.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean.Everything except . In room heater didn't work. Bit cold. Outlets to charge phone didn't work
- Peggy (6/5): Disappointed - There was mold on the bathtub walls and under the rim of the bathroom sink. There was also pubic hair in the tub.
We specifically asked for a handicapped accessible room but did not get one, even though we were assured we would get one. No grab bars anywhere near the toilet and only one on the bathtub wall and it was up too high for a short person.
- Seth (8/5): - Nice facility.
- Peggy Linton (10/5): Great hotel - Very clean and comfortable beds
- Ashley (10/5): - Front desk was super nice
- Peter (9/5): Great stay - Location
Nice room
Clean Few little things broken - handles on shower, towel racks etc.
- Linda (10/5): - Front desk personnel are excellent. Very kind and helpful. Enjoyed talking with them
- Vanessa (4/5): Did you ask for Room Service? REALLY😡 - In town for a funeral. Stay was mediocre at best. First, the lock on the door. We had to struggle each time to get in AND TO GET OUT! The deadbolt kept coming out when turning the handle coming out. Going in we had to jiggle the handle several tomes before it would open. Maintenance came up and explaoned nothing about the lock just stated they are getting ready to do renovations. That had nothing to do with the current situation 🙄 We were there for 3 full days. No room service not one day! Had to call down for towels. Upon checkout I explain to clerk, she then asks did I ask for room service 😳 WTH.. is that how hotels work now. No I didnt ask I paid you $500 For 3 nights! That was my ask! Then she continues to say we have new staff and they are just learning. Excuses are monuments of nothingness and they build bridges to no where! This is Unexceptable Courtyard! Don't use room 233😩
- rkcouch (4/5): Not clean! - Noticed actual blood splatter on the chair. On the seat and seat back. The shower had excessive amount of hair. Very disappointed for the price. Won't be staying there again when visiting family next time.
- Charles (3/5): Poor - Love location. Hotel was tired. Could tell that a lot of people have been through that room. Needs remodel in rooms
- Julie (10/5): - Love the location!! Easy access to football stadium, to restaurants, even to gas and highway.
Nice staff - helpful and friendly
the room was clean, nicely furnished.
I was a little suprised that the carpet in the hall was stained in several areas...
Overall a very nice stay and hotel.
- Nicholas (6/5): Clean and neat but bathroom needs renovated or repaired. - The room was very clean. The water pressure was amazingly good. The breakfast was good. In Room 216, the bathroom faucet was loose and felt like it would come apart, and the sink drain was hard to get back open once it was closed. The bathtub finish was chipped all over, and it had little support under it and felt like it was going to fall in.
- Tedi (6/5): - DO NOT stay here if is there is a game! They charged almost $700 a night for a very basic room. There was a cart parked in front of the window all weekend so we couldn't even open our window. No breakfast or coffee. No restaurant. I guess they are riding the location.
- Temesha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (10/5): - Clean, nice hotel and walkable to Miss State campus!
- Jaime (10/5): - Staff was super friendly. Easy walk to Davis Wade.
- adam (2/5): - the lady on the front desk wasnt every Smart . and
