Guest Reviews
- Karen (8/5): Lovely clean hotel - Lovely clean hotel great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our stay was a little disappointing though as there were people drinking and partying until 4am on both nights of our stay keeping us awake.
- John (10/5): - Late check in so used the auto machines which worked perfectly and quickly. Rooms were well layed out and perfect for a stop over before a long drive.
- Paul (6/5): - Quick overnight stay didn’t really converse with any staff as they have an automated check in
- David (4/5): Will not use again - When we arrived the reception was closed and there was a queue struggling to book in on the machine provided. When it was our turn machine wouldn’t except the registration number provided. I had to contact someone on an intercom and was given a new registration number and told to use my christian name instead of the requested surname. The room had a stale odour
- Ricky (6/5): Decent Value, but Check-In Needs Work - Cheap and cheerful, this B&B HOTEL in Boulogne-sur-Mer is in a handy location — just a short drive to the Channel Tunnel, making it great for stopovers.
I liked the idea of using a key code to access the room, meaning no need to see staff and you can arrive anytime. However, the process wasn’t as smooth as it should be. The code I was sent didn’t work, so I couldn’t check in via the machine or get my room number. When it works, I imagine it’s convenient, but when it doesn’t, it’s stressful — especially with no staff around to help.
The room itself was very basic but fair for the price. The shower was surprisingly good, with great pressure and hot water, which was a nice plus.
Cleanliness was a bit of a letdown — the room needed a vacuum, and the toilet would have benefited from a proper clean and some bleach.
The biggest concern was the door. The key code system also meant the door didn’t lock properly from the inside, which was unsettling. With no staff onsite at the time, there was no way to get help.
Overall, it did the job for a quick, cheap overnight stay, but the check-in process and room cleanliness could really use some attention.
- Wong (8/5): Mrs - Good location
- mark (8/5): - Stayed 1 night no issue only thing was only had 1 pillow couple of pillows Would of being better.
- Steve (10/5): Perfect stay, excellent location - Very pleased with our stay. The rooms were cosy and comfortable. The location is excellent as loads of restaurants walking distance including a McDonalds.
- Alan (6/5): Standard traveller motel - Simple motel in the process of being renovated/repainted.
Nice room, good decor, quiet, good breakfast.
- Irfan (10/5): - Enough space for 3 people, clean and had shower and toilet inside room.
- AJ (6/5): Decent for stopover, some rooms noisy. - Room 47 as expected, clean and comfortable enough. It was hot but unable to get fresh air as very noisy extraction above. Staff very pleasant and breakfast good value.
- bernard (10/5): Good Value - Excellent value and convient to autoroute. Better than expected breakfast for type of hotel and very reasonable. Very helpful staff.
- Dorn (8/5): Be carefull checking in after hours - WARNING - You may have problems checking in out of hours if you have local taxes still to pay!!!
The hotel was clean and comfortable, and although a little on the small side, it was bigger than some we stayed in.
We arrived just after reception had closed and tried checking in on the machine, however it would not let me. Luckily the reception staff were still around, and they were lovely, despite knowing little english. The problem was the outstanding local taxes. These couldn't be paid on the machine, so make sure you arrive before 8pm.
To find the hotel turn off the roundabout towards McDonalds but follow the road next to it up the hill. You may find using the hospital address easier if using a sat nav, as the hospital enterance is just down from the hotel.
In fact the hotel looks over the hospital heli pad on one side, and on a clear day on the other side, you can see the white cliffs of Dover.
For food, you have McDonalds, an American style steak restaurant, and a chinese buffet within walking distance.
- Clare (6/5): - Very basic.
Noisy overnight.
Room cleanliness not great
Staff at breakfast lovely and very helpful. Breakfast selection is good but the room is too small.
- Chris (6/5): - Perfectly adequate for a single overnight stay to get some sleep on a very long drive. Very close to the motorway (so convenient) and room was very quiet. Room was tired and could do with some cosmetic renovation - e.g. toilet door would not lock due to door being broken.
- Ashley (10/5): - The toilet whilst clean was old and stained. Convenient location with local food outlets nearby. Staff friendly
- Linda (6/5): - This is fine for a one night stay. Rather an old building, grey and unattractive. Our room was small but clean and quiet. Bedding rather heavy.
- Anthony (8/5): Genuine value for money. - The enteance, geounds and exterior could do with a tidy up, but nice beds, lots of hot water, 2 uk tv channels, plenty parking.
- colin (8/5): - Hotel was easy to find, check in was straightforward and the room was clean and just way we wanted with the double and 2 singles, only thing missing was a kettle in the room to make a cup of tea but I went to reception to get one.
- Michael (4/5): Wouldn't stay again - Carpet was sticky, breakfast had only the basics and was restricted to a tiny side plate only. No ham or cheese for continental
- Laura (4/5): - Entrance to hotel needs attention, not very welcoming.
Bathrooms and carpets needs an upgrade.
Beds are comfy, we slept well.
Adequate breakfast
- kelly (6/5): - First impressions were that it looked like an old fashioned motel that many people had been murdered in. However room was clean, the kids loved their mezzanine level, and receptionist was very friendly. Too far out of town to walk anywhere but there was free parking in Boulogne so no problem to drive the 10 mins in. Breakfast was fine and overall the stay was fine. It could really just do with a smarten up outside so it looks less depressing when you first arrive.
- Jordan (4/5): Not like the photos - Not like the photos - thought we had turned to the wrong hotel - very depressing building - not what you expect for a £100 hotel it’s no different to a £35 one - poor breakfast - slow checking they couldn’t find booking for ages - never again
- chris (8/5): - Great location for channel tunnel, lots of places to eat nearby. Comfy spacious room. Easy to get to.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Comfortable for an overnight stay after travelling from UK on the ferry . Easy to gain access after reception was closed .
- Michael (8/5): - Ok
- Richard (8/5): - Clean & tidy with a good breakfast
- Ruth (10/5): - Very comfortable for an overnight stop
- Sandrine (8/5): - Clean and quiet
- David (6/5): Ok for the money - Was ok for the amount paid but unfortunately no check in staff were available and it took me a while to find that there was an automatic check in machine outside. After that it was ok. Room warm enough and everything worked.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No Aircon,No Kettle,No tea/Coffee,No sleep all nit - No Air conditioning-very hot inside room,
No sleep all night. No Kettle, No tea/coffee bags..
- Mohammad (2/5): No Kettle / tea-coffee bags/Air conditioning - No kettle or complimentary tea bags in side room.
Feels very hot inside, no ventilation or air-condition. We 4 had no sleep all night.
- James (4/5): - The room was grim. Small. The carpet on entry was covered in dog hair
- Norman (10/5): - Considering the last time i stayed at the hotel it was less than inviting, this stay was completely the opposite. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and the outside was tidy and in much better condition. An altogether better experience.
- Laurent (6/5): - You get what you pay for
- Caroline (10/5): - .
- Norman (10/5): - The whole complex was looking tired. The room was comfortable enough for one night before a Calais crossing. The auto Check In was easy.
Off putting was the abandoned van outside réception full of rubbish which had clearly been there for some time.
All in all the hotel felt as if it was just left.
- Carl (2/5): - This hotel was filthy. Do not stay here. Sleep in your car instead! We had no choice as we had our 2 children with us. I am very disappointed in Expedia. I have written 2 emails to complain and chatted with an agent, but I am still waiting for a response. So much for being a loyal and long serving customer!
- Christopher (10/5): - Room was clean and tidy ,staff was very helpful ,would recommend this B&B to my friends .
- Sarah (8/5): Comfortable room that was good value for price. - Cheap and basic hotel room but for money paid, had everything expected. Reception staff very helpful and room was clean and comfortable.
- Ben (2/5): - Absolutely disgusting dump of a hotel. Room was unclean, air con didn't work at all, and bathroom was unclean with mould in shower. Reception was closed shortly after checking in so no one to discuss issues with but friends who also stayed had an even worse room
- Jusyana (8/5): - It is OK for a short stay. Room looked better than expected compared to the building. Breakfast was basic and also OK.
- Denise (8/5): Not great … - The checkin was quick and efficient, but then found that the heating in the room didn’t work and upon my request, the receptionist came to have a look and he agreed, so he brought me a small electric heater, which served the purpose well. But then I discovered that there was no soap or bathmat either ..
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not a great experience - Could not get car into car park as needed access code which was not sent to me. Check in no staff so tried to self check in it wasn’t working for me or other people
Who turned up. Other people
Had to rebook a room. I was told when I called for help that I do not have a reservation after waiting in cold at 11pm after travelling 8 hours( problem with eurotunnel) this was all we needed. Finally the guy on the call found the booking asked me to put in a code into the machine which was in french (there was English but french needed to figure out how to get to the English. Got our key code and went up.
Heater not working as making very loud banging noise every time turned it on woke children and could be hear by other rooms. Had to stay cold alnight
Went to to pay for breakfast and was told we have to Prebook, so no breakfast for us had to travel without eating and Hardly sleeping. Not a good experience
- Alan (10/5): - Wifi?
Was there any?
No info in the room re wifi
All else okay - nighttime arrival no staff contact - none necessary
2 extra pillows would have been appreciated
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth the money - The hotel seems to be quite old and considering we’re going through a pandemic I expected cleaning conditions to be MUCH better, they were just ok even in normal times.
Considering what we payed it’s crazy expensive and completely not worth it - also much more expensive in hotels.com than the price advertised in the hotel.
We only stayed as a pit stop close to the motorway during a long car journey, but even for that purpose I’m sure there are better options nearby.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Very helpful staff on reception . Breakfast very good considering it was not able to be self service due to the social distancing rules . Breakfast was given to us in paper carrier so we could decide whether to eat in cafeteria or as we did take back to your room . All staff had masks on and wore gloves whilst serving breakfast .
Liked the record sheet of which areas had been disinfected and signed by the cleaner of the room.
- Ivon (8/5): B&b boulogne - The stay was excellent although we had very noisy neighbours,
- Barry (10/5): - Booked en route to Calais. Had breakfast which was excellent value. Short walk to town. Also facilities close to hotel. Room was spotless would definitely use again
- Mr W (8/5): Good location - Good location for food and Channel ferries.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel grounds and rooms are very clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful, even the hotel cat "Gizmo" comes and visits and is friendly too. Its very convenient for the Calais ferry. But we usually find we do have to book up a few days in advance because it tends to get very busy.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We Checked in shortly after midnight using the touch screen which only gave us the option to pay again which we had no choice but to do with 2 small children with us! We’ve now paid twice for our stay & we have proof on bank statements!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel was very close to Ferry Terminal. Room was clean and tidy and Breakfast if you need it. The only negative was an air conditioning unit which was outside and it did come on and off during the night, but it didnt put us off returning in the future.
- robin (8/5): Great for overnight stay. - Good value , but a bit noisy from a system we never traced and late night talkers. Would still visit again as it is very convenient to supermarket and easy to reach Boulogne centre..
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very small bathroom & shower area. Air conditioning not working.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Restful night and good breakfast, got us set u for continued journey. Close to Le Tunnell.
- Tina (8/5): Good stopover hotel - Rooms small and functional. Clean and plenty of hot water. Towels provided. Check in quick and efficient. Staff helpful. Breakfast looked ok but not amazing. Several eating places within a 2 minute walk so well placed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything in place, small but compact, excellent value for money.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Could not check in on the automated service without incurring a second charge for a room I already paid for through expedia. The 24 hour call service was no help. There is limited hotel staff presence with confusing arrangements for when they will be available. Luckily I just caught someone who assigned access to our room without second charge. The hotel is cheap and cheerful exactly whst you expect for the cost. However the checkin experience left a bitter taste.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was fine exactly as we thought. Clean bedding etc. One bedside light faulty but no big problem
- Ian (10/5): Boulogne Sur Mer - A lovely stay.
- Andrew (10/5): - Arrived late around 3am, but auto check-in was perfectly easy. Good breakfast, friendly staff the following day. Would definitely return again.
- Andrew (8/5): - Very good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fantastically comfortable bed. Extra pillows delivered on request by really happy helpful staff.
Downside was the room smelt of smoke, the room is tiny and no hairdryer. The shower was great. All in all would rather pay £20 extra and stay here with own bathroom than stay at a F1.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Comfortable overnight stop . Breakfast good, friendly staff, very handy access to Euro tunnel and Calais ferry terminal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice location rooms clean and tidy could do with small kettle and tea coffee sachets like other hotels in the rooms
- Konstantinos (6/5): - Internet reception was extremely poor. The carpet was not as clean as expectrd. The room size and layout was quite tight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quiet location, easy to drive in and around town. Close to retail park. Basic room for budget holiday. secure parking around the hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Small room, good location - I booked the room with an online agent and I had a confirmation email stating that the room was all paid for but when we checked in I was asked to pay again until I showed them the confirmation email. When we got the room number and code, the code was wrong and we had to wait for a while before the computer regenerated a new code so we can get into our room. After we came back from dinner and tried to log on the internet and the code did not work. Since it was after 9 p.m. when nobody was in sight, we had to use our roaming data to check emails but nothing else. The next morning we asked for the code again and we were given a new code for the internet. The lady was very friendly but needs organisation. The room is really small and I had to give way when my husband wanted to pass me to go to the bathroom. The bed and sheets are clean which is a positive sign and the location is good because there are lots of places to eat.
- K (6/5): - This is a very basic hotel. There is no reception so you check in at a machine in the wall. They sent me a code the day before checking in which would have been helpful if sent way in advance as l was travelling and had no WiFi device. Another thing was, when we arrived at the room, it wasn’t locked, so felt unsafe especially as we had kids with us. I booked a family room, not much space to move around the bedroom downstairs, upstairs was ok but stairs are very narrow and ceiling is low so deal for kids. Very small bathroom, shower unit more like for kids. On the positive side, the mattress was perfect. I wouldn’t stay here for more than 2 nights, good if only for short stop over.
- Janette (6/5): Motel not hotel, limited facilities - Staff seemed disinterested and there are no real facilities.
The shower room is tiny, a small choice of refreshments from a vending machine
- Robin (6/5): - Ideal for an overnight stop for the younger traveler . Basic and clean, but missing niceties such as a second pillow.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Grubby, dirty, cramped - Room booked weeks before not available, hotel run down and grubby. First and last time we stay at a B&B hotel
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Mouldy bathroom - noisy- ambulances going to hospital in back yard of this barrack like set up
- John (6/5): overnight stay on journey - basic hotel. late arrival meant we did not see any staff so cannot comment on them.
- Graham (10/5): B&Q Boulogne - Liked the refurbished rooms!
- Stephanie (6/5): - Email sent by you had a number for access which did not work. Fortunately a member of staff was available but if it had been later at night, we would not have been able to access our room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Goodhotel but make sure you have the booking code - We arrived at this hotel late at night and the reception was closed - there was a self booking in system in operation. We proceeded to book into 2 of our 3 rooms but then realised we hadn’t been sent a booking number/code for the 3rd room. We contacted the head office through a help button and here we came across a very rude woman, she agreed we hadn’t been sent the number/code but stated she had rung the manager of the hotel and got her up and she was very upset!! I stated this hardly my fault but then it took a while to get me the correct number/code!!
The actual manager was lovely and she apologised for the ‘help’ desk woman, and the hotel was basic but very clean and perfect for an overnight stop. The breakfast was fantastic so after the initial stress it was a a very positive experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfy bed - Apart from being charged twice-once when booking and then again when using the automatic check-in machine, it was a good stay. The bed is so comfortable-absolutely wonderful.
- jen (8/5): Nice hotel close to autoroute - Close to autoroute and places to eat. Polite , helpful staff . Comfortable room
- Verified traveler (6/5): Sufficient for an overnight stop - Only stayed one night. A convenient stop over from the Tunnel arriving early evening and travelling West. Choice of 2 restaurants (plus MacDonalds) within easy walking distance for an evening meal. Didn't like the fact that there was only one pillow on offer.
- Bruce (6/5): Basic No Frills Clean Place to Sleep.nothing more - This hotel is your basic place to spend the night and nothing more. I had a reservation at this hotel telling them I would arrive at 3 pm. We arrived at 3 pm only to find the place locked up with a note on the office window telling us to come back at 5 pm. We went to the room and found the hotel to be a micro-hotel with barely enough room to slide my suitcase between the end of the bed and the wall. No had soap was provided. There was a liquid soap dispenser mounted on the shower wall. The room was clean and the shower was good. As it seems to be the standard European way of "green" toilet paper dispensing, this hotel has a single sheet dispenser that is inadequate for most Americans, I would advise bringing your own roll with you. The entire property does look dated and is in need of a face lift. Overall I would rate this place as a 2.5 on a 5 scale based upon the price I paid for the room. The surrounding area is ok. Free parking and wi-fi are plus features.
- Verified traveler (6/5): basic hotel within easy drive of town centre - The hotel is situated not too far from town, but within easy reach of a number of like properties, including restaurants. It is a basic , cheap overnight purpose built unit of around 100 clean and functional rooms. Breakfast was OK but extra as expected. Room was quiet , clean but. beds a little on the hard side. Good shower and safe parking in fenced yard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Handy - A no frills, easy, convenient hotel which does exactly what it says. Very comfortable bed. Very handy location and nice and quiet. Tiny shower but at this price, that's ok!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good for a short stay. Convenient for restaurants within walking distance. Could do with tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
- Ann (8/5): Terrible experience with expedia - Prepaid bur expedia did not transfer the money to the hotel and we had to pay again.
- Margaret (10/5): - No frills hotel, but excellent beds and bedding. Very quiet, comfortable and convenient.
- Jacqueline (4/5): - Bed cover had several spots of blood on the inside, as it was very late at night we had to turn the cover to the outside and place the stain at the bottom of the bed
- Keith (6/5): Good stopover on way back to eurotunnel - Hotel undergoing some re-furbishment. Dining area should be OK once work complete. Good breakfast. Given a room with 2 single beds -instead of the large double bed which had been booked.
- Anthony (8/5): A good and compact hotel for the traveller. - Room was clean and beds comfortable. This hotel is undergoing refurbishment and the new picture on our room wall was inspiring. Free Wifi a plus. Overall, good value.
- Adrian (8/5): Don't Pay Twice! - Really good, as usual.....croissants are superb. But we have had to pay twice (once through Hotels.com, then insisted at Hotel that it was a reservation only, and bill needed settling. Will be pursuing a refund as appropriate from Hotels.com
- Kathleen (6/5): - Was adequate for overnight stay
- gary (8/5): Simple, does what it promises but Jo more - Easy check in using automated system. Breakfast is not worth the money.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Excellent value basic hotel - Close to motorway so easy to find but not noisy. Range of eating opportunities nearby.
- jan (8/5): - Hotel is a bit tired but staff are very helpful. Not bad value for money
- Ian (6/5): - Paid in advance so that we had a breakfast included. When we went down for breakfast told we would have to pay extra. Will not use B & B again due to this.
- Hilary (4/5): Basic but clean hotel with automatic check in. - A very basic hotel near Boulogne which served its purpose as an overnight family stop-off on the way home from France. Check your emails after booking this hotel as check in is by automatic machine & instructions will be sent via an email in French. The room, a family mezzanine was spotlessly clean and had free internet but space was very limited, we had to fix the toilet ourselves to make it flush and there was no kettle. Parking is plentiful and free. There are a couple of fast food restaurants near by (although the local McDonalds doesn't do breakfast). I don't think I would choose to stay in one of these hotels again as I prefer a slightly higher level of comfort.
- Jade (10/5): - We stayed for one night as this was a stop-over so that we could continue on our journey. The room was clean and comfortable, with adequate parking and free Wi-Fi which worked well. Breakfast was self serve, the breakfast room was a little small but there was plenty of choice of foods both hot and cold and the same with the drinks.
We had a comfortable stay and would stay in this hotel again in the future.
- George (8/5): Basic but comfortable - Handy for the A6 south from Calais. If you arrive late you can check yourself in. Clean comfortable rooms. No tea or coffee facilities in the room (argh!), but there are vending machines in the lobby. TV (French, obvs)
- Jade (8/5): 2016 hols - We used this stay as a 1 night stop over on our journey too & from our holiday. The room was clean with a comfy bed, good parking, excellent WiFi & the breakfast was fab!
